You all know I’m a huge Vichy Fan. But I don’t know, lately? I’m kind of becoming a little disillusioned with the brand. Especially with this new product, Vichy Ideal Body Aqua Sorbet.

Vichy Ideal Body Aqua Sorbet ($29.95)

 Vichy Ideal Body Aqua Sorbet.jpg

Vichy Ideal Body Aqua Sorbet

Vichy says this is “the first body treatment with an ultra-refreshing texture to keep skin feeling fresh and energetic from morning until evening.”  Vichy Ideal Body Aqua Sorbet has active ingredients like Gingko Biloba and Hyaluronic Acid to leave skin feeling hydrated, fresh and firm for 24 hours. There’s also some oils like macadamia, blackcurrant seed, sunflower seed, jojoba, and more. Check the list of ingredients to see for yourself:

And while Vichy is always paraben free, I do think they need to stop using other ingredients like dimethicone or silicones, as a lot of us really try to avoid them and may be allergic even. And also, denatured alcohol is pretty high up in that list of ingredients-like #3! Personally, I’ve been trying to avoid products that have it in their first 5 ingredients. There’s two sides to every argument, but as someone that had to work with alcohols in labs all the time, I can say that I do not enjoy what they do to skin-that’s why I’d wear gloves people. And that’s why Vichy Ideal Body Aqua Sorbet has that “refreshing” feeling they’re talking about. That’s the alcohol evaporating and drying out your skin. And if you have dry skin like me….yeah, you see where I’m going with this.

Vichy Ideal Body Aqua Sorbet.jpg

Vichy Ideal Body Aqua Sorbet-see the sparkle trail? Click to enlarge and see it better.

It’s a light peachy shade, with apparently a sorbet scent. To me, it smells like floral slightly BOOZY peach because I can detect the alcohol smell. I’m Ukrainian…my nose can pick up that scent as fast as the scent of perogies and sour cream. Also, see the SPARKLES??!! This stuff is so full of oxides and mica-it’s like you took some pyrite and rubbed it all over your skin. I guess it’s fine for the summer though? When you’re going out? But I shower at night, so why would I want to cover myself in sparkles before bed? No thanks man. If you are a morning shower person, then by all means sparkle up dude. You glow.

So, what I’m trying to say is that I’m afraid Vichy Ideal Body Aqua Sorbet won’t be added to my list of Vichy Loves.

I’ve been trying to be more careful and pay more attention to ingredients lately, especially what I put on my body. As I age, a lot of things make me really ITCHY and DRY, and since I’ve been avoiding things that are high in denatured alcohol, I’ve noticed a difference in my itch factor. Have you become more mindful of ingredients lately too?

Welcome back to Sunscreen Week! Today’s the last day-kind of. I still have one or two face sunscreens I want to review, but I’m kind of sunscreened-out at the moment. 😛  I promise to share them soon though!
Today I have a new sunscreen from one of my other favourite skincare brands, Vichy!

Vichy Idéal Soleil Invisible Mist SPF50 .jpg

Vichy Idéal Soleil Invisible Mist SPF50

Vichy Idéal Soleil Invisible Mist SPF50($31.95) contains the #1 filter recommended by dermatologists, Mexoryl SX. Mexoryl SX is a synthetic sunscreen agent developed and patented by L’Oreal originally. Mexoryl SX does not degrade after hours of sun exposure at the same rate as avobenzone. Although it still will breakdown after a couple of hours, which is why the photostabilizers Parsol 1789 and octocrylene are added to it. Read about why photostabilizers are needed in yesterday’s blog post HERE. Vichy’s UVA photostable filtering system gets Health Canada’s stamp of recognition. You get other skin benefits such as more luminosity, better skin quality, and fewer wrinkles and spots with Vichy Idéal Soleil Invisible Mist SPF50It’s like a bonus skincare effect, which is kinda’ nice!

Vichy Idéal Soleil Invisible Mist SPF50 helps to protect against all UV rays, is quick drying, light in texture and leaves no white cast at all. The formula has been upgraded this year and is nicely hydrating, soothing, yet has a mattifying effect. It dries to the touch within seconds, so you can get dressed toot sweet! Perfect for those rushed mornings!

Vichy Idéal Soleil Invisible Mist SPF50 jpg

Vichy Idéal Soleil Invisible Mist SPF50

Vichy Idéal Soleil Invisible Mist SPF50 is also great for sensitive skins as it’s hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic and paraben free. And of course, it has Vichy Thermal Spa Water which soothes the skin.

Since there are so many spray sunscreens these days, I want to make sure you are applying them correctly and applying enough! Because again, most people don’t apply enough sunscreen and are getting half of the SPF protection out of their sunscreens. And I think sprays are deceiving in how much sunscreen you’re applying.

My tips are to first, SHAKE SHAKE SHAKE that can! Start spraying in CIRCULAR motions because that’ll make sure you don’t miss a spot. Stay on one body part at a time before moving to the next. And here’s the recommended spray time for each body part :

ARMS: 3 seconds on each
FRONT: 4 seconds
BACK: 4 seconds
LEGS: 7 seconds on each

So many sunscreens, so little time hey? 😛

What do you prefer-lotion, creams, or spray sunscreens? I think personally I prefer a cream for my face and neck area, and a spray for the rest of me. You?

You know, there’s nothing like getting a good sleep. A GOOD DEEP SLEEP. It’s so rejuvenating, right? For your mind, your body, your soul….and your FACE. Hey, that’s when all your skin repairing happens! So if you don’t get enough sleep…it’ll start to show up on your face.

Why? Well, your skin is unable to set in motion its renewal and repair process if you don’t get enough sleep. There’s a one hour period between midnight and 1 am during which the skin’s renewal cycles say HEYYYY let’s get funky! Flaking, cell differentiation, restoration of the skin’s barrier function, boosting microcirculation and cellular reorganization–those funky five actions reach their peak during the night. And that’s called  the “skin’s deep sleep” and it’s so important to its health.

Well, Vichy has come out with probably the best sleep mask I’ve ever tried. Until now, my favourite has been the Filorga Sleep Recover Anti Fatigue Night Balm, which Phil @ Mirror Reality told me about. And you should visit his blog if you are a skin care junkie…the man KNOWS skincare and he teaches me so much. The Filorga was the first night cream that I could actually tell worked some kind of SOMETHING on my skin the next morning(I should blog about it I guess then, hey? 😛 ) When I use it, I wake up and look like I had the BEST sleep ever. I love it so much, I even bought a back-up within days of using it, and I love it still, I do.

Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep

Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep

But Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep? Works just as well, if not just that bit BETTER. Well, it’s a mask after all, so it should work better! And it’s CHEAPER than the Filorga, so win!

Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep($52) has ingredients that are capable of stimulating the skin’s deep sleep mechanisms to recreate and optimize their repairing effects.

  • Glycyrrizic Acid which comes from Licorice root and reduces skin irritation and ensures hydrated and supple skin.
  • Hyaluronic Acid for hydrated, bouncy skin.
  • Caffeine to reduce fatigue and promote rested skin
  • Vitamin B3 for an even and healthy skin tone
  • repairing Oils(rich in omegas) provides supple and resistant skin

Oh, and of course there’s soothing Vichy Thermal Spa Water in Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep too. It’s Paraben-free and hypoallergenic and suitable for ALL skin types.

Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep.jpg

Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep

The texture is sublime! It’s a gel, yet feels very thick and balmy. And it’s PINK. I love pink skincare for some reason…makes me smile when I open the jar, ok? 😛  There is a gentle fragrance of jasmine and green tea, but nothing overly cloying and I find it dissipates quickly anyways. I apply a thick layer and wait about 20 minutes before hitting the sheets, just so that most of that goodness gets into my skin and not my pillowcase. I don’t NEED my pillowcase to look good in the morning haha!

 photo IMG_0789.jpg

Oh hey Mr. Rabbit thanks for visiting my little photo shoot…you like the looks of this Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep too, hey? i bet you could use a good night’s sleep too hahaha.

The next morning after using Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep, you won’t believe your eyes I swear. You face will look different. Younger! Rested! Smoother! And feel so hydrated! It’s seriously beauty sleep in a jar.

Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep.jpg

Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep

I have a lot of sleep masks….a lot. And I should do a smack down of all of them some day. And maybe I will. But honestly, I kind of feel no need to at the moment, because Vichy Idealia Skin Sleep would be the hands down winner for me anyways. I don’t even look at the others in my skincare drawer right now…

Find it where Vichy is sold like Shopper’s Drug Mart and Rexall Drugs! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED by moi!

Happy Friday everyone! Do you use sleep masks? What’s your favourite?

Our skin changes over the years. It really does. I used to be pretty normal and acne free in my teens to early 20s. After I had Marky, things changed. All of a sudden I was getting zits! To be honest I never really had them all that much growing up. It was kind of a shock! So, I adjusted my skincare to tackle this new skin of mine and at the time it did work. But my skin became oilier as a result. In my thirties my t-zone grew oilier as the day went by, and I had to blot my skin by lunch time. But in my forties, my skin changed drastically. It was now dry! No more oil slick! And spots and hyper pigmentation appeared.  And now, in my late forties and nearing menopause, I’m experiencing hypersensitive skin, dryness, and occasional breakouts. What’s a girl to do???!!!

Well, Vichy is here to help!

#VichyWorksForMe is a digital campaign created to help women find their ideal skin at every stage of life. Drawing on over 80 years of skin care expertise, the Vichy Works For Me platform combines dermatological expertise with a holistic approach to discovering women’s ideal skin.

The #VichyWorksForMe campaign follows a group of five real Canadian woman as they discover how to achieve their ideal skin. The women depict five common life stages and lifestyles, each corresponding to a particular collection of Vichy products – Normaderm, Idealia, ProEVEN, LiftActiv and Neovadiol. Knowing that achieving skin health involves more than just the right products and routines, these women met with Vichy’s team of experts – Anik Kerr-Denis, Vichy Canada expert, Dr. Roni Munk, dermatologist, Natasha Azrak, nutritionist and Laura Griffiths, life coach. They learned how various lifestyle factors can affect their overall skin health and received advice on how to achieve their ideal skin through skin care practices, nutrition and lifestyle habits.

Vichy believes in getting to the root of the problem, so that’s why they’ve created their skin diagnostics. There’s an online version at which also provides holistic advice, but there’s also a free in-store one given by a beauty advisor at your nearest drugstore if you prefer. Both will provide you with a personal skin analysis by learning more about your life, your skin care routines and habits. You’ll get product recommendations from Vichy that will help you get YOUR ideal skin, PLUS, a $20 coupon to put towards your Vichy products!

I had the chance to actually chat with Vichy Expert Anik Kerr-Denis and she was AWESOME. She asked me all kinds of questions about my life and my skin, and and these are the Vichy products that she decided would work for me-#VichyWorksForMe!

Now, I didn’t quite fit into just one of Vichy’s skin care ranges. Since I’m going through quite a life-changing phase(almost in menopause, but not quite there) I have a lot of stuff going on with my skin at the moment. So, my Ideal Skin Routine #VichyWorksForMe comes from quite a few of Vichy’s skincare lines.

Vichy ProEven Brightening Cleansing Foam, Vichy Eau Thermale

Vichy ProEven Brightening Cleansing Foam is my favourite foamy cleanser on this earth I swear. It’s a nice, creamy foam too-just the way I like my cleansers. I do use a cream cleaser since I have drier skin as you know, but I prefer foamy cleansers especially after the gym. Vichy ProEven Brightening Cleansing Foam exfoliates ever so gently with LHA. There’s no scrubby beads that can irritate sensitive skin. With Ceramide Bright and Vitamin C, skin gets brighter and smoother every day. So happy to be using it again!

After cleansing, I spray Vichy Eau Thermale all over my face and let it sit for a few seconds, and then gently pat my face dry with a towel. I really like this thermal spring water spray! It’s nice and refreshing!

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum,Vichy ProEVEN Dark Spot Corrector,Vichy Neovadiol Magistral Elixir

Immediately after patting my face dry, I apply my HOLY GRAIL OF GRAILS hydrating serum, the Vichy Aqualia Thermal Serum. I can’t live without the stuff. As soon as I stop using it, the texture of my skin changes and starts to flake again. This is another one of those skincare products that has changed my skin for the better! If you haven’t tried this, I urge you pick one up! I’ve even convinced a few of you to give it a try, and hands up if you love it as well! Oh, and Marky LOVES this serum as well. I told Anik that I always have to send it to her since Vichy can be hard to find in California, and Anik and the lovely PR sent me an extra one to pass on to her! She is so happy and thankful!

Vichy ProEVEN Dark Spot Corrector works on ALL the surface layers of the skin to lighten skin discolourations. You can combine it with other serums as well, unlike other spot correcting serums. Most of those you have to use on freshly cleansed skin, but with ProEVEN I can use my Aqualia Thermal serum first, and then apply the Dark Spot Corrector and it will still do its job.  No breakouts at all, and my skin loves the gentle LHA exfoliation. This is a good cream to try if your skin doesn’t get along with glycolic acid or retinols like mine. And it’s awesome for keeping your skin even and bright!

Vichy Neovadiol Magistral Elixir is MAGICAL. It’s intended for those of us in menopause or close to it, but PFFT. I think it’s a great reconstructing anti-aging concentrated oil that happens to have 10% of Omegas 3-6-9. I try a lot of face oils. A LOT. This one is probably the only one that I’ve actually FINISHED a bottle of. YUP. Swear to god. It never breaks me out like most others face oils do. And my skin behaves so much better when I use it. It starts to act younger too! Making it’s own oil! Like in my 30s! Liquid GOLD I tell ya’!

Targeted Moisture

Vichy LiftActiv Supreme,Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night Spa

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Night Spa is probably one of the first moisture sleep masks to hit North America two years ago. Now, almost every brand has one, even Avon! I have quite the collection of moisture sleep masks right now, and I’ll have to do a slap-down of them at some point I promise. But this one will always be one of my top faves. I love that I can use it just as a moisturizer during the day, or layer it on and go to sleep and wake up with flake-free skin.

Vichy LiftActiv Supreme is a new moisturizer from Vichy that I really LOVE. This new moisturizer addresses that WHY DO I LOOK OLDER AT 4PM THAN I DID AT 8AM problem that starts to happen after the age of 40. I mean, it may happen when you’re younger too don’t get me wrong, but at my age it becomes really, REALLY noticeable. Formulated with apricot kernel and shea butter, this nourishing cream melts into skin, and immediately gives my skin brightness and firmness that lasts all day. It also helps fight long-term aging as well by reducing the look of wrinkles and increasing skin firmness over time. WIN.

Normaderm Hyaluspot Targeted Fast Acting Care,Vichy Capital Soleil Ultra Light Lotion SPF50

Normaderm Hyaluspot Targeted Fast Acting Care is something new from Vichy that I haven’t tried yet. As I was speaking to Anik, she recommended this be in my Vichy arsenal since I tend to break out still at this transitional period of my life. She also took into account the fact that I exercise pretty much every day, so my skin is sweaty! And that could also contribute to breakouts I experience. And this is a really different acne treatment as it contains hyaluronic acid! WHAT?! Yeah! It creates an invisible “bandage effect” on the surface to protect against external acne aggressors. It also contains salicylic acid and LHA to exfoliate. I’m excited to try this one for sure! And guess what? I actually have a small breakout from being out of town the last couple of days so PERFECT!

I mentioned to Anik that I was having problems finding a sunscreen that didn’t break me out, so she suggested I try Vichy Capital Soleil Ultra Light Lotion SPF50. It’s formulated for oily and combination skins and contains Mexoryl XL, a patented broad spectrum filtering system that protects the skin from UVA and UVB rays. It’s also enriched with Vitamin E and grape polyphenols to hydrate skin. I’m excited to add this to my sunscreens I have to test, which btw is another post I have coming up. SO BEHIND in everything right now it’s not even funny…  🙁

And there you have it! My personal Vichy Skin Care prescription! #VichyWorksForMe is an awesome idea that I think is quite cool! I really want you to try one of my favourite skincare brands and to see how it can give you your ideal skin! You’ve got nothing to lose, but you’ll finally get your ideal skin I promise! Visit and get started!

Vichy has been, and always will be one of my favourite skincare brands. Almost everything I try from the brand really works for my skin. Do you have a skincare brand that you and your skin love a lot too?

It was 21C yesterday in Edmonton, and today it’s supposed to be 18C! That means it’s time to start thinking about showing that skin of ours that’s been hiding in sweaters all winter long! And I have two Vichy products to show you that will definitely help!

Vichy Ideal Body Serum-Milk & Vichy Cellu Destock Serum Flash

 Vichy Ideal Body Serum-Milk.jpg

Vichy Ideal Body Serum-Milk, Vichy Cellu Destock Serum Flash

 Vichy Ideal Body Serum-Milk

Vichy Ideal Body Serum-Milk is quite different from other body moisturizers you’ve tried before! Why? Well, it has ingredients that are traditionally used in face products! It contains Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate and help skin look hydrated and less wrinkled. It also contains LHA which is a micro-exfoliator to help skin look smoother and firmer. But Vichy didn’t just stop there oh no! There’s TEN oils as well in Vichy Ideal Body Serum-Milk! With Apricot kernel, Passionflower, Corn, Rice Bran, Sunflower, Blackcurrant Pips, Rosehip, Coriander, Macadamia and Jojoba oils. Vichy Ideal Body Serum-Milk will intensely hydrate as well as make your skin look warm weather ready.

Vichy Ideal Body Serum-Milk.jpg

Vichy Ideal Body Serum-Milk

Vichy Ideal Body Serum-Milk($22.50) has a milky, fluid-gel texture and as you can see it’s fairly thin and spreads easily. It just melts into skin instantly and you can get dressed right after using it. No greasy basted turkey feel with this one! As you can see, there are mother-of-pearl particles to enhance the skin. They are subtle, but you can see them on your skin. The scent is quite lovely and my nose would describe it as an amber floral, and it does linger for a bit on the skin. But it’s a nice clean smell and nothing overpowering I promise. I think it’s pretty much a perfect moisturizer for warmer weather and worth picking up next time you’re at the drugstore.

Vichy Ideal Body Serum-Milk .jpg

Vichy Cellu Destock Serum Flash, Vichy Ideal Body Serum-Milk

Vichy Cellu Destock Serum Flash

Vichy Cellu Destock Serum Flash($50) is also inspired by face care serums and is formulated with 3 powerful active ingredients: 6% pure caffeine, hyaluronic acid & salicylic acid. It also has light reflecting pearls for an instant skin blurring effect. Now, this is no magic potion that’s gonna make you slimmer and cellulite free. Sorry! Believe me, I wish there was a cream that would do that! But combined with exercise, Vichy Cellu Destock Serum Flash will help your skin look smoother and firmer thanks to those ingredients. It will help out the effects of exercise quite a bit, reducing the appearance of cellulite by up to 20% in 14 days. You need to use it twice a day for optimal results, which is usually my problem with these kinds of products. I tend to forget that part! Seriously, you have to be a keener! Putting on a body product twice a day is too much work for me hahaha! So, I can’t really comment on whether the claims are true about cellulite reduction. And honestly, I can’t say this enough: exercise will REALLY make your cellulite look better. So get out there and find something you love to do and you’ll see results I promise! Vichy Cellu Destock absorbs quickly as it’s a thin, caramel tinted serum, so you can immediately get dressed after application as well. But, it does instantly make skin look better by kind of blurring imperfections, which is really cool! It smells a little herbal though, with a hint of mint. Not my fave scent to be honest, but it’s not strong at least and doesn’t last.

Both of these Vichy products well really help get your skin looking good for warmer weather I promise!

Happy Friday everyone! Warmer weather finally! I hope the weather is beautiful where you are too! But to be honest, Edmonton needs a couple of days of really good rain to clean and green things up. Everything looks so…yellow and dirty right now! Where’s the April showers Mother Nature?!

I’m really liking this new body serum trend! The texture is more my style and I actually USE them compared to heavy body butters. Have you tried a body serum yet?
