I was cleaning up my bathroom counter yesterday. I LOATHE cleaning the bathroom and leave it until I just can’t take it anymore. I wish I wasn’t like that…but eh. That’s just the way I am. I think part of the reason is that I hope-HOPE someone will clean it for me. But nobody ever does…and part of that reason is that I’m mostly alone these days. With Marky gone and Terry working out of town a lot-who’s going to clean the bathroom for you Tracy?! YOU. That’s who… 😛

Well, sad-sack story aside, the plethora of face cleansers on my counter made me laugh and cry at the same time. It also reminded me of Jen@ ProcrastinatingPretty and her post about the cleansers she uses. She had three in rotation. At this moment, I have her beat, EASILY.

Cleanser Roll Call.jpg

Cleanser Roll Call

Six, count ’em-SIX facial cleansers. Beauty Junkie, or what? Hahahaha….  😛

But, I have an explanation and a reason why each one is there, and as you can see-I do use them! They’re not just decoration! So, I thought I’d share why I like/love/loathe them, because that’s what I do. 😀

The Cleanser Workhorses

Cleanser.jpg

Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser, 3l

The Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser has been a staple for years now. Terry and I both use it. It’s a simple, no fuss foamy cleanser that never, ever dries or strips my skin. Or his. My face feels clean and soft after using it. I use this one after the gym mostly. There’s nothing like a foamy cleanser to make your sweaty, post-workout face feel clean. I also have the A-Derma Exomega Emollient Cleansing Oil in my shower and rotate between the two. To be honest, I prefer the A-Derma, but Terry likes the Cerave so I keep it on the counter.

Since I’m going to be heavily testing sunscreens soon, a cleansing oil is a must to use to make sure the sunscreen is removed from my acne-prone skin. Shu Uemura Ultime8 Sublime Beauty Cleansing Oil is the one I’m using right now. It’s in the LE packaging from the Mika for Shu Collection. After I use a cleansing oil though, I’ll pretty much always use the Cerave or the A-Derma cleanser, or one of the ones you’ll see below to double cleanse. My skin is finicky and tends to like to hang on to sunscreen like a bad cold, which clogs my pores and causes breakouts galore. Double cleansing makes sure that it’s all off and saves my face…at least that’s my theory…  😛

The Creamy Cleansers

Cleanser.jpg

Pai Camellia and Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser,Vichy Pureté Thermal 3-in-1 One Step, Avène Tolérance Extrême Cleansing Lotion Cleanser

In the morning when I wake up, I like to use a creamy cleanser and these are the ones on my counter. The Pai Camellia and Rose Gentle Hydrating Cleanser I’m trying to use up. It’s ok, but as you know I’m not all that fond of it, plus I think it’s just a rather expensive and stinky version of the next two that I love. 😛

The Vichy Pureté Thermal 3-in-1 One Step Cleanser is a creamy cleansing milk, toner, and eye makeup remover in one. Now, it won’t take off waterproof eye makeup, but it does a pretty decent job on everyday makeup. It’s a great cleanser and I usually pick it up when there’s a two-for-one special at Shopper’s Drug Mart.

Avène Tolérance Extrême Cleansing Lotion is my other favourite no-rinse cleanser. It’s perfect, especially for when my skin is starting to act up. Actually, it’s probably my fave creamy cleanser ever made. I love that it’s hermetically sealed and always sterile…it means it’s always pure and clean and GENTLE. And my skin feels good after using it…clean…soft…calm…moisturized. Plus it doesn’t smell like anything. Worth every single penny. The itchy horsey knows best I swear … 😛

Current Sample

Boscia Tsubaki Cleansing Oil-Gel.jpg

Boscia Tsubaki Cleansing Oil-Gel

As a beauty blogger, I’m always testing something. It’s one of the reasons why my face is so persnickety. My face is a guinea pig for my hobby, which of course is my choice, so no need to whine about it! But sometimes, whining makes you feel better, especially when it’s served with a great slice of yummy cheese! 🙂  Boscia Tsubaki Cleansing Oil-Gel was a sample in a Sephora order and I’m kind of enjoying it actually! It’s a gel at first, but then emulsifies into an oil when you add water. It feels nice…calming even. Plus, my skin feels clean and soft even though it does a pretty great job of removing makeup. Almost like I don’t have that MUST DOUBLE CLEANSE FEELING after using it…almost. Could be that I’m just so used to double cleansing after any oil-based cleanser, so I’m still thinking about it. I have one more sample to go through and I’ll know for sure after that! But preliminary results point to a YES.  I LIKE IT.

Sometimes, the reality of being a beauty blogger/beauty junkie is quite eye opening when you realize all the stuff you have. And use. Or DON’T use. Whatever. If I keep getting carded at Disneyland when I order a beer, I know that what I’m doing with my skincare…using..WORKS. So, Suck it Trebek.

How many cleansers are on YOUR counter? C’mon…let’s be honest here…we’re all junkies..sharing is caring!  😉

I’m going to start this post with a confession: I am NOT a cat person. Sorry! I’m just not. I mean, they’re ok-I don’t hate them or anything, but I would never want one. So when the Karl Lagerfeld Shupette for Shu Uemura Collection was announced, I wasn’t all goo-goo eyes for it like every other cat obsessed beauty blogger. To be honest, I’m not a fan of the man first of all. I mean, didn’t he steal Choupette(that’s how you actually spell the cat’s name) from someone or something like that? Who does that? And who lets Karl do that? I mean, why? I don’t get it. Wouldn’t you say: Karl, DUDE. HANDS OFF MA CAT?

Karl Lagerfeld Shupette for Shu Uemura Collection .jpg

Karl Lagerfeld Shupette for Shu Uemura Collection

The other thing that I don’t care for? Is the design of the Shu Uemura Choupette/Shupette-I mean the cartoon drawing created of it. I think it’s….creepy…*cringes while everyone screams NO IT’S NOT TRACY*

Case in point: I showed my hubby the little Shupette USB Drive and he said to me, and I quote,“Why does that cat look like Colonel Sanders?”

He’s right.
 photo SHUPETTECOMAPRISONPicMonkeyCollage.jpg

And I couldn’t stop laughing for about 30 minutes straight. 😀

Anyhoooooo, creepy Colonel Sanders Cat aside, the Karl Lagerfeld’s Shupette for Shu Uemura Collection is BEAUTIFUL. Be prepared for a lot of cat-puns in the names and descriptions… And a LOT of pictures too.

See the paw prints on the poof? There’s cat paw prints all over the collection and packaging.

I love the mesh screen! Makes it easy to get powder on the poof, although I’d use a big fluffy brush if you’re going to use this as a setting powder.

You can see the sparkles in there. And a heavy swatch really shows the pink glow you get from it.

It’s a gorgeous powder! Really finely milled and looks gorgeous on the skin. LOVE.

They have a neat design too, with a little hole so that you can pour as much glitter as your heart desires into the lid. Although, it’s a little hard to control so be careful.

The stars of the collection have to be these eyeshadow trios!

Karl Lagerfeld Shupette for Shu Uemura.jpg

What’s cool, is that you can actually remove the eyeshadows really easily and put them in another palette if you wish. I love that about Shu Shadows. You can create your own perfect palette. But, if you like the Colonel Sanders Cat, then you’d probably want to keep them in these LE Shupette cases. 😛

SEE? I die. These shadows just GLOWWWWWW, like Ice Ice Baby! So perfect for winter. I’ll be wearing this trio a lot!

The pink ones are just as awesome too!

Karl Lagerfeld Shupette for Shu Uemura.jpg

I lined my waterline with a sliver eyeliner for a little more ice! It’s winter here already, so I’m all about the icy, snow queen looks right now. That’ll last until about the end of January, when I’ll be wishing for winter to be over haha!

 photo PINKEYESCLOSEDIMG_5027.jpg

The coppery brown makes the pinks wearable don’t you think? The eyeshadows in both trios blend like a dream, and last all day over a primer.

So, even if I’m not a fan of cat stealing Karl and his Colonel Sanders Cat, I am a HUGE fan of these pieces from the Karl Lagerfeld Shupette for Shu Uemura Collection! It’s well worth checking out, and is much more affordable than other LE collections from the brand.

Whaddaya’ think? Isn’t this a pretty collection from Shu Uemura? And seriously, if you have a cat, would you let Karl steal it?

*products sent by the lovely PR for review, thoughts are mine as always because who else would compare a cat to Colonel Sanders besides me?

If you’ve never tried a Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipstick, then now’s the time! The Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks from Brave Beauty Fall 2014 come in 6 gorgeous shades. The limited edition packaging is just out of this world gorgeous.

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks from Brave Beauty Fall 2014

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks from Brave Beauty Fall 2014 are a lipstick experience! If you’re into sheer, easy to wear lipsticks, then you must try one! I know they’re pricey at $36 each, but dudes-Treat Yo’ Self! They are worth it!

Swatchy Time!

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks from Brave Beauty Fall 2014 swatches.jpg

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks from Brave Beauty Fall 2014-Orange, Beige, Maroon

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks are sheer, but buildable in pigmentation. You can really get quite a pigmented lip with a couple of swipes as you can see.

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks from Brave Beauty Fall 2014.jpg

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks from Brave Beauty Fall 2014-Orange, Beige, Maroon

What makes Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks so different from other sheer lipstick formulas like say the Chanel Rouge Coco Shines, is that they last longer. I get 3-4 hours of wear, and they fade to a pretty stain too. And unlike some sheer lipsticks, they don’t leave your lips dry as they wear off. In fact, my lips feel better after these lipsticks wear off. That’s pretty rare for me. Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks are really smooth, buttery, and moisturizing. If you aren’t a fan of lipsticks because you don’t like the way they feel, then you’ll love these. If you can’t stand having to reapply sheer lipsticks often, then Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks are also made for you!  Heck, they’re for everybody!

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks from Brave Beauty Fall 2014.jpg

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks from Brave Beauty Fall 2014 Maroon

Maroon is a pretty, sheer red with a hint of berry. It’s an easy wearing red and great for fall especially if you are scared of red lipstick. It’s not my fave shade on me though, as I think it makes me look older. Most red lipsticks do that to me.

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks from Brave Beauty Fall 2014 Orange.jpg

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks from Brave Beauty Fall 2014 Orange

I thought I was going to HATE Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipstick in Orange because the swatch was so yellowy orange. I thought there was NO way it was going to look good on me. But with the pigment of my lips, it turns darker and is my FAVOURITE of the three!

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipstick in Beige you’ve already seen on me. It’s what’s on my lips in my post on the Satin Radiant Sticks HERE. It’s a really great nude that’s not too nude, with just the right amount of peach and pink in it. A neutral nude! It goes with any smoky eye look, and also goes with any of the palettes from Brave Beauty too. It’s a great purse lipstick since you can put it on and not fear that it doesn’t go with your makeup.

Shu Uemura Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks from Brave Beauty Fall 2014 are another hit from the collection for me! You can find these lipsticks at some Hudson’s Bay counters, at Holt Renfrew, and even some Sephoras(not sure if this collection is there, but the Rouge Unlimited Lipsticks are).

What’s your favourite sheer lipstick formula? As you can tell, this one is mine!

The Shu Uemura Brave Beauty Orange Eyeshadow Palette($90C) is the next palette in the Vision Of Beauty Collection I want to show you. The collection is the first in a new series of annual collections that will explore makeup as a form of artistic expression. This year’s theme is Brave Beauty, which is a tribute to women as modern day warriors. We are all makeup warriors! I kind of like that.

Shu Uemura Brave Beauty Orange Eyeshadow Palette.jpg

Shu Uemura Brave Beauty Orange Eyeshadow Palette

The Shu Uemura Brave Beauty Orange Eyeshadow Palette is just as amazing as the Shu Uemura Brave Beauty Green Eyeshadow Palette. It’s actually quite wearable for an orange eyeshadow palette. If you’ve been scared of wearing orange eyeshadows, then this palette will change your mind! It’s absolutely gorgeous.

Swatchy time in the sunlight!

Shu Uemura Brave Beauty Orange Eyeshadow Palette.jpg

Shu Uemura Brave Beauty Orange Eyeshadow Palette

As you can see that bright orange is matte, and the other shades are beautiful shiny glowy shades that go with orange! There’s a copper brown, a light taupe, a champagne, a peach that’s not as metallic as the other shades, and a wine that’s perfect for fall. These eyeshadow shades looks like the changing leaf colours happening right now. And again, no glitter shades to be found so you can wear all of the eyeshadows ALL of the time.

Here are a couple of looks I wore while testing the Shu Uemura Brave Beauty Orange Eyeshadow Palette.

Shu Uemura Brave Beauty Orange Eyeshadow Palette.jpg

The eyeshadows are pigmented, soft, buttery in texture, blend like a dream and last all day. I can’t find anything bad to say about them at all.

Shu Uemura Brave Beauty Orange Eyeshadow Palette.jpg

I know that these palettes are expensive here in Canada, but honestly they are so worth the money. The shadows in this one, and the others as well are some of the best eyeshadows I’ve ever used. And right now if you use the code GIFT20 when you order $75 worth of products on www.shuuemura.ca you’ll get $20 off your order!

If you share some of your Shu Uemura Brave Beauty looks on Instagram with the hashtag #BraveBeauty, your look will be included in the hashtag gallery on shuuemura.ca and their Facebook page. PLUS, you’ll be entered to win an entire vision of beauty collection and an artist edition vol.01 lash set worth a total value of $1500!

Whaddaya’ think? Are you willing to try orange eyeshadow now?

I think I’ll try to post about the pink palette later today, so that I can review the cheeks and lips from the collection tomorrow! Starting to get a backlog of things to review around here, so I better get my big butt in motion haha!

The Shu Uemura Vision of Beauty Vol. 1-Brave Beauty Collection is something else I tell you! It’s nothing short of amazing. I haven’t been this impressed with a makeup collection in a while I think!

This is quite the collection, so I’m going to have to divide up my reviews because I feel each of these gorgeous eyeshadow palettes deserve a post of their own, don’t you think?

HEYYY? As you can see that amazing teal/emerald green is matte, and the other shades of green include olive, mint, apple and forest. The best thing about all of these Brave Beauty palettes is that there’s none of those glitter shades that are usually included in limited edition Shu Palettes. Don’t get me wrong, I love the glitters from Shu, but it’s so refreshing that this time I can use ALL of the shades ALL of the time.

The eyeshadows in the Shu Uemura Brave Beauty Green Eyeshadow Palette are so pigmented, so soft, blend so easily-they’re pretty perfect if you ask me.

Can you see how pretty they are? From afar they look so amazing too! The shadows just glow! Especially that minty one I used as an inner eye highlight. There are so many combinations of  green eye looks you could create with this palette that you’d never tire of it!

Ok, here’s a look I did today using the matte green:

I’ll be showing you the other products and palettes in Brave Beauty as the days go by I promise, so stay tuned!

Happy Friday everyone! Are you a green eyeshadow fan? What do you think of this palette then? And does makeup makeup you braver? It’s an interesting point that I’d love to hear your thoughts about!

*products sent by the amazingly lovely PR, who I must thank for my extra pink gift! You are the BEST. Oh, and thoughts about these Shu products are mine as always. It would be Shu Uemura that would turn me into a green eyeshadow fan!

THIS is why I love Shu Uemura:

I want women to enjoy make-up more freely”

                                                          -Shu Uemura

Right? I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but that’s EXACTLY what I’ve been trying to get across lately here on the ‘ole blog. Sometimes, us makeup lovers take things too seriously imo. I know, for some it’s hard with work rules and all. But really, even if you can’t go full-on crazy with colour like I like to do, there’s ALWAYS a way to inject a little bit of fun into your makeup, right? Life’s too short to have an endless supply of browns and neutrals in our makeup.

And the Shu Uemura Eye Event Summer Collection 2014 is all about that! It’s full of colours and textures that will just inspire you to create playful eye make-up!

Let’s start with the Shu Uemura Prêt-à-Palette in Pink Hues($85).

Shu Uemura Prêt-à-Palette in Pink Hues.jpg

Shu Uemura Prêt-à-Palette in Pink Hues

Hello NURSE, is this a palette custom made for Tracy or what? I don’t even want to USE any other eyeshadows since this palette showed up on my doorstep! With one matte base, two shades to define, and three colours to shade? It’s the perfect pink palette! What else could I possible need?

The shades from left to right are matte smokey dark purple, matte smokey dark blush pink, G pink 35, pearl rosy pink, ME light pink 126, M soft beige 813.  Shu Uemura eyeshadows are an experience that you need to have some day if you love makeup. I think their eyeshades blend all by themselves, swear to the makeup gods. The glitter shades which are the G shades are the only ones I could do without, but then I use them and think PRETTY. GLITTER. LOVE. So, eh-there’s a place for them in my makeup for sure!

Shu Uemura Drawing Pencils: ME green 51, G Gold 93, M Black 01, M Chesnut Brown 81

The star of the Shu Uemura Eye Event Summer Collection 2014 are the Drawing Pencils ($28). So soft, so blendable, waterproof, colourful and come in four different textures-they are AMAZING.

These are advanced pencil eyeliners, inspired by Shu Uemura’s Atelier Pro Palette. The blend of double waxes allows for soft and smooth drawing while staying solid. These pencils are amazing at filling in the gaps at the lash root and blended into the skin for natural looking definition. Or you can blend them into other colours for some really cool looks. I’m really digging that there are four textures too-mattes to define, mattes to shade and sculpt, light shades, glitter shades for brilliance, and one amazing matte white that Tracy DEFINITELY NEEDS LIKE YESTERDAY.

The shades with glitter don’t swatch all that well, but ignore that! On the eye? Divine! And boy they stay put that’s for sure!

Ok, enough chit-chat, let’s see these products in action!

Shu Uemura Prêt-à-Palette in Pink Hues

I love these Shu Uemura Eye Event Summer Collection 2014 products A LOT. The shadows are amazing, the liners are so smooth and easy to apply and last all day long no matter what.

Wait! I forgot to talk about the Shu Uemura Petal Lash Mascara($29), which also is part of the Shu Uemura Eye Event Summer Collection 2014. It’s an all-in-one-eye-opening mascara that curls, gives length and volume, yet still looks natural.

Shu Uemura Petal Lash Mascara.jpg

Shu Uemura Petal Lash Mascara

The pink blossom applicator was created for Asian eyes. It has a curved brush, and the bristle lengths are designed to fit well for Asian eyes. Meaning, it catches every last lash when you apply the mascara, spreading the formula from the roots to the tips. The wider base is what separates each lash.

Shu Uemura Petal Lash Mascara.jpg

Shu Uemura Petal Lash Mascara

Shu Uemura Petal Lash Mascara is also waterproof and MAN is it ever. It’s a bit hard to remove, and you’ll for sure need a waterproof makeup remover and even then, you’ll have to really do some rubbing! But it has some bamboo in the formula, so your lashes don’t feel crispy which I appreciate. If you have problems with your mascara always smudging on you, then this is one you’d LOVE. This is the mascara I’m taking with me on our road trip to California to drop Marky off at college, which is HOLY COMING UP QUICKLY YOU GUYZZZZ. UGGGGH. Imma’ gonna need to stock up on kleenex boxes for the trip home….   🙁

You can find all of the Shu Uemura Eye Event Summer Collection 2014 at Shu counters across Canada at Holts and Sephora, or online at www.shuuemura.ca. And in the USA, you can order online as well. OH and guess what!

There are 3 other eye shadow palettes that are JUST as amazing as the pink one. The warm brown one looks perfect. Personally, I have my eye on the Blue Morning Palette because you know-it’s blue. And I love blues!  And there are 21 shades of Drawing Pencils to choose from! You really need to check out the Shu Uemura Eye Event Summer Collection 2014!

Oh, and one more thing too! Share your summer looks on Instagram with the @shuuemurausa beauty community! Use #eyeloveshu in your photo caption to have your look featured in Shu’s summer eye gallery! You can even win $1000 worth of Shu Uemura makeup too!

How’s it going? I feel like I’ve been too busy and too sick to really connect with you all lately! But I’m here to tell you I’m feeling SO MUCH better now. And power walking even! Life’s good when all is well with your health, hey?  😀

*products sent by the lovely PR for review, thoughts are mine ask always and HEYYY can I say I’m so HAPPY that Shu Uemura thinks the same way about makeup as me? SO FREAKIN’ COOL.

Ok, let’s finish off the Mika For Shu – Shu Uemura Summer 2014 posts with the Mika For Shu Eye Shadow Spiral Duos($60)!

The swirls are a combo of light to dark shades, with the orange one having swirls of  yellow and white mixed in there. Sparkles! The brown eyeshadow has none of them, and the pink one is a very subtle shimmer.

The Mika For Shu Eye Shadow Spiral Duos are classic Shu eyeshadow textures. Smooth, blend like a dream, albeit a bit sheerer this time. But with bright shades like these, sheer is the way to go as they won’t look so overdone and WOW you’ve got a lotta colour on your eyes, if you know what I mean.

They’re outer corner lashes, which I like a lot! So much easier to apply and wear. The lashes are so pretty with pink, orange and yellow lashes encrusted with stars. Usually I find these collection false lashes from Shu way over the top, but these are really pretty on the eyes! They’d be perfect for prom, grad, any party! Highly recommend them!

There are also some Mika Nail Stickers, but for the life of me I can’t find them now! I really need to get organized around here haha. You can take a look at them here on the site if they interest you!

You can find the Mika For Shu False Eyelashes and Mika For Shu Eye Shadow Spiral Duos wherever Shu Uemura is sold! In Canada that’s at Holts, select Sephoras and some Bays and online as well. In the USA you can order online as well.

So, whaddaya’ think of the Mika For Shu Collection? Anything really speak to you? I do recommend trying one of the Tint in Gelato for sure. Even though I don’t like them on the lips, I think they are quite lovely on the cheek! In case you missed my blog post on them,  check it out HERE.
