“A highly active concentrate of advanced hyaluronic complexes, next-generation peptides and biotechnological technologies to target rehydration on and below skin surface, while visibly improving lines, wrinkles, sagging skin and textural damage.”

When I received Deciem Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age to test out, to be honest I kind of got all CHEST PUFFED OUT AND DEFENSIVE, as if I was a member of SAMCRO(been watching SOA and WOW, LOVE). Because when a product claims to show VISIBLE RESULTS IN 10 DAYS… I get all roll-up-my-sleeves-show-me-what-you-got and commit completely to that so called magic product, to see what it’s REALLY got to prove…if anything!

BRING. IT. ON….Boooooooyahahahahahaha

And I’m serious! When I test out skincare, I really DO test it out. I give up all faves and HGs, to see if these new products really DO work. I figure if it doesn’t do something for my 48 year old skin, then forget it working for young 20-something skin. Ahh, those days… when I could use pretty much nothing on my skin and it was SO lovely and good… sometimes I wonder if screwing around with skincare makes your skin go NO. LEAVE. ME. BE. Curious thought, no?

Anyways… So Ok, Long story short…I started using Deciem Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age Advanced Serum every day and night and only Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age Advanced Serum since it arrived at my doorstep and you know what?

WORKS. REALLY WELL.

Deciem Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age and Hylamide SubQ Eyes

Deciem Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age and Hylamide SubQ Eyes .jpg

Deciem Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age and Hylamide SubQ Eyes

Deciem Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age Advanced Serum($38) contains five forms of hyaluronic compounds to target multiple depths of your skin(which EHHHH, again I find hard to believe…honestly you need a friggin NEEDLE to start getting skincare to touch some of those deeper skin levels) 😉 But, it does contain non-animal-origin Hyaluronic Acid that targets surface hydration and elasticity. It also has two forms of very-low-molecular Hyaluronic Complex that absorbs quickly to target below the surface rehydration, and a Hyaluronic Acid pre-cursor that helps to visibly plump skin up. There’s a tamarind-derived plant hyaluronic that gives immediate and long-term rehydration too and I can attest to THAT claim for sure…to be honest I haven’t really used a moisturizing cream since starting to use this serum….I don’t seem to need anything else! My skin feels so GOOD. Moisturized and lovely! Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age Advanced Serum also contains an Antarctic and Hawaiian Algae Complex to promote renewal and help prevent moisture loss, so I guess that’s why I’m experiencing perfectly hydrated skin! And living here in dry Alberta? That’s something! My skin always feels so dry here. Parched. I really notice it when I’m in California visiting Marky. There’s so much more humidity in the air over there, and wow…my skin LIKES it there. It behaves so differently when I’m California Dreamin’, not even kidding. I have a separate skin care routine for California and trust me, it’s so much more simple than my Alberta routine. I don’t need to hydrate as much when I’m down there! Guess it’s another sign I belong down there, hey? 😉

Deciem Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age Advanced Serum.jpg

Deciem Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age Advanced Serum

Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age Advanced Serum contains Palmitoyl Tripeptide-38+  which is an advanced form of Matrixyl (TM of Sederma)  that helps to reduce the look of lines, wrinkles and surface irregularities. Nonapeptide-3 Retino-Complex+ is a novel technology that promotes better visible anti-aging results than Retinol without irritation. And as someone who suffers from using any kind of Retinol product, I can honestly say this stuff does NOT irritate, OR break me out. Every other friggin’ retinol product does that to me…no matter HOW gentle it claims to be. I break out. End of story. But this? NOPE. It’s like a miracle for me.

Heres’ what I can tell you…and I cross my heart and stick a needle in my eye if I lie: The pores around and on my nose have been getting worse and worse as I age. Nothing was getting those suckers to look better. But Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age Advanced Serum? Worked like a CHARM. Now, I’m not an idiot…nothing can really make pores smaller. But this stuff? Has kind of made them look less visible…better…makeup goes on so much better and doesn’t settle in them ugly pores so bad now. My skin looks SMOOTHER. Brighter! So much so that I don’t feel the need to cover it up with makeup and foundation! I honestly haven’t had such great results from a skincare product in YEARS, it’s that amazing to me. My skin looks really GOOD lately, and that’s an amazing thing to say when you are 48 years old. Just try to make me stop using Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age Advanced Serum…you’ll find yourself booted onto Kepler 452b TOOT SWEET… 🙂

Deciem Hylamide SubQ Eye.jpg

Deciem Hylamide SubQ Eyes

Deciem Hylamide SubQ Eyes($35) is just as good too! It contains a Flavanoid Glucoside Bio-active to help encourage circulation and reduce visible darkness under the eyes. It also contains a Darutoside complex for a lifted upper lid appearance and reduced visible sagginess, which I say works. One of my eyes is more hooded than the other, so I really notice a difference when I don’t use Hylamide SubQ Eyes. My eyes really look more open and lifted when I use this! It also has stuff to reduce the look of lines around the eyes, and YUP. It did that for me too. I mean, they’re still there? I’m 48 so HELLO…lines around the eyes are mandatory at this point. But Hylamide SubQ Eyes has made them less visible…not so deep. It WORKS. The only crit I have has to do with the packaging with this product. The dropper isn’t quite long enough to get all the serum out. I had to use a Q-tip to get all the god stuff out, but that’s the case with most products packaged like this.

Deciem Hylamide SubQ Eyes and Deciem Hylamide SubQ Anti-Age have worked SO WELL for me, that I’ve already purchased replacements, and have started using them now. These two products are AMAZING, and it’s not often that I actually purchase skincare sent to me for free. But these? WORK. And you can’t stop me from using them. EVER. Order these products, and cripes…everything Deciem sells HERE. STUFF WORKS.

Both of these Deciem Hylamide products have changed my skin so much that I really do urge you to give them a try! They are affordable. And work! REALLY WELL. And that? Is something these days in the makeup/skincare world! Have you tried a skincare product recently that just WOWED you? It’s pretty rare!

Eraclea skincare is a new skincare line that I’ve recently been introduced to. Each product by eraclea contains a combination of hyaluronic acid sponges and hyaluronic acids of various molecular weights, called the HylaSponge System. The HylaSponge System acts like a “second skin” or equilibrium barrier. It hydrates the skin’s surface layer and helps push hydration toward the skin’s deeper layers.

What’s cool about eraclea, is that you could use them, or your hubby or SO could use them. Heck, if you find that your guy is dipping into your skincare anyways, why not both of you use the same skincare line then? Totally possible with eraclea!

eraclea skincare.jpg

eraclea skincare

Eraclea has found that products like its Pure Hydration are excellent for men after a close shave(no stinging!) and a day in the sun, so that got them thinking about a unisex skincare regimen for the summer. Now, this is a great idea if you both have the same skin type! These three products from eraclea are great for you couples that both have oilier, or combination skin.

eraclea skincare.jpg

eraclea pure hydration serum/zinc

Eraclea Pure Hydration Serum/Zinc ($80) is a great moisture-intensive serum that rejuvenates and replenishes the skin, promotes healing and reduces redness. It’s a thin, watery serum with no fragrance at all. It absorbs instantly, leaving a smooth finish to skin. It’s perfect for those that don’t like that dewy, tacky feeling that serums and moisturizers can leave on your face. I love it. I put my sunscreen, or a BB Cream on top of this serum and I’m good to go. No suffocated skin! No breakouts! And my hubby loves it as well. He has very acne-prone skin, and this lightweight serum he actually uses since it feels like nothing on the skin.

 photo IMG_5093.jpg

eraclea skincare daily bamboo exfoliant

Eraclea’s Daily Bamboo Exfoliant($40) helps increase skin cell turnover rate and resurfaces the skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, pores, age spots, discolorations and acne scars. This is my favourite product and it’s really great! I love using a manual exfoliator like this, although every day is too much for my sensitive skin. This one is really gentle though, and not overly abrasive at all. It’s great for guys to use to get an even closer shave. If there’s one skincare product you should get for your SO, an exfoliant like this one is what I recommend for sure. And this has none of those plastic beads that are clogging up lakes. Perfect!

eraclea skincare 5.jpg

eraclea skincare intensive repair and protect serum/vitamin c

Eraclea’s Intensive Repair and Protect Serum/Vitamin C ($75) works to protect against cell damage, accelerate cell renewal and improve texture.  It has a nice and thin texture with no fragrances and absorbs quickly. Man, it works really well! I think Vitamin C is a must in skincare, and not a lot of guys use it. Let your SO use this one and he’ll be asking for more I promise! It evens out skin tone, reduce wrinkles, and will help make sunscreen more effective. A must have for both of you!

Kind of a neat idea, hey? Sharing? Especially when traveling I think it’d be nice to be able to share skincare products for sure. And if you can’t fathom sharing, or are too attached to your current skincare products, then just get some eraclea for your SO. Most of the skincare that’s out there and targeted towards men really does nothing for them. These products will actually give them results!

Do you buy skincare for your SO?

*products sent by PR for consideration, thoughts are mine as always! 😀

7 out of 10 women recognize that they do at least one daily action that affects their skin quality. So, Vichy has developed an entirely NEW approach to skin aging, taking a new factor into account: our behaviour.

We all know that it’s not just genetics that affect how we age. The numerous small actions of daily life also play a part, like not taking off makeup before bed, or forgoing sunscreen, etc. These little actions  or in-actions can and do have a negative effect on our skin aging process. If you look at identical twins with the same genes, they won’t have the same skin quality or visible age because of their behaviour, and that’s what Vichy refers to as “behavioural aging”. Some of the things that Vichy is calling a factor in behavioural aging like pollution and dry weather I disagree with, as I think those are environmental factors that are beyond our control. I mean I live in Alberta and it’s DRY here. I moisturize like nobody’s business, but the only way for me to fix that factor is to move! And to convince my hubby that we need to just pick up and move someplace humid  for the sake of my skin won’t go over really well hahaha! But I guess there are people that live here that don’t moisturize enough, so I guess it could be considered a behavioural aging factor then. But the other factors they consider in behavioural aging I totally agree with like lack of sleep, stress, unbalanced diet, lack or exercise, UV rays-all of those things we can control to some degree.

Behavioural aging affects our skin quality in four ways: Complexion colour, skin tone, facial features that look droopy and tired, and skin texture.

SCIENCE-Y TIME!

Vichy Idealia Life Serum

Vichy Idealia Serum($59 CDN) has an exclusive correcting complex LR2412+LHA. LR2412 is a molecule created from a jasmine flower’s repairing acid. Apparently, a jasmine flower undergoes a lot of daily aggressors! Who knew?! I guess it’s tough being one of the pretty smelling flowers haha! This acid repairs those daily attacks and will help repair in real time the damages of our life excesses on the skin. LHA is a salicylic acid derivative that stimulates cellular renewal by gentle exfoliation. These two components work together to drastically improve overall skin quality by refining pores, improving skin texture and boosting radiance.

Vichy Idealia Life Serum is a serum that leaves the skin instantly smoothed, plumped, fresh and soft.  It’s really silky in texture and has golden and red pearls that add this luminous glow to your skin. I immediately look more rested and radiant after application. It works really well as a makeup primer, as it leaves a smoothness to the skin so makeup just glides on easily. Vichy Idealia Life Serum smells really fresh and lightly floral just so you know-nothing offensive and it does dissipate quickly.

 photo IMG_8904.jpg

Vichy Idealia Life Serum -see the red and gold in it?

I only use Vichy Idealia Life Serum in the morning before my makeup, as it does leave that pearly glow on the skin. Call me crazy, but I just don’t think I need the glowy stuff on my face for bed haha! My skin has improved since I’ve been using it over the past month as it does look more glowing and hydrated. No breakouts either from it! A lot of new skin care testing happens on my face, and often enough a new product will cause a breakout. I have to say that every time I test out something from Vichy I never have to worry about that so YAY! My skin feels smoother as well, so I’ll keep on using it that’s for sure! Since I tend to favour powder foundations, Vichy Idealia Life Serum gives a nice glow under them so that my skin doesn’t look too matte and flat.

You can find Vichy Idealia Life Serum at most drugstores across Canada right now.

Whaddaya think? Do you agree with Vichy’s assessment that our behaviour affects how we age?

*product sent by the lovely Vichy PR, and I thank her for the glowy skin!  [emoji white smiling face]

Wanna know what’s the #1 Serum in Canadian drugstores?

Vichy LifActiv Serum 10 And Vichy LifActiv Serum 10 Eyes And Lashes

It’s Vichy LifActiv Serum 10! And I think the Vichy LifActiv Serum 10 Eyes And Lashes is running a close second now!

After 10 years of reasearch, Vichy discovered the power of Derm Source, a specific skin layer able to command skin regeneration. But around that magic age of forty, its activity decreases and it needs to be stimulated.(I’ll tell you this from experience-EVERYTHING needs to stimulated after the age of forty [emoji white smiling face]). Vichy identified and patented the only ingredient that effectively targets the Derm Source, 5% Rhamnose which is a naturally occurring sugar isolated from plants. Rhamnose pinpoints the collagen-making cells and encourages fibroblasts to be more active,  improving collagen production, elastin production and cellular turnover. The result is younger, firmer, more even-toned and less wrinkled skin. SIGN ME UP BABY.

Let’s talk about Vichy LifActiv Serum 10  first, shall we? Vichy LifActiv Serum 10 has a concentration of 10% Rhamnose. The bottle has a dropper, so that makes for easy dispensing as it is quite liquidy. I’d say about half a dropper will easily cover your face and neck.

 photo IMG_6204.jpg

Vichy LifActiv Serum 10

Vichy claims that in 10 minutes you’ll notice a lifting effect and your wrinkles will be less noticeable. YUP. It’s kind of amazing actually-I noticed right away that the skin around my eyes and forehead had less lines the first time I used it. FIRST TIME. It leaves your skin feeling really soft and velvety too, absorbing quickly. Twice a day is the recommended use and if you love serums like I do, then this is one of the best ones I’ve tried!

Just as amazing, if not even MORE amazing is the Vichy LifActiv Serum 10 Eyes And Lashes. I don’t even know what else to say except this: GET THIS STUFF NOW.

Vichy LifActiv Serum 10 Eyes And Lashes is the first eye serum made to treat all your eye aging concerns, PLUS it helps your lashes look thicker and BETTER. You use it twice a day, alone or under another eye cream if you need more moisture. I use it just by itself and find it hydrating enough for my dry skin. This is by far the best eye product I’ve ever used because I can put it all over my eyes, my lids(they get old looking too and most eye creams you can’t use on them) and lashes, and it doesn’t sting or hurt at all like others do. Heck, I even put it on my brows! The texture is divine and leaves skin velvety smooth, absorbing quickly so it doesn’t mess with your concealer. In about 10 minutes the magic happens: the wrinkles around my eyes look better and my eyes look brighter and more awake too.

I’ve been using Vichy LifActiv Serum 10 Eyes And Lashes for 2 weeks now and my lashes look darker and thicker, that I even feel comfortable leaving the house without mascara on! And you know what? Even my eyebrows are looking better! LOVE! [emoji black heart suit]

Vichy is a brand that I am really falling in love with you guys! Skin care that delivers-what’s not to love, right? Right!

You can find Vichy products at most drugstores in Canada.

I’m almost certain that the Vichy LifActiv Serum 10 Eyes and Lashes is THE ONE you guys, and I’m ready to shun all other eye products from now on! I love it that much! Do you have a HG eye serum/cream? What is it?

*product sent by the lovely Vichy PR, and my already good lashes that are even better thank her so much!  [emoji white smiling face]

I am LOVING the world of L’Oreal right now! They are stepping up their drugstore skincare game and making some pretty AWESOME and AFFORDABLE skincare that beats a lot of high end skincare I’ve tried. Seriously you guys-this is a game changer for me.
I’ll admit it-I’m a huge skincare snob. Well, not huge, but semi-huge. 🙂 I am of the mindset that great, quality, effective skincare starts in about the $60 range. I haven’t quite graduated to the insanely priced high end skincare that’s out there, but I have used some expensive cult products like La Mer and SK-II, but nothing that’s cost over $150. That’s my limit. I have to put a kid through college for cripes sake, and as you can tell by my chubby cheeks-I likes to eat. 🙂

L’Oreal Paris is changing my whole skincare/money/efficacy mindset with their new products:

 photo IMG_1618.jpg

This is the L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Texture Perfector line. And it PINK. HOLY IT’S PINK. And even shmexxxxxy!!!!

 photo IMG_1621.jpg

L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Texture Perfector products are supposed to give you smoother, more even skin in as little as one week. It perfects your skin by enhancing your natural regeneration process by exfoliating dead skin cells, and it improves elasticity too. Sign me up baby!! Although, this is a skincare line targeted at those of you that are experiencing the first signs of ageing-you know-fine lines, uneven skin tone and texture-I think I’ve passed that milestone about 20 years ago HAHAHA. Actually, I should be crying after writing that, but strangely enough I’m ok with it! I don’t actually have many deep wrinkles at my age (STAY OUT OF THE SUN GUYS), so I feel I can still use this stuff. But being the awesome mama that I am, I did a mommy sacrifice and passed the set along to Marky, so let’s see what she has to say after 1 week of using the set!

L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Texture Perfector Serum Concentrate($29.99 CDN)-really light, absorbs quickly, feels nice and refreshing and smells good.

L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Texture Perfector Day/Night Cream($29.99 CDN)– isn’t greasy and actually leaves a matte finish which I like, smells good, and no breakouts!

I think this is a great skincare set for anyone starting to notice the first signs of aging like fine lines and uneven skin tone. What’s important for Marky and I’m sure most young women out there, is skincare that doesn’t cause breakouts, and so far so good. What she has noticed is smoother skin and brighter skin, so that’s something! It’s actually working! What I love about the L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Texture Perfector line is that there’s a serum. Serums are something that I think everyone should use, and I feel not enough young people use them. If you don’t use a serum, then here’s WHY you should be: they are concentrated formulas that are full of active ingredients like vitamins and antioxidants so they are actually MORE effective than just a moisturizer. They are usually designed for really specific problems you want to address like acne, wrinkles, pigmentation, and therefore you’re more likely to see results if you use one. Why? They’re more readily absorbed into your skin, and can penetrate deeper into the epidermis. The moisturizer that usually accompanies a serum is the icing on the cake, and locks in the benefits of a serum. So the L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Texture Perfector Line has got it right! It’s a great first anti-ageing skincare duo that will get you going in the right direction, and it’s affordable.

You can find L’Oreal Paris Youth Code Texture Perfector Serum and Day/Night Cream at most drugstores and retailers right now. If anything, at least pick up the serum! Your epidermis will thank you! And you can thank me by sending BLUSH to P.O. BOX BLUSH FIENDS, Edmonton, AB, Canada. I should change my REAL address to that one, hey?

Whaddaya think? isn’t L’Oreal Paris doing something amazing with their skincare? And do you use a serum? Please tell me you do….

Skincare post #2 for today! This one is a more affordable version though!

Clarins has relaunched their Double Serum and if you are a fan, then you’re going to love this new version!

 photo IMG_9172.jpg

Clarins Double Serum

What is unique about Clarins Double Serum is the dual chamber system. One side contains the hydro or water phase while the other side contains the lipo(fats) phase and when you depress the pump, you combine the two together. Cool! One pump is all you need to cover your face and neck.

Clarins Double Serum Complete Age Control Concentrate($85 CDN) contains 20 pure plant extracts like Organic quinoa and green tea extract, Maritime pine extract, organic rosehip oil, Organic green banana extract, thyme and bocoa, Organic perilla and macadamia oils, Katafray bark extract and hyaluronic acid to name just a few. It claims to make skin firmer, reduce wrinkles, minimize pores and improve the overall skin tone. It has a very herbal citrus scent to it which is rather pleasant actually.

One ingredient I have to mention that’s in Clarins Double Serum is mineral oil, and for some people that ingredient seems to be a contentious issue. Yes, mineral oil is cheap, but it is one of the best occlusive agents around and really does keep moisture IN you skin. However for some people(like me) it can cause breakouts to happen which is what I experienced. I found it rather heavy and oily feeling and it does take a long time to completely absorb into the skin, so I would recommend using this at night only. It’s apparently made for every skin type and every age, and I’ve heard some people with oily skin have had a great experience with Clarins Double Serum, though I honestly do think it’s really best suited for very, very dry skins that don’t tend to break out easily.

If this(or ANY skincare item I review) intrigues you then I do suggest getting a sample first before plunking down your hard earned cash on it, especially if you are like me and tend to break out easily. I knew after a few days that this wasn’t suited for my skin because of the nasty visitors on my chin and forehead. It’s a shame, as it is really interesting!

Do you avoid mineral oil in your skincare? Does it bother you when companies include it in their products?

*product provided by PR for review, thoughts and breakouts were my own thank you very much;)

I have a few new and amazing skincare items to show you today! Let’s start with Lancome, shall we? since this is probably one of the first Lancome skincare items I’ve tried. EVER.

Lancome has been one of the pioneers in the study of stem cells and has been researching their regenerative abilities for 20 years now. Who knew, hey? Lancome research has some of the most advanced knowledge about the skin regeneration process and believes that every woman, whatever her age has the possibility of attaining skin that is healthy, toned, and happy. I like the sounds of that!

Lancome Absolue Sublime Regenerating Oleo-Serum

New Lancome Absolue Sublime Regenerating Oleo-Serum ($190 CDN) is protected by 9 patents. For the first time, Lemon essential oil’s benefit is used in a skincare product. 200 kg of zest is needed to make on kilogram of essential oil, which is collected by a cold press method to preserve the nature of the components. That’s a lot of lemons and I hope they make some lemonade after haha! Lemon Essential oil is then combined with Camellia and Babassu oils(which is from the Amazonia Babassu nut) which are rich in essential fatty acids and have structures similar to lipids in our skin. Lancome Absolue Sublime Regenerating Oleo-Serum is a new texture in skincare that blends oils with the melt-away texture of a serum. The result is a glowy, velvety finish unlike anything you’ve ever experienced, also resulting in visibly glowing skin right at first application. Lancome Absolue Sublime Regenerating Oleo-Serum has a unique fragrance as well-you can smell the Lancome Rose Heart, but also mandarin and bergamot as well. It’s quite a scent at first that is surprising for a skincare item, but gorgeous! It doesn’t linger though, so if scents bother you just beware. I enjoy scents in my face creams and serums like this one as it adds to the whole sensory experience and gives a feeling of luxury.

Lancome Absolue Sublime Regenerating Oleo-Serum

I’ve been using Lancome Absolue Sublime Regenerating Oleo-Serum for about 2 weeks now and every day my skin is looking better and better. There’s a glow to my skin when I wake up in the morning that wasn’t there lately. My skin tone is looking more even and bright too. I have to say, my skin is loving this! I test out a lot of skincare, and more often than not, new skincare tends to break me out. Not this one. And honestly, it usually takes weeks for me to notice a difference in my skin, but again-not with this one. I noticed a difference within a week.  I’m already saving up my coins to make sure I can replenish this when it runs out!  When I was younger I would have balked at a product price tag like this for sure, and you may as well. But at my age skincare is now my #1 priority and I’m willing to pay the high price tag to keep seeing these results. Gotta fight the fight and keep the skin looking as young as possible especially with the grey hair now!  As much I don’t like to admit it, it is rather ageing having grey hair, so my new focus is keeping my skin looking as good as possible.

You can get this amazing new hybrid oil-serum and see the difference it makes in your skin come mid-June at all Lancome Counters and on Lancome.ca. I was at Shoppers Drug Mart on the weekend, and it was available there right now though! And that made me happy because I can use my Optimum Points to redeem for this if I want to which is awesome.

How about you? I know a lot of you are YEARS AND YEARS younger than I am,  but at some point-will you be willing to pay more for skincare?

*Product provided by PR for review, experience and thoughts are my own thank you very much. 🙂
