Ok, so if you haven’t heard yet, I am quitting beauty blogging. It’s been a long time coming, but I’ve finally made the decision and you know what? I am SO HAPPY. It’s just time for me to go.

I have a month left on my server before the blog disappears, so I thought I’d just blog about stuff I’ve been wanting to talk about but have been too busy and not very motivated to. So, before I say Aloha to you all, welcome to: THE LAST BLOG POSTS. This, is gonna be FUN hahahahahahahahaha…….

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum:When You Wanna Keep that Hot Dog Smell With You All Day Long

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum.jpg

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum

It seems like pretty much everybody uses and loves Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum, but for the longest time it wasn’t sold here in Canada(it is now). Last year sometime, I picked it up in California and it sat in my skincare backup drawer because I really love my Hylamide C-25 Booster and wanted to use up my vial before cracking this expensive puppy open.

What do I like? The packaging. I like the airless pump. It’s great. That’s about it though. I really didn’t notice anything life changing about it, and it’s not any better than my cheaper love, the Hylamide C-25 Booster.

Other than the cool pump I can honestly and unequivocally say that I FREAKIN’ HATE THIS STUFF.

Now, usually I’m ok with scents in facial products. I know that most of the time they shouldn’t be there and that they can cause reactions for people, but hey sue me-I like a nice rose scent or violet scent when I apply my skincare. It doesn’t bother me. Usually.

But this stuff? STINKS. Like hot dogs. And the stink lasts for quite awhile too. I don’t care what people say about how good it is, I can’t stand walking around with my face smelling like a hot dog for hours and hours. Like WHY.

So now, I have this expensive meat sandwich stinking Vitamin C serum sitting in my drawer that I should use, but don’t wanna because I can’t stand the smell. Sigh. Third World Problems really suck, hey? 😉

Have you tried this? Do you notice the hot dog smell? Or am I just an always hungry freak?

As I age, I find that keeping my skin radiant and luminous really helps me look younger. And I have to tell you about Farmacy Invincible Root Cell Anti-Aging Serum, because this has been my new skincare love for the past month. And if you’re like me and wanting to stock up on skincare during the Sephora Spring Sale this week, then you need to know about this awesome product and pick it up to try!

Farmacy Invincible Root Cell Anti-Aging Serum

Farmacy Beauty has become one of my favourite skincare discoveries this year. Everything I try from them I really love. Their whole philosophy of using farm-grown botanicals and then fusing age-old wisdom with cutting-edge technology to create irritant-free bioactive formulations just makes me SMILE. You see, I have a problem when skincare uses plant-based bioactive botanicals. Active plant ingredients usually make me break out. But Pharmacy Beauty is my dream come true as none of the products, including Farmacy Invincible Root Cell Anti-Aging Serum has irritated or broken me out, so YAY!

This serum from Farmacy Beauty helps to improve the skin’s radiance and luminosity, even skin tone, and improve the appearance of crow’s-feet. Farmacy Beauty Invincible Root Cell Anti-Aging Serum is powered by Green Envy™ which is in all of their products. Mark Veeder, co-founder of Farmacy Beauty, is the developer of a patent protected form of Echinacea. Yeah, the immunity boosting plant! This plant is a unique variant of Echinacea Purpurea which contains the highest known concentration of Cichoric Acid. Cichoric Acid inhibits the enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid in the human body and protects collagen from free radical damage. Cichoric Acid also normalizes the skin pigmentation process to give a more even-toned complexion. Farmacy Invincible Root Cell Anti-Aging Serum contains the highest percentage of Echinacea GreenEnvy of all the products in the Pharmacy line, so this is the star product in my eyes and the one to get if you want serious results!

You can use Farmacy Beauty Invincible Root Cell Anti-Aging Serum day or night. I prefer to use it at night myself. The screw-on dropper cap is so cool too! You just press down on the top of the dropper and then remove it with a perfect dose for your face and neck. I just apply to clean skin with an outward and upward pressing motion -never rub your skincare products in a downward motion. You’re just helping gravity out there my friends and believe me, she is a harsh mistress and doesn’t need our help at all haha! It’s a clear, watery serum that absorbs pretty quickly and doesn’t leave my face tacky at all. then follow up with a night moisturizer of my choice, and I’ve been testing the Sleep Tight Firming Night Balm and it’s pretty great stuff too! But I’ll talk about that one another time. 😉

Check out Farmacy Beauty at http://www.farmacybeauty.com/ and learn more about their awesome products. You can even order from their site as well.

But hey! I have a little giveaway for you guys!

Farmacy Sleep Tight Firming Night Balm

I have an extra mini Farmacy Sleep Tight Firming Night Balm for someone to try! Let’s just do this the old fashioned way and leave me a comment on this post. Tell me what your favourite thing about spring is! I’ll let the giveaway go on for a week, until April 15th. It’ll be open internationally too. I’ll pick a random winner from the comments and announce it in a blog post and on my Facebook page as well. Good luck!

Are you going to pick up any skincare during the Sephora Spring Sale?

It always amazes me when someone tells me that they don’t use a serum?! Baffles me in fact. Serums typically have at least 3-5 times the concentration of active ingredients compared to creams! Why wound’t you want that on your face? There’s nothing better than a good serum to target your skin woes: wrinkles, dehydration, redness, radiance-and if you can find one that does it all? WIN.

Avène Hydrance Optimale Serum

Avène Hydrance Optimale Serum

And I have found a winner! Avène Hydrance Optimale Serum($44) is a new(well, last year new) addition to the Avene Hydrance Optimale line. It’s the next best option to bathing in the Avene Thermal Spring waters in France I swear.

Avène Hydrance Optimale Serum has the HIGHEST concentration(77%) of Avène Thermal Spring water of any product they make. And you all know how good that water is for your skin-it’s rich in silicates and trace elements, has perfectly balanced minerals, a neutral pH, and as the horsey found out for us-is a naturally soothing anti-irritant.

The other amazing thing about Avène Hydrance Optimale Serumis that it adjusts to your skin’s hydration levels according to its NEEDS. Yeah-it’s a smart serum!

Avène Hydrance Optimale Serum has liposomes-tiny bubbles (vesicle), made out of the same material as a cell membrane. Liposomes can be filled with different things, and in Avene Hydrance Optimale Serum they’re filled with-you guessed it- Avene Thermal Spring Water! Because these water saturated liposomes are similar to cell membranes, they can just slide on into the deep layers of our skin and diffuse that good for us spring water deep into the very core of our skin cells. These liposomes in Avène Hydrance Optimale Serum are contained in a hydrophilic(water attracting) 3D Matrix made of marine polymer filaments, which forms a kind of reservoir on the skin’s surface. It adjusts to your skin’s moisture needs-releasing Avene Thermal Spring Water when your cells need it, all day long.

The texture of Avène Hydrance Optimale Serum is a smooth, light gel that instantly gets absorbed in your skin. My skin just drinks it right up! Immediately your skin will feel refreshed, cool, smooth, and any tightness and redness is relieved. There’s apparently a subtle fragrance, but I can barely smell it-if anything the serum just smells fresh. If any of you are bothered by the fragrance of the Vichy Aqualia Serum, then this one will be more your style. I love the Avène Hydrance Optimale Serum and use it all the time now. My skin looks healthy, moisturized and since I’ve been using Avène products, I hardly have any facial redness anymore.

Oh, and if you want your skin to look healthy, moisturized and GLOWING? Layer some Avène Soothing Moisture mask OVER the Avène Hydrance Optimale Serum! Yeah you heard me, use it like a MOISTURIZER.

Avène Hydrance Optimale Serum and Avène Soothing Moisture Mask

The lovely Janine@BeautyGeeks mentioned this little trick last week in my moisture mask smack-down post and something clicked for me when she said it. I had done the EXACT same thing one day when my skin was extra-dry. I applied a bit of the Avène Soothing Moisture mask over the serum and then let it sink in for a minute or so. Then I applied my NARS Tinted Moisturizer over top, and WOW. I was glowing! My skin looked so smooth and dewy! And I looked YOUNGER. Try it! I almost can’t put on my makeup now without using both of these products first 😛  I’m addicted to the glow!

I know what you’re wondering-do I like Avène Hydrance Optimale Serum better than the Vichy Aqualia Serum? I like them both, and find that they both do an amazing job of keeping skin hydrated through the day. It’s good to have options I say. Right now, I’m using the Avène and loving it. 😀

Do you use serums? Please tell me yes! What’s your favourite?
