Hey HOW YOU DOIN’?

I know, I’m a bad blogger. PFFT. I don’t pretend that this is my full time job so… if you are still around reading this then YAY… thanks man. To be honest I really don’t care anymore and this is the last dang time I apologize for not posting often enough…Either you like me, or you don’t, so…HA. DEAL DUDES.

Anyways…Dior Summer 2016 unexpectedly showed up on my doorstep one morning. Yeah, usually I have to email the PR and ask heyyyyyy……remember me?!! I used to do that. Not anymore, because I don’t give a rat’s ass now and won’t beg for crap to show up here. Especially Dior, because I’m not a huge Dior Fangirl as you know.  So, I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn’t forgotten this time…although let’s see what happens down the road hey? 😛 I tend to tick off a lot of PR because I don’t blog for any brand and their free stuff..I blog because well…I like chatting with you all.

Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette #536 Escapade

So today I’m going to tell you my thoughts about Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette #536 Escapade. Because it’s the one that most people seemed to gasp at when I showed it on Instagram? And I don’t know why, because honestly the colours aren’t that amazing or unique? It kind of surprised me to be honest.

Swatchy Time!

Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette #536 Escapade .jpg

Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette #536 Escapade

They’re typical Dior shadows…slightly powdery and dry, but blend nicely. Not a lot of pigment either. Like I said, typical Dior. Click to enlarge the images below to get a better look.

Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette #536 Escapade

I mean I like the palette? But it takes A LOT OF WORK to get these looks I created-especially the more pastel one I created. The brown one wasn’t hard at all, but that’s just not a very unique look at all now, is it? Unless you are totally new to this makeup game, I’m sure you all have a nice golden warm brown eyeshadow in your collection by now. And the peach shade is rather paltry in this palette… I’d much rather use MAC Paradisco for a bazinga! peach shade on my lids. That one doesn’t take TONS of layering to show up like the one in Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette #536 Escapade did.

Again Dior, you just kind of fall in that I ALMOST LIKE IT ENOUGH TO BUY IT category….but just not quite there. I mean, this isn’t a cheap palette here in Canada, costing $72 which is LUDICROUS, so I’m not going to tell you that this is a MUST buy if it doesn’t WOW me…and this just didn’t do that. Sorry Dior. You can do better. I’m just waiting for that day…whether it comes soon is another question…I wait with bated breath. 😛

Summer collections are the ones that typically disappoint me…what about you? I just don’t get summer collections at all. I hardly buy any summer makeup as they just aren’t my style at all. You?

00Hey!! How YOU doing’ this week? Are you glad it’s Friday? I am! Although, every Friday I go to Zumba, and today I’ll be missing it because my fave teacher isn’t going to be there. 🙁

11219513_10153092143027007_6541165641176371405_n

I’ve said it before, Zumba Subs SUCK…but I do have to get used to other instructors because she’s not going to be teaching in the daytime as of January 2016!! ACCCKKKKKKkkkkkkkk my heart….HURTS just thinking about it. She is so full of JOY when she dances, and I love that about her. She will keep teaching every Saturday at another facility that’s about 25 minutes away, so I’ll be making that trek for sure now come January. I will have to drive for my weekly Zumba Kick!

McDonald’s has PEANUTS toys with Happy Meals, so…..

 photo IMG_3210.jpg

I didn’t get the meal…just the toy PLEASE and THANK YOU hahaha #NeverGrowUp #CantMakeME
I need to go see the Peanuts movie SOON!! When Terry is in town next week maybe! It’s killing me not seeing it yet!

I went on a little Alberta Adventure this week to two towns that have deep, deep roots in the Ukrainian Alberta history here. First stop was Vegreville, Alberta which is about an hour east of Edmonton. If you have any doubts about this being a Ukie town, they’ll be squashed once you feast your eyes upon this:

 photo IMG_3220.jpg

World’s largest Pysanka or Ukrainian Easter Egg, Vegreville, Alberta

Yep, that’s the world’s largest Pysanka, or Ukrainian Easter Egg in the whole world. And it spins when the wind hits it…hours of entertainment as one of my buddies on Instagram said.

When I visit these towns in Alberta, I like to visit the churches-most of the towns in Alberta were started and settled by Ukrainian Immigrants, so the churches are a pretty vital part of the community. I swear my peoples OWN this province HAHAHA!

 photo IMG_3232.jpg

Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Vegreville, Alberta

The Holy Trinity Catholic Church it pretty typical of Catholic Ukrainian churches here with the gleaning silver domes-really pretty!

 photo IMG_3222.jpg

St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church, Vegreville, Alberta

St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church is very atypical for a Ukrainian church! The shape/architecture is so 70s-leads me to believe that this was rebuilt at some point? I don’t know for sure, but it’s pretty groovy looking for a church, hey? Even the domes are different! Btw, domes are the way you can spot a Ukrainian church MILES away…always gotta have domes!

But like most Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Churches, it has a gorgeous tile mosaic on the front.

 photo IMG_3227.jpg

St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Greek Orthodox Church, Vegreville, Alberta

So much work…so much beauty! I’m actually Ukrainian Greek Orthodox baptized…Terry is a Catholic Ukrainian. One day I’ll have to show you my church in Winnipeg…the one I grew up in…and it happens to be the head church in Canada…it’s MAGNIFICENT.

Next stop was the small town of Mundare, which is another Ukrainian community as you can tell by the town statue:

 photo IMG_3243.jpg

Mundare Giant Sausage Statue

Yup, that the largest Kobasa in the world….it’s a memorial to the founder of Stawnichy’s Sausage which is HUGE in Alberta. Good stuff. And if you happen to visit Mundare on a day they’re smoking the sausages, it’s like SMELL-O-VISION around this…thing…hahaha…yeah.

Elk Island National Park is not far from Edmonton, and since we have a yearly pass to the national parks, we stopped in for a bit!

Elk Island National Park

Everything is so frozen there now!

Yup…it’s been cold I guess! Frozen Beaver Dam on a frozen little lake…so pretty.

Elk Island National Park

I don’t get why the park is called Elk Island because it’s all about the bison here! And they are so amazing! These guys were so careful before crossing the highway…they kept looking and checking to make sure no cars were moving before they skipped over…it was amazing to see!

I guess I should talk about SOME beauty products hey HAHA!

Ok, these Yves Rocher Botanical Eye Pencils are REALLY GOOD!!

 L'Occitane Grand Re-opening at WEM.jpg

Yves Rocher Botanical Eye Pencils

Seriously, so many colours and I should probably name them all for you but dudes, there’s like FOURTEEN of them there and it was hard enough peeling off the wrapping from each one…took me 15 minutes I swear so…not happening haha #myteethhurtfrombitingthewrappingoff  AND…I’m too tired to look up the names so SORRY…not really  😛  Honestly, it’s pretty easy to tell what shade is which if you do fancy one of them. Right now they’re only $9.95 and I think that’s pretty decent for an eyeliner that stays put really well. I say go for the crazy lemon, orange and greens! And the teals, if you are a #tealwhore like me and Gaelle @Gaelle’s Journal.

NARS Steven Klein One Shocking Moment Blush Palette

I’m really liking this NARS Steven Klein One Shocking Moment Blush Palette. I’ve pretty much gotten rid of most of my blushes, so this purchase was almost needed haha! I’ve actually never had any of these NARS shades in this palette(some are new of course), and it’s kind of perfect for when I travel. It has a contour/highlight duo and a bronzer too so, easy sell to a blush fiend!

 L'Occitane Grand Re-opening at WEM.jpg

NARS Steven Klein One Shocking Moment Blush Palette

I like it. A LOT. Worth every penny in my eyes!

I happened to be at West Edmonton Mall the other day…why I can’t remember? But I happened to notice that there was a new L’Occitane store being built a few doors down from the current one. And I’ve been told by a little birdie that the Grand Re-Opening is this Friday Nov. 13th, with special promotions going on until Sunday Nov. 15th. It’s a gorgeous newly renovated space that’s BIGGER! BETTER! And there’s some special promotions happening too that you might want to take advantage of fellow Edmontonians:

· From Friday to Sunday, enjoy 15% off any $30 purchase.

· The first 100 customers will receive a free gift with a purchase of $30 or more.

· There will be beverages and a selection of French pastries from Passion de France.

Dudes, I’m going just for the PASTRIES I mean, HELLOooooo! But seriously, L’Occitane is kind of awesome! They’ve partnered with Dress for Success®, an international not-for-profit that promotes the economic independence for disadvantaged women by providing them with professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

 L'Occitane Grand Re-opening at WEM

For every Star Gift Box sold during the festive season, $10 will be donated to Dress for Success, up to a $120K donation on behalf of L’OCCITANE North America. HOW AMAZING is THAT? So, if you’re at the new store this weekend, buy a gift box!! You’ll be helping and empowering another woman that needs to be told they CAN…which is what we should all do! Make me proud my fellow Beauty Junkies and let’s do some GOOD!!

Happy Weekend all! I hope you have a lovely weekend! And I leave you with my new fave song from The Peanuts Movie, which we dance to at Zumba…it’s so cute it makes me smile/happy cry every time I hear it…my new theme song! Sing OH AYE OH!!!  😀

Pür Minerals will always be one of my favourite mineral makeup lines. Their 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Powder is one of my favourite powder foundations actually. I’ve been using it forever. It’s the fastest way to a flawless makeup. But I’ve never really tried much else from the line, which I think was a BIG mistake.

The Pür Minerals Love Your Selfie Palette($49) is freakin’ AMAZING.

Pür Minerals Love Your Selfie Palette.jpg

Pür Minerals Love Your Selfie Palette

The Pür Minerals Love Your Selfie is a travel-friendly kit that’s filled with everything you need to get a picture perfect makeup look. Inside the palette are eight limited edition eyes shadow shades, a lip gloss, mascara, and three face powders-a bronzer, blush and highlighter. What else do you need?

Shades from left to right: Exposure, Fade, Filter, Photobomb, Flash, Capture, Sepia, Closeup

 photo oPicMonkey Collage.jpg

The eyeshadows are pretty great! There’s a nice mix of mattes and shimmers in the palette. The only shade I had some problem with was Photobomb, the purple one, and that’s because there’s glitters in it. I think it’s better used as a liner. Everything else blends nicely and stays put over a primer all day. I love the shades too, as they’re all so easy to wear. This is going to be my permanent travel palette from now on. Yup.

You get a deluxe sample size of the Pür Minerals Big Look Mascara too.

Pür Minerals Big Look Mascara.jpg

Pür Minerals Big Look Mascara

I like it! It’s got Argan Oil in it, so it leaves your lashes nice and soft. It gives nice definition, and the brush I like too-it’s one of those spiky silicone wands, but it’s doesn’t hurt at all. It stays put on me too, with no smudging. AND it doesn’t sting or hurt my eyes when I remove it. I’m going to get a full-size one as soon as I’m finished with this one for sure.

The palette also contains face products too, so it’s Face and Lips Swatchy Time!

Mineral Glow Bronzer, Chateau Cheeks Blush In Savvy, Afterglow illuminating Powder, and  in Exposed

The Pür Minerals Mineral Glow Bronzer is wow! I’ve tried this bronzer before, but it’s a lot prettier than I remember it being! It’s really natural looking, and makes an amazing contour too. The Chateau Cheeks Blush In Savvy is a warm pink that goes with everything and looks really pretty on the cheeks. And the Afterglow Illuminating Powder is one of the best highlighters I’ve tried in a long time! It doesn’t emphasize any fine lines or wrinkles and gives a really pretty, natural looking highlight. Last, there’s a full size of the Chateau Kisses Lip Gloss in Exposed, which is a great, neutral rose gloss that’s quite pigmented. And it’s not sticky at all. I don’t do sticky glosses at all. It’s really moisturizing too! It’s an anti-aging gloss, with Resveratrox from Bordeaux grapes to help reduce lip lines and wrinkles, and also plumps up your lips(no tingle plumping though).

Wearing and loving the Pür Minerals Love Your Selfie palette

I really, REALLY love this palette! It’s simple and I’m all about simple lately. I’ve been getting rid of a lot of makeup that I just don’t use, but this palette is staying with me. It’s just too awesome, and I know I’ll use it a lot, especially when I travel. I think the Pür Minerals Love Your Selfie is a palette that’s worth getting if :

1. You’re interested in trying the best that Pür Minerals has to offer

2. Need a great travel makeup palette, because this is IT

3. You love Pür Minerals

4: Because there’s a really awesome Instagram Contest you can enter if you get it!

In Canada you can find Pür Minerals at Shopper’s Drug Marts, and on The Shopping Channel too! In the USA you can order online at www.purminerals.com or find them at Ulta.

What’s your favourite travel makeup palette? Have you tried anything from Pür Minerals? What else should I try that’s good?

I really love the whole idea and meaning behind the Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection:

EXPRESSION. Release your inner artist and become your own canvas!

Now, that’s an idea AND a collection I can get behind! I’m all for inner expression…I am after all, a child of the 70s and early 80s to be exact…EXPRESSION. That time, those years, was ALL about expression! And this Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection kinda’ has that 70s, 80s makeup experimentation vibe to it! And? It’s MY JAM. As we used to say back then, in the olden makeup days...I DIG IT.  😛

Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection.jpg

Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, NOBODY does packaging like Lise Watier! It’s always my favourite. I mean seriously…who can compete with THAT. PFFFFFFT. Nobody I tell ya’.

Let’s look at the star of the Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection, the Limited Edition Palette Expression for eyes($42):

Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection.jpg

Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection, Palette Expression for Eyes

Five creamy and pigmented eyeshadows in the amazing Lise Watier cream-powder formula with finishes of semi-matte to iridescent are just gorgeous and WOW. And tell me that they DON’T have a 70s, early 80s vibe to them…I mean C’MON.. LOOK at that baby blue aqua shade! I dies…  😛

And on the eyes, these shadows just GLOW!

I love it! You could make that khaki green shade the focus and tone down the whole look, but I say WHY. Embrace the brights! This is such a lovely and pretty look for spring! And YES…if you are my age we can totally pull this look off! We did it before, and we can do it again! HIGH FIVE MY LADIES!

The blush! The Lise Watier Expression Blush Trio($38)! The texture is divine! It’s really soft in texture and in pigment as well.

You can use each shade separately, but eh-Tracy just swirls them all together because I am an impatient blush fiend these days 😛 I just want blush NOW hahaha!

Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection.jpg

Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection-wearing the Expression Eye Palette and Expression Blush Trio

It could be a tad more pigmented, but it’s really lovely! I do think this is a blush for pale gals like myself, and I think if you’re darker than NC20 in MAC talk, this probably won’t be a blush for you.

Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection.jpg

Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection, Lise Watier Expression Eye Shine

The Lise Watier Expression Eye Shine is an amazing, charcoal grey liner!

And there’s a new shade in the Feline Eyeliner HD($20), Vert, a dark turquoise green that’s oh so lovely.

Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection.jpg

Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection, Feline Eyeliner HD Vert

And probably my FAVOURITE product in the whole collection is the Lise Watier Ombre Soufflè($24) in the new shade Fairy Pink. OMG. LOVE. This is pretty much the ONLY cream eyeshadow that lasts on my dastardly oily lids. I love the formula so much, that I’ve even got another shade or two during the last Shoppers Optimum Redemption, and THAT is something folks. I could be redeeming for Guerlain, but nope! Lise Watier made the cut baby! I take my free makeup seriously yo. I kind of agonize when I’m redeeming…weighing the pros and cons of products and brands…but it wasn’t a hard decision to redeem for another Lise Water Ombre Soufflè because I think they are THAT GOOD. Get one. You’ll thank me later. 😀

There’s a Limited Edition Rouge Gourmand Velours lipstick in the shade Expression of course!

Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection Limited Edition Rouge Gourmand Velours in Expression

Lise Watier Rouge Gourmand Velours($22) are Canada’s No.1 matte lipstick, and for good reason! They are comfortable! With Jojoba oil in the formula, they are smooth and creamy and not drying at all.

Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection.jpg

Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection Limited Edition Rouge Gourmand Velours in Expression

Expression is a gorgeous, matte, rosy coral that’s pretty perfect for spring.  It’s bright and happy! Just what we need right now! I don’t know about you, but I’ve been pulling out all my bright lipsticks and wearing them …and hoping that wearing them will get rid of winter…so far, it’s not working hahaha…but maybe this week it finally WILL work! To tell you the truth, I feel kind of gypped lately. When I first moved to Alberta, spring started about NOW. Yup. I remember there being hardly any snow by mid March when I first moved here…and even when Marky was little! But lately the snow hasn’t disappeared until late MAY folks…and I say…WHERE’S THE GLOBAL WARMING HEY. WHERE. Hahaha…and don’t worry…I DO believe in Global Warming…but I think weather patterns sometimes can over-ride that..which amazes me.

Anyhoooooo! I know people get their makeup wands all entangled in seasonal high end brand releases like Dior and Chanel. Which still…after all these years I’ve been blogging, kind of amazes me. Because honestly? There’s really not that much new, or GOOD there. I can’t say it any other way except: STOP BUYING INTO THE MAKEUP LABELS. It’s time to start exploring OUR makeup, CANADIAN makeup. Because this Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection? And pretty much most of her line? Is SO much better than those high end designer brands. If you’re not buying Lise Watier, I’m sorry but you are missing out my friend. And you friends of mine in the USA, you do know that you can order online! Yeah, shipping is expensive and I know that’s hard to swallow when you live in the land of FREE SHIPPING NO MATTER WHAT. But us Canadians have had to deal with high shipping costs all of our lives, and it’s really not that bad…especially when something is SO GOOD. Like Lise Watier…it’s WORTH it. Do it. And tell me I was wrong… I freakin’ DARE YOU.

What’s been YOUR favourite Spring Makeup Collection so far? And, if you read my blog regularly, do ya’ see what I mean about how different Spring Collections are from brand to brand? This is why it’s my favourite makeup season I swear!

So yeah. I pretty much HATED that Dior Highlighter from the 2014 Dior Golden Shock Collection. It’s probably one of the WORST products I’ve tried this year. And if anybody else tells you something different? I”VE GOT A COUPLE OF ACRES OF LAND TO SELL YOU NEAR THE ALBERTA OIL SANDS. Seriously.  😛

I’m SUCH a bad blogger. Sorry, no bowing to brands here. Never EVER gonna happen. I don’t sell my soul for free makeup. It’s just not my style.

But, I do have a soft spot for Dior Eyeshadows. They never seem to work for me though, so I don’t understand my soft spot. Maybe it’s just a fleeting, hopeful wish?  I do love their colour combos though. I think the problem I’ve had with them is the formula. WAY too glittery for Tracy. And just kind of meh quality wise. If you’ve noticed, I don’t really hold an allegiance to these designer brands. I truly and honestly think that they ride the makeup train on their whole DESIGNER reputation. And I don’t really care about that rep. I’m a punk at heart, and labels really bother me to be honest. I’m not a brand sheep. Never have been, never will be. I’ll be the old lady in the nursing home wearing camo pants from Army Navy(Canadian, no-name, cheap store) wheeling around in my HAND powered wheelchair(no battery is gonna tell me how to roll) singing NO FUTURE FOR YOUuuuuuuu hahahahaha. It’s a pretty appropriate nursing home song, right?

But since Dior has reformulated their eyeshadows? I’m kinda’ digging’ them. Not completely, cause I can’t be bought THAT easily hahaha. I need a few good palettes in my life before I say YOU GOOD TO GO DIOR. 😛 And this is one so far…

There are two Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow palettes in the Golden Shock 2014 Makeup Collection and I’m going to show you the one that I think is worth splurging on.

Behold, Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette #046 Golden Reflections($61)!

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette #046 Golden Reflections.jpg

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette #046 Golden Reflections

Swatchy Time!

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette #046 Golden Reflections.jpg

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette #046 Golden Reflections

Swatches pretty good for a Dior Palette I have to say! What impresses me is that there is a matte shade in the palette now. All be it, it’s the lightest shade, but at least they tried haha! But that grey shade? The light one? LOVE. It’s kinda’ matte with some fine glitter. And that olive gold? DIVINE. Those two shades are awesome.

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette #046 Golden Reflections.jpg

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette #046 Golden Reflections

What makes Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette #046 Golden Reflections work for me is the combination of warm and cool. Most Holiday eye shadow palettes feature golds. And reds. And MORE golds. I hate golds. I really do. But this palette combines warm greeny golds with cool greys and I LOVE how they look on my eyes combined together. It’s like makeup colour theory heaven I tell ya’.

Oh, and did you know you can use Dior Shadows WET? Because that’s what I did here:

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette #046 Golden Reflections.jpg

Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette #046 Golden Reflections

That glittery gold eyeshadow in the centre of the palette is meant for dabbing on the eyes as a little extra oomph. It’s not full of pigment, so it’s not gonna do anything special for you, so know that. The other shades in the Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette #046 Golden Reflections are pretty great though! Blend easily, pretty pigmented, I LIKE. Still glittery, but not as bad as before. I like this palette, and think you could get a lot of use out of this one. Even if you’re a punk, 47 year old that still fights the man…one designer eye palette at a time… 😛

You can find the Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette #046 Golden Reflections at The Bay, and maybe some select Shopper’s Drug Marts too? Not sure. But what I do know is that you won’t find them at Sephora, so don’t bother looking there. Sephora snub oh!

Whaddaya’ think? Worth the splurge? Or not? I like this palette, but Dior is not one of my go-to brands. I really like their lipsticks though! And a few other things I guess, but most of the real colour products? Never been a fan of. How about you? Do you hold an allegiance to a designer makeup brand that can’t be broken?

*product sent by PR for review, and I thank them! But thoughts as always are mine. Makeup doesn’t pay the bills yo’.
