I have some shower stuffs I’ve been LOVING lately that I need to tell you about, so let’s start with the one that is breaking my heart, because I CAN’T FIND IT AT THE DRUGSTORE YET. And I’m almost out!

New Nuxe Prodigieux Shower Oil $16

Nuxe Prodigieux Shower Oil.jpg

Nuxe Prodigieux Shower Oil

If you’re a fan of the Nuxe Huile Prodigiuese, then you’re going to adore the Nuxe Prodigieux Shower Oil, or the Prodigieux Hulle de Douche. It smells just like the oil-that dreamy blend of Sweet Almond Oil, Orange Blossom, Magnolia and Vanilla that just screams summer. Or fall. Or winter for that matter, because I love the scent all year round. And now, you can take a shower with that scent! It’s got the golden particles from the shimmery version of the oil too, but I don’t notice any golden particles on my skin after I shower, thank goodness. I don’t like sparkles on my skin as you know.

Just a little bit of water on your shower poof with a few squirts of Nuxe Prodigieux Shower Oil and this amazing fine foam that feels so fluffy lathers up and gently cleanses your skin with that delicious scent… I LOVES IT. And it leaves your skin super soft too! But hey, do top it off with some of the oil, because you want to keep that scent going if you’re like me. And by the way, there’s a parfum of the scent too! Which I also haven’t seen yet…I’ll keep stalking the drugstore aisles until I finally get my hands on that too.

The Nuxe Prodigieux Shower Oil is supposed to be available in stores as of May, but I haven’t seen it yet and I am almost out. SO I AM WORRIED. Please let me know if you spot it in stores! It’s going to be available at The Bay, Shopper’s Drug Mart, Sears, Murale and the usual stores in Quebec.

Are you a fan of the scent of Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse too?  Are you as excited as I am about this shower oil too?

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm has a pretty cult-like following in the beauty world and it’s well-deserved! But did you know that there’s a whole range of Nuxe Rêve de Miel products that will replenish, soothe and repair dry and sensitive skin? And that they’re mostly natural and contain no parabens?

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Winter Care

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Winter Care

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Makeup Remover and Facial Cleansing Gel $19

This soap-free cleanser with honey and sunflower smells so GOOD. Like honey and flowers together! I love using this in the morning because of the lovely scent. It makes waking up smell so pretty! I massage a bit of the gel onto damp skin and then rinse it off. My face feels so smooth and soft after, and not dry at all. I find it does an ok job at taking off my makeup too, but I don’t wear a lot of heavy foundations. If you do, I’d use a makeup wipe first.

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Hand and Nail Cream $17

My new favourite hand cream! With Honey, Sunflower, Precious oils and Vitamin E it does an awesome job of nourishing and moisturizing dry hands. And it smells so good too! Same scent as the face cleanser, just a bit longer lasting. I swear I can pick out orange blossom and even some lilac in the Nuxe Rêve de Miel scent. It’s kind of addicting! It’s such a comforting scent, that is especially lovely right now in the dead of winter. Although it’s RAINING here right now. It’s the weirdest thing when it rains on top of snow…. and not the safest to walk on after let me tell you.

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm $17

I’ve been using this lip balm for years now, and I am never without it. And I always send some to Marky in California too. It’s my favourite lip balm at bedtime because it stays put on my lips and doesn’t disappear during the night. Right now I’m suffering from cold sores, and they’re at the extremely painful stage where they’re drying up and trying to heal. I apply a tiny bit on them to prevent the cracking and bleeding that’s ruining my days right now hahaha. Works like a charm! Oh, and btw-it’s a GREAT cuticle softener too!

There’s also a day cream and a body cream in the Nuxe Rêve de Miel line and I know I’m getting those as soon as I can get to a Shoppers Drug Mart. I haven’t been to one in quite awhile actually! See, that’s what being sick does to you-interferes with your Shoppers Optimum Points gathering!

Have you tried any of these Nuxe products? Once you do, you’ll never be without I promise!

Those of you that are around my age probably remember using this excuse to get out of a date on Saturday night: Sorry, I have to wash my hair on Saturday night.  Yup, that seriously was an excuse we used to give, and honestly it really wasn’t the reason you didn’t want to go out, it was because of this:

And Fantasy Island! And then, Saturday Night Live! Steve Martin, Dan Akroyd, Gilda Radner, Jon Belushi-the good ole’ days of SNL! Saturday was a great night to stay home and catch up on your beauty routine while watching  some of your favourite TV shows. Which, also included washing your hair, so it’s not like we were really lying HAHAHA.

Fastforward to now, thirty years later, and I’ll still give any excuse to not have to leave the house on Saturday night. I love staying in on Saturdays and doing some beauty detoxing. Especially this week! All the turkey, chocolate, Baileys-UGGGH. I really feel the need to detox big time!

Here’s what’s on my detox menu tonight:

Nuxe Bio Beauté by Nuxe Vitamin Rich Detox Mask

Nuxe Bio Beauté by Nuxe Vitamin Rich Detox Mask.jpg

Nuxe Bio Beauté by Nuxe Vitamin Rich Detox Mask

Nuxe Bio Beauté by Nuxe Vitamin Rich Detox Mask($27) is a deep, pore cleansing mask that uses no clay at all. Say what? Yup. No Clay. No mud. Nada.

 photo IMG_5842.jpg

It’s a thick, sticky gel that smells good enough to eat, and it probably is. BIO Beaute is Nuxe’s natural and organic line. Myrtle Leaf Extract will help detoxify, and Orange, Lemon and Mandarin Essential Oils will clarify the skin. This my friends, is the detox mask you’ve been waiting for if you’re like me and most clay ones suck out every last drop of moisture from your face. The directions say to apply Nuxe Bio Beauté by Nuxe Vitamin Rich Detox Mask and leave it on for 5 minutes. What I do, is apply it and then make myself some tea. Chamomile please. In a skull mug, because we’re detoxifying remember?

 photo IMG_5847.jpg

About 30 minutes later, I’ll massage the gel into my skin and BAZINGA! It starts to change into an oil, lifting out any clogged dirt in my pores, especially around my nose. I take my time massaging the oil and let it really get the job done. Then, add a bit of water and that oil starts to emulsify-just like an oil-cleanser. Once the mask is rinsed off, I’m left with clear, hydrated, skin. Pores are clean! It’s my favourite mask right now, and I use it every week to keep my skin clear.

Dinner tonight will be something light! Vegetable soup with a side of roasted garlic broccoli. YUMMM. I made this soup last week and we’re having it again tonight. It’s a great, light detoxing meal.

2 cans chicken broth (I use low-sodium)
3 cups V-8 juice (Again, I use low-sodium V8 or tomato juice)
2 cans Italian diced tomatoes(no salt)
1 small onion
2 cloves minced garlic
1 package sliced mushrooms
3 carrots, peeled and sliced
1 zucchini, diced
1 yellow squash, diced
2 cups fresh or frozen green beans
1 can kidney beans, drained and rinsed
3-4 cups shredded cabbage
1 tsp. Italian seasoning
Salt and Pepper to taste

Sauté the garlic, onions, carrots, and mushrooms for about 5 minutes in a large pan sprayed with some cooking spray. Add to a large crockpot, with the remaining ingredients. Cook on high for 2-3 hours, or until vegetables are cooked. EASY! And tasty too. This recipe makes a LOT of soup and it freezes well.

And when it’s time for bed, I’ll continue my skin detox while I sleep with Nuxellence Detox.

Nuxellence Detox

Nuxellence Detox

Our skin cells produce waste, just like our bodies. To be able to renew, cells need to detoxify. And that happens at night, when we go to sleep.

How do skin cells detoxify? Science-y time!

-Glutiathione, an antioxidant converts toxins into easily eliminated water-soluble elements
-Proteasomes, a protein degradation “machine” within the cell that can digest a variety of proteins and recycle damaged ones
-Autolysis, which is a more comprehensive system that destroys all damaged proteins and cell components.

Until now, most skincare products worked on targeting the proteasomes to detoxify. But they get overwhelmed when there’s an overload and buildup of toxins. That’s when Autolysis steps in to compensate. But as we age, there’s a general slowdown and our natural cell detoxing isn’t as effective. Nuxellence Detox($65) promotes Autolysis to help keep cell detoxification young and working by using an extract of silk tree and sugars. It increases the enzymes that are necessary for keeping these detox systems humming along. Nuxellence Detox also helps repair altered Mitochondrial DNA to restore cells’ vital energy, so that detox is even more effective.

Now, you are supposed to use Nuxellence Detox every night, but I can’t as it’s quite powerful for me. If you have stronger and more resilient skin then you’d be fine, but I use it about 3 times a week, and it’s especially effective using it after the Nuxe Bio Beauté by Nuxe Vitamin Rich Detox Mask. It smells floral, but not overpowering at all and the scent doesn’t linger. You can even put another night cream on top if you wish, but I usually don’t. Sometimes I’ll put a face oil on top if my skin is feeling extra parched. But tomorrow morning, my skin will look fresher, brighter, cleaner-younger! I will look rested and radiant, as if I’ve had slept for an extra 2 hours says Nuxe and I say YUP! I really do look like I’ve had my beauty sleep when I use Nuxellence Detox!

Well, time to go get started on my soup and start my Saturday Night Detox! There’s no favourite TV shows on Saturdays anymore, so I’ll probably watch a movie with Marky tonight. Last Saturday night home with the redhead!

Do you have a detox beauty routine too? What products do you use?
