Mark Summer 2014 Nail This Look Nail Lacquers and Bracelets

I’m really getting a major 80s vibe from Mark lately!

This set SCREAMS 80s. Take a look at the Mark Summer 2014 Nail This Look Nail Lacquers and Bracelets($28)!

NEAT, huh?

Mark Summer 2014 Nail This Look Nail Lacquers and Bracelets

The bracelets are stretchy so they should fit most wrists. They even fit my big boned wrists with some room which is great! I think they’re coloured enamel too, as they have some weight to them.

Nail Polish Swatches are on tape, sorry! But as you know, I just HATE doing nail polish posts. I’m just not into nails, and not a nail blogger AT ALL. But these are super cute and I felt the need to show! Either feast your eyes on my awesome polish tape swatches, or look away. It’s really up to you. :P Personally, I think my tape polish swatches are pretty dang PERFECT hahahaha. I have great technique, dontcha’ think? :D

Mark Summer 2014 Nail This Look Nail Lacquers Orange Blast and Pink Spark

The Mark Summer 2014 Nail This Look Nail Lacquers Orange Blast and Pink Spark are jellies that dry to a semi-matte finish. Orange Blast seems a bit more opaque than Pink Spark though, just so you know. These are mini-sized and each bottle will give you 10 manis. Drying time is super quick too, which is great in the summer because who has time to wait for nail polish to dry when the whether is gorgeous, right? Right!

You can order the set from your local Avon Rep, or online at www.avon.ca.

Do you coordinate your nail polish with your bracelets and rings? It’s kind of a neat idea actually.

*product sent by PR for review, thoughts are mine-as are the nail polish tape swatches. Took me YEARS to perfect my technique, but I’m willing to teach anybody if they’re interested. :D

Mark Nail This Look Nail Color and Bracelet Set

I’m kind of behind on the whole Valentine’s Day gift thingy, as truthfully I think it’s a made up holiday. But I’ll be posting some Valentine’s Gifts that I thought are pretty sweet and have NO CALORIES! Some of these are great options, especially if your sweetie is trying to get healthy and has lost 7 pounds so far (THAT’S ME SO WAHOO!!) and as much as I’m SURE she LOVES chocolate(because I do-I REALLY REALLY DO), getting her something that is NOT chocolate is SO much better at this time. Trust me.

Mark Nail This Look Nail Color and Bracelet Set

Like this Mark Nail This Look Nail Color and Bracelet Set($28 CDA). Hello-CUTE or what? The adjustable bracelet looks like a belt and is really sweet looking and actually fits a variety of wrist sizes. Plus you get 2 Mark Mini Lacquers in Raspberry and Pink Truffle-glossy finish, yet still kind of matte. Since I don’t do nail posts anymore, here’s a swatch on some tape for you to show you the colours:

 photo IMG_7953.jpg

I did try them on my stumpy nails, and Raspberry Truffle is AMAZING. It’s a one coater that one! Pink Truffle is a two-coater, and it’s a perfect pink. So pretty!

Covergirl The Hunger Games Catching Fire Capitol Collection including The Covergirl Flamed Up Mega Curl Mascara

I’m sure you’ve all seen the Covergirl The Hunger Games Collection Catching Fire Capitol Collection products in stores by now, and have even probably seen the movie too. I haven’t yet, but I think me and the red head will try to catch it next week. In the meantime, we’ve been having fun with some of the collection that showed up here this past week. All the flames had me singing: Got some hot stuff baby this evening…looking for some hot stuff baby tonite…

The Covergirl Lipslick Smoochies Sizzle Gloss is in the shade Firecracker. It’s a really sheer light peach with lotsa sparkles(no flames thank goodness). Tasted fruity! Really glossy! But not much colour on the lips, so I didn’t take a pic or a swatch as it was kinda of useless. Pretty over lipstick though!
The Covergirl Crimson Blaze Nail Stickers($9.99 CAD) are Covergirl’s first nail appliques:

They are LONG. You have to have pretty nice, long nails and nail beds for these flames! We over here do not, but I did get Marky to try them out over the Covergirl Outlast Glosstini Nail Gloss in Seared Bronze(I tried to get her to model whilst holding a pita bread, but she wouldn’t go for it):

Covergirl The Hunger Games Catching Fire Capitol Collection.jpg

Covergirl The Hunger Games Catching Fire Capitol Collection

The polish was a lot sheerer than we were expecting and it took 3 coats to get some kind of coverage going. It’s a pretty glitter of gold, bronze, orange, green and isn’t gritty which is good, but three coats is UGGGGH for those of us with polish ADD. The nail stickers like I said are not made for short nails, as the flame design is kind of big! You’d have to have some long talons for them to look like they do on the packaging! I think the design should have been a lot smaller. Maybe then they wouldn’t look so…I don’t know… it doesn’t read so much as a flame to me..it’s the cartoonish look that I don’t care for. Sorry Covergirl!

What I LOVED LOVED LOVED was the Covergirl Flamed Up Mega Curl Mascara($9.99 CAD):

If there’s one thing that I think Covergirl does really well, it’s mascara and this one is great! The curve on the wand really helps lift up your lashes. I love curved wands, because I skip using a mascara curler when I see one!

Covergirl Flamed Up Mega Curl Mascara

The formula of Covergirl Flamed Up Mega Curl Mascara is just what I like: not too wet, not too dry-it’s just right! Easily buildable and does a great job of defining, curling, and adding a bit of volume as well. No flaking or smearing through out the day either! Here’s what it looks like in action with some eyeshadow I was testing today:

Covergirl Flamed Up Mega Curl Mascara .jpg

Covergirl Flamed Up Mega Curl Mascara

I think it’s better to see a mascara in action lately, and especially how it holds up with a darker eyeshadow, and the Covergirl Flamed Up Mega Curl Mascara holds its own! I really like it a lot!

You can still find Covergirl The Hunger Games Collection Catching Fire Capitol Collection at your local drugstores, but ya’ better hurry as most of it is limited edition! Not sure about the Covergirl Flamed Up Mega Curl Mascara, but I hope it’s here to stay! If not, I’ll be picking up some more to hoard!

Happy Saturday! Whatcha’ all doing today? I’m a’ battening down the hatches for a big winter storm heading here tomorrow afternoon and Monday! I think around 40 cm of snow is expected to fall, and the temperature will drop to -26C by Monday night. Hello Winter!

Anna Sui Drama Queen Lipstick #200 and Nail Art Colour N Reviews

Two new Anna Sui products recently made their way to Beauty Reflections!

 photo IMG_6242.jpg

Anna Sui Drama Queen Lipstick and Nail Art Colour N

The packaging for Anna Sui always puts a huge smile on my face! ☺ The signature black lacquer case with an antique flower vase motif inspired by 1920s art-deco style architecture is just so pretty! And the little nail polish bottle with the bodice and ruffled dress has to be the cutest nail polish bottle I’ve ever seen.

ANNA SUI NAIL ART COLOUR N #083($15 CDN)

 photo ANNASUINAILSPicMonkeyCollage.jpg

Anna Sui Nail Art Colour N #083

Anna Sui Nail Art Colour N has a transparent glossy formula with glitter particles that’s perfect to add some sparkle to nails. The brush is made flat with short & firm hairs for easy application. All of Anna Sui’s polishes are 3 Free. I’m not a huge glitter polish fan, so all you get is one nail with one coat to see it sorry! It went on really easily though-the brush is really nice! And I have to say as far as glitter polishes go, this one was easily removed. Oh, and by the by-it smells like tea roses!

ANNA SUI Drama Queen Lipstick ($29 CDN)

ANNA SUI Drama Queen Lipstick in the Vivid Base formula is available in 17 shades and delivers vibrant colour. Shade #200 is the PERFECT fall lip shade! If you are looking for a violet berry lipstick, then look no further!

 photo AnnaSui400PicMonkeyCollage.jpg

ANNA SUI Drama Queen Lipstick #200

ANNA SUI Drama Queen Lipstick #200 just glides onto the lips and melts right in. It has the prettiest tea rose scent that I just adore too! These lipsticks contain hydrating jojoba seed oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil and extract to keep your lips moisturized, plus a clear sliding powder believe it or not. The powder consists of highly translucent plate-like particles for an ultra-smooth application. Once applied, the formula melts and spreads evenly over lips with ease. Cool, hey?

 photo ANNASUI200LIPSTICK1IMG_7380.jpg

ANNA SUI Drama Queen Lipstick #200

I get about 3 hours of wear and then the lipstick starts to fade. I’d recommend a lip liner with ANNA SUI Drama Queen Lipsticks, as they are so emollient that they might start to move a bit. Anytime I wear a dark lip, I tend to wear a lip liner anyways  as I feel it gives a cleaner look so I don’t mind!

Anna Sui is available at select Shoppers Drug Mart, Pharmaprix and Murale locations across Canada. All colours will be available at select Hudson’s Bay stores at Yorkdale, Eaton Centre, Sherway, and Vancouver Downtown.

HUGZ,

Have you found the perfect berry lipstick for fall yet?

*product sent by PR for review, and I thank them for sending the perfect fall colour!  ☺

Estée Lauder The Metallics New Pure Color Collection

“When it comes to color, there are no limits. I like to have freedom. Metallic makeup does that.”
Tom Pecheux, Creative Makeup Director, Estée Lauder

This Fall, imagine an incredible combination of the highest reflective shine and intensely desirable color to make eyes, lips and nails smolder – introducing The Metallics, a NEW Pure Color Collection from Estée Lauder. The Metallics uses a variety of unique reflective finishes to bring a new level of sophistication to multi-dimensional color.

SHINY!! Who doesn’t want some shine in their makeup life sometimes, right? I have three pieces from the Estée Lauder The Metallics New Pure Color Collection to show you: a Pure Color High Intensity Lip Lacquer, a Limited Edition Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick, and a Limited Edition Pure Color Vivid Shine Nail Lacquer:

Estée Lauder Pure Color High Intensity Lip Lacquer, a Limited Edition Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick, and a Limited Edition Pure Color Vivid Shine Nail Lacquer:

Let’s start with the Estée Lauder Limited Edition Pure Color Vivid Shine Nail Lacquer($25 CDN) in Chocolate Foil:

 photo IMG_6303.jpg

Estée Lauder Limited Edition Pure Color Vivid Shine Nail Lacquer in Chocolate Foil:

I got Marky to model Chocolate Foil for us, and of course the obligatory whining started:

 photo IMG_7584.jpg

Estée Lauder Limited Edition Pure Color Vivid Shine Nail Lacquer in Chocolate Foil

BUT after I applied Chocolate Foil, she stopped whining! SHE LIKED IT haha! Why? I think for one, this is just ONE COAT of the Estée Lauder Limited Edition Pure Color Vivid Shine Nail Lacquer in Chocolate Foil-can you believe it? It dried really quickly to a hardened finish Marky said, which she really like about it. It seemed like it was more durable of a finish to her, and she actually asked me if there was a grey colour, because she really liked the formula. This was our first experience with an Estee Lauder Nail Polish and both of us were quite amazed at the great quality! There is a streakiness to it as there is with most metallic finish polishes, but if that didn’t seem to bother the whiny redhead, so I guess it all depends on what you like!

Lips next! First swatches of the Estée Lauder Pure Color High Intensity Lip Lacquer in Pink Vinyl and the Limited Edition Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick in Hot Lava:

 photo IMG_6313.jpg

Estée Lauder Pure Color High Intensity Lip Lacquer in Pink Vinyl and the Limited Edition Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick in Hot Lava

Pink Vinyl is a really pretty dusty rose shade with a lot of shine! And Hot Lava is autumn in a lipstick-a gorgeous warm red with some gold and red sparkle. Hot Lava has that sweet fig scent that Estée Lauder lipsticks have, but it’s seems really toned down from what I remember and dissipates quite quickly.

Estée Lauder Pure Color High Intensity Lip Lacquer in Pink Vinyl($26 CDN) on my lips:

 photo EsteeLauderLipGlossIMG_6317.jpg

Estée Lauder Pure Color High Intensity Lip Lacquer in Pink Vinyl

This is actually my first Estée Lauder Lip Gloss ever?-yeah pretty sure about that-but WOW is it ever NICE! Pigmented, smooth, moisturizing, not sticky and lasts a good 2 hours on my lips! I never new a lip gloss could be so pretty and feel so good!

And now Estée Lauder Limited Edition Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick in Hot Lava($32 CDN) close up so you can see the sparkles in the sun:

 photo IMG_6306.jpg

 photo ESTEELAUDERHOTLAVALIPSTICKIMG_6338.jpg

Estée Lauder Limited Edition Pure Color Vivid Shine Lipstick in Hot Lava

I love Estée Lauder lipsticks, and I don’t know WHY for the love of Pete I keep forgetting about them! They are so light feeling, and last FOREVER on my lips. I get a good 5 going on 6 hours of wear with no feathering or bleeding at all. And this colour-it’s like a warm red apple in the fall sunshine! It’s gorgeous! Not a hard red to wear at all, so if you are red-shy, Hot Lava would be a great one to start out with that’s for sure!

There are also some Estée Lauder Pure Color Instant Intense EyeShadow Trios that have a molten metal, liquid-like texture in the collection, so look out for those as well! I know I will!

The Estée Lauder The Metallics New Pure Color Collection is available at all Estée Lauder counters across the country right now! You really gotta check it out!

I don’t know WHY I keep forgetting about Estée Lauder makeup. I think I still carry the thought that it’s an old lady brand for some reason, and it really isn’t! And besides-I AM AN OLD LADY HAHAHA!  👵

Do you stereotype makeup brands as well? Which ones do you think are too old for you ?

*products sent by PR for review, new found love for Estée Lauder is mine. ☺

Avon Urban Splatter Nail Enamels Are Here!

Avon is getting all Indie with their nail polishes for fall! The new Avon Urban Splatter Nail Enamels($6.99 CDN) will give you a street-art inspired mani that’s on trend right now.

 photo IMG_5752.jpg

Avon Urban Splatter Nail Enamels

Avon Urban Splatter Nail Enamels are sheer color with matte black & white flecks of confetti throughout.

 photo IMG_5758.jpg

Avon Urban Splatter Nail Enamels

They are available in 6 sheer shades and I have four to show you: Pink Splatter, Urban Green Underground Yellow, Blue Vandalism. The two I don’t have are Purple Graffiti and Blackout.

Here’s a closeup of the back of a bottle:
 photo IMG_5757.jpg
You can see the back and white hexagons, circles and mini white dots confetti. There’s also some black sticks? as well in there.

Avon Urban Splatter Nail Enamels are quite different to apply! I’ve never tried nail polishes like these before, so I’m assuming all of these kind of confetti polishes are like this-slightly goopy, but not too bad all in all. It takes a bit of effort to get out the right amount of confetti in one go, but it wasn’t too difficult once I got used to it. You do have to maneuver the confetti around a bit and keep getting more of it from the bottle as you apply it.

This is what one coat of each shade looked like on Marky’s nails:

 photo IMG_5751.jpg

Avon Urban Splatter Nail Enamel in Pink Splatter, Urban Green, Blue Vandalism,Underground Yellow

Just a little bit closer up:

 photo IMG_5746.jpg

Avon Urban Splatter Nail Enamel in Pink Splatter, Urban Green, Blue Vandalism,Underground Yellow,

I’ll tell you this, there’s no way Marky would have sat through more than one coat of this! So, here’s a stock image of what Avon Urban Splatter Nail Enamel in Blackout would look like if you piled on a few layers:

 photo 01newurbansplatte.jpg

Avon Urban Splatter Nail Enamel Blackout

I think that would have been a pain and a half to get all of that confetti off her nails haha! Avon Urban Splatter Nail Enamels don’t take too long too dry after one coat, but DANG Marky had a hard time getting all the bits of confetti off because it tends to stick to your skin during removal. I assume that’s nothing out of the ordinary with polishes like these. The nail polish itself removes quite easily, so if you take a napkin and wipe your nail off after with that, then all the bits of confetti come off of your skin much easier. The nail surface isn’t completely smooth to the touch either, so a top coat would be necessary to protect your urban splatter mani. I can’t tell you long your Urban Splatter mani would last as Marky took it off right away, but with a good top coat I’d think you’d get great wear time.

There’s no way I’d ever wear Avon Urban Splatter Nail Enamel full on like that stock image, but on an accent nail I think it would be fun for sure!

Avon Urban Splatter Nail Enamels are available right now from your local Avon Rep by calling 1-800-265-AVON, or by ordering online at www.avon.ca.

Whaddaya’ think? Are you a fan of confetti polishes like these?  ☺
