When a product claims to be “anti-redness” my reaction is RIGHT. SURE. These green colour correctors NEVER work well. And sometimes they even leave you looking like that green alien chick Kirk had a thing for. And unless young Captain Kirk is lurking around Edmonton, I don’t like looking green. To quote my favourite Muppet: It’s not easy being green, ya’ know? So, I hope you can appreciate my lack of enthusiasm when L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Anti-Redness($16.99) showed up for me to test out.

New! L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Anti-Redness

I am ASTOUNDED that I like L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Anti-Redness as much as I do! Although, I’m not sure why L’Oreal Paris decided to call it a BB Cream, as it’s more of a colour corrector, which to me means CC Cream? But it does offer some light coverage, so I guess BB Cream is correct? Arrgh, these alphabet creams are going to be the death of me I swear…

Swatchy Time!

New! L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Anti-Redness

L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Anti-Redness swatches yummy minty green! My favourite spring shade! But it has some flecks of colour adjusting pigments that adapt to your skin tone needs when you blend it in. Sort of. I do think it’s a tad on the orange side, which scared the BEJEEZUS outta me. I was pretty darn sure there was NO WAY L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Anti-Redness was going to work for me.

Sigh. If I only had a nickel for every time I thought that. I’d be a freakin’ millionaire by now. But this time? This is a perfect instance of when ONE PICTURE IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS.

Ok, but I do have a few words to say hahaha! I have a lot of redness in my face, even though I do have yellow tones. I use a lot of anti-aging skincare which contributes to the redness, plus my skin is extra-sensitive. I’m one of those people you touch and I’m RED for a week. I have a glass of wine? RED CHEEKS. Oh, oh! And when I exercise? I turn so, SO red. When I used to belong to a gym, it would really freak out people. They’d constantly ask me if I was ok, and I’d have to reassure them-YEAH, I’m FINE. It got annoying, so that’s one of the reasons I exercise on my own now. I got tired of people thinking I was going to keel over any minute!

Anyways, here’s my red face before. Besides the redness, I’m actually quite happy with my skin at the moment. I don’t have a lot of wrinkles, and my hyper pigmentation keeps getting better and better and non existent thanks to sunscreen and Vichy ProEVEN, and some new Vitamin C that I’ve added to my skincare.

And here’s what the L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Anti-Redness does for me!

L'Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Anti-Redness AFTER.jpg

L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Anti-Redness AFTER

Are you KIDDING ME? Are you SERIOUSLY KIDDING ME??? Yeah, I know it’s too dark for me, and my neck doesn’t match, but that stark orange colour really did a number on the redness, hey? I can’t believe it! I’ve never had a product make my skin look so evenly toned! Ok, time for more makeup!

L'Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Anti-Redness After, with MAC Mineralized SkinFinish Natural in Medium applied over top.jpg

L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Anti-Redness After, with MAC Mineralized SkinFinish Natural in Medium applied over top

A little concealer and MAC Mineralized SkinFinish Natural in Medium is all I used over top of the L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Anti-Redness. And blush. ALWAYS blush. And YES, I know my neck is still pale in comparison. But all I need is a bit of bronzer and BAZINGA! it would look fine. I actually have this problem with most of my foundations, so I use Guerlain Terracotta Spray SPF 10 bronzer on my neck to make it match better. I HAVE A BIG HEAD OK. My neck NEVER sees the sun LOL!

L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Anti-Redness is kind of runny, so be careful when you squirt some out. It’s got silicones, sigh, but they aren’t too heavy that I get all jumpy about it. They don’t make L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Anti-Redness feel heavy and suffocating, so my acne-prone sensitive skin seems to tolerate it well, YAY! It dries down matte and almost powdery, which is perfect for the summer. I get about 8 hours of wear before it starts to disappear, which is all I personally need when it comes to wear time. A primer might prolong that wear for you. Actually, I think L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Anti-Redness would make a dandy primer! For me, it would be too much. I like light coverage, but if you are a full coverage kinda’ gal, then this would be a great primer if you have redness. It does a good job of filling in pores and wrinkles because of the bit of silicones in it. Truth be told, it feels a lot like the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer that a lot of people love. So, if that’s something you like, or have wanted to try, then give this a shot! It’s a lot cheaper that’s for dang sure!

L’Oreal Paris Magic Skin Beautifier BB Cream Anti-Redness is part of the L’Oreal Paris Fall Collection, which is supposed to be out in stores in June sometime. FALL? NOW? Cripes. Gimme a chance to feel the sun, will  ya’? All it takes is about 5 minutes of above 25C though, and I’m ready for fall truth be told hahaha!

So? Whaddaya think? Are you as surprised as I am? And do you use colour correctors? I think they are one product that truthfully should be left to the Pros, but something like this? Changes my mind a bit. Although, I do think that lot of people would walk around with pale necks like I’ve shown and not fix it with a bronzer(Trust me, I DO fix mine, I just wanted to show the product in all its realness).

*product sent by PR for review, thoughts, even the crazy ones are mine as always! 😀

L’Oreal Paris wants you to enjoy the sun. They really do! Have fun! Frolic! But they also want you to protect it, with the best possible sun protection that you can really count on, and that’s why they’ve created L’Oreal Paris Sublime Sun.

Most of the time when someone tells me that they don’t use sunscreen, their excuse is that they don’t like the way it feels on their skin. You know, that heavy, stifling, GREASY feeling that screams I am wearing sunscreen. Well, now that excuse just won’t cut it anymore. L’Oreal Paris Sublime Sun is sun care that meets skin care and that means you’ll get the most beautiful skin under the sun, without compromise, and here are the reasons WHY:

  • L’Oreal Paris Sublime Sun products have a patented UV filter system for long-lasting, broad spectrum protection against UVA1, UVA2 and UVB rays.
  • They’re all non-comedogenic and won’t cause acne and are suitable for sensitive skins.
  • They are water resistant for 80 minutes.
  • They contain luxurious antioxidant skincare ingredients like grape seed oil. sea buckthorn oil, shea oil, sunflower seed oil, and vitamin E to nourish, hydrate and protect the skin against free radicals
  • They come in every texture, so there’s something that will suit everyone.
  • They smell SO SO GOOD. The scent of L’Oreal Paris Sublime Sun products is built just like a fragrance with top notes of Aloe Vera and Coconut Milk, heart notes of Ylang-Ylang and white peony, and base notes of fig milk and tonk a bean.

Sounds pretty darn good, hey? Ok, let’s start with the good/bad, first? Or the bad/good first?

L'Oréal Paris Sublime Sun

L’Oréal Paris Sublime Sun Silky Sheer Face Lotion and Silky Sheer BB Cream

L’Oreal Paris Sublime Sun Silky Sheer Face Lotion and Silky Sheer BB Cream($14.99 each) have an SPF of 50. Both are ultra-light, oil free and have an ultra-light finish and feel. They feel like a dry oil going on, and upon rubbing them in they pretty much disappear. You have to shake them up before using them- they have one of those mixing balls inside. And as you can see, they are REALLY liquidy in texture which adds to their spreadability. Good so far, right?

L'Oréal Paris Sublime Sun.jpg

L’Oréal Paris Sublime Sun Silky Sheer Face Lotion and Silky Sheer BB Cream

The BB Cream has a tint to it, and I know it looks scary on my pasty arm there, and that’s because it IS. It’s NOT good for pale skin like mine! It leaves a light orange shade to my skin which is a nope! I’m not sure WHO this shade of orange is for, but I’m pretty sure they don’t live on planet Earth! It feels like nothing on your skin, which I do like! Both of them do, although I find the untinted one a bit more hydrating, which is weird because usually a BB Cream means skincare, no? But, if you are pale like I am, or just a human, get the un-tinted one. PLEASE. I think you’d have to be a lot darker than me, or from the planet Zorgon to be able to use the BB Cream version and walk around with just that on your face! Sorry L’Oreal! 😀

L’Oréal Paris Sublime Sun-L’Oréal Paris Sublime Sun Quick Dry Sheer Spray SPF30, SPF50, L’Oréal Paris Sublime Sun After Sun Rich Repairing Lotion, L’Oréal Paris Sublime Sun Silky Sheer Mousse SPF30, SPF50, L’Oréal Paris Sublime Sun Invisible Protect Sheer Spray SPF30, SPF50

L’Oreal Paris Sublime Sun Quick Dry Sheer Spray SPF30, SPF50($14.99) is the brand’s first alcohol-free sheer finish spray that dries INSTANTLY. You can’t feel ANYTHING on your skin I swear, but after you apply it your skin feels soft and smooth! Really cool! This one is my husband’s favourite. It’s not sticky and feels drier to the touch than any other spray SPF I’ve ever tried. In fact, it’s what we’ve brought to California with us this time and loving it.

L’Oreal Paris Sublime Sun Silky Sheer Mousse SPF30, SPF50($14.99) is the NEATEST sunscreen you’ll ever try! It’s an ultra-light, non sticky mousse that just MELTS onto your skin. It absorbs FAST, and makes your skin feel so soft and smooth! Again, not sticky at all. It’s pretty amazing! You have to try this one too!

L’Oreal Paris Sublime Sun Invisible Protect Sheer Spray SPF30, SPF50($14.99) is a dry oil spray that’s not greasy at all. This one leaves a beautiful satin soft finish to the skin, making it glow and look healthy.

L’Oreal Paris Sublime Sun After Sun Rich Repairing Lotion is a moisturizer that instantly soothes and nourishes skin after sun exposure. It moisturizes skin for 24 hours, and gives it loads of antioxidants to help repair. Feels so good and cooling.

L'Oreal Paris Sublime Sun.jpg

a shot glass of sunscreen a day to keep sun damage away.

One piece of advice that L’Oreal Paris Sublime Sun wants me to pass on, is that you need a shot glass of sunscreen a day to keep sun damage away. That’s 30 ml worth of sunscreen you need applied to your entire body to get maximum protection. (I wouldn’t count face application in that measurement-that’s extra in my book!)

You can find L’Oreal Paris Sublime Sun products at most mass market retailers and drugstores across Canada.

These are some pretty incredible sunscreens y’all! The textures are incredible and all feel pretty invisible, yet good on the skin. I’m kind of blown away by them! Sunscreens have sure come a long way baby! What’s your favourite sunscreen?

*products sent by the lovely PR, thoughts are mine as always!

There’s something about this time of year that makes me want all the shiny things. And after this especially freezing winter, I’ve got a real need to shine! I’m going to show you how I get all shiny and ready for spring, but in an age appropriate shiny way. Because at my age, I gotta be choosy as to what I let shine and what products I use to shine. If there’s one thing I can teach you, it’s that not all shine is created equal!

Let’s start at the top with hair, because there’s nothing worse than dull looking hair. If your hair is like mine, it’s probably looking lacklustre from all the cold weather. To give it that extra shine, I’ve discovered the shiniest, prettiest pink shampoo, conditioner and hair masque on this earth from L’Oreal Paris. Seriously, I couldn’t stop staring at all the sparkles. Oh, and they smell like spring too-floral with a touch of fruit! Love it!

L'Oreal Paris Nutri-Shimmer Crystal.jpg

L’Oreal Paris Nutri-Shimmer Crystal Shampoo, Conditioner and Instant Miracle

L’Oreal Paris Nutri-Shimmer Crystal Shampoo, Conditioner and Instant Miracle are enriched with micro-crystals that leave hair sparkling with up to 50% more shine.

L'Oreal Paris Nutri-Shimmer Crystal.jpg

L’Oreal Paris Nutri-Shimmer Crystal Shampoo and Conditioner

See the sparkles? The L’Oreal Paris Nutri-Shimmer Crystal Shampoo has to be the prettiest shampoo I’ve ever used. And one wash will leave your hair 50% shinier! The sparkling conditioner leaves hair looking shiny and feeling velvety soft. It’s ultra-light and leaves hair bouncy, yet moisturized.

L'Oreal Paris Nutri--Shimmer Crystal.jpg

L’Oreal Paris Nutri-Shimmer Crystal Instant Miracle

And the Instant Miracle Complete Shine Care is such a great product! You just apply it from the tips of your hair to the roots and rinse it out immediately. Hair is left so smooth you can feel the difference instantly. The L’Oreal Paris Nutri-Shimmer Crystal line is made for fine to normal dull hair and you can see and feel the difference in your hair the first time you use them. I did! I’ve never seen my grey hair look so shiny!

Next is skin! The best way to add some age-appropriate shine is to use a primer that gives your skin some glow. My favourites have no obvious sparkles in them because if there’s one thing that I’m not a fan of is glitter on my face. Shine and glow is what we’re after, not glitter.

 photo IMG_1814.jpg

Liquid highlighters with fine shimmer is what I like to use to add some shine to the high points of my face. Liquid highlighter is better than powder at my age, as it won’t emphasize wrinkles. Just a dab on the top of my cheekbones and viola-shine!

 photo IMG_1817.jpg

As a blush fiend, a glowy blush is probably my favourite way to add some shine too. Pick one that’s shiny and shimmery-you don’t want any obvious sparkles on your face.

 photo IMG_1823.jpg

Shine on the eyes is trickier at my age. I try to keep shine only on my lid, or as an inner corner highlight. Those are the places that will least likely attract any unwanted wrinkle attention. Just a dab of shine on the lids and the outer corners will add some youthful shine that looks amazing for spring! Make sure you use a good eye-primer before applying shine to your lids though. You want to keep the shine on your lids!

 photo LOREALSHINEYEYESOPENIMG_1833.jpg
 photo LOREALSHINEYEYESCLOSEDIMG_1829.jpg

And last but not least, a bit of shine on the lips is very youthful and spring-like! I find sheer, shiny glosses are the easiest to wear.

My hair is so shiny from using the L’Oreal Paris Nutri-Shimmer Crystal Shampoo, Conditioner and Instant Miracle. I can’t get over the difference! You have to try them!

What are your favourite ways to shine for spring?

* Nutri-Shimmer Crystal is the new ultra-light haircare formula that transforms long, dull, fine hair, giving up to 50% more shine with your 1st use.

*L’Oreal Paris Nutri-Shimmer Crystal Shampoo, Conditioner and Instant Miracle does not deposit any colour to your hair. My hair is pink(and will be forever, although I’m thinking about adding some orange too!) and was pink before using them. These wonderful products do not alter hair colour in any way whatsoever.

L’Oreal Paris has been busy! They have quite a few new products out in drugstores right now that are really worth taking a look at!

L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Le Sourcil Eyebrow Pencil, Colour Riche Le Khol Eyeliner in Black

First there’s the the L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Le Sourcil Eyebrow Pencil($8.99 CDN) that comes in 2 shades: Golden Brown and Deep Brown, and the new Colour Riche Le Khol Eyeliners($8.99 CDN) that come in colourful and intense shades:

 photo LOREALPENCILSPicMonkeyCollage.jpg

L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Le Sourcil Eyebrow Pencil, Colour Riche Le Khol Eyeliner in Black

The L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Le Sourcil Eyebrow Pencil in Golden Brown is a bit warm for me, which is a shame as I really like it! It’s a creamy texture that dries to a suede-powder finish and that’s what I like in my eyebrow pencils. I hate waxy eyebrow pencils as my brow hairs are kind of long, so a wax makes them look like they have moustache wax on them. NOT a good look I tell ya. The spooly brush on the end is great for blending in the pencil with your brow hairs to give a natural look. If one of the colours matches you, lucky you! Check it out!

L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Le Khol Eyeliners have a cream glide technology, and you guessed it- these are creamy, smooth and vibrant eyeliners! The black is REALLY black as you can see and works great on the waterline, or smudged out on your lash lines. Since it’s a kohl pencil, it’s not bulletproof in wear, so I do suggest setting it with a bit of eyeshadow to make sure it stays in place. But truth be told, it’s pretty decent at staying put on its own-one of the better stay-put kohls I’ve tried! There are some really pretty jewel toned ones that would be perfect for fall.

L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Excess Mascara($10.99 CDN) is the first L’Oreal Mascara that I actually really like!

 photo IMG_1710.jpg

L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Excess Mascara(

I know that the Voluminous Carbon Lash or whatever it’s called is a HG mascara for a lot of people, but for me it’s a bit on the dry side and smudges like crazy.  L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Excess Mascara is a wetter formula, maybe even too wet at first even for me. It took about 2 weeks for it to get to the right consistency that I like and now I can’t get enough of it!
 photo IMG_1712.jpg

The brush is a plastic brush that’s hourglass shaped, yet comes to a rounded tip and it’s not so spiky that it hurts to put your mascara on. I usually always have to use kleenex and brush off excess mascara before going to my eye, but not with  L’Oreal Paris Voluminous Excess Mascara! I can go straight to my lashes without fear of clumping, and if there are any clumps the bristles on the brush comb through them. It doesn’t smudge or flake on me and isn’t a pain to take off. I really like it!

L’Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder Bare Skin Perfecting Makeup #310 Light Ivory

Believe it or not, this shade Light Ivory #310 is too pale for me at the moment! I know! This has to be a day of triumph for me-the day that I finally am dark enough to wear drugstore foundations!

Light Ivory kind of matches my arm, but trust me it doesn’t match my face one bit. I’d need one shade darker for a better match, but for the winter I think this would be perfect. It’s the weirdest yet coolest feeling foundation ever and is hard to describe. It’s like a dry oil, but no oily residue at all. When you pour it out of the bottle, it almost looks like liquid sand.  It leaves quite a dry, almost powdery finish to your skin. Coverage is sheer, yet buildable to about a medium coverage. As cool as L’Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder Bare Skin Perfecting Makeup feels and looks-it’s just not meant for someone with dry skin, just like its sister foundation, Giorgio Armani True Match. Both of these foundations catch on my dry skin and accentuate any dry patches I have and even ones I didn’t KNOW I had. Even if I try to moisturize my skin really well before application, L’Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder Bare Skin Perfecting Makeup still doesn’t  work for me. But if you have oily or combination skin, then you will LOVE it. It honestly feels like there’s nothing on your face! If you’ve wanted to try Giorgio Armani True Match Foundation but haven’t because YIKES the price tag here in Canada is beyond ridiculous, then give L’Oreal Paris Magic Nude Liquid Powder Bare Skin Perfecting Makeup a try!

All of these new products from L’Oreal are available at most retailers right now! Give them a try! Get more info on them at www.lorealparis.ca!
