Hey HOW YOU DOIN’?

I know, I’m a bad blogger. PFFT. I don’t pretend that this is my full time job so… if you are still around reading this then YAY… thanks man. To be honest I really don’t care anymore and this is the last dang time I apologize for not posting often enough…Either you like me, or you don’t, so…HA. DEAL DUDES.

Anyways…Dior Summer 2016 unexpectedly showed up on my doorstep one morning. Yeah, usually I have to email the PR and ask heyyyyyy……remember me?!! I used to do that. Not anymore, because I don’t give a rat’s ass now and won’t beg for crap to show up here. Especially Dior, because I’m not a huge Dior Fangirl as you know.  So, I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn’t forgotten this time…although let’s see what happens down the road hey? 😛 I tend to tick off a lot of PR because I don’t blog for any brand and their free stuff..I blog because well…I like chatting with you all.

Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette #536 Escapade

So today I’m going to tell you my thoughts about Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette #536 Escapade. Because it’s the one that most people seemed to gasp at when I showed it on Instagram? And I don’t know why, because honestly the colours aren’t that amazing or unique? It kind of surprised me to be honest.

Swatchy Time!

Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette #536 Escapade .jpg

Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette #536 Escapade

They’re typical Dior shadows…slightly powdery and dry, but blend nicely. Not a lot of pigment either. Like I said, typical Dior. Click to enlarge the images below to get a better look.

Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette #536 Escapade

I mean I like the palette? But it takes A LOT OF WORK to get these looks I created-especially the more pastel one I created. The brown one wasn’t hard at all, but that’s just not a very unique look at all now, is it? Unless you are totally new to this makeup game, I’m sure you all have a nice golden warm brown eyeshadow in your collection by now. And the peach shade is rather paltry in this palette… I’d much rather use MAC Paradisco for a bazinga! peach shade on my lids. That one doesn’t take TONS of layering to show up like the one in Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette #536 Escapade did.

Again Dior, you just kind of fall in that I ALMOST LIKE IT ENOUGH TO BUY IT category….but just not quite there. I mean, this isn’t a cheap palette here in Canada, costing $72 which is LUDICROUS, so I’m not going to tell you that this is a MUST buy if it doesn’t WOW me…and this just didn’t do that. Sorry Dior. You can do better. I’m just waiting for that day…whether it comes soon is another question…I wait with bated breath. 😛

Summer collections are the ones that typically disappoint me…what about you? I just don’t get summer collections at all. I hardly buy any summer makeup as they just aren’t my style at all. You?

To say that I was happy to see the Caryl Baker Limited Edition Spring 2016 Bloom Colour Collection pop up on my doorstep was an understatement!

I adore, simply ADORE the Canadian brand of skincare and makeup, so YEEHAW this Beauty Blogger was as happy as hearing her favourite Zumba song play while working out haha! And in case you wanted to know, it’s Corazon Acelerao by Los Vaqueros: La Trilogia-it’s an amazing blend of traditional music and latin hip hop, and it’s so much fun to dance to!

Caryl Baker Limited Edition Spring 2016 Bloom Colour Collection .jpg

Caryl Baker Limited Edition Spring 2016 Bloom Colour Collection

There’s some skincare in the Caryl Baker Limited Edition Spring 2016 Bloom Colour Collection too, but today let’s focus on colour, because DANG…I love winter…but Spring makeup collections are my absolute FAVOURITE. I just melt like the snow when I see the gorgeous pastel colours, and want everything I see!
“Spring is synonymous with romance, a time for fresh feminine looks that are as easy to create as they are to wear. Lightly brush a wash of petal-coloured shadow in soft yellow Buttercup or peachy Tulip all over the eye to naturally flatter,” says Caryl Baker Visage National Face Expert, Anna Koniaris.

But the Caryl Baker Limited Edition Spring 2016 Bloom Colour Collection has kind of satisfied that Spring Makeup craving because the colours are just so pretty and ethereal, and dudes-I need nothing else. DONE.

Swatchy Time!

HYDRANGEA Soft sea green-blue with gold, pearlescent finish; WEET PEA Pinky peach, metallic finish; BUTTERCUP Light buttercream, matte finish; BLUSH: ROSE GARDEN Pearlescent cool pink.

Now there are eight eyeshadows($18 each) in the collection, but I have three: HYDRANGEA which is a soft sea green-blue with gold with a pearlescent finish; SWEET PEA, a pinky peach with a metallic finish; BUTTERCUP is a light buttercream shade with a matte finish. Caryl Baker Eyeshadows are amazing if you have aging eyes like me because they’re made with Orchid Flower Extract which is an emollient anti-oxidant that helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. AND they are Paraben, Gluten free AND Vegan too.  🙂

The shadows are beautiful and easy to blend. My fave is definitely Hydrangea-it’s the PERFECT Spring eyeshadow. Sweet Pea could be slightly more pigmented if I’m being picky, but it’s still great. LOVE them all.

There are two blushes in the collection, and I have ROSE GARDEN($22.50), a Pearlescent cool pink which is SO PRETTY on the cheeks. Her blushes are a triple-milled, highly-pigmented fine powder that blends like a DREAM.

MORNING DEW Lipstick, FREESIA Lip Gloss

MORNING DEW Lipstick($18) is a rosy pink, cream finish that’s perfect! I love Caryl Baker Lipsticks-they’re pigmented, and kind of a good classic formula-not too creamy, not too drying. They are comfy on the lips and last FOREVER. FREESIA Lip Gloss($18)is a bright pink with a semi-matte finish and it’s so good. Nicely pigmented, not drying and not sticky at all.

Do you love Spring Makeup like I do? I’m telling you dudes, this is my makeup WEAKNESS. I know most people LOVE Fall makeup and I should too since it’s my favourite season. But there’s something about spring makeup collections that’s just SO. DANG. PRETTY.

Let’s talk about all the eye stuffs in the Dior Holiday 2015 State Of Gold Collection. One post-boom-bazinga-done. Fast and furiously gold, although not as gold as I thought it was going to be. Which for me is a YAY, because I’m not a fan of gold on my eyes, especially the more yellow golds.

This one is a stunner, that’s for sure! Look at that red! And I love a good red eyeshadow, and this one is NICE you guys.

The shadows all feel soft when swatched, are nicely pigmented, and blend beautifully on the eye.

I had no problem, other than significant fallout when applying them, so best to put your foundation on AFTER. The pink and the gold shade are more matte, and don’t have a ton of colour payoff, although the pink is surprising. You can definitely see the pink when you apply it-like a wash of pink. It’s quite pretty, and different, since most pinks are usually sparkly. And that glittery black shade I applied wet which worked quite well! It made the sparkles stay put much better. I like this palette.  😀

Dior Holiday 2015 5 Couleurs State Of Gold Eyeshadow Palette #576 Eternal Gold

Dior Holiday 2015 5 Couleurs State Of Gold Eyeshadow Palette #576 Eternal Gold is a cooler toned palette, so I personally prefer this one.

The shades are a bit more boring compared to that red shade, but easier to wear, and just looks better on me I think. With this palette, you can wear whatever pretty lipstick shade you want, so for me, I’d get more wear from this palette for sure. It all depends on what you want to showcase for holiday parties-eyes, or lips. This palette is better if you’re a lip gal like me.  😛

Most of these shades worked quite well again, but since these shades are a bit lighter, be careful to not overblend them.

In this next picture I’m wearing that plummy taupe on my eye, but I also used the Dior Fusion Mono Eyeshadow($36) in Blazing on the centre of my lid.

Dior Fusion Mono Eyeshadow Blazing.jpg

Dior Fusion Mono Eyeshadow Blazing

Wow! I didn’t think I was going to love this as much as I do! It’s great to add a bit of god sparkle on top of your eyeshadows. It stays put too.

Finally thoughts? I’m much more impressed with the Dior Holiday 2015 State Of Gold Eye products this time around. The shadows are really easy to work with, and blend nicely. The shades are pretty as well! But, are they worth $70 CDN? Well, again that’s up to you. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again-I think Dior Eye Palettes have gorgeous colour combinations. Their shadow formula for me, is not one of my favourites-although this time around they perform a lot better, so that’s a good thing. If you love Dior, you will love these. Personally? I say get the Fusion Mono Eyeshadow in Blazing and be done with any ‘holiday’ eye products. All you need is a bit of gold sparkle and any eyeshadow you have will look ‘holiday’. Save your money for a really pretty holiday lipstick, which Dior has for sure! I’ll show them soon, but spoiler alert-it’s real love for me!  😉

The Dior Holiday 2015 State Of Gold collection will be available on counters October 15 in Canada.

What do you think? This is the first ‘Holiday’ collection I’ve seen so far. They’re ALWAYS GOLD. Sigh. When is someone going to do an awesome Navy and Silver Holiday Collection? WHEN.

Do you love holiday makeup collections? Or are you like me, and think they’re just all the same and all too gold?

You’ve probably heard all you’ve wanted to hear about the Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palettes. But, I’m still gonna tell you why I like my Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette Infinity($67) because I have reasons. GOOD reasons. Aging beauty blogger reasons.

Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette Infinity.jpg

Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette Infinity

1. The design. I mean c’mon, it’s pretty striking, right? And yes I’ve heard people say BUT I DON’T LIKE HOW THE POWDERS WILL MIX WHEN I USE IT. PFFFFFFT I SAY. I have other palettes that have dividers and the powders kick up and gets in all of the shades too. Same, same. Get over it I say 😛  Nothing stays perfect looking, and when you’re my age you get over perfection really fast.

2. The shadows are super soft and smooth and blend like a dream. Yes, they kick up product. So what. A lot of mattes these days do. Again I can’t say it enough, be gentle with ALL of your products. Don’t go jamming your brushes with Hulk force into powders. Or creams for that matter. You’re just asking for trouble. I just gently touch my brush into the shade I want with Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette Infinity, and I barely get any kick up. And that gentle brush touch picks up MORE than enough pigment to work with. I like to build up my eyeshadow slowly, not WHAM BAM PIGMENT anymore. Aging eyes need gentle washes of colour you guys.

Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette Infinity.jpg

Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette Infinity

3. The shades in Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette Infinity are neutral heaven. And they allow for the most seamless of seamless blending I’ve experienced with eyeshadows. The only other shadows that are this seamless in blending that I’ve tried are Laura Mericer’s. I hear Viseart’s are something else, but I don’t wear eyeshadows enough these days to warrant getting another palette. And these mattes from Hourglass? Make the BEST crease shades, because to be honest that’s really all I like to wear these days. And these matte shades are pretty perfect for that.

4. I can wear Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette Infinity every day and not get tired of it. It goes with everything, and I can wear any of my lipsticks I want to.

5. They don’t crease or fade and last a LONG time over a primer. Looks pretty perfect still on my oily lids for longer than 12 hours easy.

Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette Infinity.jpg

Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette Infinity

6. And this is the most important reason for me: The shadows in Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette Infinity DO NOT emphasize or settle in my crow’s feet wrinkles. YES. I have wrinkles. I do. And they’re deeper on one eye too. You can see them in the above pics. I’m old, remember hahaha? And those wrinkles are another big reason why I don’t wear a lot of eyeshadows anymore. Most eyeshadows don’t blend well over the wrinkles PLUS they just emphasize them. But the shadows in Hourglass Modernist Eyeshadow Palette Infinity glide over those deep wrinkles and still blend like a dream. And I don’t feel like they look worse, as they usually do when I wear other eyeshadows. And if your lids are getting crepey(mine aren’t yet thank goodness, but the time will come soon) these shadows would work beautifully still because they are so creamy.

I know. These are pretty pricey. And honestly, if you have a lot of eyeshadows all ready and are under the age of 40, you probably don’t need this. But if you are aging like I am, and have been having trouble with eyeshadows too, then I think you should try this one. It’s become a workhorse palette for me and I take it with me when travelling as well. I like it. End of story.

What’s your favourite workhorse eyeshadow or palette?

The Make Up For Ever Give In To Me Set($90 CAD, $79 USD) is the other thing I’ve been putting off reviewing because of my feelings about the book/movie. Like I said, I’m not a fan of the book/movie. But I’m a HUGE Make Up Forever Fan…so YES to this collection …sort of…I mean I can’t back up this abomination of a box though… like NO.

The eyeshadows are crazy good…buttery smooth, pigmented, blend like a dream…although S556 the taupe grey which for sure I thought would be my fave in the bunch… is a bit harder than the others to work with. Just a bit. It’s just a little bit stiffer is all, but still workable! Keep in mind that you can build your own palette with MUFE…so you don’t have to buy this set and silly box. I just say get some of these eye shadows in your stash because they are CRAZY GOOD. You just gotta’.

The Make Up For Ever Graphic Liner in my eyes is the real star of this set! If you love liquid eyeliner and wear it every day? You need this puppy!

Make Up For Ever Give In To Me Set.jpg

Make Up For Ever Graphic Liner

SO GOOD.

 photo IMG_6984.jpg
I don’t wear liquid liner often, but this??!! If it came in a bunch of other colours besides black? WOULD TOTALLY CHANGE MY MIND DUDES. So easy to work with! I passed this along to Marky who wears a bold cat-eye every day. She loves it, and it has has de-throned her previous Holy Grail Stila liquid liner. It’s just that much better! So black, so pigmented and stays put all day.

 photo IMG_6994_1.jpg

In the kit you get a Make Up For Ever Lab Shine Lip gloss in D-14 and  Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Lipstick in N4, and along with the graphic liner??!! I’d buy MULTIPLES of these three things. They are just such great products!

Swatchy Time!

Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Lipstick in N4 is like the perfect MLLB shade, and the formula is one of the best out there…I think it’s highly underrated. Really moisturizing, nice pigmentation and lasting power…I need to get more that’s for sure!

Make Up For Ever Give In To Me Set.jpg

Make Up For Ever Rouge Artist Lipstick in N4

Make Up For Ever Lab Shine Lip gloss in D-14 is actually the first I’ve ever tried from the brand, and it’s REALLY good. Like DIOR lipgloss good. Smooth, nicely pigmented but not too much, glossy and comfy to wear even if there’s sparkles in there. I’d get more if I was a serious gloss girl that’s for sure!

Here’s a pick of me from my Instagram, wearing everything from the Make Up Forever Fifty Shades Of Grey, including the Make Up For Ever Desire Me Cheek Set I reviewed the other day:

Make Up For Ever Give In To Me Set.jpg

Make Up For Ever Give In To Me Set

Honestly the whole set is a steal when it comes to Make Up Forever. But, if like me, you can’t stand the whole movie/book crap…I say buy some of these things individually. There’s not one dud of a product in the whole set. Honestly. But that box?! It went into the trash as soon as it entered my home. Screw off Mr. Grey.

PHEWWWWW…I’m so glad to get this last Fifty Shades Of Grey review done and DONE. Again, I can’t stress enough how much I adore the products…but the whole association with the movie? Kinda bothers me a bit. It makes me wonder what Dany Sanz was thinking…why she’d lend her name..her amazing products…let them be associated with this trash. If you’re out there Dany, let us know. I’m sure I’m not the only woman out there that wants to know WHY.
