MAKE UP FOR EVER joined forces with pop star Charli XCX to create this collection of Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencil Waterproof Eyeliners($25). I am old, so forgive me, but I have NO IDEA who she is HAHA. I don’t listen to the radio a lot, so the only time I might get to listen to a new song is at Zumba. But hey, if she likes bold colour on her eyes, then she’s gotta be cool-right?

Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencil Waterproof Eyeliners

I was gobsmacked when the whole collection of Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencil Waterproof Eyeliners showed up at my door. I didn’t expect that at all! I’m not one of the bigger and more popular bloggers around, but I guess Make Up For Ever must like me. Who knew? And I like them! And they are one makeup brand that appreciates honest reviews and feedback about their products. I’ve never felt like I couldn’t tell it like I saw it when I reviewed their stuff, and when I have given a less than a stellar review, the lovely PR has thanked me for my honesty. I admire that! And that’s why they’re the longest PR relationship I’ve had with a brand since I’ve started blogging. And hopefully it continues for a very long time-fingers crossed!

Now, let’s start this review with the fact that I am totally an eyeliner gal-like pencil eyeliner-I don’t do liquid eyeliner, or any other kind of fancy eyeliner crap. I am pretty old-fashioned when it comes to eyeliner, and much prefer the ease of a sharp pencil that I can smudge if I want, use on my waterline if I want, or flick it up if I want. But what I ALSO want is a pencil eyeliner that won’t smudge, fade, disappear. Oh, and I also want them to come in every fricken colour I’m lemming that day.

THESE ARE WHAT I WANT.

Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencil Waterproof Eyeliners.jpg

Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencil Waterproof Eyeliners

The Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencil Waterproof Eyeliners come in different finishes-matte, iridescent, diamond, metallic and satiny. What I did find is that the more sparkle they have, the softer the pencil is. The metallics are REALLY soft, so be careful with them otherwise they can break rather easily. The others I had no problem with.

I’m going to let the pictures of the shades speak for themselves, and by all means click on them to enlarge so you can see better. Oh, and my swatches are the names of the individual eye liners. It was just easier to do it this way.

And the pastels, which are all matte:

The mattes are STELLAR on the waterline…on me, they lasted well into 8 hours without fading and that’s amazing. I didn’t try the others-I tend to not use eyeliners with any kind of sparkles in my waterline, sorry. I have sensitive eyes you guys, and I can’t take glitter in my eyes. It takes DAYS for my eyes to recover from that so I just don’t do it anymore.

But, on just my eyelids, all of them work AMAZINGLY well. They stay put no matter what! There’s not much time to smudge if that’s what you like, so you gotta work fast. It’s enough time for me, so it’s all cool for you too. Once they set, they SET. You will need a waterproof eye makeup remover to take them off. And may I suggest the MUFE Sens’Eyes – Waterproof Sensitive Eye Cleanser-it’s my fave and doesn’t irritate my sensitive eyes. I think it deserves a separate review though, so stay tuned for that!

I love these eyeliners and use them all the time…when I DO wear makeup. Because to be honest, I don’t wear a lot of makeup these days. Eyeshadows for sure I rarely use, but if I feel like adding a bit of colour to my eyes, these Make Up For Ever Aqua XL Eye Pencil Waterproof Eyeliners are what I use and love. Just so easy! This is how you do colour on your eyes if you are an aging beauty junkie like I am! Eyeliners give that subtle pop of colour that won’t make you look crazy and like you are trying too hard. Yeah, that’s a thing that happens when you are getting older. It’s not right and I don’t agree with it at all. But, these eyeliners make it so much easier to be YOU, to express yourself still, even though the world tells you that you are TOO OLD to wear pastel pink on your eyes. SCREW THE MAN you guys, and get one of these eyeliners in a shade that is outside your office comfort zone!  And wear it! WITH PRIDE.

What kind of eyeliner girl are you? Pencil? Pen? Gel? And, do you do COLOURS like these?

Hoooweeee you guys, I didn’t mean to disappear for this long! But after I announced my awesome Bella Aura Skincare Giveaway(which btw, there’s still time to enter), I got SICK.
 photo IMG_7442.jpg

Not just a little sick, A LOT SICK. It’s been almost 2 weeks, and I’m still not back at 100%. My nose is still plugged. But the thing I’m really angry about, is that I had started spinning before I got sick and my ass was just getting used to the bike seat! Now I’ll have to get it all toughened up again… son of a SPOKE…  Oh well, next week I’ll be back at the gym. I feel so sluggish not being able to exercise for almost 2 weeks now.

Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour.jpg

Terry bought me some chocolate covered strawberries last week when I was sick. My favourite treat! He’s so sweet-whenever he sees them no matter where we are, he’ll buy some for me.

Speaking of treats, I got a care package from Larie @eyeheartit!

Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour.jpg

She knits me a hat every year and I LOVE them. And she threw in some skincare and chocolate too-she knows me all too well! Thank you my friend!

My favourite TV show, Downton Abbey ended a couple of weeks ago. And I’m STILL SO SAD you guys.

 photo IMG_7352.jpg

The KSPS Public Station used my Tweet on TV! It was kind of cool to see my tweet on TV, I have to say.

And then…our TV BROKE.

 photo IMG_7498.jpg

And of course the warranty ended in August…motherEFFERS…
We just got another LED TV, even though they are really pushing 4K TVs right now, and there isn’t even a lot of 4K content around. And until they start digging the ground up and putting fibre optic cables to homes, we won’t REALLY get true 4K anyways. I hate TV technology-there’s a lot of BS around it. Good thing I have a hubby that works in the biz to sort through the crap.

Being sick doesn’t mean that I didn’t buy any makeup though!

Essence Hidden Stories Highlighter and Eye Souffle

Picked up these two Essence Hidden Stories products at Shoppers on a trip to get some NyQuil.

 photo IMG_7528.jpg

They are both that spongey, mousse texture which I like. And man they are GOOD. That highlighter is amazing over cheekbones when wearing a cool pink blush-hello ice queen! And that shadow! It’s soft and squishy too, but it stays put all day with no creasing over a primer. I love a good cheap makeup thrill.

Alas, not everything I like is cheap though.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner

Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner.jpg

Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner

I got a sample of this Marc Jacobs Beauty Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner($30) from a Sephora Order and DUDES. This is the liner for my upper waterline I’ve been looking for! It’s really black! And tiny! And not hard so it doesn’t give that scary tickle when you use it-you know-that lining your upper waterline feeling that is not pleasant at all. It’s like the Hourglass version in that you should only twist up what you need, because you can’t retract it. But unlike that one, this Marc one STAYS PUT with no transferring at all. LOVE IT.

Ever buy a lipstick on vacation, and then totally forget about it because you are horrible at unpacking your travel makeup bag?

Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour Boudoir

No? Just me? Sigh. I bought this Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour ($34) in January at Downtown Disney and totally forgot all about it! MAN IT’S SO GOOD.

Swatchy Time!

Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour.jpg

Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour Boudoir

Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour Boudoir is a bright berry pink and I LOVE it. Normally berry lipsticks look horrible on me, always too much red in them and age me like 20 years. But this one? Is the berry lipstick of my dreams!

Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour.jpg

Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour Boudoir

I’m a little on the pale side lately again being sick and all, so excuse the pasty, tired face. I’m pretty sure I’m NC5-10 at the moment which is OK with me as I like my paleness. It just means that most of my foundations don’t really match all too well right now, but hey-my skin has been pretty decent lately so I don’t have to worry about covering up anything major these days.

But this Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour Lipstick formula is OUTSTANDING you guys and nobody mentions them! Smooth, thin, really pigmented-its so COMFY on the lips. I’d call it a silky matte, as it’s not totally matte but enough for me. It’s hydrating even! And lasts! It leaves a stain as it wears off which is great. I’ll definitely have to get another Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colour. I’ve been on a real lipstick buying mission lately. Give me all of them!

Ever buy a fragrance you loved in the past because you heard that it was being discontinued?

Lancôme Magie Noire

I remember LOVING Lancome Magie Noire in the 80s. It was…MAGICAL and witchy and oh so different from any scents out at that time. A little birdie told me that it’s saying bye forever, so I ordered a bottle from The Bay just for old time’s sake. And I still love it, even though they reformulated it. It’s kind of missing a bit of the green and the brightness it used to have, but it’s pretty darn close. I’m glad to have it back in my collection that’s for sure!

Laura Mercier Velour Lovers Lip Colourjpg

Happy Easter!

I think that’s about it! Again, I apologize for not being around lately, but this cold/plague really took everything outta me I tell ya. I’m so glad to be able to breathe again! And not cough all night long.

I have quite a few things to share in the next while, so stay tuned! Let’s get this beauty blog rolling again! Lost of new stuff and lots of skincare! I have a lot of work to catch up on.

And like I said at the beginning: don’t forget to enter my Bella Aura Skincare Give-away if you haven’t yet! It’s open to North America!

So Happy Easter Y’all!

Marcelle is a Canadian drugstore brand that’s pretty solid here in Canada, but truth be told, I kind of ignore them most of the time. But that’s about to change people! They’ve got some AMAZING new Fall 2015 products that are must haves in my beauty books. And they’re just as good, if not BETTER than most mid to high end makeup brands that have similar products. If you’ve been walking by the Marcelle section like me, then don’t anymore!

Marcelle Forever Sharp Eyeliner

Marcelle Forever Sharp Eyeliner.jpg

Marcelle Forever Sharp Eyeliner

Marcelle Forever Sharp Eyeliner($11.95) has a mess-free, self-sharpening, twist off cap that keeps the eyeliner precision sharp every time you use it. Kind of reminds me of those ones by Smashbox, hey? But these are cheaper, and so much better.

Marcelle Forever Sharp Eyeliner.jpg

Marcelle Forever Sharp Eyeliner

Even though it’s waterproof, it’s a smooth formula that just glides on easily. I found that the ones by Smashbox didn’t. You can even use these on the waterline as well, and they don’t irritate sensitive eyes like mine.

Swatchy Time!

And HELLOOOOoo look at this shade Taupe! It’s a must have. You gotta get it, otherwise don’t talk to me anymore HAHAHA. 😛

Marcelle Instant Eye Makeup Remover

Marcelle Instant Eye Makeup Remover.jpg

Marcelle Instant Eye Makeup Remover

Marcelle Instant Eye Makeup Remover($14.95) is enriched with Aloe Vera so it helps to soothe the skin around your eyes. But the best part about this dual-phase eye makeup remover is that it’s OIL-FREE. So it won’t irritate your eyes at all, or blur your vision momentarily after you remove your eye makeup. I HATE THAT. It takes off all eye makeup, even long-wearing, waterproof liquid eyeliner, I promise. One of the reasons I hate wearing eye makeup is because most eye makeup removers irritate my eyes and blur my vision for DAYS after. This one? Doesn’t. So worth picking up I promise!

I have a couple more loves from Marcelle’s Fall 2015 launches to show you, but these two are my favourites! Look for them at the drugstore! Stalk Shoppers Drug Mart if you must. You won’t regret it.  😀 😀

How you guys doing’? Sorry I haven’t posted in over a week, but if you follow me on Twitter and Instagram then you know that I’ve been in California since last week. We’ve been moving Marky into a house where she’ll be living with a few fellow classmates. She refused to dorm again this year and yeah, I understand for sure! This is a bit cheaper anyways to be honest. We had to buy her some bedroom furniture, so of course Ikea was our cheapest option. I’ll tell you this-carrying those heavy-ass Ikea boxes and putting together a bed, a desk, an Alex drawer in 106F heat was NOT FUN. Thank god we found a dresser in the As-Is section that someone put together and returned, because it was one less thing for us to do. All that work and sweating in extreme heat made my skin really unhappy though! Right now I’m trying to heal the most epic chin breakout I’ve ever had…  🙁

Drugstore makeup seems to be stepping up their game! At least Canadian brands are. Anything new at the drugstore  that’s surprised you lately?

I’m a huge fan of the Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayons. I don’t wear a lot of eyeshadow these days, so I like wearing eyeliner on my bottom lash line for some colour. I don’t usually wear eyeliner on my top lash line because who’s gonna see it on my hooded eyes? Waste of time for me.

When I saw that there were some new shades of the Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayons for summer, I instantly fell in love with the shade Orange Crush!

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Orange Crush!

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Orange Crush!.jpg

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Orange Crush!

It’s ORANGE! I don’t think I’ve ever owned an orange eyeliner! I thought it would be a great summer shade.

Swatchy Time!

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Orange Crush!.jpg

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Orange Crush!

Yes, there’s sparkle in it, which for me in an eyeliner I actually don’t mind, especially in this formula. The Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayons stay PUT all day on me, and so does the sparkle. I just love how it glows! So pretty!

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Orange Crush!.jpg

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Orange Crush!

I like wearing Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon Orange Crush! on my bottom lash line with just some bronzer in my eye crease-that’s it. It would look even more gorgeous if you wore some bronze eyeshadows with it- I might try that some day actually, when I feel like wearing eyeshadows again. For now, this is enough for me. My only warning about these eyeliners are that they are so soft and creamy that they can break easily, so be careful with them!

I love Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayons, and have my eye on the baby blue one called Blue Me Away to get next. It’s so pretty! And I can’t turn down anything baby blue as you know! It’s my Achilles Makeup Heel-I sees baby blues, I buy baby blues!

What’s your favourite pencil eyeliner? And what colour is YOUR Achilles Makeup Heel?

When I use eyeliner, it’s usually to just tightline my upper lash line. When I heard about Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner I was excited! Maybe THIS would be the ONE. The ONE EYELINER TO STAY PUT.

Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner Review.jpg

Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner

Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner comes in a pack of three($45 USD) or you can get a single for $16. Hourglass says that two clicks is all you need to line the eyes and each pencil lasts for approximately 17 to 20 uses.

Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner.jpg

Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner

So if 2 clicks is a use, then that means you get about 40 clicks for each pencil. I DID MATH, SEE? 😛 And if you know any bit of math, or just respect the math(My advice to to always respect the math. It’s the key to the universe kids.),then it’s pretty much needless to say that this is not a pencil you click all nilly-willy! Every time you click this eyeliner, you better make dang sure you need that click. Otherwise you are wasting this baby. Oh, and you can’t retract what you click either. What you click is what you get, and what you get you better use! THAT should be the tagline for this thing I think. 😀

Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner.jpg

Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner

Hourglass is 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner is an advanced gel formula in a pencil. Is it just me? or is everything advanced lately? Sigh. Unlike traditional gel liners, there’s no pot, no brush, and no clean-up required. This idea I really like though! And this is one tiny, thin eyeliner pencil that’s super SOFT. The smallest and thinnest eyeliner I have in my stash is the Tarte EmphasEYES High Definition Eye Pencil. I like that one, but it’s a little on the hard side if I’m honest. Hourglass’s version is SO much more better just for the softness aspect I tell ya. It’s pretty much perfect for lining between the lashes, and it doesn’t budge. Apparently.

Swatchy time!

Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner.jpg

Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner

Swatchy time after some water added and some rubbing and rubbing!

 photo IMG_9259.jpg

SO yeah, it’s not COMPLETELY budge proof. Although, it did take some effort to get it to break down like that. Not bad Hourglass! Not bad at all. I almost broke a sweat to get that picture!

Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner.jpg

Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner

What I like about Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner, is that it’s pretty dang easy to use. I tightline my upper lash line, then line in-between my lashes and smudge it. It smudges really well too as you can see, and looks so awesome. AND CLEAN, right? One con I have is what you see in that middle pic. It transfers to my lower waterline. Not right away, but in about 5 minutes time. It’s not a huge deal, but if you like your bottom waterline to be clean like I do, then maybe it is. Otherwise, Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner stays put every where else on my eye like nobody’s business! It’s pretty great for that.

I’m torn about Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner. I like it. But the cost per use is what I have a problem with. Although, I have to say kudos to be honest and telling us all about the clicks and usage upfront Hourglass. I respect that. Is this worth the money? You know, maybe. If you have a problem with eyeliners staying put, then yes. If you just want something that will stay put for those special occasions, then yes. Otherwise, I fear that logic dictates that the cost outweighs the needs of the few. Or the one, as Spock so profoundly pointed out. One of the best Star Trek lines ever. 😀

Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner is available on Sephora online right now, and will be in stores in Canada this week. Last word? Try it. If you don’t like it, you can always take it back. But I have a feeling you’ll probably end up keeping it. 😀

What’s YOUR favourite no budge eyeliner? I don’t think I have one that stays put no matter what, do you? Are we makeup junkies maybe just expecting too much? PERFECTION? GAWDDD, I hate that so much, so here it IS: Hourglass 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eye Liner is one of the better no budge eyeliners I’ve tried!

*product sent by PR for review, thoughts are mine as always. And thanks Hourglass, for letting me back in your circle of trust. Word dudes.

THIS is why I love Shu Uemura:

I want women to enjoy make-up more freely”

                                                          -Shu Uemura

Right? I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but that’s EXACTLY what I’ve been trying to get across lately here on the ‘ole blog. Sometimes, us makeup lovers take things too seriously imo. I know, for some it’s hard with work rules and all. But really, even if you can’t go full-on crazy with colour like I like to do, there’s ALWAYS a way to inject a little bit of fun into your makeup, right? Life’s too short to have an endless supply of browns and neutrals in our makeup.

And the Shu Uemura Eye Event Summer Collection 2014 is all about that! It’s full of colours and textures that will just inspire you to create playful eye make-up!

Shu Uemura Eye Event Summer Collection 2014

Let’s start with the Shu Uemura Prêt-à-Palette in Pink Hues($85).

Shu Uemura Prêt-à-Palette in Pink Hues.jpg

Shu Uemura Prêt-à-Palette in Pink Hues

Hello NURSE, is this a palette custom made for Tracy or what? I don’t even want to USE any other eyeshadows since this palette showed up on my doorstep! With one matte base, two shades to define, and three colours to shade? It’s the perfect pink palette! What else could I possible need?
Swatchy Time!

The shades from left to right are matte smokey dark purple, matte smokey dark blush pink, G pink 35, pearl rosy pink, ME light pink 126, M soft beige 813.  Shu Uemura eyeshadows are an experience that you need to have some day if you love makeup. I think their eyeshades blend all by themselves, swear to the makeup gods. The glitter shades which are the G shades are the only ones I could do without, but then I use them and think PRETTY. GLITTER. LOVE. So, eh-there’s a place for them in my makeup for sure!

Shu Uemura Drawing Pencils: ME green 51, G Gold 93, M Black 01, M Chesnut Brown 81

The star of the Shu Uemura Eye Event Summer Collection 2014 are the Drawing Pencils ($28). So soft, so blendable, waterproof, colourful and come in four different textures-they are AMAZING.

These are advanced pencil eyeliners, inspired by Shu Uemura’s Atelier Pro Palette. The blend of double waxes allows for soft and smooth drawing while staying solid. These pencils are amazing at filling in the gaps at the lash root and blended into the skin for natural looking definition. Or you can blend them into other colours for some really cool looks. I’m really digging that there are four textures too-mattes to define, mattes to shade and sculpt, light shades, glitter shades for brilliance, and one amazing matte white that Tracy DEFINITELY NEEDS LIKE YESTERDAY.

The shades with glitter don’t swatch all that well, but ignore that! On the eye? Divine! And boy they stay put that’s for sure!

Ok, enough chit-chat, let’s see these products in action!

Shu Uemura Prêt-à-Palette in Pink Hues

I love these Shu Uemura Eye Event Summer Collection 2014 products A LOT. The shadows are amazing, the liners are so smooth and easy to apply and last all day long no matter what.

Wait! I forgot to talk about the Shu Uemura Petal Lash Mascara($29), which also is part of the Shu Uemura Eye Event Summer Collection 2014. It’s an all-in-one-eye-opening mascara that curls, gives length and volume, yet still looks natural.

Shu Uemura Petal Lash Mascara.jpg

Shu Uemura Petal Lash Mascara

The pink blossom applicator was created for Asian eyes. It has a curved brush, and the bristle lengths are designed to fit well for Asian eyes. Meaning, it catches every last lash when you apply the mascara, spreading the formula from the roots to the tips. The wider base is what separates each lash.

Shu Uemura Petal Lash Mascara.jpg

Shu Uemura Petal Lash Mascara

Shu Uemura Petal Lash Mascara is also waterproof and MAN is it ever. It’s a bit hard to remove, and you’ll for sure need a waterproof makeup remover and even then, you’ll have to really do some rubbing! But it has some bamboo in the formula, so your lashes don’t feel crispy which I appreciate. If you have problems with your mascara always smudging on you, then this is one you’d LOVE. This is the mascara I’m taking with me on our road trip to California to drop Marky off at college, which is HOLY COMING UP QUICKLY YOU GUYZZZZ. UGGGGH. Imma’ gonna need to stock up on kleenex boxes for the trip home….   🙁

You can find all of the Shu Uemura Eye Event Summer Collection 2014 at Shu counters across Canada at Holts and Sephora, or online at www.shuuemura.ca. And in the USA, you can order online as well. OH and guess what!

Use the code: DRAW15 to get 15% off your Shu Uemura order!

There are 3 other eye shadow palettes that are JUST as amazing as the pink one. The warm brown one looks perfect. Personally, I have my eye on the Blue Morning Palette because you know-it’s blue. And I love blues!  And there are 21 shades of Drawing Pencils to choose from! You really need to check out the Shu Uemura Eye Event Summer Collection 2014!

Oh, and one more thing too! Share your summer looks on Instagram with the @shuuemurausa beauty community! Use #eyeloveshu in your photo caption to have your look featured in Shu’s summer eye gallery! You can even win $1000 worth of Shu Uemura makeup too!

How’s it going? I feel like I’ve been too busy and too sick to really connect with you all lately! But I’m here to tell you I’m feeling SO MUCH better now. And power walking even! Life’s good when all is well with your health, hey?  😀

*products sent by the lovely PR for review, thoughts are mine ask always and HEYYY can I say I’m so HAPPY that Shu Uemura thinks the same way about makeup as me? SO FREAKIN’ COOL.

I’m not a huge fan of the whole Marc Jacobs thing. Clothes, purses, shoes, and now makeup-nope. Not something Tracy likes. You know, it’s the whole logo/branding thing. I can’t stand that stuff. The old punk in me starts to get all jumpy whenever I get near that kind of stuff, so I try to avoid if I possibly can. I don’t like being a walking advertisement for some rich A$$whole.  😀  See? PUNK. ALWAYS A PUNK.

But these Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayons are something that have intrigued me ever since the makeup line debuted last year at Sephora. I like pencil eyeliners. A lot. But at $30 a pop, you know, it’s just a RIDICULOUS amount to pay for an eyeliner. Until one day, you’re browsing through Sephora and have OBVIOUSLY lost your freakin’ mind…and swatch one and then think HEYyyyyy baby, you look like really pretty and BAZINGA! It’s jumped into your little evil basket(I think those baskets are the DEVIL’S invention. They just make you buy more stuff. Say NO to the Sephora basket people. NOOOOO.)

That’s my story of how I ended up with Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon  (Luna)Tic 64 and I’m sticking to it. That and the name. How could I resist the name Lunatic for an eyeliner? It’s just freakin’ impossible. The only problem though? Every time I use this eyeliner I can’t help singing:You may be right! I may be crazy! But it just may be a lunatic you’re looking for! Sigh. And I’m not even a Billy Joel fan you guys. Seriously, I’m not. Remember, PUNK. But it’s amazing how song lyrics just stick in your head and remain there 25 years later… dang radio and the whole playing a hit song 50 times every hour in the 80s. I should sue you for damages….  😛

For some reason though, I can’t find a picture of my Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon (Luna)Tic 64 in my pictures folder? I have no idea why? But here’s a stock photo from Sephora’s website for you in case you need to see what a pencil eyeliner looks like. 😛 I’m horrible, I know. But seriously. It’s a pencil. Eyeliner. Not much else to show you, except it’s silver? And kind of long?

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon (Luna)Tic 64.jpg

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon (Luna)Tic 64

Swatchy time! Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon (Luna)Tic 64 is a pale, metallic, sparkly lavender. Which is another reason why I got it. I have no such shade in my vast collection of eyeliners.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon (Luna)Tic 64 .jpg

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon (Luna)Tic 64

So, these Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayons are supposed to be like a gel pot eyeliner encased within a crayon, and have extreme-wear, and waterproof.

You know what? I have to agree. Wow, these are SOFT. So be careful when you first use this! Don’t twist up too much, or you’ll break it. Like I did and BAM, there goes like $5 worth of eyeliner on the freakin’ floor. Yup. Not kidding. Be careful.

There’s a built-in sharpener on the end, so you can get a nice pointy tip if you like. But honestly, I don’t think these are made for precision eye lining. Which is ok with me. Soft liners like these are great for under the lash line, or for smudging on the top lash line. And that’s precisely how I use my Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon. Plus, sharpening this expensive eyeliner just wastes precious, expensive product! Don’t do it, unless you absolutely have to.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon (Luna)Tic 64 lasted through a 30 minute run on the treadmill today, and I even dabbed at my sweaty face and it was still there. And then? I went for an hour long walk after dinner with the hubby. It was 26C out. Liner STILL there. Not entirely intact, but there. This liner is no joke people. It’s the real deal. Although, I have to say if I were to intelligently think this kind of expensive purchase through, I’d have chosen a shade with no sparkle. You know why? Because it’s just so TENACIOUS and long lasting, that it’s actually pretty hard to remove it all! Sparkles and liner, they both like to stick around like nobody’s business. Even after a shower and using an oil-makeup removing cleanser I STILL had to use a makeup wipe to take care of some stray sparkles under my eyes. Wow.

Is Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner Gel Eye Crayon (Luna)Tic 64 worth the $$$? If you think it is, then that’s what matters. I personally am really loving this shade! The eye look you see up there, is pretty much all I do these days; I just change the eyeliner up so I don’t get bored. And this eyeliner doesn’t bother my eyes at all since it stays put so well, sparkles and all. So for me that’s a yay!

Are you a Marc Jacobs Beauty Fan? Or just an MJ fan in general? I do like his Spongebob Squarepants tattoo. I love Spongebob. One of my favourite cartoons to be honest. And guess what college the creator Stephen Hillenberg went to? Yeah, that’s right! CalARTS. The same college Marky is going to! Speaking of which-tuition is due. GULP.
