There are two tasty tidbits of information that I need to share with you this week! Let’s start with the Beauty Tidbit first, because one of my absolute favourite skincare brands, Consonant Skincare is now being sold on Sephora.ca!

All of Consonant Skincare’s 100 per cent natural products are created and produced in Canada and are made with the highest possible concentration of organic botanical ingredients. They are formulated to work in harmony with the body’s natural chemistry to improve the health of skin over time, rather than covering up irritating symptoms. Consonant Skincare is free of parabens, sulphates, petroleum ingredients, phthalates and silicone.

HydrGasm Kit Consonant Skincare

To mark the occasion, Consonant Skincare has created a hydrating skincare kit called the HydrGasm ($99) combining three of their essential skincare products to create the best hydrating and protecting skincare kit EVER!

HydrGasm Kit Consonant Skincare

The HydrGasm kit contains two of my favourite Consonant Skincare products,  HydrExtreme and The Ultra Moisturizing Face Cream-both which made my Skincare Faves of 2015 which you can read about HERE. I won’t get into too much detail about them in this post, because you can read about the ingredients and my thoughts in that blog post, but let me just say that if you have dry, flaky skin both of those Consonant Skincare products will change your skin in one day I promise. Especially, the HydrExtreme-it’s liquid GOLD I tell ya’. Heck, this kit is a great deal because that bottle of HydrExtreme alone is $72.  Consonant Skincare The Perfect Sunscreen is something I’ve always wanted to try, and it’s freakin’ AWESOME. If like me you’ve been searching for a 100% natural sunscreen that leaves no white residue and is not greasy at all, then this is it folks.  It gives you SPF 30 Protection with Zinc Oxide and Titanium Dioxide minerals, and has hydrating  aloe vera, grape seed and rice bran oil to moisturize. It has a touch of natural mica tint too, which I think is great because it evens out your skin tone just a touch. If I’m going to be out all day in the sun, I prefer to not wear foundation that’s just going to slide and melt off my face. This sunscreen makes me look more even toned and I like wearing it on its own. But it also works well under a foundation too, so it’s a winner for me! The Consonant Skincare HydrGasm Kit is a great way to discover this awesome, natural Canadian brand. They have other kits as well that you can get to discover the brand, and they also sell all the full-size products as well. This makes me really happy!

Oh, and hey by the way! ShopBop is having their annual Tiered Spring Sale and it starts today!
main_20160301_tiered_launch

The sale ENDS March 5th at 11:59pm Pacific Time. This is a great sale to make bigger purchases with your friends and family to get maximum savings, because the more you buy the more you save. This is a good time to get a dress for graduations and any other events coming up. I know I’ll be looking for a dress for Marky, because she needs a pretty one in May for the animation producer’s show that her college puts on.

Just click on this link to get all the details about the sale: https://www.shopbop.com/ci/3/lp/discount-promo-coupon-code.html     Happy Shopping!

I’m kind of digging how Sephora is trying to sell more Canadian brands and more natural, organic brands too. It’s a great idea! What do you think of this new direction the company is taking? And have you got any special occasions coming up this year and need a great dress or two? Indulge me as I never have any fancy events to attend hahaha!

So, Hey! Tatcha Skin Care is now available at Sephora Canada! In case you’ve never heard of Tatcha Skin Care, well it’s a pretty luxurious line that’s inspired by Geisha beauty secrets. Everything Tatcha makes is well loved and has an almost 5 Star rating on Sephora, which is pretty unheard of when it comes to a skincare line. What makes Tatcha so loved? Well, Tatcha uses Camellia Oil in their products, because that’s what Geisha used to remove their makeup and moisturize with. Camellia oil, also known as tea seed oil is actual green tea oil and has higher percentage of omega-9 oleic acid than olive oil. Other good for your skin ingredients include Green Tea, Red Algae, Rice Bran and Silk.

Tatcha Skin Care

Tatcha Pure One-Step Camellia Cleansing Oil($58)

Tatcha Skin Care.jpg
This stuff has a serious cult following. It’s an oil cleanser, which I think most of us have tried by this time in our beauty journey. Along with Camellia Oil, this cleanser also has Japanese rice bran oil to nourish and protect the skin. No mineral oil in this one! You use it like other oil cleansers by rubbing the oil on dry skin, and then emulsifying it with water and then rinsing it off.  I don’t like using oil cleansers to remove my eye makeup though. I’d much rather use a micellar cleanser. Oils bother my eyes, and this one is no exception. It works fine, but I find that you need at least 3-4 pumps to remove all  traces of makeup, which I think is kind of a lot for a cleansing oil. It does leave skin feeling soft and supple, but I do feel the need to use the next product right after so that my skin doesn’t break out. Me and oil cleansers just don’t get along very well and this one is no exception. Oh well, such is life! But hey, most people LOVE this stuff, so if you’ve wanted to try it then go ahead I say!

Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder($78)

Tatcha Skin Care.jpg

Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder

Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder is an exfoliator, cleanser, and toner. It uses Japanese rice bran blends with papaya extracts and crushed pearl to gently exfoliate and buff away dead skin. I keep mine in the shower, as I find it’s just easier to use and rinse off during my shower. It does a nice job of exfoliating and leaves your skin smooth and not dry at all. Do I like it better than my Amore Pacific? I find this one is grainier and harder to get dissolved completely. It pretty much works the same though, but I think I still prefer my Amore Pacific over this one.  The Amore one feels creamier, finer and doesn’t smell like cardboard rice haha. Sorry, that’s what it smells like to me. 😛  I think it’s a great product nonetheless and worth trying for sure!

Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist($58)

Tatcha Skin Care1.jpg

Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist

This is probably my favourite product in the line that I’ve tried-wait, no second fave haha. I’ve never used a mist like this-it’s got so much good for your skin stuff that I can’t get over it!
It has squalane, red algae, whole plant green tea, rice bran oil that you spray on with the most superfine mist I’ve ever experienced. It soothes and softens your skin and gives it a glow! You can also use it to set your makeup(better if you have dry skin though), but I prefer using it before starting with my skincare routine. The smell is a little strong for me, but that’s the Camellia Oil scent I think. It’s kind of a sour green scent? But I put up with it because my skin really likes this stuff a lot! I’ll definitely be buying this when I run out. LOVE.

Tatcha Supple Moisture Rich Silk Cream ($180)

Tatcha Skin Care.jpg

Tatcha Supple Moisture Rich Silk Cream

HOOWEE this baby is expensive! But, the good news is that this jar will last you FOREVER. Like 6-8 months at least.

Tatcha Skin Care.jpg
See that little spoon? That’s ALL you need to cover your entire face and neck. That’s it. The light gel-cream texture has liquid silk that binds moisture to your skin. It also has all the other ingredients in most of Tatcha’s product. It really leaves your skin smooooooove baby, and makes a great base for foundation. I like it a lot, but $180 is pretty steep, even for  a skincare junkie like me. But hey, if you’re getting a big fat tax rebate, then you could Treat Yo’ Self to this! Personally, I’d rather use my rebate on a trip to Disneyland but hey, who am I to judge? 😀

Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Lifting Mask($34 each, or $114 for four)

Tatcha Skin Care.jpg

Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Lifting Mask

This is probably the BEST sheet mask I’ve ever tried. It’s a coconut-derived biocellulose mask that really sticks to your skin, and allows the antiaging complex of whole plant green tea, rice bran oil, and red algae really do their job. It’s like a high power treatment of all of Tatcha’s products in one 30 minute treatment. And the results last for DAYS. It’s rare for me to be able to see a mask’s benefit beyond two days, but with this one my skin is so hydrated, soft, smooth and glowy all week long. Yup, they’re expensive. BUT YUP THEY WORK. These would be great if you have a big event coming up and you want your skin to look amazing. The Tatcha Luminous Deep Hydration Lifting Mask is my number one favourite product that I’ve gotten to try, and I think they’re worth every penny. I’ll always make sure I have one on hand for when I think my skin needs some major hydration.

Tatcha Skincare has taken the beauty world by storm over the last few years. It’s not cheap that’s for sure, and I kind of see that being a bit of a problem for Canada. They should make a discovery kit available here like they have in the USA. That way it’s a bit more affordable for beauty junkies to try out this luxurious brand before committing the big bucks needed.  At least, that’s what I think!

Have any of my fellow Canadians tried anything from Tatcha yet? I know most of my American friends have and pretty much love everything they’ve tried. But as a Canadian, I want to hear what you think? And if you’ll be indulging in any of the products now that they’re easily available to us?

Every year, L’Occitane creates a one-of-a-kind, limited-edition Shea Butter product to celebrate International Women’s Day. But this is a special year for two reasons! 2016 is the 40th anniversary of L’Occitane. Happy Birthday L’Occitane! And 2016 also marks over thirty years of cooperation between L’Occitane and the women of Burkina Faso, who produce all of the company’s shea butter. Today there are more than 17,000 women involved in the cooperatives, where they are paid over three times the market price for their shea butter.

L’Occitane’s 2016 Women’s Day Solidarity Balm combines Shea Butter with the scent of rose, which makes this healing balm extra special. And you can use this anywhere you need some extra moisture like lips, elbows, knees, cuticles, – pretty much everywhere and anywhere you want!

L’Occitane’s 2016 Women’s Day Solidarity Balm

The brightly coloured design and motifs on the tin are inspired by wax-print fabrics, which are worn by Burkinabé women during special ceremonies. L’Occitane’s 2016 Women’s Day Solidarity Balm retails for $6 each. 100% of the profits will finance NGO projects for women’s leadership in Burkina Faso, with the support of the L’OCCITANE Foundation. L’Occitane is hoping to see that donation reach 281 000 € worldwide, so let’s help them get to their goal! This is a cause every beauty lover should support!

L’Occitane’s 2016 Women’s Day Solidarity Balm will be in stores on February 22, 2016 and will remain past International Women’s Day, which is March 8th, 2016.

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm has a pretty cult-like following in the beauty world and it’s well-deserved! But did you know that there’s a whole range of Nuxe Rêve de Miel products that will replenish, soothe and repair dry and sensitive skin? And that they’re mostly natural and contain no parabens?

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Winter Care

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Winter Care.jpg

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Winter Care

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Makeup Remover and Facial Cleansing Gel $19

This soap-free cleanser with honey and sunflower smells so GOOD. Like honey and flowers together! I love using this in the morning because of the lovely scent. It makes waking up smell so pretty! I massage a bit of the gel onto damp skin and then rinse it off. My face feels so smooth and soft after, and not dry at all. I find it does an ok job at taking off my makeup too, but I don’t wear a lot of heavy foundations. If you do, I’d use a makeup wipe first.

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Hand and Nail Cream $17

My new favourite hand cream! With Honey, Sunflower, Precious oils and Vitamin E it does an awesome job of nourishing and moisturizing dry hands. And it smells so good too! Same scent as the face cleanser, just a bit longer lasting. I swear I can pick out orange blossom and even some lilac in the Nuxe Rêve de Miel scent. It’s kind of addicting! It’s such a comforting scent, that is especially lovely right now in the dead of winter. Although it’s RAINING here right now. It’s the weirdest thing when it rains on top of snow…. and not the safest to walk on after let me tell you.

Nuxe Rêve de Miel Ultra-Nourishing Lip Balm $17

I’ve been using this lip balm for years now, and I am never without it. And I always send some to Marky in California too. It’s my favourite lip balm at bedtime because it stays put on my lips and doesn’t disappear during the night. Right now I’m suffering from cold sores, and they’re at the extremely painful stage where they’re drying up and trying to heal. I apply a tiny bit on them to prevent the cracking and bleeding that’s ruining my days right now hahaha. Works like a charm! Oh, and btw-it’s a GREAT cuticle softener too!

There’s also a day cream and a body cream in the Nuxe Rêve de Miel line and I know I’m getting those as soon as I can get to a Shoppers Drug Mart. I haven’t been to one in quite awhile actually! See, that’s what being sick does to you-interferes with your Shoppers Optimum Points gathering!

Have you tried any of these Nuxe products? Once you do, you’ll never be without I promise!

MIYU Beauty believes that Beauty Is A Lifestyle. I agree! 20% of skin ageing is inevitable and genetic and WILL happen to all of us. The other 80%  of ageing is lifestyle and environmentally driven. Things like UV exposure, poor diet, lack of sleep and stress all have an effect on our skin and can make us age a lot quicker.

Connie Tai, the founder of MIYU Beauty realized that her lifestyle was having a negative impact on the health of her skin when she was living in New York. Skin sensitivities and breakouts were plaguing her, so she started reading about Traditional Chinese Medicine. The whole philosophy that lifestyle affects our health and our skin made Connie realize that she could clear up her skin by making some lifestyle changes-inside and out.  So that’s what she did! Connie is a true pioneer in the “beauty from within” movement-the ultimate goal is to match what you do on the outside with what you do on the inside. Tea is an easy way to achieve beauty from within since it’s naturally full of antioxidants and skin loving ingredients already. And so, MIYU Beauty was created! We can all benefit from MIYU Beauty’s philosophies that skin is a mirror of your lifestyle, complexions are nurtured from within, and that the secret to everlasting beauty is happiness.  🙂

MIYU Beauty is developed for ALL skin types, as it takes into account what your lifestyle is like and not just what skin care woes you have. The products are free from parabens, phthalates, sulphates, synthetic dyes and fragrance too and of course, cruelty-free as well. All of  MIYU skincare products contain three signature Chinese Beauty ingredients: green tea for skin protection, white peony for radiance and pearl for preservation of youth.

Miyu Beauty Hydrate MI Duo-Enhance Your Skin’s Ability to Retain Water ($42)

Miyu Beauty.jpg

Miyu Beauty Hydrate MI Duo

I’m pretty sure MIYU was the first North American company with an essence which is hugely popular in Asia and is just now starting to get popular here. MIYU Hydrate Mi Beauty Essence is a spray serum that hydrates, tones and gets your skin ready for moisturizer. Wild pansies boost hydration levels by 20% in 28 days, and goji berries and mangosteen will give your skin some serious antioxidant protection. I LOVE IT. It’s one of the BEST essences I’ve ever used. If you haven’t tried an essence yet, this is a great one to start with. It gives your skin this light and effective burst of moisture you will love. My skin just loves it and drinks it right up, and it gets rid of that tight feeling right away. And it smells SO good too-not overpowering at all. I get floral and tea notes and it’s very soothing and calming. You can also spray over your makeup as well for an instant refresh any time of the day. Fan for life!

Miyu Beauty.jpg

MIYU Hydrate Mi Beauty Tea

MIYU Hydrate Mi Beauty Tea is an antioxidant loaded blend of green rooibos, goji berries, rose petals and sweet snow pear. It’s fruity and I look forward to having a cup(or two  😛 ) every day!  Who knew fighting free radicals could be so delicious?! Plus you get Vitamin C from the berries which helps make more collagen!

MIYU Beauty also has another duo, the De-Stress Mi Beauty Essence and Tea that soothes stress-induced aggravations. I plan on ordering that duo for Marky, because the lack of sleep and stress is showing up on her skin big time right now, poor thing. I feel so sorry for her! But mama can help get her skin all better over Christmas Holiday thanks to MIYU Beauty!

Do stress and poor lifestyle choices show up on your skin? I think they do for all of us!
