Every time I leave the house to go to the drugstore or to the mall, I swear I see a new lipstick! It’s freakin’ crazy lately, but kind of fun if you love lipstick like I do. Today, I have two matte liquid lipsticks to show you and I guess compare, because one is drugstore being Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick and the other is…I don’t know what is Stila considered these days? I guess mid-range territory? Although, all the mid-range makeup is getting pretty high-end in the money department if you ask me lately. Anyways Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick is the second one I’ll be showing you. Which one does Tracy prefer?

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick in Nude Flush

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick in Nude Flush

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick(now, I got this on sale for $8.99, but it can be as high as $12.99) in Nude Flush is the drugstore option. I haven’t bought a lot of drugstore makeup lately, but this caught my eye. Frankly, the other colours looked scary bright in the tube even for me, so I went the safe route picking an easy to wear, nude pink.

Swatchy Time!

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick Nude Flush.jpg

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick Nude Flush

First off, this has a weird smell that I just can’t put my finger on? It’s not really strong, but it’s there just so you know. Enough for you to go, what the HECK is that smell?!! And then you wrack your brain for days trying to figure it out, but you STILL can’t quite pinpoint the weird scent. I think it’s like liquorice with a slight floral skincare scent? Or perfume even? Almost as if you sprayed your perfume on your neck, but your aim was off and you hit your lips a bit. THAT’S IT MAN.

 photo MAYBELLINESAM_1704.jpg

Maybelline Color Sensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick in Nude Flush becomes slightly more matte as you wear it? But not completely. This is a thick and creamy formula that doesn’t really set on your lips and never really becomes all that matte. And like I said it moves around, which is ok, because you can smoosh your lips and it kind of refreshes everything. It does stain your lips a bit, but it doesn’t have great lasting power like a true matte would. It’s not drying at all which is cool and all, but if you were expecting this to be matte like I was, well it’s not. I don’t hate it, but I don’t love it either. I’ve also heard that some of the darker shades apply a bit patchy, so if you’re planning on getting one of these, I’d suggest looking for reviews first. I won’t be picking up another, that’s for sure. It’s just too movey-around-my-lips for me and I don’t like worrying if my lipstick has become a moustache, ya’ know what I mean?  😛

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Baci

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Baci.jpg

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Baci

Man, I love a simpler name. Just call it what it is man: liquid lipstick, not vivid matte, color sensational, dancing all over the place crap. LIQUID. LIPSTICK. That’s it. I know these Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks have been out for awhile, but none of the shades ever appealed to me-until I saw this shade.

Swatchy Time!

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Baci.jpg

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Baci

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Baci($31) is a dusty, grey mauve. It’s a shade that everyone seems to go nuts for lately. And this is MATTE. MATTE. MATTE. No moving around, no sheen, and no weird smell that’ll keep you guessing for days.

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Baci.jpg

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Baci

Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Baci is pigmented, easy to apply, and comfortable too! And it stays put. It claims 6 hours wear, and doesn’t transfer at all. Depending on what you eat, you may have to touch up a bit, but pfft-it’s not that bad really? And you CAN do that, without ruining your previous application, or causing it to flake off. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick settles a bit into lip lines, but not all that bad. Your lips won’t look like the Crypt Keeper’s, that’s for sure. This is a real winning MATTE formula and worth getting in my opinion. I’ll be picking up another shade for sure.

What’s your favourite liquid MATTE lipstick?

Sorry, I don’t get the Winter Blues. I used to though! But the last couple of years I’ve decided to embrace Winter and just decide in my mind that I LOVE WINTER. And it freakin’ worked I tell ya’! But I know that my weirdo ninja mind tricks might not work for everybody, so I really do understand that you can’t stand the weather right now. And February is particularly trying because mother nature and that freaky rodent who is scared of his shadow can’t decide if it should be COLD or if it’s time to start warming up and head towards spring. So where am I going with this hahaha? I’ll tell ya’ where: Get yer self one of these new Annabelle BigShow Lacquers and dude, you won’t CARE what the weather is doing or not doing!

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers .jpg

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers

I’ll be the first to admit I’m not a huge drugstore makeup loving’ gal, but these Annabelle BigShow Lacquers WOWED me! And they’re only $9.95 each! Like HELLOooo that’ll make you smile in the middle of February, right? 😀 😀

Swatchy Time!

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers.jpg

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers: Adore Simply, Caress Tenderly, Kiss Sweetly, Enchant Romantically, Hypnotize Deeply, Love Fiercely

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers are glossy, a little sparkly, have LOADS of pigment, and comfortable as heck! They’re kind of like a pigmented lipstick yet shiny like a gloss, with the lasting power of a lip stain. I call it the LIPGLOSAIN, 😛 ’cause that’s what it is.  😀  Hey, I calls ’em like I sees ’em.  😛

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers Adore Simply is the perfect nude gloss!

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers Adore Simply.jpg

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers Adore Simply

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers Caress Tenderly is a bright coral! It’s a bit brighter in person than the pic shows even. This shade will be so perfect come spring time!

Annabelle .jpg

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers Caress Tenderly

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers Love Fiercely is a bright true red.

 Annabelle .jpg

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers Love Fiercely

Kiss Sweetly is a baby pink that’s not too Barbie.

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers Kiss Sweetly .jpg

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers Kiss Sweetly

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers Enchant Romantically is a bit brighter of a pink. I’d call it an 80s pink, and trust me dudes-I know what an 80s pink looks like since I wore this shade on my lips, cheeks and clothes! I think I even had a pair of shoes in this shade!

Annabelle .jpg

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers Enchant Romantically

Hypnotize Deeply is a deeper fuchsia pink, even a berry pink I’d call it. It’s really perfect for this time of year.

Annabelle.jpg

Annabelle BigShow Lacquers Hypnotize Deeply

I can’t even tell you which of these shades of Annabelle BigShow Lacquers is my favourite, because I love them all! The colours are so fun and bright! Although, I do think the pinks look a bit too close in shade, at least on me. It was hard for me to not get mixed up remembering what colour I was wearing when I took the pics, but hey-that could also be because I’m getting old, so… 😛 ! But, they all looked good on the lips, so that’s still cool with me! They feel so good on the lips too. Not sticky at all. They do have a slight fruity scent, but nothing overpowering like say a Clarins Lipgloss(WOW talk about fruit punch overload on those babies) and the scent doesn’t last for long, so yay for that! They do stain your lips a bit, but they aren’t transfer proof and won’t last through a meal. There will be a hint of colour that survives your burrito, but that’s about it. And that’s ok with me! To be honest, I’m not a fan of lipsticks that claim to last through a meal. That can’t be good for you or your lips, ya know what I mean?

Pick one of these Annabelle BigShow Lacquers! I promise it’ll help make dark, dreary, boring February fly right by! And before you know it, spring will be here!

Do you get the Winter Blues? What helps you get through this last bit of winter weather?

Have you heard about The New Beauty Department At H&M? The fashion house has decided to dive into the world of makeup and beauty. The Beauty Department at H&M has it all- makeup, bodycare, fragrance, nail polish and even haircare. And the best part is that it’s all pretty affordable too.

H&M Smoky Nudes Eye Colour Palette $12.99

The Beauty Department at H&M.jpg

H&M Smoky Nudes Eye Colour Palette

Cheaper than a lot of drugstore palettes, hey *cough*cough* L’oreal*cough  😛   Here’s the swatches, just click on the image to enlarge it:

The Beauty Department at H&M.jpg

They’re ok as far as eyeshadows go. Actually, they kind of remind me of Bobbi Brown eyeshadows in her palettes, not the singles. They feel soft, but are thin in texture and need to be built up a bit. But they do blend well. Makes for a nice easy day look, but you can get a nice evening, smoky eye look as well with that darker shade. That sparkly shade though has major fallout, so beware of that.

H&M True Matte Finishing Powder $12.99

The Beauty Department at H&M.jpg

H&M True Matte Finishing Powder

A velvet matte texture that feels light, yet controls shine in the T-zone. There is some kick up from your brush since it’s a soft texture, but it looks pretty natural on the skin.

H&M Pure Radiance Powder Blush Apricot $12.99

The Beauty Department at H&M.jpg

H&M Pure Radiance Powder Blush Apricot

Soft in texture as well-all the The Beauty Department at H&M products feel pretty soft when you swatch them. Looks matte in the swatch, but gives a lovely glow to the cheeks. This shade is pretty light in pigmentation. If you’re darker than NC20 in MAC, it probably won’t show up on you. It took quite a few layers to show up on my skin.

H&M Cream Lip Colour Candy Apple $12.99

The Beauty Department at H&M.jpg

H&M Cream Lip Colour Candy Apple

Creamy is right! Lots of pigment, and has a gorgeous shine to it. And this colour is a WOWZA shade for sure, although not sure why it’s called Candy Apple? I think it’s too orange to be called that. I do think a lip liner is needed to keep it from traveling. I’m getting old so creamy lip products like this need help in staying put and not ending up on my chin. 😛  They have matte lipsticks as well, so I think I’ll pick one up to try some day.

Here’s what everything from The Beauty Department At H&M looks like on my face:

The Beauty Department At H&M .jpg

The Beauty Department At H&M

The Beauty Department At H&M products I’ve tried I would classify as really nice drugstore quality. But I think they’re better than a lot of drugstore makeup out there? I haven’t tried a lot of drugstore makeup lately though, so I guess I’m not a very good judge and shouldn’t say that. But drugstore makeup, especially eyeshadows and blushes rarely impress me. It’s not that I don’t like drugstore makeup, it’s just that up here in Canada, it’s SO GOSH DARN EXPENSIVE LATELY for meh products. And I’m sorry, I won’t pay more than $12.99 for anything drugstore, and I think a lot of beauty junkies are like me. H&M hit that price point right on the money, but their foundations do cost $14.99 so…. eh…getting a little pricey dicey there for me haha. H&M has LOADS of products-there’s eyeliners, concealers, glitter dust, brow stuffs, foundation, primers -it’s the full meal deal we’re talking about, not just some snake in the pantyhose makeup line.  😛  I’m pretty interested in checking out the shower gels and hair products. They’ve got a Beachy Keen Salt Water Cream for hair. A cream! Not a spray! I’m intrigued!

Here in Edmonton you can find The Beauty Department At H&M at West Edmonton Mall.

Have any of you tried anything from the line yet? What do you think? And what’s your opinion on drugstore makeup prices up here in Canada? Do you agree with me?

Whenever I hear a product is supposed to magically match skin tone, I give it the evil eye. I really don’t think makeup can DO that. I mean, sure-makeup CAN be quite magical, but match skin tone? PFFT.

I was presently surprised at how well Almay Smart Shade Skin Tone Matching makeup worked for me!

Almay Smart Shade Skin Tone Matching Makeup.jpg

Almay Smart Shade Skin Tone Matching Makeup

Almay has these one-of-a-kind shade sensing beads with TONEMIMIC technology that adjusts to your unique skin tone for seamless, natural looking coverage. I think the word Almay uses is INTUITIVELY. That word kind of scares me. Like TERMINATOR MAKEUP dude. SKYNET is making makeup for us now HAHAHAHA! I keep saying it’s just a matter of time before the machines take over us, and now? Our makeup will too… 😀 And truth be told, I kind of resent the implication that my makeup INTUITIVELY knows how to match me better than I ever can… I think I’m taking this shade-matching technology a little too personally… 😛

Almay Smart Shade Skintone Matching Makeup.jpg

Almay Smart Shade Skintone Matching Makeup, Almay Smart Shade CC Concealer + Brightener Smart Shade Concealer

Almay Smart Shade Skintone Matching Makeup comes in three shades: light, light/medium, and medium. The Almay Smart Shade CC Concealer + Brightener Smart Shade Concealer plus Brightener is a neat idea. This dual shade concealer has a brightener that highlights features while the corrector evens out skintone, corrects discolorations and minimizes redness. All that good stuff that a concealer is supposed to do.

Ok, here’s what those two products look like on me!

 photo ALMAYBEFOREAFTERPicMonkeyCollage.jpg

Naked Face, Almay Smart Shade CC Concealer + Brightener Smart Shade Concealer in Light, Almay Smart Shade Skintone Matching Makeup Light

Not bad, hey? I really LOVE the Almay Smart Shade Skintone Matching Makeup, which surprised me. It feels so nice and light on the skin and does a decent job of evening out skin tone without looking like I have a ton of makeup on. It doesn’t emphasize pores, isn’t really heavy on the silicones(YAY) and has SPF 15. But let’s get real-it can’t MAGICALLY sense your skin tone and adjust to it. I mean, C’MON. I wasn’t born..I’ll let YOU guess that one. All of these adjust-to-your-shade-makeups have those little beads of pigment that burst when you rub ’em in. It’s not like some burst, and some don’t, ya know? They don’t really know if they should or should not burst? YET. At least until SKYNET really comes online….

BUT, it’s not a bad match, for ME at least. I can’t say it’ll match you as well as it does me. But if you’re around my skin tone(MAC NC15 or NW 15 depending on the day-I’m kind of Neutral and can lean both ways depending on the day), this shade might work well for you too.

The Almay Smart Shade Skintone Matching Makeup Light is a neat idea! I like it, just wish it was a bit more moisturizing. It’s a drier texture, and reminds me of MAC Studio Fix Concealer. It’s ok, but as you can see not enough for my dark circles. If you have just a bit of under eye discolouration, then this might work well for you. This old lady needs more. 😀

Almay Smart Shade Powder Blush comes in three shades, a coral, nude and this pink. It’s SO CUTE with the polka dots!

Almay Smart Shade Powder Blush.jpg

Almay Smart Shade Powder Blush

It has three shades of colour, so when you swirl them all together, it supposed to create the perfect blush shade for your skin. Again, not really JUST for YOU I say. But it’s pretty!

Swatchy Time!

Almay Smart Shade Powder Blush Pink.jpg

Almay Smart Shade Powder Blush Pink

I wasn’t expecting it to be so shimmery! But there it is-a cute, cotton candy pink blush with some silvery shimmer. It’s really light though. Almost too light for me, but you can see it on my cheeks. But just barely.

Almay Smart Shade Skin Tone Matching Makeup.jpg

Almay Smart Shade Skin Tone Matching Makeup

I put a bit of MAC Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Medium over top of the Almay Smart Shade Skintone Matching Makeup Light along with the blush on my cheeks. Honestly, I feel Almay Smart Shade Powder Blush Pink would make a better highlighter for me, or as a top coat for a matte blush that needs something extra. It feels pretty smooth in texture, and I had no problem blending it out. I just had to pile it on to get it to show up for this picture is all! If you are really pale, then you should look at this blush for sure. Gotta love the glow it gives though!

Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm in Nudetrients.jpg

Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm in Nudetrients

Oh, and I’m wearing the Almay Color + Care Liquid Lip Balm in Nudetrients, which is a really pretty nude gloss. I didn’t swatch it, because it doesn’t have a lot of pigment to it. But WOW, it feels really good on! Like a lip balm, but it’s a gloss! My lips feel really good when I wear it, and after as well. It’s in my purse now to use whenever I like. When something makes the purse lip collection, you know it’s good stuff, right? RIGHT.

I haven’t tried a lot of Almay makeup before this, and all in all I was pleasantly surprised! I like the foundation and the gloss a lot, and think they are worth looking into if you’re at the drugstore and looking for something new and affordable.

And Happy 4th Of July to all my American friends!
I hope you’ve all had a good week! I’m still not feeling up to snuff to be honest. Stupid disease. But, I think I’m going to try to exercise today at least. I’m getting tired of feeling tired and not be able to do the stuff I like! Wish me luck!

*products sent by PR for review, thoughts are mine as always. Especially the ones about Skynet…damn machines.

I don’t know why, but I’ve rarely paired purples, greens and peach together but BOY, I am loving it now! I have a few pieces from the Art Deco Love Is In The Air Collection to show you, and each one is pretty outstanding!

The Artdeco Love Is In The Air Collection eyeshadows($8 each) are perfect spring-like colours. Faded Line(#251) is a light lime tone, Emerald(#253)is a dark green, Violet(#273) is a modern purple and Lavender(#275) is a gentle lilac. I was sent Violet and I’m in purple HEAVEN you guys. Artdeco eyeshadows are soft and smooth, and apply easily. They work really well over their eye primer(which is still my favourite primer EVER made). The limited edition Beauty Box Quattro($14), has a pretty design I’m loving too. I’m pretty sure I’ll be getting the other eye shades soon! And the case!

The Artdeco Soft Eye Liner Waterproof($11) in Emerald #63 is extremely long-lasting and once dried, it’s smear and waterproof. WOW what a great eyeliner! It’s applies easily with no tugging and sets fairly quickly and does. not. budge. This may be my new favourite eyeliner, and I really want the other shade, Blue Violet(#91) now.

The Blusher($14) in the shade Gentle Touch (#10), is a peachy apricot that’s PERFECT. Soft, smooth, blends easily and gives cheeks a glowy, fresh spring blush! LOVE.

The Artdeco Love Is In The Air Art Couture Lipstick Velvets($22) comes in two shades-a rosewood and the shade Happy Kiss 13.96 which I have. It’s pretty much the same shade as the blush-a beautiful peachy apricot that’s easy to wear, even for me! It’s creamy, pigmented and really comfy. Leaves lips feeling nice and moisturized, lasts about 4 hours and doesn’t feather or bleed.  More LOVE!

The Ceramic Nail Lacquer($12) in Emerald Mirror(#233) is a metallic, shifting green-blue shade.

Artdeco Love Is In The Air Spring/Summer 2014 Collection

Artdeco Love Is In The Air Spring/Summer 2014 Collection is a winner for me! [emoji thumbs up sign] You really need to check it out! Artdeco is sold at select Shoppers Drug Mart locations across Canada. Just check the site for the nearest one near you. And a fair warning- their Summer 2014 Collection called Jungle Fever by the way, looks AMAZING.

Do you wear purples and green together? How come you never told me how good they look together [emoji grinning face]? Both of these shades don’t make a huge appearance in my makeup collection actually, so I think that’s why I’ve never worn them together. I’ve been slowly adding some purples to my collection, but a light lime green is something I don’t have. Mint? Yes. But Lime? Nope! Although this violet shade might look really good with mint, hey?

*products sent by the lovely PR, but as always, my thoughts and words are mine as my crazy is just too damn hard to control. Ask my husband. He’ll tell ya  [emoji smiling face with horns]
