Cover your ears, because I’m tired of being PG.  😛

Me right now: TIRED. AS. FUCK. #TheTragicallyHip

If you don’t follow me on Instagram or SnappyChat…and hello WHY NOT…DO IT HEY…and to be honest I love Snap Chat MORE than Instagram…So, AHEM….you’d know that I’ve been BUSY. Lot’s of BUSY. We had to move Marky to an apartment for her third year of college in California. Let’s just say the house she lived in last year with 5 girls? FOUR OF THEM MOVED OUT. #crazyroomate And because me and Terry are nuts and like road trippin’, we decided to drive her back to California. And heck it was fun! And worth it! I think haha…although my brain is having trouble realizing I’m home finally because the first morning home I woke up to go pee at 6 am and thought: Where’s the stupid bathroom? And MY GOD, what a SHITTY HOTEL ROOM this is…  😀 😀 After all the cool hotel rooms I’ve been in I think I need to redecorate around here!

Ok, wanna see some pics? You got it! Comin’ up!

Montana was our first drive through:

 photo IMG_1102.jpg

That’s about all I have to say about Montana. WIDE. OPEN. SKIES. OH, and the speed limit is almost non-existent there…85 miles an hour which is DRIVE AS FAST AS YOU CAN in kilometres. #truth

Utah

Of course the first place we go to the night we hit Utah is a liquor store LOL. MAN, what a line-up! Never seen so many people wanting booze before. But we got a 50 cent piece as change! Cool!
 photo IMG_1122.jpg

SO, in the middle of downtown Salt Lake City is a HUMONGOUS square dedicated to all things historically Mormon. It’s…something.

 photo IMG_1114.jpg

Big main temple. Fucking HUGE.

 photo IMG_1116.jpg

Another church. I don’t know what it is man. But it looks POINTY. #howmanypointytowerscanwestickonthischurch #DeadliestChurchEverBuilt

 photo IMG_1121.jpg

Were the Osmands part of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir?

The massive pipe organ where the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sings, which is another church in the square. True story: they started a demo of the amazing acoustics there, and one girl started tearing a piece of paper in half. I turned to Terry and said: What is happening here…Is she doing a magic trick? 😀 😀  You can’t take me anywhere nice I tell ya’ 😀 😀 Oh, and plus there was a library, and numerous other huge buildings. Never seen so much downtown real estate taken up with church crap in my life. Oh, and STATUES….of Jesus…and the mormon dudes…and the moment Jesus told those sick dudes: HEY, You can have MANY WIVES…all the wives… and this all happened during the WILD WILD WEST of the USA too….like get BENT how can you believe this stuff?!!! #sorryifyouareMormon #waitmaybeNO #sorryNotSorry

But, to be honest we really liked Salt Lake City! It’s a pretty city, with loads to do. And there’s loads of hiking around there, and you know I love hiking. So, I think we’ll probably go back and spend more than 2 days there next time. Maybe even next summer.

Next stop was the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah which has been something I’ve wanted to see FOREVER. Pretty much ever since the movie Warlock came out and they buried that Witchcraft Bible book in there LOL!

 photo IMG_1166.jpg

SO WHITE. And HOT.

 photo IMG_1136.jpg

Marky made a saltball!

 photo IMG_1168.jpg

Salty!
 photo IMG_1318.jpg

Next stop, Santa Rosa, California where Charles Schultz lived and drew my fave comic of all time.

 photo IMG_1224.jpg

I almost cried walking up to the museum. Almost.

So much Snoopy!! LOVE.

 photo IMG_1174.jpg

 photo IMG_1188.jpg
I didn’t know this one tidbit:

 photo IMG_1189.jpg

I want this window in my living room!

 photo IMG_1213.jpg

I could show you SO MANY MORE PICS of Snoopy and The Peanuts Gang, but I’ll spare you haha. If you are a fan, I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area!

San Francisco:

 photo SAM_4058.jpg

It’s just one of my fave cities ever.

 photo SAM_4053.jpg

Haight and Ashbury is always a fun place! So many cool people with hair cooler than mine LOL! I tell ya, it was a huge love fest walking down the street with people telling us they loved our hair and with us telling them we loved THEIR hair LOL!

 photo IMG_1253.jpg

Japan Town…you have to eat there. You just have to.

 photo IMG_1232.jpg

We also stopped by the Walt Disney Family Museum in the Presidio and they had a Pinocchio Exhibit. To be honest, one of my LEAST fave Disney movies, but you gotta appreciate the art work. No pics were allowed so SHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhh don’t tell anybody I took this pic of the cossack puppet…I’m a descendant of Kozaks, so it’s my right….Right? HAHAHA!

 photo IMG_1260.jpg

Next stop was moving Marky’s stuff into her new apartment. Putting her bed back together. Shopping for more things she needed. Ikea in Burbank? IS HELL ON EARTH. So much work. And I hate Ikea Burbank. #worstIkeaEver

But all that work was rewarded with a trip to Disneyland of course!

 photo IMG_1285.jpg

That’s the old front entrance sign which is now a decoration at the Disneyland Hotel Pool HAHA

And a trip to the Santa Monica Pier!

 photo IMG_1310.jpg

LOADS of tourists here my god

And then it was time to say goodbye to Marky. It was HARDER this time you guys I don’t know…last year it wasn’t so bad. But this year? UGGGH. I don’t know, as she gets older she gets more sentimental herself I think? So she cries…and then then I cry…and yeah…sob scene. And we left the apartment. And then texted her to come for lunch LOL. And then we had to say goodbye AGAIN. I’m a glutton for punishment, what can I say. I just had a hard time leaving her this time.

Drive back home was nice though. We stopped in Seattle which is another one of my fave cities.

 photo IMG_1373.jpg

Seattle Pike’s Place Market AKA EAT ALL THE FOODS

 photo IMG_1362.jpg
 photo IMG_1517.jpg

Then, home. And you realize she’s really not that far when it only takes 3 days to drive back home to those amazing Alberta sunsets. But I still miss her.

 photo IMG_1575.jpg

What did I buy on the 3 weeks away? Not much to be honest?!! More food things and snacks since we were driving and could take stuff like that home easily. Arrowhead makes this sparking water that’s watermelon flavoured and I LOVE IT and of course it’s not sold here. So I brought a few over the border.  😀  But these oils are one of my fave beauty buys ever!

Shea Moisture Pure Oils

Shea Moisture.jpg

Shea Moisture

They’re little bottles of pure oils by Shea Moisture and you can get them at Target(I MISS YOU TARGET) and WOW SO GOOD. Just a few drops added to my hair conditioner, hair masque, body lotion, DRY hair even- and instant fix! LOVE them all Shea Moisture! And only $9.99 each! I do hate the pumps though as they don’t work well, and be forewarned that the Monoi one will solidify if it’s cold in your house when you get back from a 3 week road trip. #yayforcold

And that’s why I haven’t been around for the last…OMG it’s been 4 weeks hasn’t it???!!!

It has. OOPS. Yeah, well I ain’t apologizing to any PR for anything. I’m back! And I’ll get to posting about stuff again I promise as I am rejuvenated and ready to blog…maybe… 😛

I’ve missed everyone! I hope you are all still there HAHAHA! And still around to talk to!

Over the summer I’ve been trying and using a LOT of different skincare. One brand I was super grateful and excited to try out was For Beloved One, which is a top-selling premium skin care brand from Taiwan.

For Beloved One.jpg

For Beloved One

In Canada, you can find For Beloved One products at T&T locations across Canada and also online at YesStyle.ca, and Amazon.ca as well.

For Beloved One Hyaluronic Acid Tri-Molecules Moisturizing Surge Cream($94.99)

For Beloved One.jpg

For Beloved One Surge Cream

This is a face cream that can be used daily, morning and evening. It’s kind of the hallmark moisturizer of For Beloved One. It combines trace elements found in minerals with water to activate the skin’s protective mechanisms. So lightweight, this gel melts instantly into skin with a cooling effect. Rich in copper, the malachite essence found in the cream helps to keep moisture in to relieve dryness. There’s also aquaphyline that hydrates skin and forms a protective layer to lock in moisture, which also helps to keep that moisture in your skin. It also contains an interesting ingredient called Exo-H. Exo-H increases the production of hyaluronic acid in the dermis and activates the skin’s self-hydration mechanism by drawing water from the deeper layers of the body to the skin’s surface. As you can tell, everything in this cream is for hydrating and KEEPING your skin hydrated. I REALLY like this one! After a couple of weeks of using the Surge Cream, I noticed that my skin was so well hydrated and not flaky at all. I think any skin type could use this one too, even oily skins. But if you have a oilier skin I’d use it only once a day not twice.

For Beloved One Melasleep Brightening Daily Defense Cream($55)

For Beloved One.jpg

For Beloved One DD Cream

A DD Cream! My first one I think! There are three DD creams(rose, peach and lavender), all of which offer skin SPF45.

  • Rose tint adds a healthy skin complexion to fairer skin tones.
  • Peach tint strengthens foundation for a natural and even skin tone.
  • Lavender tint improves dull, sallow and blemished skin.

For Beloved One Melasleep Brightening DD Cream contains a revolutionary ingredient, Purisoft® LS 9602, Moringa Pterygosperma Seed Extract. This is really cool science actually! It’s a positive micro-protein that forms a protective membrane on the skin’s surface which carries a micro negative electron. Dirt particles are positive charged, and since like charges repel each other, pollutants and dirt are unable to adhere to the skin! Neat huh? There’s also Aquaphyline in the DD Cream as well, to help retain and replenish moisture.

For Beloved One.jpg

For Beloved One Peach DD Cream

I have the peach tint, and I really like it! It does a pretty great job at evening out skin tone and it really brightens it up too. You can kind of feel a protective barrier on your face when wearing it, but it doesn’t leave my face greasy at all. It works well under makeup too as a primer/sunscreen. My only problem with it is that it’s a bit pricey for the amount you get I think. Would I rely on this as JUST my sunscreen? Yup! To effectively cover your face you need at least 1/4 of a teaspoon. And I say at least that much, because it does depend on the dimensions of your face. But also remember that most of us don’t apply ENOUGH sunscreen. So, I always imagine 1/4 of a teaspoon when I dispense SPF into my hand, and that’s what I apply, sometimes more. 1/4 teaspoon is about 1 ml, so that’s about a month and half or so one tube will last. Oh, and the active sunscreen ingredient is Titanium Dioxide which is another plus for me as I prefer mineral sunscreens on my face. Because it is on the pricey side, I prefer to use this on no makeup days, setting it with a bit of powder and that’s it. I’ve just finished the tube I was sent, and have re-purchased another to take with me this week on our 3 week road trip so, that should tell you that I like it a lot.

For Beloved One Hyaluronic Acid Tri-Molecules Moisturizing Bio-Cellulose Mask($63)

For Beloved One.jpg

For Beloved One

These masks are AMAZING. For me they rank right up there with the Tatcha Sheet masks that I love, but those babies cost $34 each. Definitely special occasion masks only. These are expensive too-you get 3 masks for $63, but $21 per mask is a bit more tolerable. Yeah, I know still expensive! But if you want to whip your skin into shape fast these masks will do that! Made with a web-like fibre that’s actually 1/133 as thick as other sheet masks, they hold a lot of serum which is great. The combination of this fibre with the serum allows the mask to actually hold onto the contours and grooves of your skin, actively seeking out wrinkles and fine lines. It’s a smart mask, and its like getting an extra huge shot of the Surge Cream. It infuses your skin with hyaluronic acid, malachite and copper peptide to energize, hydrate, and firm your skin in 15-20 minutes. I leave my masks on for as long as possible, until I feel there isn’t much product left, and this one I leave a good 45 minutes on. SO SO GOOD you guys. Worth every penny!

For Beloved One is a skincare brand that I’m so glad I got to discover and share with you guys. These three products are top notch. Yes I know, they are on the pricey side. But they work and work well. I’ve scouted out the brand at T&T, and sometimes you can find trial sets so that’s what I would do if you’re interested. When I repurchased the Peach DD Cream, I actually bought it in a set that came with 2 mini DD Creams in lavender and rose which was cool and it didn’t cost more than just getting the DD Cream on its own. So there are deals to be found! Personally, I tend to spend my money these days on skincare, and not on makeup. But that’s me, as I’m more on the side of trying to keep my skin at its best so that I don’t have to wear a lot of makeup as I age. For Beloved One has a few other interesting products that I’d love to try and probably will once I get back from the road trip.

What do YOU spend most of your beauty money on? Skincare? Or Makeup?

With Marky home for just a couple of more weeks, I’ve been shopping a bit more than usual. More so for her as I like to stock her up(and maybe spoil her) as much as I can before she heads back to California. If we can get something here that she uses or needs, it’s by all means better for my wallet because of the lousy exchange rate. But of course, a few things slip into my shopping basket that are for ME hahaha!

Marc Jacobs Air Blush #502 Lines and Last Night($57)

Marc Jacobs Air Blush #502 Lines and Last Night.jpg

Marc Jacobs Air Blush #502 Lines and Last Night

Man, I love this New Marc Jacobs Air Blush! I’ve been wearing it every day since I got it. The colour is a perfect peachy pink and the texture is sublime. It’s a powder that just melts into the skin and blends so easily and perfectly onto cheeks. There’s just the right amount of glow and it lasts all day. I’d love to get another, but seriously this is HUGE and how many more blushes does this blush fiend need? Don’t answer that question  😛

Marc Jacobs Air Blush #502 Lines and Last Night.jpg

RMS Unpowder, Clinique Chubby In The Nude, MAC Velvetease, Marc Jacobs Air Blush

The RMS Unpowder is something I’ve been using a lot this summer. This is the tinted version in 01, but it’s the same powder as the untinted one. It’s so fine and virtually invisible on the skin, but boy does it ever minimize pores and does a great job at setting foundation and keeping my t-zone shine free. Plus I love that it’s talc free, silicone free, perfume free and paraben free.

Clinique Chubby In The Nude($29) was a why not I’ll try it kind of purchase, and I actually really like it a lot. This is the lightest shade 02 Abundant Alabaster which isn’t very alabaster at all. If you are paler than me which at the moment I am NC20 in MAC talk, then unfortunately you won’t find a shade to match. It’s creamy, blends easily with fingers and looks natural on the skin. It’s not full coverage, but is buildable to medium coverage I’d say. And that’s why I like it because it’s NOT full coverage like most foundation sticks. Like have you swatched that new Hourglass one? HOOWEE loads of mask-like pigment baby! Not for me at all! I like using this Chubby Stick to just even out my skin tone a bit and cover up redness, and it does that perfectly for me. I do like setting it with a bit of the RMS Unpowder though, and it lasts for the day. Fast and easy!

MAC Velvetease Lip Pencil in the shade Anything Goes is AMAZING. If you can still find this in stores then grab it. Matte, comfy, so easy to apply, lasts FOREVER without drying my lips-I’ve ordered a back up already. It’s the perfect pinky red shade!

Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Corrector Light Bisque 2

This is a great dark circle corrector that’s creamy, which is perfect for my aging eyes.

 photo Unknown.jpg

Bobbi Brown Intensive Skin Serum Corrector Light Bisque 2

You don’t need a lot, so be careful when you dab it on because the doe foot pulls a LOT of product out. And I am NOT one of those crazies that puts a ton of concealer under my eyes. Personally, I just use two dots just on my darkness, and then blend with either my fingers or the tiny tip of my beauty blender and that’s it. The peachy shade does a great job at brightening up my eyes which lately I need as for some reason I haven’t been sleeping all that well.

 photo IMG_0679.jpg

I repurchased the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist($58). What can I say, I like it. A lot! I love using this especially when I shower in the evening but it’s still too early to put my nighttime skincare on. I spray this on my face and it soothes my dry skin just enough that I don’t feel the need to put any serums or creams on until I go to bed a couple of hours later. It works for me.

 photo IMG_0681.jpg
The Hylamide C25 Stabilized Vitamin C Booster($38) is a staple in my skincare routine, and now in Marky’s as well as she loves it and stole mine. It’s a great, affordable Vitamin C serum that works pretty well at lightening up spots and acne marks. This is a new bottle for me, plus I got another for Marky to take with her to college.

 photo IMG_0683.jpg

And lastly, the Murad Clarifying Wipes($22) I repurchased to take with me on The College Road Trip #2. Yeah, we are driving Marky back to California. Again haha. You see, she’s moving into a new apartment September 1 and we are helping her AGAIN. But we’re also suckers for road trips and loved the last college road trip, so it was a unanimous decision to do it again. Although, we are going a different route this time on the way there, so that’ll be fun. I think. Is Utah fun? You tell me LOL! Anyways, I like having these wipes in my backpack to refresh my face in hot sweaty weather. Terry likes them too and will use one when I offer him one, so that’s something. And I find wiping my face when it’s hot and sweaty really makes a difference in breakouts appearing. Plus, it’s a good way to make sure you reapply sunscreen again!

What are some of your recent shopping loves? Or Repurchases? And have you any ideas about things to do and see in Salt Lake City?

Me: Hey Terry, so what do you think of the Live Clean Mens 2 in 1 Shampoo?

Terry: What Live Clean Mens 2 in 1 Shampoo?

Me: The one I put in the shower for you to try?

Terry: I didn’t see it.

Me: It’s RIGHT THERE ON THE FRONT SHELFIE THING.

Terry: Oh. I didn’t see it. I’ve just been using the stuff in the white bottle.

Me: HOW CAN YOU NOT SEE IT? It’s BLACK. AND IT’S RIGHT THERE. And it says MENS on it? And what white bottle? The only white-ishy looking bottle in the shower right now is a Live Clean Argan Oil Shower Gel? And I sure hope you haven’t been washing your hair with that??!!

He never answered my question, so we will NEVER KNOW now.  😛

SHEEEEEEEESH… men. Seriously. Or maybe just my man haha. It’s hard to get him to try anything new. He’ll keep wearing socks and underwear with holes in them until I finally see them. You see, he’ll do the laundry sometimes which is a YAY, but now I’m thinking it’s because he doesn’t want me to SEE the holes. Because when I see them, I throw them out! The dude just doesn’t like change. But he finally did try the new Live Clean Mens 2 in 1 Shampoo, and… BY GEORGE, HE LIKES IT!

Live Clean Mens 2 in 1 Shampoo and Classic Clean Shampoo .jpg

Live Clean Mens 2 in 1 Shampoo and Classic Clean Shampoo

Live Clean Mens Classic Clean Shampoo and Live Clean Mens 2 in 1 Shampoo are terrific products that will get your guy’s(or gal’s) hair looking and smelling good whilst tackling any scalp issues he may have. I don’t know about your better half, but mine has a LOT of hair and it grows really fast too. He needs a hair cut every month and I’m not kidding about that. And when his hair gets too thick and too much, it suffocates his scalp and problems start to appear-like flaky skin and breakouts too. That’s not a healthy scalp at all.

Live Clean Mens 2 in 1 Shampoo and Classic Clean Shampoo are designed to cleanse, moisturize and condition the scalp with Power Tech3™, Live Clean’s proprietary blend of Organic Tea Tree Oil, Organic Peppermint Oil and Organic Jojoba Oil. Organic Tea Tree Oil has astringent and anti-bacterial properties to help deep cleanse your guy’s scalp. Organic Peppermint Oil stimulates the scalp, leaving it ever-so-slightly tingling and bringing all that good healing blood flow to the scalp. And Organic Jojoba Oil is there to naturally moisturize the scalp. Those three organic oils will fight flakes, control oil, and improve the health of your busy guy’s scalp. Or busy girl because hey, I tried the 2-in-1 and it was really nice after an extra sweaty Zumba class! My scalp felt really refreshed! As for the conditioning, well it wasn’t bad either, but I have curly hair so I added some leave-in-conditioner and all was good!

Some guys don’t need a conditioner after they wash their hair, so Live Clean Classic Clean Shampoo is for them. Live Clean Mens 2 in 1 Shampoo does it all, adding just the right amount of conditioner without weighing down your man’s hair. Both have a great scent too-it’s clean, and slightly woodsy, without being SMACK DUDE smelling, if ya’ know what I mean. It’s subtle and fresh, which a guy likes. Some guys don’t want their hair smelling like mango. I know I don’t like my hair smelling like mango either. These shampoos smell good.

And again, like I always like to point out: ALL Live Clean products are: Natural, Plant Derived, SLS/Sulfate Free, Petroleum Free, DEA Free, Paraben Free, Dye Free, Silicone Free, Phthalate Free, Phosphate Free, Pure Vegan, Never Tested on Animals, and the packaging is made from Recyclable, Biodegradable Ingredients.

And so, guess what? Because I love Live Clean so much and Live Clean loves me too, they’ve graciously donated 3 sets of Live Clean Mens 2 in 1 Shampoo and Classic Clean Shampoo to Giveaway! WAHOOOO, right? Right!

I’m sure you’ve all seen the whole POWER OF MAKEUP videos all over the internets….I know, they’re a few months old, and I’m a bit late to this little GAME… 😛  it’s all just a game, you realize that by now I hope? Yes.

And of course, I support the whole makeup makes me feel better movement…BLAH, BLAH, BLAH… BUT.

BUT.

Must we REALLY wear SO MUCH of it to make ourselves feel better?

I know I don’t have to. And I’m gong to show you that neither do YOU. Because for CRIPES sake you guys… I am 49.5 years old…if you are anywhere’s UNDER that number? You really DON’T need to wear a ton of makeup.

Me. NO MAKEUP. NONE. Going to Zumba in the morning like I do pretty much every day.
makeup.jpg

I like my face without makeup, and if you know me, I often go out and about without anything on my face. In fact, I met one of my readers for the first time and who has become a good friend btw without a STITCH of makeup on my face…ok lie…I was wearing a bright pink matte lipstick that I shared with her….but still…nothing else was on my face. That’s how comfy I am in my own skin. It’s MY skin…and I take damn good care of it! I am never scared to leave the house without any makeup on my face. #OwnIt

BUT, heck… I am a beauty blogger. I like makeup! And just a TINY bit of makeup? Makes just that much of difference for me.

makeup.jpg

All I’m wearing is a bit of foundation-Giorgio Armani Maestro Glow Nourishing Fusion Makeup in case you are wondering, and I LOVE it….if you want a full review let me know in the comments and I shall obey. Also mascara-I find mascara really makes me look wide awake. Also BLUSH. Hey, once a blush fiend, always a blush fiend! I do have a natural rosy cheek, but if I wear foundation, I really do like adding back that colour to my cheeks…it just makes me look younger, right? NO CONTOUR. NO HIGHLIGHT. NO COLOUR CORRECTOR. None of that crap is what I use in my every day makeup.

Also, just a bit of lip balm…most days that’s all I wear when I’m out. Although lately, I really have been enjoying a lot of lipsticks and wearing them, because I just don’t wear eyeshadows anymore. I give up man. I don’t care anymore about new releases, I don’t want to care, and I don’t buy them or any palettes anymore. DONE. Like a good steak dinner I am done. I just don’t see the point of them now. With my aging, hooded eyes, you won’t see any eyeshadow, right? So WHY bother? Yeah, that’s my view now. Waste of time and money for me. But hey-you do YOU and I’ll do ME, right? It’s just makeup, and it’s all fun in the end.

So, there you go…what just a LITTLE bit of makeup can do for you. And I don’t mean to dis the whole LOADS of makeup movement…wait…maybe I do HAHAHA. I am really, REALLY tired of all the LOADS of makeup I see on such young and pretty faces these days. It’s alarming! And I don’t understand it at all?! If someone can enlighten me and explain it all, please do so??!!  I’m a true GEN-X, and if you are like me, then you also don’t get the whole I WANNA BE LIKE so and so that’s going on these days. My generation was all all about being an individual and doing YOU and not listening to THE MAN…hahaha I guess now I’m talking about the makeup man! Why does everyone want to conform so badly and look the same? What is driving this insanity? Why aren’t girls happy with their faces? IT BOTHERS ME SO MUCH.

I’d really like to know what you think. I have my own thinks, but I want to hear YOUR thoughts. Let’s chat about makeup these days and what’s going on. Maybe you have some thoughts that I haven’t thunk! SHARE.
