Can I say that I really miss Arrested Development? And how happy I am that it’s coming back for a short season on Netflix before the long awaited movie that us fans have been demanding finally comes out? I AM SO EXCITED.
My new Laura Mercier Book Of Nudes that I got for Christmas is not for Never Nudes though.
Cracks me up every time!
Anyways, back to Laura Mercier Book Of Nudes:
Laura Mericer’s Book Of Nudes contains 8 eyeshadows, one cake liner, one cream bronzer, one cream blush and a cream highlighter in a convenient palette that’s just perfect for throwing in your purse, and taking with you on vacations as well.
The shadows swatched in order are:
Buff (matte finish/ soft neutral cream)
Tiger’s Eye (sequin finish/ sparkling chocolate brown)
Sandstone (sateen finish/ pale peachy pink)
Bamboo (luster finish/ golden brown shimmer)
Baroque (sateen finish/ warm terracotta)
Fresco (matte finish/ neutral beige brown)
Granite (matte finish/ smoky gray),
Cocoa Brown (sateen finish/ shimmering brown)
Swatched in order: Tightline Cake Liner in Ground Espresso, Bronzer Veil , Veil (matte rose peach), and Glow Veil (radiant neutral beige shimmer).
This is a great little palette if you are light-skinned, however it is rather on the warm side. Even the grey shade is rather warm. I wish it had some cooler browns in there as well to round things out, but I still feel it works for me. The eyeshadows are a bit sheer, about the same as the Guerlain palette. They build up in intensity nicely EXCEPT for Tiger’s eye. That shadow is a total fail. It’s really hard and near impossible to get any of it onto your brush. I had to actually scratch mine to get product onto my brush. You have to really layer it to get any kind of colour payoff. It’s a shame, because it is so pretty of a colour. The cake liner is fantastic and I love using it to tightline my upper lash line and water line. Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Liners are one of my favourite liners out there, and one you should consider trying it out if you have limited lid space like I do.
The cream blush and bronzer are very easy to blend and use. They have a bit of an oily feel to them which I don’t mind because I have dry cheeks, but if you have oily cheeks you might want to set them with a powder.
This is a nice palette to have if you are a neutral girl at heart like my twin Tracy@My Best Beauty Buys. And lately, I’ve been spending time on the neutral side as well and am enjoying it I must say.
It’s a great no-brainer palette to have when you want a quick, easy every day nude look with the versatility to darken up your look.
I don’t think it’s available online @Sephora anymore because I think it was a LE item, but I’ve still seen a few of them in stores if you’re interested.
Seems like a few of the makeup companies are coming out with nude collections paired with bright lips. MAC’s Naturally collection comes out this week as well.
What do you think?
Are you guys feeling the nudes? That sounds so wrong, hey? My daughter calls me Tobias(Arrested Development) because I somehow can make everything sound inappropriate. What can I say-it’s a gift.
