Another great and affordable eyeshadow palette I picked up is Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trio in Cool As A Cucumber:
These shadows are great! They are definitely pigmented and smooth. I loved this colour combination a lot and think they are really great fall colours. I also enjoy that they’ve labelled the colours as to where you place them on your eye-great idea for a sleepy morning! Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trios come in 6 colour combinations too if Cool As A Cucumber doesn’t suit your fancy.
Wet n Wild Color Icon Eyeshadow Trios are definitely a great affordable Back to School makeup purchase.
It’s almost that time here in Canada-Back to School! I decided to go to Walmart the other day and get some affordable and good quality makeup for some new Back to School looks to show you over the next couple of days.
I bought this NYC IndividualEyes Palette in Bryant Park for Blue Eyes:
This little palette has 4 shades of eyeshadows that are supposed to intensify your eye colour(there’s one for brown and green eyes as well). It also has a primer and an illuminator.
NYC IndividualEyes is not a bad little palette I must say. The pigmentation is a little sheer, but the colours are very buildable and blend pretty well. The primer is actually not half bad either. I was pretty impressed by NYC IndividualEyes. The colours are all quite pretty and wearable and this did make my eyes a bit bluer I must say.
NYC IndividualEyes palettes are a great affordable Back to School makeup item. I would pair this with the NYC Blushable Creme Stick in Plaza Pink. Here’s a link to my review on it:
In Canada, you can find NYC Cosmetics(specifically this palette) at Walmart and at Rexall Drugs.
As I’m getting older, I am noticing that dark circles seem to be making a permanent home under my eyes. Sigh.
Walking through Shopper’s Drug Mart the other day, my tired looking eyes spied this baby on the shelves:
Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller.
The package said that it would instantly reduce dark circles and brighten the eye area.
Now I love the original Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anit-Puff Eye-Roller so this was a no brainer for me to buy and give a try.
Garnier Skin Renew Anit-Dark Circle Eye Roller contains a caffeine gel that works in conjunction with the rollerball to stimulate circulation and wake your eyes up. It also has lemon essence to brighten and of course, it contains mineral pigments to conceal the dark circles.
Swatched on my skin you can see the mineral pigment in Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller. It’s quite sheer so it’s a colour that would work on a lot of people.
Swipe Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller twice under your eye from the inner corner to the outer corner and let it sit for a few seconds. Then use your fingers to blend the product in and Voila! you have instantly brighter eyes and less dark circles visible. I still use a concealer, but I do need less of it I’ll say.
Overtime, Garnier Nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti-Dark Circle Eye Roller promises to diminish those nasty dark circles too. Yay!
I do believe that Laura Mercier Moisturizing Foundation in Blush Ivory is my Holy Grail Foundation.
When I feel I need more coverage this is the foundation I’ve been reaching for. Laura Mercier Moisturizing Foundation is highly pigmented- a little goes a long way. It’s made for drier, mature skins.
Laura Mercier Moisturizing Foundation has a pump applicator which is great for dispensing the right amount and not contaminating your foundation.
I use my Sephora Platinum Airbrush # 55 to apply it.
I find that gives me a nice light finish. A damp sponge would also be a good choice in applying Laura Mercier Moisturizing Foundation and would give a more sheer coverage.
Laura Mercier Moisturizing Foundation covers the bit of redness in my cheeks perfectly. I also find that it lasts all day on me- I easily get a good 12 hour day out of my Laura Mercier Moisturizing Foundation.
I adore my Laura Mercier Moisturizing Foundation. It makes my skin look radiant and beautifully flawless, which is what Laura Mercier is all about- The Flawless Face. If you haven’t tried any of her foundations, I suggest that you check out her line. I know that there’s one that will suit your skin and make you as happy as I am!
Make Up Forever Rouge Artist Intense Lipstick is a new product for Make Up Forever and it’s fantastic. These are highly pigmented long lasting lipsticks that are made with 50% more pigment than your average lipstick Boo Boo! The colour just glides on so smoothly and is not drying. They come in three finishes: matte, pearly and satin. The one pictured here that I received is
#29 which is described as a satin rosewood:
I thought this colour was too dark for every day, but it is actually a very nice neutral colour for an every day lip for Fall. Very pretty indeed. This is making me looking forward to going back to work/school!
I just realized I never posted about my two other Make Up Forever Aqua Cream colours in #14 and #15.
#14 is a warm brown and #15 is a taupe brown. They are both shimmery.
#14 is on the left, #15 on the right
I do really like the Make Up Forever Aqua Creams-they are very highly pigmented and do last a long time. I like using mine more as a base to intensify my eyeshadow colour rather than wearing them on their own. #14 is close in colour to Antiqued by MAC and #15 is close to Satin Taupe also by MAC.
The one thing I have to mention about the Make Up Forever Aqua Creams is that they dry out REALLY fast. I don’t know if you can tell from my picture or not, but my #14 is starting to pull away from the edge of the container-like when you bake a cake. It’s starting to dry out! So make sure that you close your Make Up Forever Aqua Creams up tightly after you use them. Tightly! Or another good idea would be to take some out that you need for a week or so and put it into a little travel jar of some kind. That way you’re not opening up your original Makeup Forever Aqua Cream container every time you use it. I think this would extend the life of them tremendously.
I thought I would show you a few of my favourite Bare Escentual Eyeshadows. I’m getting back into using them again. I’d fallen out of love with them because I was finding they didn’t last very long on my oily lids, but now that I use a primer plus Mac’s Painterly Paint Pot, they are becoming my fast and easy eye look.
My favourite Bare Escentual eye colours are called Glimmers. They are really soft and translucent eye colours that can be worn in the day or amped up for night. They can be used dry or wet.
My first two are Nude Beach( pinky warm sand) and Celestine ( taupe ivory):
Because Bare Escentual Glimmers are so light reflecting, I find that just one colour on your lid and blended into the crease adds dimension and looks like you spent a lot more time on your look. Add some eyeliner and mascara and you have a pretty eye look!
