If you’ve never tried the MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Foundation, then you are seriously missing out on probably one of the BEST foundations out there.

Make Up Forever has now made it even EASIER for you to try out their best selling HD Products by putting together the new HD Complexion Starter Kit!

The HD Complexion Starter Kit($89) contains four of MAKE UP FOR EVER’S amazing products: HD Microperfecting Primer, HD Invisible Cover Foundation, HD Microfinish Powder and a Kabuki Brush-everything you need to get you naturally flawless skin in three simple steps: Prep, Cover, Finish.

All of these products were of course created to be used in front of high definition video cameras, and if it makes actors look flawless on TV and film, then imagine what it does in real life. YEAH, that’s what I’m saying!

First, off let’s talk primer. Included in the kit is the Original MAKE UP FOREVER HD Primer. It’s oil-free, moisturizes and prepares a nice even smooth canvas for your foundation. It helps your foundation to last longer too. It has a slightly flowery scent to it, which dissipates after application. I found my skin looked luminous after applying the primer.

I kind of forgot how awesome the MAKE UP FOREVER HD Foundation was. When I worked part time at Sephora many moons ago, this was the foundation of choice that we(colour consultants) would test on someone who would come in looking for a new foundation. Why? First off there’s an amazing shade range. There’s a shade to match pretty much EVERYONE. It comes in 26 shades so you’re bound to find one to match you. It’s oil-free, gives medium to full coverage and lasts all day. It leaves you looking flawless with a luminosity-not like GLOW, but a like how a diffuse light would illuminate your face. A Healthy glow. If a bride came in looking for a foundation for the big day, this is what we’d recommend most of the time. I remember trying it out back then, but as I got crazier into makeup I kind of forgot how much I love using this. It works so well at covering flaws and is great to use when you want to look your best. The only thing is that I have to make sure my dry skin is really well moisturized before using it, and the MUFE HD primer does help with that.

The MAKE UP FOR EVER HD Powder is a translucent finishing powder made from 100% mineral silica. It sets the foundation and slightly mattifies your skin and softens the appearance of imperfections. There’s no talc, so it’s not drying at all. It gives you that airbrushed look and helps your makeup stay put all day. The kabuki brush is a great little brush to use with the HD powder. It’s super soft and does a great job of making sure you don’t use too much of the powder-believe me-you only need a tiny bit. Don’t go overboard with it. I shake a tiny bit into the palm of my hand and then swirl the kabuki brush into my palm to pick up the powder. That way you don’t get that dust cloud of powder in the air, plus it prevents you from using too much of it.

When testing out this kit, I actually got compliments on my skin! The combination of all three products is something I’ve never tried before, and I think that’s what really made me fall in love with it this time. My makeup looked great all day, and lasted all day too. Yup, MAKE UP FOREVER, you rock.  You are definitely going into my yes pile for my Walking into Mordor Foundation Quest. Thanks for coming back into my life!

I’m sure you’ve heard by now, but MAKE UP FOREVER has launched its first-ever open casting call to find a “real woman” to star in their next HD Complexion advertisement, which will not be digitally retouched or enhanced in any way. It’s a continuation of the Untouched Ad Campaign where last year they featured the first ever untouched makeup ad.
The open casting call runs from January 2nd through February 1st, 2012. To enter, you just need to create a make up look and submit your photo www.hd.makeupforeverusa.com. All finalists’ photos will be featured in a photo album on the MAKEUPFOREVERUSA Facebook page.  The winners-yes WINNERS-one Canadian and one American- will be announced on Facebook on February 9th, 2012, and then flown to New York City for a professional photo shoot. The casting call is open to all women age 18 and over residing in the U.S. and Canada. The winning models will star in an advertisement that highlights MAKE UP FOR EVER’S new HD Complexion Starter Kit! Isn’t it amazing that they are also picking one Canadian woman too? I love it.

To help women find their perfect foundation match online, MAKE UP FOR EVER has also created an interactive Shade Finder tool that can be found at www.hd.makeupforeverusa.com/shadefinder. It really works too!

Have you tried these Makeup Forever Products? Are you going to enter the contest? Wouldn’t it be cool if somebody you knew was on the box of the MUFE HD Complexion Starter Kit?

Disclamer: I was sent this product to review by PR/Company. Love it or leave it, but my review and opinions are my own thoughts and words, thank you very much.

I think one of the most mysterious crazes in beauty lately has to do with BB Creams.

Mysterious because BB Creams are an Asian Beauty Product and they have not really been available here. BB stands for Beauty Balm, or Blemish Base, Blemish Balm and Beauty Base. A BB Cream is an all in one face product: Moisturizing skin care, tinted corrector and make-up base all in one.

Now for me, they are also mysterious because I have tried one or two and while I do like them, I really don’t see the difference between a BB Cream and a tinted moisturizer. I guess since there are some skin care ingredients in a BB Cream that you would see some long-term benefits to using them? The ones I have tried have been really dewey on my skin and stay a bit tacky feeling unless you put a powder over top. What I do like about BB Creams is that they usually have a high SPF in them. The best way I’ve found to use them (for myself at least) is to use them under my foundation as a base/primer.

Marcelle has created the first Canadian BB Cream($22.95) and it will be available in stores in February 6, but they are going to be available to order online at www.marcelle.com tomorrow. BUT they are available right now to order. But if you order tomorrow Marcelle is offering free shipping with orders over $25.

I am supposed to get a sample to try out and hopefully it arrives this week and I will share with you all what I think of it! Just from reading the press release about it, I kind of don’t understand why there is no SPF in the product and I find that a little disappointing. But I will reserve judgement until I test it out!

What do you guys think about the whole BB Cream trend?

I’ve been doing some thinking again. Which is a dangerous past time as you know, Lefou. 🙂

Probably one of my favourite Disney songs ever!

Why do some companies keep trying to make products they are just not good at? For example, if you are a Soap and Shower gel company and you do that really well, why do you think you can make lip gloss too? Or concealer? It always amazes me when I see it happen. And some of us (me!) fall for it, because we know they have a good reputation in what they usually do well, so you go in thinking-yeah! This should be great! AND IS IT EVER? Hardly not.

So Lefou? What do you think about such things?

These are Tracy’s Deep Thoughts, the thoughts that keep me up sometimes. I have a lot of them actually stored in my dusty belfries.

I needed to get this little rant off my chest. Now, I can start thinking about other things, like how to organize my spices better so that I can find the cumin without knocking everything over in the pantry. It needs to be done, because cumin closely resembles cinnamon, in case you’ve never noticed.

What are some of your deep thoughts?

Are you faithful to your hair products?

Or are you like me, always thinking there’s something better out there that will give you Fabio Hair? Yes, I said Fabio hair. I like his hair, ok? Who wouldn’t want his hair?

wikia.com

Stop staring at his chest. We’re talking about hair, remember?? FOCUS PEOPLE.

Anyways, back to hair. When I was asked to try UNITE Hair products I said yes! Maybe this time I’ll be getting me some Fabio hair!

Everything in UNITE’s hair care collection is free of parabens, sulfates, gluten, DEA, and MEA, and is 100% vegan. I’ve been really eager to incorporate products like this into my beauty regime, as I’ve been noticing that I itch a lot less when I do. And I hate itching. And scratching. Unless I’m about to do the Bear Cha-Cha-Cha. 🙂

Wow, ok, I gotta focus too! Back to UNITE Hair care!

The first products I tried were the Unite Blonda Shampoo and Conditioner. These products are meant for… ahem, “blondes” like me..ie. you dye your hair blonde. Hey, I have no choice, ok? Seriously I am as grey as the cap on the bottles! Unite Blonda is a purple toner based product that is meant to keep your blonde hair vibrant and cool, enhance shine, and keep your hair from looking yellow.
It works really well I have to say! It helps keep my blonde hair not brassy- approved!

The next product I tried was Unite 7 Seconds Condition Leave In Detangler.
This stuff is seriously moisturizing! It locks in colour and detangles in just seven seconds and they aren’t kidding my friends. Now, my hair is short, so it works in about 2 seconds for me. Maybe even 1 second. I should count. But, counting is math and I’m retired from doing unnecessary math. 🙂
Unite 7 Seconds  protects your hair from thermal damage and from UV rays too. It’s really moisturizing, so don’t spray too much! You really only need 4 sprays MAX. And you know what else? It’s Eva Longoria’s favourite UNITE product. I like her hair almost as much as Fabio’s. 😉

The last product I got to try was the UNITE Tricky Spray Finishing Wax. Gotta love that name, right? Although, I would have called it Tricksy Spray, ala LOTR and Gollum. Small technicality, but I’ll let it go. I’ll just call it that myself when I use it if that’s ok with Unite.

If you have short hair like me then this stuff is a must. A MUST. It’s 50% wax and 50% hairspray and gives me hold, texture and shine. It separates my layers and makes it so much easier to sculpt and shape into the look I want to create-and you know what that is-MOHAWK!

Unite Hair Care has some pretty awesome products and I hope you take a look at them the next time you think you’d like to try something new! You can order UNITE here or find a salon that carries it here.

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you’ve had a good week and have something fun planned for the weekend! Me-I think I’m going to go see Beauty And The Beast 3D today! I am so excited!
