Last Blog Posts #1: Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum

Ok, so if you haven’t heard yet, I am quitting beauty blogging. It’s been a long time coming, but I’ve finally made the decision and you know what? I am SO HAPPY. It’s just time for me to go.

I have a month left on my server before the blog disappears, so I thought I’d just blog about stuff I’ve been wanting to talk about but have been too busy and not very motivated to. So, before I say Aloha to you all, welcome to: THE LAST BLOG POSTS. This, is gonna be FUN hahahahahahahahaha…….

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum:When You Wanna Keep that Hot Dog Smell With You All Day Long

Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum

It seems like pretty much everybody uses and loves Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum, but for the longest time it wasn’t sold here in Canada(it is now). Last year sometime, I picked it up in California and it sat in my skincare backup drawer because I really love my Hylamide C-25 Booster and wanted to use up my vial before cracking this expensive puppy open.

What do I like? The packaging. I like the airless pump. It’s great. That’s about it though. I really didn’t notice anything life changing about it, and it’s not any better than my cheaper love, the Hylamide C-25 Booster.

Other than the cool pump I can honestly and unequivocally say that I FREAKIN’ HATE THIS STUFF.

Now, usually I’m ok with scents in facial products. I know that most of the time they shouldn’t be there and that they can cause reactions for people, but hey sue me-I like a nice rose scent or violet scent when I apply my skincare. It doesn’t bother me. Usually.

But this stuff? STINKS. Like hot dogs. And the stink lasts for quite awhile too. I don’t care what people say about how good it is, I can’t stand walking around with my face smelling like a hot dog for hours and hours. Like WHY.

So now, I have this expensive meat sandwich stinking Vitamin C serum sitting in my drawer that I should use, but don’t wanna because I can’t stand the smell. Sigh. Third World Problems really suck, hey? 😉

Have you tried this? Do you notice the hot dog smell? Or am I just an always hungry freak?

  • I didn’t know this stunk like a hot dog! Now, is it a meat dog or one of those veggie type tofu dogs?

I hate to see you go!! I am tempted to leave too. Maybe, you quitting will push me over the edge like a lemming! I will miss you!

    • YUP! A meat one! It’s just so stinky. Even my hubby can’t believe it lol!
Awwww, thanks. I just can’t do it with any kind of motivation anymore. I’m tired of it all, and it’s just not worth the stress. My advice to you is that if you are still having fun, then keep going. That’s how I decided to finally quit.

I am going to miss your voice in the blogosphere!

I just caught up with your “5 things you will repurchase” post this morning. I was putting off buying foundation because it was going to involve a trip to Sephora or a department store to test colors but I have been reading so much about how good drugstore foundations are these days that when I found myself in Target yesterday, I picked up some L’Oreal True Match Lumi. I guess I was channeling you. So far it is as good as the YSL I was thinking of replacing and the cost difference will cover the cost of the Clarisonic foundation brush I just bought.

    • Awww, thanks Lesley! I appreciate that so much!
YAY!! Hahaha channeling me in Target lol I love it-I just spent the last month in California, and I think I was at Target every other day and never got tired of looking around! And right? It’s SO GOOD for drugstore foundation. It’s a bit more expensive, but pffft, still way cheaper than others and works so well. I’m glad you love it too! I’ll try and share more things like that this last month before I ride off into the sunset haha!

OMG, like a hot dog??? Gag me. Once again thank you for your honesty. I hadn’t heard of this brand but will avoid it like the plague. I will however seek out your Hylamide C-25 Booster. You have steered me towards a couple of my fave products, one being the PacificAmore Enzyme Peel which has done wonders for my skin.

Although I was late to this party, I will miss you. I have spent a lot of time reading your old blog posts, including a cookie recipe I just saved. lol. Enjoy the next journey of your life, I’m sure it will be amazing!!!

    • Like a fricken hot dog! And NOBODY ever mentioned it before. I’m so glad I’ve been able to help you out! I’ll still be around on Twitter and IG, so catch me there. I’ll probably share some things on there for sure. And there’s still a month left here until this all disappears. I thought about keeping it around, but it just costs me too much money. My next phase is going to be SO MUCH MORE RELAXING and as stress free as I can make it, which means NO PR hahahaha!

  • I love your honest reviews
I am going to miss your writing 🙁
There has been so many items i have tried, tossed and bought because of you.

    Thanks and best wishes.

    • Awwww, thanks Sara! I really appreciate your support all these years. It’s just time to go, and I just can’t keep it up anymore. Still have one more month of fun though!

  • Lily

Ah Tracy, blogging is definitely not supposed to be stressful, so I’m sure you’ve made the right choice, even though we’re all going to miss you.
And about this hotdog serum… I haven’t heard of it before. I guess I know I won’t be missing out. You just reminded me that I really need to repurchase the C25 booster!

    • Hahaha, thanks for that! I’ll still be around on IG and maybe Twitter. Might get rid of that too, not sure yet. I just bought another bottle the other day I love that stuff!

  • Gonna miss you, Tracy! Thanks for sticking it out for this long. It’s been a great (and rant-y) ride. 😉

  • Eva

I’m gonna miss you honesty and your rants and updates about Marky but ya gotta do what’s best for you.

  • rachlovespenguins

    Ewwwwwwww, hot dog face.
There is real and true shuddering going on here right now. Thank you for the warning.
And I will miss you. Who else can I be snarky with?!? <3

    • HahahaHAHAHAHAHAHA man you made me laugh so hard! Thanks!
Be snarky with me on IG or Twitter!

  • Enjoy your freedom! I’ll miss you though <3

  • Ugh I hate the Vitamin C burnt-hot-dog smell! I have only found ONE Vitamin C serum that smells good. The brand is Lira and it’s their Bio Hydra C Serum. I got it through a friend of mine who is an aesthetician, and it has this lovely, thin, lotion-y consistency, and it smells like oranges. 🙂 (I wonder, though, if it’s as effective as the smelly ones? Kind of like the “beauty-is-pain” theory….maybe “beauty-is-stinky,” too? lolol ) And I will MISS YOU! Please let us see you on Instagram still… 🙂

    • I have no idea why some stink and some don’t, but this one is def the worst one I’ve ever met that’s for sure!
And thanks haha, and yes of course I’ll still be on IG for sure!

  • Toya

Is it wrong of me to be excited for you quitting blogging??? I could feel the blog fatigue and as much as I love reading your posts I feel happy for you that you’re in the right place to let it go. And truth be told I mostly follow your comings and goings via Instagram now anyway so I’ll still know what’s up 😀

I tried this a couple years ago and I didn’t mind the formula or the smell (surprisingly) – I think it’s probably due to ferulic acid which is usually the cause of that kind of smell – but I HATED the packaging because it leaked everywhere, all the time! And I didn’t even travel with it! So for me that a huge fail because I kept feeling like so much expensive product was wasted. And since then I’ve had two bottles of the C25 Booster and for me it’s just as good and a heck of a lot cheaper. PREACH sista!

    • LOL no of course not haha! I think everyone could tell it was coming-I didn’t exactly hide it well!
So that’s the cause of the stink, hey? I can’t stand it man. If it disappeared I’d be ok with it, but it doesn’t on me. And right? SO much cheaper, and it’s so good!

Dear Tracy, I’ll miss you, hopefully there’s still Instagram and Facebook! Stay safe xo
