Five Products I Use Every Day and Have/Will Repurchase

These five products are things I use every day, and most of them I have repurchased. If I haven’t yet, I plan on repurchasing because I love them that much and can’t imagine being without them!

One is drugstore foundation, which is a total shocker. I haven’t loved a drugstore foundation EVER. Like not since 1982, when that’s all I could afford!

L’Oreal Lumi Cushion Foundation in W2

God, I love this stuff. It’s amazing if you have dry skin and dry patches and it has pretty decent coverage too. It never fails me, no matter how dry my skin is.

W2 is a little dark on my inner arm there, but it’s pretty perfect for my face.  It covers my redness really well. I usually go for a warmer foundation shade to help cancel the redness in my cheeks, and this does a great job.

It goes on smoothly and blends effortlessly, still looking like real skin, just better. LOVE. I don’t use the sponge though-I dip a flat-top brush and use that to apply it and blend into my skin. It’s the best drugstore foundation for me! Best foundation PERIOD right now tbh. And I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I will be getting another one once this one is empty! ME. Hooked on a drugstore foundation. Who’d have thunk?!!

Hourglass Ambient Powder in Diffused Light.jpg

Every day I set my face with Hourglass Ambient Powder in Diffused Light. PAN!! I’ve hit pan! I haven’t hit pan in a makeup item in years now! It’s the perfect setting powder for me, and I will repurchase it soon. I’m already itching to get a new one haha-anyone else feel the urge to get a new product replacement when you see pan? Or do you wait until the bitter end like Lily does HAHAHA!

More Hourglass, this time the Ambient Light Blush Palette. I love it. It’s just the best blush formula for me, giving a bit of glow that my aging skin needs, and it lasts all day too. And all three colours work on me, and I even like just brushing through them all at once and apply. Happy cheeks is the result!

The Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Curling & Lifting Mascara is my third tube now.

I love the plastic, curved wand. It fits my upper lash line perfectly, and it curls my eyelashes straight up. On my upper lash line it stays put all day, but on my bottom it’ll smudge, so I don’t bother with mascara on my bottom lashes lately. I don’t need it most days anyways.

Marc Jacobs Beauty Fineliner Ultra-Skinny Gel Eye Crayon Eyeliner I use every day to line my upper waterline. It stays put all day, and never fails me. I love it, and will repurchase it for sure, although I am curious about his new matte gel liners.

Hourglass GIRL Lip Stylo in Dreamer.jpg

I am wearing everything I’ve talked about on my face in that pic, and that’s pretty much ALL I’ve been wearing for the past few months. I just change the lips is all. And the one I’m wearing is the new Hourglass GIRL Lip Stylo in Dreamer.

Love the texture! So creamy!

And pretty pigmented too for something that’s glossy. It’s so easy to apply, and lasts well too. My lips feel so good when wearing Hourglass GIRL Lip Stylo in Dreamer, that it’s been hard to not buy another shade. I have so many lipsticks, it’d be silly to get another one, right? RIGHT? Sigh…always a lipstick addict…always.

What products do you use every day? Have you repurchased them as well?

  • Amelia

I love the Lumi cushion foundation too!

  • I love this! What’s your favorite brush for the setting powder? I’ve been interested in the Lip Stylo so it’s nice to know they are worth it!

    • Thanks my friend! I use an IT Cosmetics Brush-I got it at Ulta, it’s a powder brush and has a black handle on it. Sorry, I don’t know what they’re called with the black handle, but it’s so soft! And yes, I think it’s worth getting one in a shade you’ll use all the time. That’s how I think when buying an expensive hippie-get one in a shade I’ll use lots that way I get money’s worth!

  • I love your look with your products, simple but so perfect and polished. Hourglass isn’t available here otherwise I bet I’d be using that powder and those blushes everyday too. xx

  • Lesley Goldberg

Do you use the setting powder to set undereye concealer? Do you have fine lines under your eyes? If so, can I assume the powder doesn’t settle into them? I have avoided powder for years because of the settling but I understand that the formulas are better now.

    • Yes I do use it to set under my eyes. I do have some fine lines, but it doesn’t settle into them. I just use a light dusting and it’s good to go!

  • Ooh now that L’Oreal cushion foundation is on my radar! How do you find the longevity?

I love that Marc Jacobs liner too! I got a couple minis with my Sephora BI points and then bought a full size.

    • It’s not bad-but I don’t need anything long lasting these days since I don’t work. So for me, 6 hours is dang good haha! Same! I got a mini and bought the full size too!

  • Lily

LOL thanks for the link and yes, I need to use up every little bit of powder! I don’t know why but I just can’t leave the corners go unpanned >_< Hourglass is so overpriced here, it's not funny. And honestly, while I wasn't wowed by their Ambient powder, Diffused Light was easy to use. I'm now trying to use up my Lancome powder, which is one of my favourites. It's the Le Blanc powder, which is made in Japan, so I can find the perfect shade match which is just awesome (and I'm not a huge fan of Lancome makeup to begin with!).

I have to fight the urge to repurchase the second I see pan. That being said, I bought a backup MUFE HD pressed powder when just the threat of seeing pan loomed. What can I say, I am weak and I wanted to grab it during the last fall VIB sale. I love that stuff. The only-partially-justified backup will be my….fourth or fifth purchase, can’t remember. I mostly use it to set under my eyes and some on my nose, and continue with using other stuff from the stash to set the rest of my face. I’m not sure how that “use the extras” thing is gonna work out now though since in a separate moment of weakness I decided to try the newer Laura Mercier candlelight powder…. That brick seems so dense that I could set my whole face with it every day for a couple of years and not be done with it!

I will try that lumi cushion now. I love the Amore Pacific one, but it’s expensive, and mostly I just want something portable to keep in my bag and slap on if I need a quick edit before heading somewhere straight from work. Drugstore doesn’t usually impress me much, but if it’s passed the Tracy test then I’ll give it a try. Thank you for being the guinea pig here. I looked at it on the shelf but just couldn’t bring myself to buy it…. Lol
I bought some new Essie polish instead. 😛

Hi Rachel! I’m not Tracy and I know you buy the pressed version but if you like MUFE HD loose powder, you can buy the one from CityColor, same ingredient but I think it’s a fraction of the price.

I can’t use it everyday because silica dries my skin like crazy but for photos is pretty good.

      • rachlovespenguins

Thanks for the info! My skin dries out with the weirdest stuff, but silica doesn’t do that unless I use waaaay too much. I wish more brands would do pressed versions, as I stopped counting how many times I’ve dumped a sifter pot of loose powder/pigment/etc all over my vanity or (even worse) into the drawer…. Sigh. The oh so messy perils of being klutzy…. Lol

  • Efrain

I wanted to comment in the Charlotte Tillbury’s post but it seems like you closed the thread, well no probs. I’m so happy that you returned to blog and you did it with wine which makes everything better (somehow I think it would be easier to send you a wine bottle rather than the handicraft that is sitting in my room for a year).

I really want to try L’Oréal Lumi cushion but it isn’t sold in Mexico, and when a friend bought it for me in the States, she couldn’t give it to me because one of her roommates started to using it without permission. However if you say it works wonders on your dry skin maybe it’ll slip from my T-zone.

Right now the products I use the most are L’Oréal Brow Artist kit and Revlon Brow Fantasy gel, I really like a strong brow, nothing too Instagram because is strong yet natural. Also I’m loving NYX HD blush in Electro, which I need to apply with the lightest hand but the color looks gorgeous on me.

  • Love, love, love the Hourglass Ambient Powders. It was an impulse purchase in Portland at the height of Ambient Powder hype and I don’t regret it a bit!

I am probably on my ~8th jar of LUSH Celestial. For some reason my eczema really loves this stuff and behaves!
