College Road Trip #2-Salt Lake City, California, Seattle! It’s been a long, long road…

Cover your ears, because I’m tired of being PG.  😛

Me right now: TIRED. AS. FUCK. #TheTragicallyHip

If you don’t follow me on Instagram or SnappyChat…and hello WHY NOT…DO IT HEY…and to be honest I love Snap Chat MORE than Instagram…So, AHEM….you’d know that I’ve been BUSY. Lot’s of BUSY. We had to move Marky to an apartment for her third year of college in California. Let’s just say the house she lived in last year with 5 girls? FOUR OF THEM MOVED OUT. #crazyroomate And because me and Terry are nuts and like road trippin’, we decided to drive her back to California. And heck it was fun! And worth it! I think haha…although my brain is having trouble realizing I’m home finally because the first morning home I woke up to go pee at 6 am and thought: Where’s the stupid bathroom? And MY GOD, what a SHITTY HOTEL ROOM this is…  😀 😀 After all the cool hotel rooms I’ve been in I think I need to redecorate around here!

Ok, wanna see some pics? You got it! Comin’ up!

Montana was our first drive through:

 photo IMG_1102.jpg

That’s about all I have to say about Montana. WIDE. OPEN. SKIES. OH, and the speed limit is almost non-existent there…85 miles an hour which is DRIVE AS FAST AS YOU CAN in kilometres. #truth

Utah

Of course the first place we go to the night we hit Utah is a liquor store LOL. MAN, what a line-up! Never seen so many people wanting booze before. But we got a 50 cent piece as change! Cool!

SO, in the middle of downtown Salt Lake City is a HUMONGOUS square dedicated to all things historically Mormon. It’s…something.

 photo IMG_1114.jpg

Big main temple. Fucking HUGE.

 photo IMG_1116.jpg

Another church. I don’t know what it is man. But it looks POINTY. #howmanypointytowerscanwestickonthischurch #DeadliestChurchEverBuilt

 photo IMG_1121.jpg

Were the Osmands part of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir?

The massive pipe organ where the Mormon Tabernacle Choir sings, which is another church in the square. True story: they started a demo of the amazing acoustics there, and one girl started tearing a piece of paper in half. I turned to Terry and said: What is happening here…Is she doing a magic trick? 😀 😀  You can’t take me anywhere nice I tell ya’ 😀 😀 Oh, and plus there was a library, and numerous other huge buildings. Never seen so much downtown real estate taken up with church crap in my life. Oh, and STATUES….of Jesus…and the mormon dudes…and the moment Jesus told those sick dudes: HEY, You can have MANY WIVES…all the wives… and this all happened during the WILD WILD WEST of the USA too….like get BENT how can you believe this stuff?!!! #sorryifyouareMormon #waitmaybeNO #sorryNotSorry

But, to be honest we really liked Salt Lake City! It’s a pretty city, with loads to do. And there’s loads of hiking around there, and you know I love hiking. So, I think we’ll probably go back and spend more than 2 days there next time. Maybe even next summer.

Next stop was the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah which has been something I’ve wanted to see FOREVER. Pretty much ever since the movie Warlock came out and they buried that Witchcraft Bible book in there LOL!

SO WHITE. And HOT.

 photo IMG_1136.jpg

Marky made a saltball!

Salty!

Next stop, Santa Rosa, California where Charles Schultz lived and drew my fave comic of all time.

 photo IMG_1224.jpg

I almost cried walking up to the museum. Almost.

So much Snoopy!! LOVE.

I didn’t know this one tidbit:

 photo IMG_1189.jpg

I want this window in my living room!

 photo IMG_1213.jpg

I could show you SO MANY MORE PICS of Snoopy and The Peanuts Gang, but I’ll spare you haha. If you are a fan, I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area!

San Francisco:

 photo SAM_4058.jpg

It’s just one of my fave cities ever.

 photo SAM_4053.jpg

Haight and Ashbury is always a fun place! So many cool people with hair cooler than mine LOL! I tell ya, it was a huge love fest walking down the street with people telling us they loved our hair and with us telling them we loved THEIR hair LOL!

 photo IMG_1253.jpg

Japan Town…you have to eat there. You just have to.

 photo IMG_1232.jpg

We also stopped by the Walt Disney Family Museum in the Presidio and they had a Pinocchio Exhibit. To be honest, one of my LEAST fave Disney movies, but you gotta appreciate the art work. No pics were allowed so SHHHHHHHhhhhhhhhh don’t tell anybody I took this pic of the cossack puppet…I’m a descendant of Kozaks, so it’s my right….Right? HAHAHA!

 photo IMG_1260.jpg

Next stop was moving Marky’s stuff into her new apartment. Putting her bed back together. Shopping for more things she needed. Ikea in Burbank? IS HELL ON EARTH. So much work. And I hate Ikea Burbank. #worstIkeaEver

But all that work was rewarded with a trip to Disneyland of course!

 photo IMG_1285.jpg

That’s the old front entrance sign which is now a decoration at the Disneyland Hotel Pool HAHA

And a trip to the Santa Monica Pier!

 photo IMG_1310.jpg

LOADS of tourists here my god

And then it was time to say goodbye to Marky. It was HARDER this time you guys I don’t know…last year it wasn’t so bad. But this year? UGGGH. I don’t know, as she gets older she gets more sentimental herself I think? So she cries…and then then I cry…and yeah…sob scene. And we left the apartment. And then texted her to come for lunch LOL. And then we had to say goodbye AGAIN. I’m a glutton for punishment, what can I say. I just had a hard time leaving her this time.

Drive back home was nice though. We stopped in Seattle which is another one of my fave cities.

Seattle Pike’s Place Market AKA EAT ALL THE FOODS

 photo IMG_1517.jpg

Then, home. And you realize she’s really not that far when it only takes 3 days to drive back home to those amazing Alberta sunsets. But I still miss her.

 photo IMG_1575.jpg

What did I buy on the 3 weeks away? Not much to be honest?!! More food things and snacks since we were driving and could take stuff like that home easily. Arrowhead makes this sparking water that’s watermelon flavoured and I LOVE IT and of course it’s not sold here. So I brought a few over the border.  😀  But these oils are one of my fave beauty buys ever!

Shea Moisture Pure Oils

Shea Moisture.jpg

Shea Moisture

They’re little bottles of pure oils by Shea Moisture and you can get them at Target(I MISS YOU TARGET) and WOW SO GOOD. Just a few drops added to my hair conditioner, hair masque, body lotion, DRY hair even- and instant fix! LOVE them all Shea Moisture! And only $9.99 each! I do hate the pumps though as they don’t work well, and be forewarned that the Monoi one will solidify if it’s cold in your house when you get back from a 3 week road trip. #yayforcold

And that’s why I haven’t been around for the last…OMG it’s been 4 weeks hasn’t it???!!!

It has. OOPS. Yeah, well I ain’t apologizing to any PR for anything. I’m back! And I’ll get to posting about stuff again I promise as I am rejuvenated and ready to blog…maybe… 😛

I’ve missed everyone! I hope you are all still there HAHAHA! And still around to talk to!

  • Elisa Aisenstat

By the way, your skin looks awesome!

    • Thanks so much! I was only wearing sunscreen that day as it was a 9 hour drive to Sacramento-who needs foundation when’re you’re in a car all day!

  • Lily

That pointy church? The safest place to be if something’s falling from the sky. It would die before it hits the ground. LOL LOL! I’m curious though. Did your skin behave after your road trip? My skin always goes kinda nuts after I travel. It’s so annoying >_<

    • AHAHAHA! Truth! Usually my skin goes nuts DURING travel and it was red from all the sun and heat on most days. I pretty much wore only sunscreen most days. But me and Marky masked every day or so, and I think that made a HUGE difference. My skin is drier now that I’m home that’s for sure.

  • I love that snoopy stained glass window! Your whole trip looks amazing, so many places I’d love to visit. it must be weird to be back home.

  • Elizabeth V

What a fabulous road trip. And great photos too. We just did San Francisco this year. (first time) Drove the west coast. Stunning isn’t it?

ps. Can I say I love you? Just tried the AmorePacific Enzyme Peel Treatment that I ordered from Sephora after reading your review. LOVING the results. I think a little bump on my nose is finally disappearing. Really! And my sun spots look a little fainter. And I use a 10X mirror to check results. lol. So first you gave me the Crest HD toothpaste and now this? Thank you, thank you , thank you. This 61 year old mama is loving you, but don’t worry I’m not crazy. 😉

    • Thanks! I LOVE it there. Love the weather! It’s the only place in California I could stand to live since it doesn’t get ungodly hot there. Wish it was cheaper though!
And YAY!!! I’m so happy you love it too! And hahaha, you are so adorable lol! Nothing makes me happier than someone telling me I helped them out! That’s why I do this! xx

      • Elizabeth V

That bump on my nose was driving me crazy. Went and had it checked out and doc said it was nothing. But wouldn’t remove it. This wash seems to be diminishing it and its only been a couple of weeks. Next to try is the Avene eye balm. So yes, you do make a difference. And I love your honesty in your reviews.

      • I had a bump like that on my cheek! It took a few months to get rid of it, so keep using it. Awww, thank you so much! That means the WORLD to me. xoxo

  • Your road trip looks amazing! The Bonneville Salt Flats is on my wish list for a long time! And so happy you visited Santa Rosa, it’s like my second home.

    • Thanks Michelle! You need to go see the Salt Flats they’re something else boy.
And I loved Santa Rosa! It’s a great place to live!
