Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette #536 Escapade Dior Summer 2016

Hey HOW YOU DOIN’?

I know, I’m a bad blogger. PFFT. I don’t pretend that this is my full time job so… if you are still around reading this then YAY… thanks man. To be honest I really don’t care anymore and this is the last dang time I apologize for not posting often enough…Either you like me, or you don’t, so…HA. DEAL DUDES.

Anyways…Dior Summer 2016 unexpectedly showed up on my doorstep one morning. Yeah, usually I have to email the PR and ask heyyyyyy……remember me?!! I used to do that. Not anymore, because I don’t give a rat’s ass now and won’t beg for crap to show up here. Especially Dior, because I’m not a huge Dior Fangirl as you know.  So, I was pleasantly surprised that I wasn’t forgotten this time…although let’s see what happens down the road hey? 😛 I tend to tick off a lot of PR because I don’t blog for any brand and their free stuff..I blog because well…I like chatting with you all.

So today I’m going to tell you my thoughts about Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette #536 Escapade. Because it’s the one that most people seemed to gasp at when I showed it on Instagram? And I don’t know why, because honestly the colours aren’t that amazing or unique? It kind of surprised me to be honest.

Swatchy Time!

They’re typical Dior shadows…slightly powdery and dry, but blend nicely. Not a lot of pigment either. Like I said, typical Dior. Click to enlarge the images below to get a better look.

I mean I like the palette? But it takes A LOT OF WORK to get these looks I created-especially the more pastel one I created. The brown one wasn’t hard at all, but that’s just not a very unique look at all now, is it? Unless you are totally new to this makeup game, I’m sure you all have a nice golden warm brown eyeshadow in your collection by now. And the peach shade is rather paltry in this palette… I’d much rather use MAC Paradisco for a bazinga! peach shade on my lids. That one doesn’t take TONS of layering to show up like the one in Dior 5 Couleurs Polka Dots Eyeshadow Palette #536 Escapade did.

Again Dior, you just kind of fall in that I ALMOST LIKE IT ENOUGH TO BUY IT category….but just not quite there. I mean, this isn’t a cheap palette here in Canada, costing $72 which is LUDICROUS, so I’m not going to tell you that this is a MUST buy if it doesn’t WOW me…and this just didn’t do that. Sorry Dior. You can do better. I’m just waiting for that day…whether it comes soon is another question…I wait with bated breath. 😛

Summer collections are the ones that typically disappoint me…what about you? I just don’t get summer collections at all. I hardly buy any summer makeup as they just aren’t my style at all. You?

  • Even though it took a lot of work, the looks you did there are so pretty! But indeed that is too much money for a palette that takes a lot of work to show up…

  • Hmmm, doesn’t sound like it’s worth the money then. Pretty, sure, but I think there are better alternatives out there for less moolas.

  • Emma Bovary

I swatched this in store and it didn’t do anything for me – some of the Dior products get my heart racing, but I’m going to pass this collection and instead get one of their pressed powders to try out. Those round quilted compacts are darling!

    • Yeah, it’s just MEH. I haven’t tried the other one yet, but I think it’s prob the same. Their eyeshadows are just so…trying. And for the price lordy, I’d rather buy more MUFE ones!

  • Girl I for one will read any dang thing you post lol. I never got into summer stuff/collections because unless it’s gold, copper or bronzy it isn’t happening as I wash out easy. So rock on woman!

    • LOL thanks babe! Yeah, there’s only so much copper and bronze you can get before they all look the same!

  • Angela

Hey Tracy! Always a pleasure to hear from you 😉 This palette didn’t knock my socks off but the looks you ultimately got from them are lovely! I would not pay $72 for it, for sure. I did however, surprise my 7-YO yesterday by buying a $30 brow powder at Sephora. He looked at his $30 LEGO set and said something to the effect of, “Man, you got scammed!”
I am NOT looking forward to the summer. Did you see the forecast this week?? Yuck and yuck 😛 I miss spring already!

    • Yo babe! And thanks! Glad to hear someone still reads haha!
AND LOL your kid hahaha that’s hilarious! AND I KNOW IT’SWAY TOO SOON. I’m going to be hiding in my house with the AC full blast hahaha!

  • It doesn’t look like anything special at all and for a pricetag of $72.00, I can get the Naked Pallettes from urban decay for that price, which are much nicer and more colurs!

I am really into the Sephora brand right now. Their Overcast Filter pallette is really cute and the pigments are lovely!

    • Yeah it’s just not worth it!
Some of the Sephora stuff is getting really good I agree!

  • Liz

Oh my god, this post made me laugh so hard. Dior jacked up their prices big time this past year. It’s kind of revolting when the effort here seems half-hearted at best. Not impressed at all.

  • Lily

Yeah I agree. This palette is quite underwhelming. The powders though, they’re really good! I’ve been wearing Summer Glow A LOT and the Nude Glow powder in Fresh Rose is also beautiful.

  • The only thing I could think of when I saw this was that it LOOKS LIKE ICE CREAM. Otherwise, yep, underwhelming, like most of their eye stuff, no?
