Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duos

Are you a highlighter fiend? I am not. I have a few, but I find most of them too harsh, metallic and fake looking to use during the day. I’m not sure when it became ok to walk around with a huge stripe of obvious highlighter on cheekbones. You know how everyone cringes at the huge stripes of bold blush we wore in the 80s? Yeah, that’s gonna be the same cringe when people look back at the highlighter high beam streak phase going on right now. 😛

Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duos are a more gentle, natural looking highlighter-although you can build them up to look more…obvious…if that’s what you like.

Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duos

There are two shades of Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duos($38)-Rosy Glow and Warm Glow.

Remember Too Faced’s original Candlelight powder? Well these two highlighters are the newest incarnation of that powder and I think they’re really nice! Apparently they have photolite technology to diffuse harsh light and give your skin that glow that candlelight gives.

Swatchy Time!

Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duos Rosy Glow, Warm Glow

Too Faced Candlelight Glow Highlighting Powder Duo in Rosy Glow is supposed to brighten and illuminate, while Warm Glow will warm up the complexion. I like using the lighter shades on top of my cheekbones, and then the pink or the peach shade a bit over my blush-not too much otherwise WOWZA  you’ll be shiny like C3PO! See that peachy swatch? That’s a heavier swatch I did on purpose so you could see the intensity you can get out of these powders. But just a touch of the peach or rose on the apples of the cheeks will liven up your blush and complexion and make you look fresher and more youthful. And like I said, a LIGHT TOUCH. No highlighter high beam striping allowed, especially if you are over the age of 40. Please.

Do you wear highlighter every day? I didn’t until more recently.

I don’t mind a big whack of highlighter truth be told, but I don’t think I apply it anywhere near as heavy as some people on Instagram tend to do – they can look very scary when that happens, but to each their own! For some reason I’ve never been into these powders from Too Faced, I’m not sure why as I like the new blushes they released and I have a bunch of their shadow palettes, too

    • Yeah that’s what I mean! That scary Instagram look! And yes, people ignore their highlighters I agree! These would go great with the blushes for sure!

  • I quite like highlighter. I’ve always thought I used a light hand…but a few times I’ve turned and thought I might have overdone it (more than likely). I only have a Colourpop cream highlighter right now, but was thinking I might try a powder soon. Maybe I’ll try one of these…

    • It’s a fine line before it can be too much, right? That’s my problem with a lot of them. I’ve never tried the Colourpop ones but I think I’ve seen swatches and they are more intense. I’ve finally found one I love and it’s a cream too-I think creams do look more natural!

  • These are beautiful! I remember I wasn’t a fan of the originals because they had tiny flecks of glitter in them. And I avoid glitter like the plague especially on the face. The only highlights I use are Lorac’s Radiant (powder) or Becca’s Moonstone (liquid) These may have to go on my wish list for April when the sale hits. Great review!

    • Yeah no glitter at all in these! I have an old Lorac one I still love-Spotlight? I love that one a lot. I have a Burberry Glow liquid I love as well, and the RMS one I just got. Those are my faves! And thanks Tracy! xx

      • Ohhh the RMS highlight has been on my radar forever. I may need to check that one out as well. Yes, Radiant is slightly more golden toned than Spotlight. I wish these were more readily available.

  • They look really pretty! I don’t highlight much though. I’m a walking highlight, with my shiny oily skin…

    • LOL hahaha yeah, see good for you not putting on more! Smart girl, that’s why I like you. 🙂

I look better with a little bit of highlighter at the outer corners of my eyes and at the outer corners of my mouth. It does give a bit of a lift. But I am too lazy to do that everyday. I have never bought any because it often is included in bonus kits I get from Sephora like ones from Benefit and Laura Mercier. So long as they are not too shimmery they look okay despite my large pores and lines.

    • Oh, yes-that’s a good place to put it! And that’s the key-not too shimmery and they won’t emphasize texture issues.

  • I wasn’t much of a highlighter gal until last year when I got the Rosy Glow!!! I LOVE it and wear it with Josie Maran’s highlighter stick. Now I wear it EVERY SINGLE FREAKING DAY.

    • Oooh! DOUBLE highlight! I tried that Josie Maran stick and liked it! I think I had a sample from something!

  • I pretty much never wear highlighter unless I’m going for a big night out. I don’t get the whole glowing like a beacon trend and I cannot stand the phrase ‘highlight on flee’. #grumpyoldcow

    • SAME, until I just discovered one I can use in the day that looks so natural! And I’m also a #grumpyoldcow hahahaha!

  • Oh my goodness, who knew these were so gorgeous? I love just a little bit of highlighter. Not the C3PO look haha!

OMG! 80’s blush….remember those days, Lil Sis? I can’t even look at some old photos – that’s how strong the cringe-factor is, lol! These look really pretty…and wearable!

    • OH YEAH I DO, and to be honest I think it’s coming BACK! I’ve seen it around Instagram and I SHUDDER!

  • Nope, too lazy to add an extra step to my routine LOL. I agree about the current highlighting trends though–no disco ball highlighting for me, thanks.

  • haha you’re so right about how we’ll look back at highlighting in 10 years ago W T F. I’m more into “lit from within” glows these days too. With every product containing “light reflecting spheres” now, you don’t need strong highlighters because by the time you get to this step, you’re already pretty glowy!

    • It’s SCARY MAN everyone on YT looks like a freakin’ robot WTF DUDES. Your highlight should be barely there, just pretty not WOW LOOK AT MY HIGHLIGHTER.

  • I promise I won’t be going high beam but damn I need one of these in my life! Just for a bit of youthful glow you know 😉

I finally went to Sephora today. Nothing too exciting since they didn’t bring all the brands. Kinda suck, really. Does it even matter if they carried all the brands in all their branches? Why do they have to pick and choose based on their own warped perception of the market, which, based on my observation, is very off?
Sorry for the rant. I did have a look at Too Faced, but didn’t see these! Maybe I need to take another look to be sure. Just to check it out 🙂
