The Diorific Matte Rouge Velvet Colour Lipstick($45) case is something else. Almost too much. Probably too much. I have no idea what Dior is going for in the design…but you go Dior. Do your thang. I guess these look like some previous holiday lipstick cases, of which I have not had the pleasure/shock to have seen before, so… if you love the look of these right off the bat? I’m a bit scared of you to be honest…. πŸ˜›

But hey…it’s the inside…the lipstick that counts, right? RIGHT.

These Diorific Matte Rouge Velvet Colour Lipsticks aren’t your old school matte lipsticks, nope, NOPE. But, seriously- who makes those anymore? I think pretty much every makeup brand in the universe and beyond has reformulated their matte lipstick formula into something they like to call aΒ matte…but it’s not completely matte. At least not when you first apply them. Diorific Matte Rouge Velvet Colour Lipsticks have a subtle something something to them…a bit of a glow? Yeah let’s say a glow. At first. After a bit of wear time, the finish does look more matte on the lips. It’s a bit sheerer, and way lighter feeling than other matte lipsticks I’ve tried, and I like that. And there’s apparently three oils to keep lips comfortable whilst wearing them. And I wish I kept the boxes to tell you what they are, but dang it…I threw those out as fast as you can say WHO NEEDS THE BOX. #badbeautyblogger

Here’s what they look like on my lips and face though!

Radieuse is a pretty, peachy nude. Anybody can wear this one I think!

Fantastique is a warm, hot pink that’s pretty wearable as far as hot pinks go!

And my fave, Fabuleuse which is a pink-based red that’s oh so fabulous Β  πŸ˜›

Diorific Matte Rouge Velvet Colour Lipsticks Dior Holiday 2015 State Of Gold are comfortable mattes, that wear beautifully without feeling drying at all. They can last a good 5 hours even with sipping water, which is impressive. Yeah, they be some expensive lipsticks, that’s for sure. But one of these is a well deserved Holiday Treat I say…you’ll use it and get loads of compliments every time you wear it. Oh, they do have that classic Dior Lipstick scent though….which I wish they’d drop already because who CARES Dior….move on with your lipstick scent…and I mean just drop it already. It’s not classy anymore, it’s just…old school.

I say pick up one! Especially if you love matte lipsticks. You’ll love the formula for sure. Find them on Dior counters in Canada by October 15th.

So many matte lipstick formulas this year…and good ones too! But so…expensive? Lipstick prices sure aren’t what they used to be. Β πŸ™

What’s YOUR favourite matte lipstick formula?

  • Wow, ALL of these are very pretty. I’m a sucker for mattes too!

  • Angela

Ooo those are all super pretty. I like the hot pink one the most (feeling a bit flashy, apparently) but I – hand to heart – do not need more lipstick. I DO NOT NEED MORE LIPSTICK. perhaps if I repeat it often enough, it’ll finally sink in because i have a drawer full of lipstick and I swear my heart skipped a beat after I saw these beauties in your pose. (Their names sound very similar to Chanel, non?) But if – heaven forbid – my house were to burn down while we’re all out of town, and I needed to restock my beauty supplies, I’d probably hit up the Dior counter for these. Does that read as ‘disturbing’, LOL?? Ugh, these allergies are kicking my rear right now πŸ™ And I’m jumping on a plane next Tuesday so all this congestion had better skedaddle, otherwise I’m going to be super Grumpy at Disney and I think that position is already occupied πŸ˜‰
Seriously: so excited! I’ll let you know how it goes when we return!!

    • HAHA!
OMG so excited to hear about your Disneyland trip! Email me and tell me EVERYTHING!

  • Oh yeah, the tube of the Diorific lipsticks… How ugly and old-fashioned does it look, right? If I’m not mistaken, they actually do come from the past: I think Diorific was Dior’s main lipstick line before they launched the Rouge Dior (years ago), and I’m baffled that they’re still keeping it alive.
Anyways, I think these semi-mattes look really good. I got one of the double-head lipsticks from last year’s holiday collection, and while the main color was really pretty, it was a pain to use.

    • Yup! They are from the early 2000s! Surprises me too! I guess they’re trying to appeal to the older chicks that remember them haha!
I didn’t get to try those last year, but these are NICE.

  • Love Radieuse and Fabuleuse on you!!! The undertones are so well done as far as nudes and reds go. πŸ™‚ I’m not too keen on the packaging of these though… it looks pretty bulky!

    • Thanks!!
They are really bulky and annoying. But, the formula is worth the annoyance!

  • I’m glad to know these aren’t super drying! I am putting the red one on my Christmas list!! πŸ™‚

  • Ooooooo πŸ™‚ Dior makes the best best best lipsticks! I love it. The shades scream HOLIDAY, but so elegant looking. You look great in them Tracy!! Wear ’em ALL!

  • These shades are so pretty and they all look amazing on you. I am sure it won’t come as a surprise that I’d pick Fantastique for myself. Who knows maybe it will be my Holiday treat to myself! (I really want the Guerlain Meteorites but an $80 piece of makeup is definitely not in my budget).

    • Thank you!
I want the meteorites too! But UGGH…will I use them enough to warrant the price is the question!

  • Jane

Packaging is a horror, but colors are nice, just maybe a touch too warm for me in winter. I love matte lipsticks and have plenty of them, none of them are drying on me (Burberry, Chanel, TF, By Terry), but I don’t wear them often to my surprise. I guess, matte lipsticks are too bold and scream fashion, I need to be a bit dressed up for them. I mean on me, if I wear a sweater and pair of jeans, matte lips look like I tried too hard with my lipstick. It can be my imagination, but I notice that people stare at my lips more often when I wear matte lipsticks, even if it is not too bright/dark. Maybe such finish is still a novelty to someone, I don’t know, we should bring matte lipsticks into masses πŸ™‚

    • Hahaha, you have to embrace the matte Jane! I love mattes. I find them less fussy looking, and more casual actually. I think it’s how we act when wearing them that makes people notice maybe?

  • Love the look of Radieuse! Yeah, the tubes are just a little bit over the top, lol. I’ve actually never tried any of the Dior lipsticks, but the reformulated Addicts are calling my name…

  • Fabuleuse looks amazing! I’m not sure about the bling packaging and how I’d feel whipping this one out of my handbag. As ever, you look hot Tracy!

  • Lily

All of them look amazing on you Tracy! I need to try these when they’re out. Mid October seems terribly early for Holiday collection though.

    • Lol thanks!
And I agree! It’s WAY too early. They’ll be doing spring in January when we’re 10 feet under snow!

  • On you all of ’em look great! For me I’d probably pick Radieuse.

  • Fantastique! So pretty!
I love the extravagant Diorific cases. It is good to know the formula is now comfortable to wear because the one I had 10 years ago was terribly drying and it wasn’t even a matte. LOL

  • Fabuleuse is one stunning red! I actually do like the OTT packaging – it’d be just the thang to pull out of my purse at a fancy event…maybe I need to get myself invited somewhere fancy so I can consider one of these! Hehe!

  • Ooh, Fabuleuse is stunning on you, Tracy! Love the retro-style packaging of these and the fuchsia shade is calling my name πŸ™‚

  • Good god they’re gorgeous – Fabuleuse is amazing on you! Also I admit to loving the packaging right off the bat πŸ™‚

  • I think the packaging is atrocious, to be honest — BUT Fabuleuse looks sooooo good!

  • Hahaha thanks! Yeah, there was no way to avoid it! They’re so shiny!

  • Me too!

  • Lisa Kolbasa

Fantastique looks the best on you… Thank you, very informative!

  • Lisa Kolbasa

You know, it also helps that you are beautiful and very photogenic. And yes, matte lipsticks rule! Hate all this glossy stuff. Matte, matte, yesss!
