Dior Holiday 2015 State Of Gold: Eyes! Eternal Gold, Blazing Gold, and Blazing. It’s All About Gold, If You Can’t Tell

Let’s talk about all the eye stuffs in the Dior Holiday 2015 State Of Gold Collection. One post-boom-bazinga-done. Fast and furiously gold, although not as gold as I thought it was going to be. Which for me is a YAY, because I’m not a fan of gold on my eyes, especially the more yellow golds.

This one is a stunner, that’s for sure! Look at that red! And I love a good red eyeshadow, and this one is NICE you guys.

The shadows all feel soft when swatched, are nicely pigmented, and blend beautifully on the eye.

I had no problem, other than significant fallout when applying them, so best to put your foundation on AFTER. The pink and the gold shade are more matte, and don’t have a ton of colour payoff, although the pink is surprising. You can definitely see the pink when you apply it-like a wash of pink. It’s quite pretty, and different, since most pinks are usually sparkly. And that glittery black shade I applied wet which worked quite well! It made the sparkles stay put much better. I like this palette.  😀

Dior Holiday 2015 5 Couleurs State Of Gold Eyeshadow Palette #576 Eternal Gold is a cooler toned palette, so I personally prefer this one.

The shades are a bit more boring compared to that red shade, but easier to wear, and just looks better on me I think. With this palette, you can wear whatever pretty lipstick shade you want, so for me, I’d get more wear from this palette for sure. It all depends on what you want to showcase for holiday parties-eyes, or lips. This palette is better if you’re a lip gal like me.  😛

Most of these shades worked quite well again, but since these shades are a bit lighter, be careful to not overblend them.

In this next picture I’m wearing that plummy taupe on my eye, but I also used the Dior Fusion Mono Eyeshadow($36) in Blazing on the centre of my lid.

Wow! I didn’t think I was going to love this as much as I do! It’s great to add a bit of god sparkle on top of your eyeshadows. It stays put too.

Finally thoughts? I’m much more impressed with the Dior Holiday 2015 State Of Gold Eye products this time around. The shadows are really easy to work with, and blend nicely. The shades are pretty as well! But, are they worth $70 CDN? Well, again that’s up to you. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again-I think Dior Eye Palettes have gorgeous colour combinations. Their shadow formula for me, is not one of my favourites-although this time around they perform a lot better, so that’s a good thing. If you love Dior, you will love these. Personally? I say get the Fusion Mono Eyeshadow in Blazing and be done with any ‘holiday’ eye products. All you need is a bit of gold sparkle and any eyeshadow you have will look ‘holiday’. Save your money for a really pretty holiday lipstick, which Dior has for sure! I’ll show them soon, but spoiler alert-it’s real love for me!  😉

The Dior Holiday 2015 State Of Gold collection will be available on counters October 15 in Canada.

What do you think? This is the first ‘Holiday’ collection I’ve seen so far. They’re ALWAYS GOLD. Sigh. When is someone going to do an awesome Navy and Silver Holiday Collection? WHEN.

Do you love holiday makeup collections? Or are you like me, and think they’re just all the same and all too gold?

  • Although I love the way both of these palettes look as well as the mono, I agree with you. The gold madness needs to stop. Give me gold and bronze in summer. Give me deep emeralds and navy and maroon. Just something different!

  • Lily

Oh that palette with that red. Gorgeous! We’re not getting these until later so I haven’t seen them yet but can’t wait especially for those lipsticks I see on your instagram feed!
And yeah, gold everywhere, every year. Boring.

  • Lesley Goldberg

I know even eye shadow is supposed to have a shelf life but I still use a Chanel holiday palette from 1987. I can’t see buying a new one every year.

  • Toya

These are all nice but I’m not wowed enough to run out and buy any of it really! If a brand came out with a really fabulous emerald green for holiday, well then I’d snap it right up 🙂

  • yea the eye palettes this time are REALLY GOOD. i like both of them for sure. they’re much more pigmented and smooth than before but still a little fall out i think. but still, a good improvement.

  • A navy holiday collection would be amazing but I really love the shades in the red palette.

I have Dior Monofusion in Mirror from last year and I have never thought of putting it on top of my eyeshadows. I always use it as a base (and I love it). Looking forward to seeing the lipsticks!

  • I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone else carry off red eyeshadow quite like you! So beautiful Tracy!

  • Good to know the Holiday palettes are better quality this year! I got one last year and I was NOT happy with the super dry, dusty texture…
I’m with you on the Gold indigestion. Can we get something new please? I say black and platinum, lol!

  • Blazing Gold looks GOOD! I love that brick red! <3 And the quality does seem better indeed. The swatches look softer. Smoother.

    • SO much better than last year! I love reds too. So versatile! People get scared of them for some reason.

  • Ooh, the shades in the first palette are totally made for you, Tracy! That red shade is extra pretty and I love the effect of the darker shade applied wet. So pretty! 🙂

  • Ha ha! Your last line reminded me of that scene in the Devil Wears Prada where she says, “Florals? For Spring? Groundbreaking.” LOL! Gold for holiday – CARAZY! Love the eye looks you did as always. That red is a BEAUT! I love red shadows, too. <3

  • I wish I could wear red on my eyes and get away with it! You wear it so well Tracy 🙂

  • OMG I have no idea how to wear red eyeshadow on myself, but it looks amazing on you, so sophisticated and really makes your eyes pop! xx

  • Thanks! xx These are better than last years!

  • Thanks! Yeah, there’s fallout for sure, but at least they’re better this time around!
