Yeah, I know I said I was probably gonna start posting less… 😛 But I have some catch-up on a few things I need to get out of the way. And I’ve been sitting around the house resting from the last week in California. My legs are my main MS problem, and they get exhausted after a California trip. It takes a few days for them to feel better again. So, I’ve been blogging because that’s what I do. 😀
Did you know that you can order Murad Skincare online in Canada? I didn’t! Muradcanada.com is open for business and they have pretty cool deals. This weekend they have free shipping with the code LDAY. They also have an Auto-ship feature, where you can pick your fave skincare products and schedule them to be shipped to you as often as you like. Doing that will save you 25% off prices which is great. And for your first order you can get $20 off a $100 order when you enter in your email.
Last month I was sent some skincare samples from Murad to review. I haven’t really tried much from the line before, so I thought why not? I know a lot of people really trust and love the brand.
And they were ok? I mean they were samples, so I can’t really say if they changed my skin or anything as it wasn’t a long enough time to see any real results. But these two sample products Murad sent were my faves and I think they’re worth trying if you’re looking for some new skincare.
Murad Essential C Day Moisture SPF 30 and Murad Age-Balancing Night Cream
Murad Essential C Day Moisture SPF 30($69) is an antioxidant-rich sunscreen with SPF30, plus it helps maintain your skin’s moisture barrier. It’s a solid moisturizer with sunscreen that doesn’t break me out and that’s a good thing! It’s a little expensive though, but if you love a good moisturizer with sunscreen, then this is worth looking into. What I’d recommend is getting this Environmental Shield Travel Set($50) that includes the Essential-C Cleanser, the Advanced Active Radiance Serum, and this Essential-C Moisture SPF 30 so you can try the Vitamin C line from Murad.
Murad Age Balancing Night Cream($85) was the other product that I liked. It’s really hydrating, with essential fatty acids and Shea Butter. It also contains Retinol to help with wrinkles and to help control occasional breakouts without drying out your skin. My skin isn’t a fan of most retinol products(too irritating) but I liked this one a lot, and will probably purchase this full sized one in the future. Again, it’s a little expensive too though. But then again, it seems like a lot of skincare is getting really expensive these days, right?
While I was in California last week, my skin did not like the extreme heat we experienced. It was 106F and we were sweating a lot with all the work we had to do in putting Marky’s bedroom together. WHY does Ikea furniture have to be so damn heavy???!! I ended up breaking out on my chin and even got a couple of spots on my neck. I haven’t broken out that badly in over a year now, and come to think of it the last time that happened was on the way back from the College Road Trip. And since I don’t usually break out-especially lately-I didn’t bring anything to deal with a major breakout. After some investigating, I decided on trying these two Murad products:
At first I actually bought a mask by Dr. Dennis Gross, but that did nothing for me so I exchanged it for the Murad Clarifying Mask($38). It has Kaolin and Bentonite to purify and deep-clean pores by drawing out and absorbing impurities. The Sulfur reduces breakouts, and Zinc and Licorice Extract comfort and calm irritated skin. The instructions say to leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash off, but I think it works amazingly well as an overnight spot treatment. It really does help breakouts look better overnight! It healed my chin in about 2 days without overly drying out my skin. From now on I’m taking this with me on every trip.
The Murad Clarifying Wipes($20) were awesome at cleaning my face periodically in the hot weather. I’d use them to wipe my face of any pore-clogging dirt, sweat and sunscreen. They are gentle and really refreshing too, especially when you’re hot and sweaty. Love them! I kept them in my purse during Disneyland days, and even Terry used them too and liked them. I’m going to put them in my gym bag now, and use them right after Zumba. Good stuff Murad!
What is your sure-fire acne breakout fighter? I don’t usually breakout anymore, especially since I’m getting older. But it seems that every time I go to California I experience some acne. I’m pretty sure it’s because of the heat. See? I told you I’m made for colder, Canadian weather hahaha!
