So, yeah…I should finish talking about the rest of the Dior Cosmopolite Fall 2015 Collection, hey? 😛
There are two new limited edition Dior 5 Couleurs Cosmopolite Eyeshadow Palettes($70 each) in #766 Exubèrante and #866 Eclectic. They sure do make you yearn for fall! They don’t? Ok, maybe just me then! I’ve had enough of summer that’s for sure and can hardly wait for fall. As much as I’m looking forward to going back to California next week, I’m sure not happy about going back to 35C weather.
The shades are perfect for the season. The two centre shades-the gold and and the silver- look really sparkly in the pan, and kind of surprised me as being Dior’s pick for “fall” shades. Usually you see holiday collections with those colours. But that’s just an overspray and underneath the sparkly mess, those two shadows are really quite creamy and nice. Unique too!
Swatchy Time for Dior 5 Couleurs Cosmopolite Eyeshadow Palette #766 Exubèrante:
The only shade that’s problematic is the blue shade. It’s a matte, with some glitter flecks. I don’t get why brands(and it’s not just Dior, loads of brands do this) make shadows in this kind of formula. They never work well imo. The glitters don’t really fuse with the powder and just ruin it. You can see that it doesn’t swatch well, and on the eye it’s the same. It’s best used as a liner shade, or you can use a wet brush to apply it. Works really well that way, and that’s what I did on my bottom lash line. The other shades are creamy and apply and blend nicely, although I do find that it does take some time to blend them. That white gold shade is amazing though-I love that it’s not your typical yellow gold eyeshadow. It’s so much prettier and quite unique for a gold shade-it’s almost cool toned, and I’d label it that way for sure.
Swatchy Time for Dior 5 Couleurs Cosmopolite Eyeshadow Palette #866 Eclectic:
Again from the swatches, you can see that the burgundy shade in Dior 5 Couleurs Cosmopolite Eyeshadow Palette #866 Eclectic is that matte with glitters shadow that I’m not fond of. It takes a bit of time to blend out as well, but I do like the shade! The dark matte hunter green is another one you have to be careful with-too much blending and it can disappear on you, like it did in my look here. It’s on my bottom lash line, but you can barely see it. That silver though! It’s something else! I’ve been looking for a silver eyeshadow like this forever! Most silvers are really metallic or frosted, and lean blue. Not this one! It’s a true grey/white silver-perfect! It really glows and I love it.
Here’s another look where I used the hunter green on the bottom lash line, but didn’t blend it out too much. You can see how well it goes with the burgundy shade.
I’m a bit torn about the Dior 5 Couleurs Cosmopolite Eyeshadow Palettes. I don’t hate them, but I don’t love them either. They kind of get on my eyeshadow nerve to be honest hahaha 😛 I like the colour combos and the shades a lot, but then again they’re not all that unique. Except for the silver and gold shades-those really are unique and boy, I’d love to have them in a separate duo! The rest of the shadows though, aren’t the easiest to work with and require a bit of patience. But if you are a blending fiend and have good brushes, you can create some beautiful fall looks with them. Me? I’d rather spend the money on the Rouge Dior Lipsticks from the Cosmopolite Collection, but that’s because I’m not a big eyeshadow fan these days. Although, fall is the season that make me bust out a smoky eye look more often!
What do you think of the Dior 5 Couleurs Cosmopolite Eyeshadow Palettes? Have you tried them? Will you be picking them up? Do you wear more smoky eye looks in the fall too?
