Trying Out The Amazing Paula’s Choice Skincare

You all know and have heard of Paula’s Choice Skincare by now. Started by Paula Begoun, Paula’s Choice Skincare is skincare that keeps its promises. All products have no added fragrance, dyes or ingredients that can harm the health and function of your skin. And they are part of the Leaping Bunny Program, which means no animal testing at all.

I’ve tried a few of Paula’s Choice products here and there, and did quite like them. But I’ve never tried a complete line that was dedicated to my specific skin type. What can I say-I’m a flighty skincare addict-I LIKE TO TRY EVERYTHING hahahaha. But with Paula’s choice I got to talk to a skincare consultant who asked specific questions about my skin and what issues I have, which is mainly dry, flaky sensitive skin with occasional acne and some big pores around my nose. It was pretty cool to have some one listen and talk to you about what you should be incorporating in your skincare. And based on what she heard, she suggested the Paula’s Choice Moisture Boost Advanced Kit(on sale for $96.05)

This routine replenishes dry skin and prevents signs of aging. It leaves skin looking and feeling moisturized, smooth and radiant. Exactly what Tracy needs!

The Moisture Boost Cleanser($21.25 on sale)is a creamy cleanser that is really great! With ingredients that calm and soothe skin like Chamomile Extract and Aloe Vera, it leaves my skin feeling clean and soft. I really like this cleanser! And you don’t need a lot of it either when using it. Some creamy cleansers you need a lot of product, but this one slightly lathers, so it spreads easier.

The Moisture Boost Toner($17 on sale) has converted me to be a toner user. I never used them before, as I didn’t see the point of them. But this one makes my skin soft! And it doesn’t irritate like most other toners do. I can feel it working and prepping my skin for the rest of the skincare. LOVE it.

The 1% Beta Hydroxy Acid Lotion($20.40 on sale) is the next step. It exfoliates, reduces breakouts, and lightly hydrates leaving a matte finish. I’ve been noticing that I get way less breakouts since using it and my pores are starting to look cleaner and tighter too. The skincare consultant told me to not use it every day, as my skin is so very sensitive. I use it every other day and it’s been great! But if your skin is normal, go ahead and use it ever day. I can detect a bit of an aspirin smell when I apply it, but it eventually goes away.

The Moisture Boost Cream($22.10 on sale) is outstanding. It’s thick, yet light and silky smooth in texture. It feels like I’ve just given my face a drink of water after I’ve applied it. My skin feels so smooth and perfectly moisturized.

The Moisture Boost Moisturizer SPF 30($22 on sale) is the last step. If you’re using any kind of chemical exfoliation, it’s important to use SPF to protect your skin and to also prevent any sun damage. It’s not greasy at all, absorbs instantly and doesn’t break me out!

Resist BHA 9 Acne Spot Treatment, and Resist Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum

The Resist BHA 9 Acne Spot Treatment($34 on sale) is a  concentrated, leave-on acne spot treatment clears up stubborn blemishes and unclogs and shrinks pores as well. Somehow it is very powerful and gets rid of any spots, yet it super gentle on the skin too! I’ve been using it on the pores on my nose to keep them clean and clear as the skincare consultant suggested, and it works great for that!

The Resist Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum($28.90 on sale)  is a silky feeling, super antioxidant serum that contains a blend of amazing anti-aging ingredients that have been researched and proven to provide benefits. It contains stabilized Vitamin C plus potent antioxidants and Peptides to repair damaged cells and rebuild the skin’s protective barrier. I use it at night time, and layer the Moisture Boost Cream on top.

It’s a bit early to see any major changes from my Paula’s Choice Skincare Regimen, but I do notice a more even and brighter skin tone every day, with less redness on my cheeks. The less redness part is great! Oh, and of course no dry flakes either! So I’d say it’s working quite well for me!

I also got to try out some of Paula’s Choice Makeup! The Paula’s Choice Nude Mattes Eyeshadow Palette was designed in collaboration with YouTube makeup artist Wayne Goss. I was kind of wondering how come Wayne hadn’t created any makeup yet since his brushes are so popular hahaha-I guess he did!

The Paula’s Choice Nude Mattes Eyeshadow Palette($34) contains 12 neutral eyeshadow shades. All are matte except there’s one soft shimmer shade that you can add on top of any shade to add some shine if you want.

They are pretty nice matte eyeshadows I have to say! They are soft and smooth and build up in colour quite easily and blend beautifully. Like most mattes, there’s a bit of product kick-up when you dip your brush into them, so be careful.

Here’s a nice, simple day look and a smoky night time look I created with the palette.

It’s a great palette for sure and really affordable too!

I’ve tried a lot of skincare. A LOT. And I truly think that Paula’s Choice is a luxury skincare system on a budget. With amazing, quality ingredients, most of her products are under $50. Other companies might have some of the same ingredients, but at less effective concentrations and charge well over $100. I challenge you to take the Paula’s Choice challenge and see how her products can change your skin for the better. I have an exclusive promo code for you to get 20% off any one item and free shipping, using code PRIMP20. Also be sure to download the Pretty In My Pocket (PRIMP) app, which I am a proud new member of! PRIMP-Seal-2015

The app is free and really cool! You’ll see product reviews and makeup looks from both expert beauty bloggers (like moi) and every day women. You can also scan products in store when you’re shopping to see any reviews before you buy something! How many times have you needed something like that, hey? PRIMP has finally come to rescue you from buying a horrible product! Gotta love that!

Have you tried anything from Paula’s Choice Skincare before? What have you liked? If you haven’t, now’s the time! There’s a sale on, plus you can use my discount code too! It’s the perfect time to try!

  • Glad you are happy with these goodies! I used to use Paula’s Choice skin care (her BHA Lotion in particular) about 7-8 years ago and am definitely tempted to check out the brand once again 🙂

  • I used several PC products many years ago and was very happy with them, particularly the BHA liquid and the Resist Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum. I bought the BHA liquid again last year but my skin has changed since I used it last and it didn’t really get along. I really want the Resist Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum again because it was SO silky, absorbed perfectly, and made my skin glow! GOOD STUFF! 🙂
PS: Girl, that brown and black smoky eye is to die for!

    • That serum is amazing! I love it. It’s the one thing I’m going to make sure I always have.
      And thanks! xx

  • Efrain

I have only one problem with Paula’s Choice it’s a pain in the @ss get her products in Mexico. I can’t say if they’re bad or not but when there’s no shipping to Mexico and no real stores here you can only watch.

  • Emma Bovary

I’ve been wanting to try PC for the longest time, ugrh need to get rid of a bunch of skincare and just do it

  • I’m a big fan of PC skin care! I order on a regular basis from the Dutch website, I just placed another order last week for a serum.

  • Lily

OK I think I’m the only one who hasn’t tried or heard of Paula’s Choice. Probably because they don’t have presence here in my country? That, or I’ve been living in my own world under a shell!

  • Vanessa

I’ve been using paulaschoice for years now, and it’s been great.

One tip would be to try a lot of the sample packs. I was using the dry skin lines (mostly skin recovery) for a few years, then suddenly, my skin got very blemish prone and fickle. I switched to using a combo of the RESIST ultra light and skin balancing (oily skin) lines. I’m back in my groove, and it’s great! However, the hydralight line for oily skin didn’t work for me, so yeah… try a variety of samples.

  • Liz

I went off to check out Paula’s stuff and forgot to leave a comment, lol! I’m so tempted but just don’t have the space for more skin care products right now. Some day!!!!

    • Hahaha stuff is GOOD dude! When you got space do give them a try you will be surprised and HAPPY I promise!

  • I’ve never tried Paula’s Choice but I’ve been meaning to! They seem to offer so many different products, so I love reading about the ones that people really like. Really glad to hear you enjoyed the toner as much as you did! I’m picky about my toners.

    • Yes! It’s a really good one! I never really used one before as they always seemed drying, but this one isn’t like that at all!

  • Toya

I’ve always been curious about her line but never tried…I’m tempted now! My skin has been super-sensitive lately and breakout prone (ah, hormones!) so I’ll have to do a little investigation first.

    • Yes do investigate! They have so many options. And their consultants know their stuff!

  • BooBooNinja

I’ve been using Paula’s Choice products for years. I’m glad you like them too.
