Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection Review

I really love the whole idea and meaning behind the Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection:

EXPRESSION. Release your inner artist and become your own canvas!

Now, that’s an idea AND a collection I can get behind! I’m all for inner expression…I am after all, a child of the 70s and early 80s to be exact…EXPRESSION. That time, those years, was ALL about expression! And this Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection kinda’ has that 70s, 80s makeup experimentation vibe to it! And? It’s MY JAM. As we used to say back then, in the olden makeup days...I DIG IT.  😛

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, NOBODY does packaging like Lise Watier! It’s always my favourite. I mean seriously…who can compete with THAT. PFFFFFFT. Nobody I tell ya’.

Let’s look at the star of the Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection, the Limited Edition Palette Expression for eyes($42):

Five creamy and pigmented eyeshadows in the amazing Lise Watier cream-powder formula with finishes of semi-matte to iridescent are just gorgeous and WOW. And tell me that they DON’T have a 70s, early 80s vibe to them…I mean C’MON.. LOOK at that baby blue aqua shade! I dies…  😛

And on the eyes, these shadows just GLOW!

I love it! You could make that khaki green shade the focus and tone down the whole look, but I say WHY. Embrace the brights! This is such a lovely and pretty look for spring! And YES…if you are my age we can totally pull this look off! We did it before, and we can do it again! HIGH FIVE MY LADIES!

The blush! The Lise Watier Expression Blush Trio($38)! The texture is divine! It’s really soft in texture and in pigment as well.

You can use each shade separately, but eh-Tracy just swirls them all together because I am an impatient blush fiend these days 😛 I just want blush NOW hahaha!

It could be a tad more pigmented, but it’s really lovely! I do think this is a blush for pale gals like myself, and I think if you’re darker than NC20 in MAC talk, this probably won’t be a blush for you.

The Lise Watier Expression Eye Shine is an amazing, charcoal grey liner!

And there’s a new shade in the Feline Eyeliner HD($20), Vert, a dark turquoise green that’s oh so lovely.

And probably my FAVOURITE product in the whole collection is the Lise Watier Ombre Soufflè($24) in the new shade Fairy Pink. OMG. LOVE. This is pretty much the ONLY cream eyeshadow that lasts on my dastardly oily lids. I love the formula so much, that I’ve even got another shade or two during the last Shoppers Optimum Redemption, and THAT is something folks. I could be redeeming for Guerlain, but nope! Lise Watier made the cut baby! I take my free makeup seriously yo. I kind of agonize when I’m redeeming…weighing the pros and cons of products and brands…but it wasn’t a hard decision to redeem for another Lise Water Ombre Soufflè because I think they are THAT GOOD. Get one. You’ll thank me later. 😀

There’s a Limited Edition Rouge Gourmand Velours lipstick in the shade Expression of course!

Lise Watier Rouge Gourmand Velours($22) are Canada’s No.1 matte lipstick, and for good reason! They are comfortable! With Jojoba oil in the formula, they are smooth and creamy and not drying at all.

Expression is a gorgeous, matte, rosy coral that’s pretty perfect for spring.  It’s bright and happy! Just what we need right now! I don’t know about you, but I’ve been pulling out all my bright lipsticks and wearing them …and hoping that wearing them will get rid of winter…so far, it’s not working hahaha…but maybe this week it finally WILL work! To tell you the truth, I feel kind of gypped lately. When I first moved to Alberta, spring started about NOW. Yup. I remember there being hardly any snow by mid March when I first moved here…and even when Marky was little! But lately the snow hasn’t disappeared until late MAY folks…and I say…WHERE’S THE GLOBAL WARMING HEY. WHERE. Hahaha…and don’t worry…I DO believe in Global Warming…but I think weather patterns sometimes can over-ride that..which amazes me.

Anyhoooooo! I know people get their makeup wands all entangled in seasonal high end brand releases like Dior and Chanel. Which still…after all these years I’ve been blogging, kind of amazes me. Because honestly? There’s really not that much new, or GOOD there. I can’t say it any other way except: STOP BUYING INTO THE MAKEUP LABELS. It’s time to start exploring OUR makeup, CANADIAN makeup. Because this Lise Watier Expression Spring 2015 Collection? And pretty much most of her line? Is SO much better than those high end designer brands. If you’re not buying Lise Watier, I’m sorry but you are missing out my friend. And you friends of mine in the USA, you do know that you can order online! Yeah, shipping is expensive and I know that’s hard to swallow when you live in the land of FREE SHIPPING NO MATTER WHAT. But us Canadians have had to deal with high shipping costs all of our lives, and it’s really not that bad…especially when something is SO GOOD. Like Lise Watier…it’s WORTH it. Do it. And tell me I was wrong… I freakin’ DARE YOU.

What’s been YOUR favourite Spring Makeup Collection so far? And, if you read my blog regularly, do ya’ see what I mean about how different Spring Collections are from brand to brand? This is why it’s my favourite makeup season I swear!

  • The blush – swirled of course – and the eyeliner stand out for me! So puuuurty!

  • That palette is so pretty on you, but most probably not for me LOL I like the blush as well, but if you say it will be difficult to show up past NC 20 skin tones, I’m not even sure about that! Spring is really not my favorite season when it comes to makeup, but this year is so much better than last year when EVERYBODY was doing pastel. I just can’t get into it!

    • You could totally wear the olive khaki green as the main colour Sunny and just use the aqua shade as an accent, or on the lower lash line like you did with the Givenchy stuff.
And yes! lotsa’ variety this year!

  • What happened to the blush??? It looks like it’s broken or cracked.. I once heard about this brand from Michelle Phan, she used her white eyeshadow or something but that was back when she was small and unknown. Must be a local brand now this Watier Lise?

    • LOL it’s just an artsy design! It’s a Canadian brand-always was! But it’s so much better than most brands out there!

      • Ah that explains it hasn’t gone global, used to think she would have by now but it didn’t happen for some reason. Compared to many other brands, I don’t like this artsy one 😛

      • Have you actually tried her makeup? I test a lot of makeup, and It’s better than Chanel, Lancome, Dior-I could keep on listing but I think I’ve made my point.

  • Lily

I never liked Spring collections because the colours are usually way too pastel for my skin tone. This year, I’m seeing more muted pastels and even brights that are very pretty. I hope Lise Watier expands soon and reaches us. That’ll be awesome 🙂

    • Yeah, these are bright pastels which I love!
I hope they do too! They need to be all over!

  • Eyeshadow Addict

You are so right about Lise Watier kicking everyone else’s butt. I LOVE LW. Three of the items from my “2014 Faves” were LW. Finally, something for Canadians! 🙂

    • Right?! They are amazing lately. I don’t even go near the Chanel counter anymore because why?

      • Eyeshadow Addict

Exactly! Why spend double for…nothing special?

  • LOL. The land of free shipping. Hilarious.

I like that palette! The colors are so pretty and look like pastels done right. And oooh, green liner *_* And the pink cream shadow looks pretty, too! I just about used up my Laura Mercier Rose Gold Caviar Stick and I’m debating what to get next. I do have to say that free shipping is a big factor, lol, so I might stick with something at Sephora or Nordstrom…but the LW shadows are tempting!

    • It’s true! 😀
That green liner you’d LOVE. Yeah hahaha-see! Free shipping always wins out lol!

  • Greens always look so gorgeous on you! I wish I could pull them off so well. And your lashes look sooo long!

It is a very pretty collection and it does scream spring. And I love Spring makeup releases although this year, none of the eyeshadow palettes wowed me enough to buy. I have beein trying to wear bright lipsticks too but the winter seems to be here in Michigan for good. -10 F in the morning today! Ugh!

    • Awww, thanks Agata!!
I’ve been embracing the bright lips, as I find with my big glasses I really need something on my lips to balance out my face! But yes-if it’s really cold-like today with the windchill it felt like -24C, I don’t wear lipstick. Lip balm!

  • In a word that packaging is SPECTACULAR!!!!

  • I’m not a fan of this collection at all, as I’m more of a neutrals gal, but I DO agree that Lise Watier is the shizz and very underrated! I’ve had some real duds with high-end “designer” brands, but I would always encourage people to check out LW at their drugstore. Their skincare is awesome too.

    • Yeah, this is not for neutral gals that’s for sure!
And you are right-their skincare is really great too!

  • The palette seems nice and I loooooove the look you created with it, so summery and fun! 🙂 x

  • Pretty, pretty! Love the watercolour style packaging of the collection and those pastels are super pretty with your eyes. Killer lipstick too 🙂

  • GORGEOUS! At first I was thinking those blues would look super “Dame Edna” tacky but they really do glow, like you said. I really need to get more into Lise Watier, they have been killing it with their collections lately.

    • LOL hahaha I was thinking that too, but I just LOVE aqua! And yes you do! Pretty much every one is a big hit for me!

  • rachlovespenguins

Pretty shadows! I wish I could get away with aqua, but it and something about my colouring just do not get along.
And I love how you’ve matched your hat to your eyes here. 😀

  • I love everything about this collection!! It’s like spring graffiti and I LOVE it! The bright aqua shadow looks so beautiful on you! I recently bought a Dior quad and was extremely disappointed by it. It was the sheerest, weakest color payoff I’ve ever seen. I literally saw nothing when I put it on my NARS primed lids. I love Dior lipsticks, but that eyeshadow palette was pitiful and insultingly overpriced. Lise Watier looks like a winner!

    • Thanks! Yeah, I don’t even bother with Dior and Chanel now, although I do like Dior Lipsticks too. But eh-there are SO many good lipsticks around now! I tend to share the lipstick love LOL! And I seem to be kind of addicted to NARS Audacious HAHAHA!

  • BooBooNinja

SDM Super redemption days kick me in the butt. It’s hard to go from scrimping and saving to splurging. #firstworldproblems The pressure to spend a full $100 or $200. Ahhhh. As you know, last time I freaked out and bought junk food.

  • dowantmakeup

EVERY TIME. Every time, I’m like ah I need time to research and prepare my shopping list for redemption and then I never do. And then it’s redemption time again and I’m still just hoarding points because I don’t know what to do with it all. Also, I love that turquoise on you. Such pretty eyes you have, Tracy! I almost hate you for your beautiful, lush lashes but please don’t have me thrown overboard for mutiny.

    • I know- I was caught off guard for this one! I wasn’t expecting it! But I’m glad I as in Calgary and got some UD. Get some Lise Watier next time! The ombre souffle! Get one. You’ll love it.
And LOL-thanks! Hahahaha-I’d never make you walk the plank Petey! 🙂

  • mattescience

With brands like Lise Watier, Annabelle and Marcelle we are really spoilt for choice with quality Canadian brands available at the drugstore. The only Lise Watier product that’s ever disappointed me is their eyeshadow primer, which is a shame because it feels great & is well-priced, but I find it doesn’t extend the wear at all 🙁

BUT you’re now the second blogger who looked at the whole collection and said the souffle ombre was your favourite, allyfantaisies said the same thing! So that’s been added to the must-buy column for me, especially since you say it really is long-wearing when very little else is.
As for the palette, I did end up picking it up and love-love-loving it. Especially that gorgeous yellow, which was tricky to photograph but just brightens up the whole face. I’ve been using it in the inner corner like you have there, and it’s stellar. Another Lise Watier home run IMO.

Have you had any chance to try out the baiser velours?

    • Canadian makeup ROCKS! I haven’t tried the primer-I only use the NARS one since it works most of the time for me.
Yes! I have really oily lids-like REALLY OILY. These last! I do use my NARS primer first, because I have to. I picked up another at the last redemption-the prettiest taupe ever! I can’t remember what it’s name is-I think taupe is in the name! Look at that one!
Yes! I have tried the Baiser Velours! Review coming this week! I like them! 🙂

  • I saw you in Avon catalogue and just had to stop by here. 🙂 I’m new to Canada, only migrated here on September last year and am still trying to figure out which are the real deal for Canadian makeup brands. I’ve seen Lise Watier A LOT but haven’t tried anything from the brand as I had very minimal knowledge about it. Great review, I’ll be picking up a few things to try soon.

    • Wow! Thanks! I’m so glad you stopped by! Welcome! I hope you love it here!
Lise Watier has been around for over 40 years and is the #4 selling makeup brand in Canada, so yes! Do try something! I think you will love!

  • You really do rock the heck out of those turquoise shades! Also I’m loving the blush!
