My 2014 Favourites-Skincare!

HEYYYYYYY how you DOIN’?? I hope you all had the bestest Christmas ever! Lotsa’ love and food and all that stuff. Notice I didn’t mention presents? I’m happy you got them and all, but here in our house we don’t participate in the gift giving of Christmas. It’s just something we don’t do. Instead, we donate money to The Huron Carol, a message of hope and inspiration to eliminate hunger during the holiday season by actor, singer, and lifetime philanthropist Tom Jackson(he was in Star Trek The Next Gen btw!). It’s a cause we strongly believe in. There’s nothing wrong with the whole presents thang, just not our style over here is all! I’m not judging either, don’t get me wrong! I’m just at the age where honestly, I don’t NEED anything anymore… 😛

ANYHOOOOOOOOOOoooo, enough preaching Tracy…let’s get down to bizness! We’re talking My 2014 Favourites! Stuff that I, snarky Tracy reviewed, loved and STILL use pretty much every day. There’s kind of a lot, especially skincare wise! This year was quite the year for me and skincare-with always on the hunt for anti-aging miracles, to my battle with skin sensitivity-skincare has been the BIGGEST part of my beauty year for sure. So, let’s start with that! And then I’ll do another post on the fun makeup stuffs.

Favourite Cleanser

A-Derma Exomega Emollient Cleansing Oil

A-Derma Exomega Emollient Cleansing Oil

MAN, I love this stuff. I use it every evening in the shower. I reviewed it HERE in case you missed my review. A-Derma Exomega Emollient Cleansing Oil is my favourite skincare find of the year! It’s perfect for dry to very dry and eczema-prone skin, and made for everyone-babies to adults. You can use it on your face AND your body, that’s how gentle it is. It contains ingredients to help soothe and calm skin while gently cleansing it. What I do now, is pour a bit of it on my next favourite 2014 in skincare- Boscia Konjac Cleansing Sponges!

Favourite Cleansing Tool

Boscia Konjac Cleansing Sponge

Boscia Konjac Cleansing Sponge

I also use Boscia Konjac Cleansing Sponges in the shower, since you have to hang them to air dry in-between uses, but I REALLY enjoy using them! They gently exfoliate and make my skin feel extra clean! My Clarisonic has been officially banished now-that thing just irritates my skin to no end. BYE-BYE. But Konjac sponges? DON’T. Try one! You’ll be as hooked as I am-promise!

Favourite Serum

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Serum

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Serum.jpg

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Serum

I can’t live without Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Serum. I can’t. And neither can the redhead, Marky. I’ve had to send it to her in California, along with some instant noodles and chocolate. 😛  But that SERUM. You GUYS. Changed my skin. No more dry patches to fight with! And if you get them you know what I’m talking about. Picking off those flakes after you apply foundation is NOT FUN. And thanks to this serum I don’t have tweezers dedicated to do this anymore! It’s AMAZING. Now, some of my friends say that it has a strong scent to it??? But I honestly don’t notice much? It’s a bit floral, but dissipates quickly. But I thought I’d mention it in case you are like them and are really sensitive to scents as they are. ME?? SCREW THE SMELL(even tho I can’t smell anything) because this is hands down the BEST serum I’ve ever used. I’ve bought at least 5 bottles of the stuff since reviewing it.

OH!!! Let’s step back there dang it! I forgot about this!

Avene Thermal Spring Water

Avene Thermal Spring Water.jpg

Avene Thermal Spring Water

Avene Thermal Spring Water is my new found love this year. I’ve tried every thermal water out there, but this one? THE ITCHY HORSE WAS RIGHT. I spray this on my bare skin after cleansing, after showering, after ANYTHING-it really has made a difference in my skin and decreased the redness. And I even use it to refresh my curls in the AM, and to set my makeup as well. LOVE YOU HORSEY.

Speaking of Avène, My favourite eye cream is from them too!

Avène Soothing Eye Contour Cream

Avène Soothing Eye Contour Cream.jpg

Avène Soothing Eye Contour Cream

Avène Soothing Eye Contour has alpha-bisabosol which comes from Chamomile! Chamomile tea is my favourite tea. I try to get all hipster tea and drink some David’s Tea, but honestly? Just pour me a good cuppa’ chamomile and I’m happy. Avène Soothing Eye Contour reduces flaking and helps restore suppleness to dry skin. It also stimulates and promotes the skin’s healing process. I have given up on most eye creams-never believed in them and their anti-aging GET RID OF WRINKLES promises. If you still believe that an eye cream is gonna get rid of crow’s feet then WAKE UP WOMAN. I love you but seriously, it’s not gonna happen. But this eye cream? Hydrates and soothes. And that’s all you can, and SHOULD expect from an eye cream. Eye Cream rant over hahahaha…..

ZIT FIGHTER EXTRAORDINNAIRE: Paula’s Choice CLEAR 5% Benzoyl Peroxide Treatment

Paula's Choice CLEAR 5% Benzoyl Peroxide Treatment.jpg

Paula’s Choice CLEAR 5% Benzoyl Peroxide Treatment

Paula’s Choice CLEAR 5% Benzoyl Peroxide Treatment is REALLY GOOD. I dab this stuff on and BAZINGA! Any acne is diminished TOOT SWEET! Love this stuff. It is drying though, so be prepared for that after the fact. But no zit is totally worth the dryness in my books!

Favourite Moisturizer

Live Clean Fresh Face 24 Hour Hydrating Day Cream

Live Clean Fresh Face 24 Hour Hydrating Day Cream.jpg

Live Clean Fresh Face 24 Hour Hydrating Day Cream

I need to review the entire Live Clean Fresh Face Line-SOON, I promise. But this Live Clean Fresh Face 24 Hour Hydrating Day Cream is pretty great stuff, since it’s found AT THE DRUGSTORE! HELLO! Man, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve spent money on skincare at department stores, only to be disappointed beyond belief. NO MORE. My skincare from now on will ONLY come from the drugstore. Live Clean Fresh Face 24 Hour Hydrating Day Cream is for normal to dry skin and is intensely hydrating. Infused with a moisturizing complex developed from the roots of beets, it provides immediate results and leaves skin perfectly hydrated for 24 hours. Vitamins C & E help promote healthy looking skin too. 24 Hour Hydrating Day Cream is fast-absorbing, non-greasy, and leaves my skin smooth and supple. I really LOVE this stuff. And do you see the SIZE of it? It’s HUGE. And affordable! And it smells really good too! Stay tuned for my thoughts on the entire line pretty soon!

Favourite Exfoliator and Masque(still using that French spelling)

Amore Pacific Treatment Enzyme Peel Exfoliator and Moisture Bound Sleeping Recovery Masque

Amore Pacific Treatment Exfoliator and Moisture Bound Sleeping Recovery Masque.jpg

Amore Pacific Treatment Enzyme Peel Exfoliator and Moisture Bound Sleeping Recovery Masque

Amore Pacific Treatment Enzyme Peel Exfoliator and Moisture Bound Sleeping Recovery Masque are two of the more affordable products in the Amore Pacific line. Like WOW. Shiz is expensive yo’. But these two products are worth the $$. The Enzyme Peel Exfoliator is unlike any exfoliator I’ve ever tried in my whole life. It’s a powder. You pour a bit into your hand, add water, and start washing your face with it for about 30 seconds or so. It foams up. There’s no grit at all. After you rinse it off, your skin is SMOOOVE and bright! It’s amazing. The Amore Pacific Moisture Bound Sleeping Recovery Masque is another LOVE form the $$ brand. I use this all the time at night, especially when travelling. Just a light layer at night and you’ll wake up to lovely, hydrated skin every time!

Favourite Makeup Remover

L’Oreal Paris  Sublime Soft Micellar Solution

L'Oreal Paris Sublime Soft Micellar Solution.jpg

L’Oreal Paris Sublime Soft Micellar Solution

It’s all I use these days to remove my eye makeup and most of my face makeup too. L’Oreal Paris Sublime Soft Micellar Solution is gentle and never stings my sensitive eyes or skin. It’s awesome stuff, but just make sure you get it on sale because DANG sometimes it’s way too expensive imo, even though I love the stuff. But $8.99 is way better than $14.99, right? Seriously.

Have I bored you yet??   😛 Ok last thing.

Favourite Self Tanner

Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster

Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster.jpg

Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster

Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster was something I was kind of lukewarm about when I reviewed it, but the stuff has really grown on me! I use this a lot. My neck is always so much paler than my face thanks to my BIG ASS HEAD. My neck never sees the sun I swear. Any wrinkles I have on my neck are because of CHUBBY. THANKS MOM. 😀 😀  I use Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster to make my neck match my face tone, especially after being in Sunny California, which has been often thanks to my Marky going to college there. I should really just move there…hahaha…maybe someday!

PHEW. That’s was a lot! I hope you lasted until the end! Stay tuned for my makeup loves of 2014! Have any of these products been YOUR favourites too?

  • This favourites list is awesome, dude!! I wanna try that serum now — it sounds fantastic! And that Live Clean moisturizer, too (I think the whole line is ‘cone-free?)

    • Thanks love! It is! Cones-free, paragon-free-free of ALL the bad things! It’s pretty awesome.

  • I have the cream for the Vichy Aqualia Thermal. It’s good but not amazing. Maybe the serum’s a lot better. I want to try it, too!

  • Love this list! I’m using a foam cleanser from A-derma at the moment, I do like it! I’ve been hearing a lot of the Vichy serum, might check it out sometime next year. 🙂

  • Great list!! I love that Vichy serum (pretty sure because of your rec). Must try out the PC zit zapper and see how it compares to the Body Shop’s tea tree line, some of which I’m loving recently.

  • Hey Tracy, I didn’t know you guys don’t do presents! Now I can see why all the gift guides drove you BANANAS LOL

You’ve certainly had a big year in terms of skincare! I have discovered some real gems along the way that I plan to keep going back to as well, including Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm, Verso, and Caudalie Polyphenol C15! I’ve heard great things about Amore Pacific but it’s impossible to get here! Glad to hear you’ve found great things in the line-up that are worth the price tag 🙂

    • YUP hahahahaha!

I still need to try that Clinique Cleansing Balm! Too bad you can’t get Amore-I think you’d really love their products!

  • I’m already tired of everyone and their mother talking about Christmas “hauls” and marsala and their new year’s resolutions and those FUCKING tom ford lipsticks. I need a break, LOL. I want to try Amore Pacific stuff but holy $$$! I need to wait, lol. I like that Vichy serum a lot. It DOES have a scent, but it’s like every other skincare scent – that vaguely floral “skincare” scent, LOL. I’m allergic to benzoyl peroxide, I think, so I have to stick to salicylic acid – I once tried a BP treatment and the area broke out in a rash, hahaha. That was not good.

ALSO that day cream sounds good! I never explore my drugstore options much, because I find that they’re getting pretty pricey, too! But Target carries Laneige, which I want to try next year. <3 <3 <3 Tracy!

    • LOL I know right? I don’t want to see your Christmas HAUL for freaks sake. I haven’t seen much on Marsala or the lipsticks, but I haven’t been keeping up to be honest. Those two Amore things are the more affordable things though if you do want to try something! That mask you’d really love!
I agree, drugstore is starting to climb up in price as well! But at least nothing over $100 yet LOL!

  • I love your idea of donating to the charity Tracy! I find Christmas can be so stressful so we consciously downplayed it this year – sure we were with close family but kept it more about the company and less about the presents! Looking at your list reminds me to try L’Oreal’s Micellar water if we have it here – I’m quite the fan of micellar water these days for removing my facial makeup (still use a special remover for my waterproof eye makeup) because it feels so soothing and refreshing on my skin! Again wishing you and yours a wonderful festive season! xoxo

    • Thanks VIta! Yeah, we just don’t do the whole presents thing-it’s not worth it. It’s about enjoying family Christmas anyways! I only use micellar now-no more oily eye makeup removers. My eyes can’t take them. Happy holidays to you and your family too my friend!

  • It’s good to know that all these products get the Tracy stamp of approval 🙂 I’m becoming more and more of a Paula’s Choice fan. I have a few products from the CLEAR line and I like ’em a lot.

    • Hahaha, thanks! Her products are good! Just be careful to not over-use them I found otherwise OUCH.

  • Efrain

We have one product in common: the L’Oréal micelle water; however what impresses me it’s the price you pay for it since it’s more common that products are more expensive in Mexico. Its normal price here it’s like 7.80 CAD and when it’s on sale it’s like 6.25 CAD. I really like it.

I still need to try that Vichy serum and found how to try Paula’s Choice products.

    • WOW, so cheap for you! LUCKY!

Paula probably ships to you for sure!

      • Efrain

As long as I know Paula’s doesn’t ship to Mexico. Today I saw that Garnier also sells one micelle water and it’s even cheaper, so it’s a must try.

  • Lily

Happy new year Tracy! Some good stuff here 🙂 I wish they carried the L’Oreal makeup remover here. I use the Avene water to clean Ashton’s butt. LOL! And that Vichy serum. I NEED to get that to try. I have 2 more serums I haven’t opened. Once I devour them, I’ll try this one.

    • Hmmmm, I’ll have to look at sending you some I guess! That Vichy one is my GOLD serum for sure. It’s amazing!

  • I gave a huge 1L bottle of that A-derma tot my sister with 2 kids that have skin conditions.. I keep telling her to use it a lot, it’s cheap and it works. If you like enzyme powder exfoliants (I love them) you should check out the Givenchy hydra sparkling powder, Nude fizzy power (I recently reviewed it) or the Tatcha powders. All 3 are amazing with no grit yet marble perfect skin.

    • It does! It’s such a good product. I really want to try Tatcha-it’s on my list for sure! I think those fizzy powders are SO good!

  • Liz

Haha, I always think of you when I see A-Derma now!

  • LOL! Love you for saying “shiz is expensive, yo”! That was in true Jesse Pinkman style! I’ve gots to try a konjac sponge this year, and you’re making me think I need that Vichy serum that has changed your life and Marky’s! I love that Clarins bronzer so much, too. I love that you can add it to whatever moisturizer you already have and love that doesn’t break you out. Brilliant!! Adding Vichy serum to wish list TOOT SUITE.

    • 😀 GAWDDDD I miss Breaking Bad so much!
Yes! Try a sponge! I can’t believe how much I like it! And yes! That serum is like my favourite thing ever. If I miss a day? I notice it.
And thanks! We just don’t like the whole gift thang. It’s just a little too much for us.
