Simon & Tom Soft Peeling Gel

Simon & Tom Soft Peeling Gel is…different! Let me explain.

Simon & Tom Soft Peeling Gel($69.90)is an exfoliator, or rather as the company calls it..a facial peeler. And yup, that’s actually a better description! Everybody can use it, no matter what your skin type is. Made with 100 % pure Moroccan Argan Oil, tea leaf extract, aloe vera, orange peel extract, papaya extract, pomegranate extract and cucumber extract, it’s got a lot of great ingredients to hydrate and nourish skin while literally, and I mean literally- PEELING away dull, dead skin cells.

INGREDIENTS: Water, Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Maris Sal, Aloe Barbadensis Lead Juice, Carbomer Triethanolamine, Decydroacetic Acid, Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate, nylon-66, phenoxyethanol (fragnance) supplement, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil (Argan Oil), orange (citrus Aurantium Dulcis) Peel Extract, Papaya (carica Papaya) Extract, Pomegranate (punica Granatum) Extract, Cucumber (cucumis Sativus) Fruit Extract, Dunaliella Bardawil Extract, Solanum Lycopersicum Tomato Fruit

As you can see there are loads of natural extracts in Simon & Tom Soft Peeling Gel like aloe vera which is anti-inflammatory and smooths the skin. There’s orange peel extract to help to reduce oiliness in the skin and papaya extract to dissolve the dead skin cells. Pomegranate extract will help to prevent and reverse dryness and reduced elasticity, and cucumber extract to also calm skin irritations.

It’s indeed a gel! No grainy beads in it at all, because that’s not how it works. What you do is apply a generous layer of Soft Peeling Gel onto clean wet skin, and then start massaging it into your face for 1 – 2 minutes. I highly recommend doing this in the shower ONLY, because what happens is that it starts to kind of disappear into your skin, but then you’ll notice these kind of gummy flakey bits on your skin appear. And they are kind of sticky to be honest, and unless you have a good stream of water handy, a little hard to rinse off. I  decided to jump in the shower to rinse it off, because even a washcloth wasn’t working. I was kind of miffed and ready to throw the stuff into the garbage after that.

My face was so SMOOTH. And BRIGHTER. And TIGHTER. But not dry at all! What those gummy flakes were was my dead, dry skin cells sloughing off and it was kind of an alarming amount to be honest! But I guess that’s how much build up there was to get rid of because I didn’t recognize my skin after using  Simon & Tom Soft Peeling Gel. It’s really neat! Twice a week is the recommended amount you use it, and oh yeah, I’m going to keep using it! It didn’t irritate my intolerant, sensitive skin at all either. It’s a keeper! A messy one albeit, but messy GOODNESS.

You can order this weird yet neat product from Amazon!

Have you ever tried a peeling gel before? It’s a pretty different experience!

*product sent by PR for review, thoughts are mine as always!

  • Interesting!! I like the ingredients, and sounds like it wont burn my skin off. I’ve tried a couple of gel based facial peels before, but usually they dry enough so I can peel it off easily and only need to wipe off little bits left behind.

  • ooooh! it is MAGIC. Gawd I love a good chemical exfoliant.

  • Oh yay, messy goodness!!! For the result you have described, I’d gladly put up with the mess! I stopped exfoliating my skin a few years ago and switched to chemical peeling. It just works so much better!

    • I wish I could use them Sunny, but my skin just can’t tolerate them. Although this is sort of chemical too, just gentler.

  • The REN Flash peel is like this! It becomes weird and gummy as you wet it and massage in. It’s weird. I don’t know if I like weird, lol!

  • It looks interesting although I never keep up with regular exfoliation. I use Pixi Exfoliating Toner a few times a week and I also got a sample of the exfoliating fizzy powder wash from Nude Skincare and it’s really nice to use!

Fun! But also maybe a little creepy, haha! I quit with chemicals after the fantastically-accidental-lip-burning-incident of 2013, but maybe this kind would be safer. I doubt I’ll be giving up my Tatcha exfoliating powder anytime soon though.

    • YUP creepy yes! LOL I love how you name the incident HAHAHA we do that in my house too! I need Tatcha in my life!

      • rachlovespenguins

Naming all the incidents gives me pause to not only laugh at myself, but to remember NEVER TO DO THAT AGAIN. hahahahaha
I’m glad I’m not the only one who names them though. Do you have a favourite mishap? I love seeing how others compare to my own seemingly unparallelled mess-making ability.
And Tatcha has a sitewide 20% off Friends and Family event coming up at the end of the month. Just sayin. 😉

      • Hmmm might have to hit you up on that then! ;D
Not a beauty mishap as you, but just general family stuff we give names to, like The Garlic Salad Stink College Roadtrip 2014. WOW. And that one was because of ME HAHAHAHA.

I’ve tried this sort of “peeling” masks before and they did make the skin look/feel nice but I didn’t like the process. Still prefer simple chemical peels or super fine exfoliating scrubs.

  • Jayne

My skin felt amazing after using this too, but the first time I had major issues woth rinsing it off and I was convinced it had become chemically attached to my skin. It was a bit terrifying, but I will admit that my skin also looked FANTASTIC.

    • I know! ME TOO. I was scared actually that I wouldn’t get it off so I jumped in the shower. Definitely a shower-ONLY exfoliator!

      • Jayne

Um yeah! I hopped into the shower and had to use an actual cleanser to get it off.

  • Stop it, Tracy! Just stop it! My to-buy list keeps getting longer and the worst part is that I can almost never tick anything off it, because I don’t have access to most of the brands that you rave about 🙁 🙁 This sounds really awesome. I hate it.

  • These peeling type products are quite popular in Korea. I do believe they help a lot (and it is so satisfying to see! ^-^) but also gimmicky since most of the flakes are product itself. To think about it, it better not be all dead skin cells. LOL
I’d be very much interested in the product and am happy to hear it is avail on amazon. Love all the soothing ingredients. 🙂

  • Oh my gosh– this looks so beautiful. Such a sucker for pretty packaging. and all the ingredients sound like they’re so good for your skin!

  • Toya

INTERESTING! This sounds really neat, Tracy! I love that it doesn’t cause any irritation. I wish it were easier to find, I’m not much for Amazon purchases. BUT I might just try it if I’m feeling adventurous one day!

  • I’ve been using this and I love it. It’s on a par with Elemis Papaya Enzyme Peel and Monu Radiance Treatment. Brilliant stuff. : )
