A-Derma Exomega Emollient Cleansing Oil

As you know I was having a terrible time with my skin the last couple of months. It was sensitized, red, and itchy. It hurt! I think it was because of a combination of things: the California Road trip and all the sun and heat, some products that didn’t agree with my skin at all, and age. I’m nearing menopause in case you didn’t know, and I’m telling you the fun just never ends with THAT. It’s just a roller coaster ride of hormonal havoc. I’ve been going through it for a couple of years now, and I think I might be nearing the end FINALLY. I hope at least, because my period has disappeared again and the awful hot flashes are back. They’re not as severe as they were when they first appeared, but still super annoying. And I’m pretty sure that dip in hormones was a huge reason for my skin woes. I mean, just washing my face with a wash cloth was chaffing my skin! I was ready to just give up.

Over the next couple of posts I’m going to show you the products I’ve been using that have helped, so let’s get started with probably my favourite product of the whole YEAR, A-Derma Exomega Emollient Cleansing Oil. All products in the A-Derma brand are formulated with Rhealba Oats. It’s a non-edible oat that is white, therefore no need to bleach it. They actually use the plantlets of the oat, young stems that pack a maximum benefits without any proteins this means that even those allergic to gluten can use the products safely too. They are for dry and eczema-prone skin, which is what I have. There are many different forms atopic dermatitis(eczema) and I’ve battled bouts of it in the past and thought I’d never see it again. But, it can come back and hit ya’ harder than ever before. And that’s what happened to me.

As beauty junkies, we’re no strangers to cleansing oils. Most of us use them to remove our makeup. I use them too, but not all the time as I find they can start to clog up my pores. If I use one I double cleanse, meaning I’ll wash my face again with a gentle cleanser to make sure that film of oil is gone. And I’m telling ya, double cleansing when your skin is irritated is NOT a good idea. So, I had ditched my cleansing oils even though they’re really great at removing makeup.

But not anymore! I’ve found the PERFECT cleansing oil! A-Derma Exomega Emollient Cleansing Oil is my favourite skincare find of the year! It’s perfect for dry to very dry and eczema-prone skin, and made for everyone-babies to adults. You can use it on your face AND your body, that’s how gentle it is. It contains ingredients to help soothe and calm skin while gently cleansing it.

Rhealba Oat Seedling Extract → Helps to reduce inflammation and soothes the skin

Gentle cleansing base (pH 5.5) → Gently cleanses the skin

Filaxerine and omega-6 (essential fatty acids) → Helps to restore the skin’s natural protective barrier

Glycerin → Hydrates

A-Derma Exomega Emollient Cleansing Oil

I use A-Derma Exomega Emollient Cleansing Oil in the evening in my shower to cleanse my face. In the mornings, I use something else which I’ll talk about in another post. I just pour a tiny bit into my hands and apply to my face and start to gently massage it in using barely warm water. Hot water is a big no-no if your skin is easily irritated and that includes showers. NEVER take hot showers. What’s so cool about A-Derma Exomega Emollient Cleansing Oil is that it lathers. It doesn’t just turn into a milky liquid, it actually foams up a little bit! But it cleans my skin so well and so gently, and doesn’t leave an annoying film of grease on my face. And no breakouts either! My face feels calmed, soothed, smooth, moisturized and CLEAN. I love it. LOVE it. It will forever live in my shower from now on that’s for sure!

If you have skin that’s easily irritated like mine, then I highly recommend  A-Derma Exomega Emollient Cleansing Oil. With winter coming up, this cleanser will be perfect! You can find  A-Derma Exomega products at Shopper’s Drug Marts across the country.

This product has helped my skin out so much, as have all of the products I’ve been testing. I barely have any redness in my face anymore. What products have you recently used that have made you say HEY! WOW! What a difference!

*products sent by the lovely PR for review, thoughts are mine as always!

So glad this works for you! I had no idea A-Derma was from Avene. We have opposite skins, so I don’t know what that kind of severely dry irritated skin feels like, but it sounds painful. Sorry to hear of menopause woes as well. Are you taking anything to help with the fluctuations or just riding it through? 🙁

    • Yeah, I didn’t know either until they contacted me! Such good stuff.
I’m riding it through so far, but UGGGH. I don’t know. If the hot flashes get worse I might cave and ask for something. But it’s a scary thought, ya know?

  • Hey Tracy, so sorry to hear about your skin woes! I’m glad you’ve found products that help you keep it in check. I see this brand everywhere here, but I haven’t tried anything from it at all. My skincare discovery of the year is Verso. I have found great products this year, but Verso has made such a significant difference that it blows everything else out of the water 🙂

    • It’s been here for a bit, but I think nobody knows about it!
That Verso stuff you reviewed sounds SO good, but my skin for sure can’t handle it. I have to treat my face like a baby’s I guess LOL!

  • I’m glad to hear you’ve found something that is effective AND comforting for your skin, Tracy! I am a huge fan of Avene, but did not know about A-Derma. It sounds really awesome! I sure hope I can find where I live. 😉

    • Thanks Lena! I hope you can! if not and you really want to try something I’d be happy to help you out!

  • I have never heard of this range! It sounds fabulous! I’ll have to do some digging. I’m glad it sorted things out for you – skincare problems are so frustrating! It’s like, WTF. And then tied to all sort of hormonal things…that’s just unfair, haha. I hope it all calms down for you soon!

  • Aw, that was so kind of them to reach out to you! I’m so happy this product has been a Godsend for you because frankly, you needed something GOOD that actually worked to help your skin. I love Avene. <3 Might have to try this oil! And I'm so sorry about the menopause woes. The fun of being a lady never seems to end, amiright?! Hang in there, lady love!

    • I’m trying to hang in! The hot flashes wake me up about 5 times at night. It’s a good think I don’t work because I’d be a walking zombie I tell you.

  • Lily

Sounds awesome, Tracy! I have a few cleansing oils that work on me and I’m thankful they don’t break me out or clog my pores. I also like to alternate oils with balms – don’t know what I’d do otherwise. I don’t really like micellar water much 😛

  • Ah, how lovely of Avene to send some products your way! My skin can be super sensitive as well, so I know the relief of finding something calming and soothing. Glad this worked so wonderfully for you! xo
