Clarins Eye Quartet Mineral Palette No.13 Skin Tones From The Ladylike Fall 2014 Collection

Clarins Eye Quartet Mineral Palette No.13 Skin Tones is a typical Clarins mineral eye shadow palette. They are wet/dry eyeshadows. Use them dry and they are light in pigment and very natural. I personally don’t like using their mineral eyeshadows dry all that much to be honest. I find them a little hard to work with and rather disappointing in texture sometimes. I much prefer using them wet, as they work so much better that way. And especially with a neutral-toned palette like this. Used dry, there’s not a lot of difference in tone when you apply the shadows, but wet? Pure neutral shadow JOY.

Swatchy Time! I actually did swatch the Clarins Eye Quartet Mineral Palette No.13 Skin Tones dry over a primer, so you can see that they do have decent pigmentation used dry. And if you do use them dry, a stickier eye primer like a MAC Paint Pot works better fyi.

A ladylike, natural eyeshadow look is really easy to do with the Clarins Eye Quartet Mineral Palette No.13 Skin Tones. And I did do a simple one for you, using the eyeshadows dry. Very ladylike and great for every day use.

But I’m Tracy. And I don’t really do ladylike looks all that much. Give me a neutral palette, and I tend to go in the opposite direction of ladylike and look like I’m a grungy Nirvana video extra. Oh, and I did use the eyeshadows wet, because I think that adds to the grunge look. And man, that taupe just shines when you use it wet! Look at how amazing it looks blown out on my bottom lash line.

Whaddaya’ think? Does this neutral eye palette offering appeal to you? Or is it just another neutral palette lost in the sea of Nakeds and Neutrals that have flooded the market thanks to Urban Decay?

*product sent by the lovely PR for review, thoughts are mine as always!

  • Hey Tracy, I like the idea, but by now I need a neutral quad to REALLY speak to me to want it, and I’m afraid this one doesn’t cut it. It looks very pretty on you though! The second look is just the right amount of smokey 🙂

    • Yeah I hear ya Sunny! I’m the same. But now this palette has sparked some kind of neutral love in me. I just bought some Inglot neutrals today!

  • HOLY AMAZEBALLS, Tracy. That taupe is flipping gorgeous!!! And I mean, ugh. Ugh! That whole palette!

  • rachlovespenguins

Oh that’s pretty! But I know I’m jaded with neutral palettes when my first reaction was “lovely colours, but why on earth would they put the pans in there like that, with that awkward little bit of offset negative space in the middle?!?” *shakes head at self* hahaha

  • UGH, TRACY LASHES. I WANTS THEM. *GRABBY HANDS*

  • I’m with Larie. Those Tracy lashes! They often steal the show, know? 😉
I used to love blue and purple more, but I’m very much into neutrals lately. The palette looks like a nice staple!

  • Oh no, not another neutral quad. Must turn away!

  • Life is too darn short for anymore neutrals without some pop of color. I like them when used wet though, it is a pretty look!

    • I kind of agree! But lately, I’m liking simple. I think I’m sick LOL! Normal Tracy would at least use a bright blue liner on the waterline haha!

  • That is one taupeliciously blown out lower lash line! I could wear that look for a week straight and not get tired of it! LOVES IT!

  • Pretty shades, but I really wanna know what mascara you’re using here! :p

  • Emma Bovary

That looks really pretty but I agree with you re: the sheer quality of the shades dry. I need to pull out my Clarins palettes and try them with a wet brush!

  • Nice, right? xo

  • Lily

No matter how pretty colours are, I’m still a neutral fiend 🙂 That said, I have so many, I don’t need moar. Too bad it’s sheer, but looks great when worn wet!

  • This appeals to my taupe loving heart! Never tried a Clarins eyeshadow. I just ordered the naked 2 basics as the shades looked interesting but even I am fed up of the naked UD concept!

  • What a gorgeous palette! Love that you can wear it softer or smoke things up a bit. The smudgy look you created with it is amazing- I’d do the same to rebel against the elegance a bit 😉

  • That looks good on you, funny how ‘neutrals’ always return in fall.

  • Liz

Love the way you grunged it up! I was just sitting here staring at the quad thinking, ‘It’s TOO ladylike.’ 🙂

  • oooh that dark brown is so luscious! I love a neutral palette and would totes splurge since I wear these colors almost every single day!

  • I am rediscovering the neutrals lately, still loving my brights though. ok, I love all the colours haha. clarins has some nice finishes in their quads. I like the shades on you a lot, also I wouldn’t call myself ladylike … this palette looks yum haha! xxx

  • Toya

I like the look of this palette – in fact, I’m really liking how most of the products in the Clarins fall launch look (for once – I often pass over the brand) – but even though I don’t really own a true ‘neutral’ palette, I never really feel the urge to buy one, either. Strange, I know. But – the second eye look you have going on here is making me think I should get one and grunge it up like you have. THAT’S my kind of eye look, too!

  • Thanks! I had to make it more interesting! Glad it worked!

  • I’m so glad to hear this is in the permanent line because it looks beautiful – and I don’t have to trip over myself in a rush to get it before it sells out! Love the grunge look on you too babe! 😉

  • Kristi C.

It doesn’t matter how many neutrals I have, my heart still skips a beat every time I see a gorgeous palette like this one! Indeed loving the grunge look on you!
