Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée Pink Escape

So after falling one love with Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Eye Shadow Rio De Rose Gold, I decided to order a mini Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée in Pink Escape. I figured for $15 it was worth giving a shot. I mean, you know-Blush Fiend and all. It’s like my job, right? TEST ALL THE BLUSH.

When Sephora sells a mini, they’re not joking people. Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée is TINY.

Like REALLY TINY. Like so tiny that it’s hard to even get your finger in the jar tiny. I hope you can see the texture is solid. But if you put your finger in it, it instantly kind of melts. COOL.Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée.jpg

But I didn’t like the thought of jamming my finger into the pot because I could just see the stuff getting caught under my nails. And who needs that kind of messy blush business, right? BLUSH BELONGS ON THE CHEEKZ NOT UNDER NAILS. Luckily I have a MAC 188 Small Duo Fibre Brush that’s perfect for this kind of teeny, tiny blush. And by this kind of blush, I mean a gel stain. Because that’s what it is! I wouldn’t call this a cream blush at all. You can see what I mean by the Swatchy Time!

Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée gives a sheer wash of colour, with a translucent sheen. It’s not sticky at all though like some gel stains can be. Since it’s made with 50% pure coconut water, it’s cooling and hydrating. And feels GOOD.

Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée is really pigmented too! I dip my brush in and dab onto my hand before heading to the cheeks otherwise hello crazy lady blushed cheeks! It’s a buildable, blendable blush that you can quite easily overdo. If it looks like too much blush, then I just go over my cheeks a bit with my beauty blender that I used for my foundation and that fixes it right up.

But I have to say, I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. It looks so natural! And man, it lasts all day long, and yup-even stains your cheeks a bit which I love. I like it better than the Becca Beach Tints and the Benefit Cheek Stains. Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelée in Pink Escape is the best cheek stain I’ve tried and yup! I’ll be getting another one! The one called Honeymoon Honey is a brown one, and that sounds like nothing I have in my collection that’s for sure! Must try!

I was so late hopping on the blush train for this one and now regret it totally! Have you tried one of these? What shade?

  • Liz

This one is perfect on you! I keep looking at them because they’re so cute and fun, but I already have a sheer staining red. And many many more blushes, lol. They recently came out with some more berry shades, so maybe that will set off the BSS when I see them in the stores. 🙂

    • Thanks, they are so worth the $15 small size! I really want to get the brown one next and will for sure!

  • Hey Tracy, I wasn’t sure how pigmented it would be from the swatch, but on your cheeks I can see it can be properly built up! Very pretty shade! That pot IS ridiculously tiny, but sometimes I wish all companies would just make smaller portions so we can own several shades for cheap 😉

  • Ooooh I saw the mini one too and was curious to see how small it would end up being, so thank you, haha! I want to try the brown one, too. I wish they all came in tiny sizes, lol, so then I could have all of them… 😛

    • This is fantastic! I wish it was a warmer pink, because I have to be so careful with not applying too much otherwise I look like I’m sick haha. Bronzer is needed to tame down the bright pink that’s for sure! And yeah-maybe tiny is better!

  • I have this one too! (Wait…crap…maybe it’s a different color………………….. blogger fail.) I really want to try more of the Josie Maran line. Have you given the Bohemian Waves spray a try? Liz reviewed it awhile back and I bought it, but never really gave it a go. I pulled it out again last week and was sooo happy with my hair that day. Just scrolled back up to your glowy cheeks. Such a fantastic color and finish!

    • Hahaha me too! No i haven’t tried it yet-but I will now! I don’t blow dry my hair at all anymore, so it sound so perfect for me! And thanks! What shade so you have?

      • It turns out I have Poppy Paradise. For non-blowdry hair: Yes to Coconut Curl Defining Hair Smoother + Josie Maran Bohemian whatever it is = awesome hair!

      • OK DUDE!! I’m SO getting it tonight at the VIB Rouge thingy tonight! That and one more of these! I’ll check out Poppy Paradise too.

  • First, you are just too cute for words. I just love the pic of you above! Next, I think I need this blushie.

    • LOL hahaha thanks! :D:D You are da best my friend! And this shade on you? Would look SO GOOD.

  • This blush looking amazing on you Tracy! Surprisingly, I haven’t tried anything by Josie Maran yet but since I’ve added this to my shopping list, that will be changing pretty soon 😛

    • Thanks Kelly! Oh, dude-this brand has been kicking ass lately! This and those eye shadows are AMAZING. I hope you like it as much as I do!

  • I tend to skip blush most days because I feel when I add it on, it makes me look rather muddy… how does every blush manage to look amazing on you? lol

    • LOL hahaha thanks! xo You just need to find the right shade! I’ll get you into blush if you keep reading hahaha! I do it to everybody! 😀

  • Wow, another amazing blush shade on you! So pretty. <3
I wish the jar was a little bigger and flatter, but I would still be happy to get minis. 🙂

  • what a cute tiny jar! Never tried any of her blushes but it looks pretty on you!

  • Beautiful shade on you!! I kinda like the idea of being able to buy tiny versions of blushers (or any makeup), keeps it in the realm of possibly finishing it up!

  • Love the way this looks on you!! I have it in poppy paradise, but honestly, it is so pigmented I will never get through all of it so I wish I had a tinier version like this one!! I love it though and reach for it when I want no-fuss

  • Lily

OMG those cheeks!!!!!!!! I love love love this on you too!!!!!! I mean, that size, erm, very tiny, but that shade!! I need to check this out. Hope they have it at Sephora here 🙂

  • Beautiful colour!

  • Meg

So pretty! I saw the mini one at Sephora and wasn’t sure if I should pick it up! Definitely going back to pick it up now!

  • Toya

HAHA! BLUSH FIENDS THINK ALIKE! I just bought this mini a couple weeks ago too, Tracy! I’m loving the formula, but I’m not as sold on the colour for my cheekz, I think it makes me look a bit feverish. I have trouble with reddish blush in general though. It looks beautifully natural on you! I was thinking about that Honeymoon Honey too – you go buy it and swatch it and then I’ll decide, mmmkay? 😀

    • Awww, that’s too bad! But I know what you mean. If I put on too much I have the same prob. It’s the shade. And you know it. I bought the Honeymoon Honey, so gonna test it out! I’ll let ya’ know!

  • I’ve never tried one of these b/c coconut derivatives + makeup typically equals disaster on my oily mug. You look GORGEOUS wearing this, good gravy boats!! I mean, HELLO DOLLY! 😀

    • Hahaha thanks! I think it would work for you though! It kind of dries down, yet looks sheeny!

  • What a gorgeous, natural flush! The shade and texture both seem perfect- I hadn’t been too tempted by these until now 🙂

  • I tried these out and I LOOOOOVE them!!!

  • Emma Bovary

Oh this sounds really cool – I am like urgh with sheer cheek products but I still really want to try this out. So mini, I would need to buy a new brush with it and all

  • dowantmakeup

So pretty! Between you and Liz, I get so many blush cravings ahhh. I definitely need to take a closer look at these next time I’m at Sephora.
