Launching at a drugstore near you this month are the new L’Oreal Pop Balm lipsticks ($9.99). There are 4 shades, and I have Wild Lily to show you.
L’Oreal Pop Balm Wild Lily is a neon pink in the tube. Kind of a scary pink, actually. I love pinks, but neon pink is something that’s a little…80s. Even for me hahaha! But make neon pink a sheer, glossy lipstick and it’s not so scary. I promise!
See? That’s a totally wearable pink now. It’s more of a Barbie pink which is wearable, for some people at least haha! Like me! It almost matches my hair actually, so I can get away with it. And so can you, especially in the summer. Brights like this are perfect for summer wear.
L’Oreal Pop Balm in Wild Lily swatches a tad warmer than it appears on the lips. On my lips it turns cooler, and you can see the lavender tones in it.
L’Oreal Pop Balms apparently have moisturizing oils in them to make your lips feel good! And that they do L’Oreal, that they do. Just wish the info sheet I got actually told me what those oils are??? What I do know is that these L’Oreal Pop Balms are supposed to have more pigment than the Colour Riche Balms. Now I’ve never tried a Colour Riche Balm to tell you if that’s true, so we’ll just have to assume that info is correct. L’Oreal Pop Balms have a LOT of slip, yet they do stay put and don’t travel beyond my lip line thank goodness. The older I get, the more frightened of slippery lipsticks I get. It’s a real fear I tell you. One day I’ll be walking around and not notice that my lipstick is on my CHIN. It’ll happen, I just know it.
L’Oreal Pop Balm lipsticks feel like a lip balm and you can build up the colour with a few layers. Make sure lips are exfoliated before hand, otherwise the slippery, balmy texture will emphasize that stuff.
I like L’Oreal Pop Balm Wild Lily. It’s a great throw-in-your-purse-lipstick-don’t-need-a-mirror-bright-fun-summer-sun-shade. These are great if opaque, bright lipsticks scare you. Kind of like trainer-bright lipsticks if you will. If you’re a fan of Revlon Lip Butters or Maybelline Whisper lipsticks, then you’ll adore these too. Look for Wild Lily and the other three shades Bold Blush, Fiery Red, and Electric Pink at your drugstores. Hmmm, the name Electric Pink implies an ever brighter shade of pink than Wild Lily, hey? I gotta see that one now!
There’s a lot of sheer lipstick formulas out there now! I actually think that these are quite comparable in feeling to Dior Addicts, except those are just a tad better imo. If L’Oreal Pop Balms didn’t emphasize dryness, then I’d call them dupes for Dior Addicts. Close! But not quite!
Who makes your favourite sheer lipstick formula?
*product sent by the lovely PR for review, sheer lipstick formula love is mine! As is my love for Barbie Pink lipstick.
