The Adorable Mary Kay At Play Triple Layer Tinted Balms

Mary Kay At Play Triple Layer Tinted Balms($12) are another new product for the Mary Kay At Play Summer 2014 Collection. I love how they keep coming out with affordable, great makeup options every season! They keep surprising me to be honest! I keep thinking, what ELSE can Mary Kay come out with that’s great quality, yet only costs $12? Lip Balms! That’s what!

Mary Kay At Play Triple Layer Tinted Balms have 3 layers of colour like the name says. The outer layer is the pigmented portion of the lip balm. The middle layer is a pretty dead ringer for Radiant Orchid and is more of a lip balm jelly texture that adds brightness to each shade. The middle is just white, and I think it’s just the lip balm on its own, un-tinted. It could be an extra dose of moisture, but don’t quote me on that one! There’s a bit of Titanium Dioxide in the ingredients list, so there’s a hint of sun protection too. Just a hint, but hey-I’ll take it! They are a petrolatum-based lip balm, and for me that’s cool. It works to keep my lips feeling good so I don’t mind the ingredient. What is amazing to me, is that when you swatch them, the colour is consistent and not patchy at all like other layered lip balms I’ve tried(talking to you Clarins and those Jelly lip balm things that are ridiculously overpriced and patchy and…can you tell I’m not a fan of them LOL).

Triple Layer Swatchy Time!

They swatch sheer, but a couple of swipes gives you pretty decent pigmentation. At least you can see the colour on your lips, and to me that’s what really matters when it comes to tinted lip balms. I hate when I can’t see any colour on my lips, because what’s the point then, right? The Mary Kay At Play Triple Layer Tinted Balms aren’t like that at all, so YAY! Take a  look!

The almost have a soft, milky appearance to them which I like! Mary Kay calls it a glow, and sure ok, I can sorta’ see it-but it’s a soft, muted glow that’s seriously pretty. It’s pretty unique of a finish in my vast stash of lip balms I tell ya, and I dig it. A LOT. Mary Kay At Play Triple Layer Tinted Balms glide on smoothly with no tugging on the lips at all. They’re pretty foolproof in application, and you don’t need a mirror for these pretty babies! And that is like a must for me when it comes to tinted lip balms. I think of them as fuss-free, throw-in-my-purse-don’t need-a-mirror-to-look-good summertime product. And these are exactly that!

The silky, creamy texture and the milky look have me addicted! Not to mention how good they make my lips feel. You can see how moisturized they look in the pictures. They look almost line-less for once! Alas, the staying power is an hour, but it’s a lip balm and I don’t expect much longer of a wear time than that at all. I can just pull it out, and reapply to my heart’s content no matter where I am! And the more I apply, the BETTER my lips feel. Love, love, LOVE.

You can order Mary Kay At Play Triple Layer Tinted Balms from your local Mary Kay Rep, or order online at www.marykay.ca.

Yup, I’ll admit it. In the summer, I’m more of a lip balm gal. It’s just easier, ya know? What about you? What do you prefer for summertime lips? Lip balms? Lip Gloss? Or are you a hardcore lipstick lover?

*product sent by the lovely PR, thoughts are mine as always! As is my growing love for Mary Kay. Seriously, if you haven’t listened to me and tried something from them yet-you are MISSING OUT MY FRIEND.

Orange Lovely looks great and pigmented lipbalms are generally awesome! I’m a die hard lipstick lover, winter or summer!

  • Orange You Lovely and Atomic Red are my favorites here! I seldom wear tinted lip balms, because I don’t usually need a balm during daytime. I prefer slightly translucent and glossy formulas in summer, like Guerlain Rouge Automatique and Dior Addict Extreme. Although just to be honest, I wear those two all year round.

  • i agree. balms in the summer. extra points if the have spf in it!
(jealous of your lip swatches. couldn’t get mine to turn out so gave up )

In The Plum looks good on the lips! But I just don’t like those balms with the white inner part stuff… triggers a weird OCD. LOL

  • Very interesting!
For some reason, I knew the plum color would look soft and pretty like that. I want it! ;D

Gloss or balm for day and I still have to have my lipstick for evening if I go anywhere. I got to try these out the other day and I am really impressed!

  • You will be shocked when I tell you I have never used any Mary Kay products. I know!! These make me tempted! I love a tinted balm, especially for summer. I like convenient easy to use products during the summer.

    • Me too, summer is all about easy living! You should order something! There are some new lipsticks that are pretty fantastic, but that’s next week I’ll show them!

  • Love how In the Plum looks black in the bullet! These look stunning on your lips, particularly love Atomic Red on you.

  • I like the orange one the best. 😀

  • Thank you!
