After the NARS Matte Multiple Fiasco(as it’s called in my house), I kind of have been giving NARS the MINI evil eye. Not the FULL ON evil eye(that’s reserved for other brands like–hmmm off the top of my head I’d have to say Benefit to be honest-not much I like in that brand), but the mini evil eye. Baby evil eye you might call it. The mini eye of distrust. I can’t give NARS the full evil version, because I do like their blushes. A LOT. In fact, if you were to ask me what one blush I could live with for the rest of this hypothetical forbidden-to-get-any-more-blush- nightmare, I’d have to say Deep Throat. Every time I wear that blush I think-WHY DON’T I JUST WEAR THIS BLUSH FOREVER? And I could. If I really had too. Hypothetically speaking.
But Marky has no Evil Eye, mini or full, aimed at any brand. Ahh, remember those days? Those un-jaded makeup days? It’s like a hazy dream for me hahaha! One of our favourite SAs works for NARS, so when we see her we always visit. And when she showed Marky the new NARS Contour in Palamino, she was skeptical as was I. She’s paler than pale my daughter. So pale she can’t find a foundation match at the moment in ANY brand pale. But when it was applied to her cheeks and didn’t look dirty or muddy? Marky paid for it right there and then.
And so, I borrowed it. Because I’m a Beauty Blogger. And because I can. Until August 2014 at least. After that, there’s no more makeup sharing with that pale redhead happening at Beauty Reflections. SNIFF. I’M GOING TO MISS THAT YOU GUYS. SO SO MUCH.
Sad swatchy time!
Nice huh? The highlight is matte, so it kind of swatches powdery, but on the cheeks it blends beautifully. The contour shade is warmer than I tend to like, but you know what? It works. Especially as the weather warms up. It’s a nice option to have if you’re pale and can’t find a bronzer that works for you, like Marky. It’s close to matte as well. More of a satin matte maybe, but on the cheeks it reads matte.
Here’s how nice and subtle it looks on my face. I’m just wearing foundation and concealer, plus NARS Olympia Contour Blush. That’s it. Both shades blend beautifully into the skin. It lasts well too-I got a good 8 hours of wear before it started to fade.
I like it! And dang it, I maybe have to buy one for myself now, because this one will be moving to California in a few months. Along with my baby. [emoji worried face]
Well done NARS, well done. I’m liking how you keep me guessing. Keeps it fresh between us.
As you are reading this we are in fact on a plane flying to California to visit Marky’s college CalArts! It’s accepted students day on Saturday, and we had those Air Canada vouchers to use up from our last trip, so we thought why not? FREE TRIP to California! And that means DISNEYLAND again, because you know I can’t possibly go all the way to California without visiting my happy place! It’s mandatory in my books!
What’s your favourite contour? To be honest, I still prefer my Illamasqua Hollow Pigment or Heroine Eyeshadow as they’re cooler toned and more believable if I’m really going to contour. NARS Olympia Contour Blush for me is a great, subtle bronzer!
*again, nothing to disclose here because this was bought by Marky. But here’s that monkey for you to look at again. [emoji monkey face] I’m officially calling him FRANCOIS, the NARS monkey from now on.
