The hubby was in LA this past weekend working(I know I should have gone too), so the kind man stopped in at Macy’s to feed my pink lipstick obsession. Chanel Spring 2014 isn’t here yet in Canada(at least in my part), which I get WHY, because spring is just a dream at this time of year. But it still kind of bothers me that we have to wait another month for spring 2014 beauty compared to the USA. Like it doesn’t snow in the States too? Unless you’re living down, down south, NOBODY above the 35th parallel North is experiencing spring right now. Whatever. I just wish cosmetics companies didn’t feel the need to jump the gun on seasons so much. Just for once I’d love to be lemming for spring beauty WHEN IT’S ACTUALLY SPRING, YA’ KNOW?
I’m not a huge Chanel makeup fan to be honest, but I do have a soft spot for their lipsticks. And blushes of course-but you probably guessed that one, right?
Chanel La Diva Rouge Allure Velvet #44 is a cool-toned fuchsia pink. I thought my Shiseido Perfect Rouge Lipstick Rs448 Sensation was pink. Chanel La Diva is even PINKER.
Here they are swatched next to each other for comparison:
The Shiseido one is more yellow toned, and more moisturizing obviously. Chanel La Diva is more blue-based and cooler, and it’s matte. But not a complete matte, more of a satin matte at first. It becomes more matte as it wears.
I have one other Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet and I do like this formula, however I do find lips have to be exfoliated before application, otherwise the lipstick will catch on any extra lip skin. It’s a matte lipstick and they need some prepping. Most mattes do.
PINK. SO PINK. But I love it. Like THAT’S a surprise!
And because somebody will always ask me what mascara I’m wearing, it’s the Sephora Upside Down Mascara I reviewed a couple of days ago. Nice from far away, hey?
Chanel La Diva Rouge Allure Velvet #44 lasts a good 5 hours on my lips before fading and it fades ever so gently. It’s pretty comfortable the whole time too. I do like to prep my lips with a lip balm before hand just to give them some moisture before hand.
I’m just going to warn you all right now that this pink thing I’ve got a hankering for probably won’t be ending anytime soon. Sorry! In other news, I’m getting my hair cut and coloured next week. It’s so LONG again and I’ve been far too lazy to blow dry it straight. When I exercise every day, it’s such a chore to style hair! Kind of glad I have curly hair to be honest, as I can skip that step if I want to. Although, I do think I look younger with straighter hair. BUT I was thinking of adding another colour into the pink hair mix! What should I add? Purple? Teal? Navy? I don’t know! Let me know what you think!
So, yay or nay to pink matte lips? What’s your favourite matte lipstick formula? To be honest, I’d have to say MAC believe it or not. I really love MAC’s matte lipsticks, especially when they’re Viva Glam. So comfy.
