Shiseido Eye Color Bar Eyeshadow Palette

I picked up the Shiseido Eye Color Bar Eyeshadow Palette($58 CDN) when I was in California last month at Macy’s. I paid $50 USD, but it’s on sale right now at Nordstroms for $45 USD if you’re still interested in it! Do I think it’s worth getting? Well, that depends on a few things which I’ll get into, but first let’s take a look at this beauty!

The palette is housed in a cardboard container and is quite slim and easy to slip into your purse’s makeup bag, or even to travel with:

Shiseido Eye Color Bar Eyeshadow Palette

The Shiseido Eye Color Bar Eyeshadow Palette has 9 shadow shades created for the holidays by makeup artist Dick Page. What makes it different from other eye palettes, is that it has 7 colours and 2 transformative shades with polarized pearls that allow you to create customized colors and textures by layering them. You know how I said the Laura Mercier Artist’s Palette makes you feel like a true makeup artist because you can keep blending and combining shades? Well, the Shiseido Eye Color Bar Eyeshadow Palette is kind of the same dealio, just with more colour.

Swatchy Time! Some of the shades have a satin finish, some are almost matte looking(the 2 browns are like that) but still have a sheen to them, while the two magic shades are more metallic.

Soda, Cassis, Menthe

The shades Champagne and Soda are the 2 transformative shades with polarized pearls, or as I call them the magic colours. Soda is especially gorgeous as it has some pink pearl in it, while Champagne is a gorgeous pale gold all on its own.

Now Swatchy Time with the magic colours! Some shades I used Champagne, some I used Soda. Just click to enlarge, and you can see the pretty shades so much easier:

Champagne mixed with Licorice is kind of amazing! I also mixed Cassis, the red wine shade with some Curaçao and then some of the magic Soda shade to get that plum shade you see. That’s the fun part about the Shiseido Eye Color Bar-mixing the shades together and creating custom colours, just like a makeup artist does. SO MUCH FUN I TELL YOU.

Here’s a few eye looks I created while testing out the palette.

These two looks are just the shades by themselves, as I wanted to show you that even though the eyeshadows seem sheer, you really can build them up in intensity quite easily. They blend out so nicely too.

Greens are not my favourite shades to wear, but combining the shade Menthe with Champagne gives you the lightest most ethereal green you’ve ever seen. This is how I like green eyeshadows-barely there with a hint of colour! So much easier to wear! I don’t feel like a Christmas Elf finally! Not that I could EVER be mistaken for a Christmas Elf with my size 10s haha!

Mixing the shade Licorice with Champagne gives you a golden black shade that’s perfect for a smoky eye. I also mixed Soda with Parfait Amour on my bottom lash line and loved the effect it gave:

So, what do I think of the Shiseido Eye Color Bar Eyeshadow Palette? I personally LOVE it. I’m so very happy that I picked it up because I’m a huge fan of Dick Page, and lately of Shiseido as well. I’m really appreciating the refined quality their makeup has, especially as I age. I love wearing colour as you know, but with getting older and the crazy pink hair, it’s getting harder to do that without looking like a crazy lady. The Shiseido Eye Color Bar Eyeshadow Palette allows me to wear colour full on if I wish, or more subdued by mixing the bright shades with the magic colour shades.

If the Shiseido Eye Color Bar Eyeshadow Palette appeals to your inner makeup artist too, then you can pick it up wherever Shiseido is sold here in Canada which is The Bay, Sears, and I’ve even seen it at Shoppers Drug Mart as well. And like I said, it’s on sale at Nordstroms right now too.

With the addition of the Shiseido Eye Color Bar Eyeshadow Palette, I think I’m finally eyeshadowed to the MAX baby. Unless there’s a colour I’ve never seen before or, if it’s a formula that’s going to change my life, I won’t be buying anymore eyeshadows for a LONG LONG time. I might even call it an eyeshadow ban for next year, but you know I kind of hate saying I’m going to ban something because as soon as I do that, it makes my brain go: OH REALLY. THAT’S WHAT YOU THINK LADY and  then I want to buy everything in sight. Right now, I’m just going to say I’m quite happy with what I got and don’t need NUTHIN’, not even another UD Naked palette.

One more week until Christmas!! I went and bought my baking supplies and tomorrow I’ll be baking some cookies! First up are some Nanaimo Bars-you can’t have Christmas in Canada without Nanaimo Bars, right? What are some of your favourite Christmas cookies?

Beautiful!! Here, it goes for RM180 and we can only purchase it if we purchased something of RM250 value. And I’m not going to spend so much more just to get that palette. So I passed. Looks gorgeous though! So, that’s really too bad :-(

    • TracyBeautyReflections

WOW now that’s just NUTS. If you want one for reals, I’ll get it for you.

  • http://www.lenallure.com/ Lena L

I am with you. I wouldn’t need a NAKED palette if I have this. I love that this one has all the brights and neutrals and they can connect and create something new very easily.
I think I’ve said this before, but I am done with crazy pigmented chalky thick mess in eyeshadow texture. I can just tell these colors are really high quality.
Love all the looks you created! :)

    • TracyBeautyReflections

I am so with you Lena! I just don’t have to the time to work with crazy pigmentation. I like to build up colour MY way, and these do that perfectly! Thanks! The palette make it so easy.

  • http://eyeheartit.blogspot.com Larie

EEEEEK SO PRETTY. I’m getting one. I really love the versatility of it!

And dude. I know. Eye shadows up to HERE.

AND COOKIES. I haven’t really been in a baking mood lately, actually. And I hate making cookies because they’re so fussy and involved. But I like eating cookies, LOL. Gingersnaps! And the powdery almond cookies. Sugar cookies, too…hahahaha.

    • TracyBeautyReflections

Yep dude. Our first instincts were so right. :D
Right? SO DONE. No more comes in this house if I can help it LOL.
Yeah, if you have to roll them out I don’t like these cookies. TOO MUCH WORK. But drop ones? LOVE.

  • http://www.mywomenstuff.com/ Paris B

It looks really nice! I was very tempted but I do tend to be a little allergic to Shiseido eyeshadows so I didn’t dare take the risk. I did see it in person though and man, was I tempted or what?! :P

    • TracyBeautyReflections

Aww, that sucks! But best to be careful!

  • rachlovespenguins

Pretty pretty pretty! I love the Soda colour!! I’m sure I’ve been eyeshadowed to the max for ages but the inner magpie always wins out (OOOOOHHHH SHINY!!!) and this year I wound up with a couple more palettes and a decent handful of singles. Clearly I have issues. Shimmery, shiny, pretty, sparkly issues. LOL

    • TracyBeautyReflections

Haha my hubby calls it crow syndrome-all things shiny LOVE haha!

  • http://makeupmorsels.wordpress.com Makeup Morsels

SO PURTY. I love Dick Page and Shiseido as well. Also, THAT BLUE. Ok no more caps. I think I have to pass on this one only because I own a Sonia Kashuk palette that’s similar in color scheme (just more jewel-toned than bright). But oh man it is a beauty. My favorite Christmas cookies are The Pioneer Woman’s brown sugar oatmeal cookies. You cannot possibly dislike them. They are heavenly (and they should be, with the amount of butter that goes into them).

    • TracyBeautyReflections

LOL hahaha it’s ok. I LOVE ALL CAPS HAHA!
Ok-gonna look that one up for sure! They sound yummy!

  • http://mostlysunnyblog.com/ Sunny @Mostly Sunny

Ahh that second row is calling my name! I never reach for palettes anymore, let alone such a colorful one, so I’ll probably pass. That shade in the middle totally stole my heart though!

No Christmas cookies here! I don’t think it’s that big of a tradition here, but maybe I’m just not aware of it? I do plan to grab some good chocolate later today though. I’ve been working very hard, and it feels like I deserve a treat LOL

    • TracyBeautyReflections

:D:D you neutral lover you haha!
      YES. You do deserve it!

  • http://theblogofworldlydelights.blogspot.com/ laura

Eye shadowed to the max! I love it!!! I was walking around Nordstrom and macys over the weekend looking for a new shadow palette. I wasn’t even aware that shiseido did color like this! Now I’ll have to stop by their counter again and have a better look see!

    • TracyBeautyReflections

You’d love this one Laura! It’s a lot of fun!

  • telle

love it! you have made some really great eye looks!! Also, i love the no-buy shadows for the year! I am excited as you venture on this goal (is it okay to call it a goal?!).

Baking times! YAY! Nanaimo bars are awesomeness…my mom used to make them for christmas when we were young! i made some soft bake cookies from an awesome recipe blog i read and then my usual oatmeal cookies with festive additives (peppermint m&ms, holiday smarties, etc etc). i was lucky that my sister shared some of her maple bacon cookies that she made- those are beyond delish! happy baking Tracy! :D

    • TracyBeautyReflections

MAPLE BACON????? Ok, I need to look this up! That sounds like the best cookie in the world! :D
Good one! A goal! That’s what I’ll call it. I just can’t buy anymore-it’s NUTS.

      • telle

OMG YES YOU DO! SO DELISH!!!! Nothing like it!!!!!! :D *LOL* a goal! ;) most excellent!!! *LOL* so what exactly constitutes “NUTS”? i have two separate collections-things i havent touched yet and things i use….my havent touched yet its 1.5 towers (those plastic organizers that you can find at walmart or can tire) and a bin of lippie/drugstore product. my in use is two towers plus a bin of drug store things. :D

      • TracyBeautyReflections

HAHAHA you know, I’m not sure what the limit on the NUTS part is. I think it’s different for all of us! I just know, I’ve got LOADS.

      • telle

maybe we should sing a song- i’ve got a lovely bunch of coconuts…there they are standing in a row… ;) indeed, at what point does it become too much? to be honest, i think i am getting to that point…i love my collection, i do…i will never exhaust it tho, so, its a bit wasteful. :/

  • http://beautyreductionista.blogspot.ca/ Liz

It’s so beautiful!!! I thought it was going to be bigger for some reason and was surprised when I saw it in person. How I managed to walk away, I don’t know. LOVE Shiseido makeup! And your looks are amazing.

    • TracyBeautyReflections

Thanks! Yeah it’s quite compact which I love. Easier to store!

  • http://www.glambunctious.com/ Kristen / Glambunctious

An eyeshadow ban?!? Say it ain’t so! ;) I kind of feel that way right now about blush! I’m taking a blush break, so I totally understand your shadow ban! Riddle me this, how do you get the shadow so beautifully done under your eyes on your bottom lash line? What tool do you use?! I’ve always meant to ask you this b/c it always looks so damn amazeballs! I love Licorice with Champagne, btw. That is just a 100% classic that looks SO flattering on you!

    • TracyBeautyReflections

Awww, thanks babe! I usually use the MAC 219 Pencil brush down there. I love that thing!

      • http://www.glambunctious.com/ Kristen / Glambunctious

Thank you, dahhrlink! It’s going on my to buy list FOR IMMEDIATE purchase! Muchos gracias!

      • TracyBeautyReflections

:D let me know how it goes!

  • Gaelle

Wow that custom black shade is just stunning. Never tried any shiseido make up but tempted by their trios.

    • Gaelle

Oh and I think I’m nearly there with the eyeshadow ban but the search for the ultimate taupe is hard to give up!

      • TracyBeautyReflections

Hahaha oh, I’ll never give up buying taupes either!

    • TracyBeautyReflections

      The trios are really nice!

LOL I know just what you mean Tracy – as soon as you tell yourself you can’t have something, that’s all you want! I know I just read that you’re gonna keep the colour on eyes to a minimum, but DAMN you make ‘em look good, hun!

    • TracyBeautyReflections

:D:D thanks! But yeah. I’ll be keeping colour as an accent now, so just a little bit here and there on the eyes from now on!
