Red eye shadow. You need it.
I know, I know. You’re scared of it. But trust me. If there’s one colour that will take almost any eye shadow look you’re sporting and instantly turn it into a fall look-it’s RED.
I have quite a few red eyeshadows, but these are my two faves:
That’s my Kat Von D Palette True Romance Starstruck Palette and the red is called Hermit, and Inglot Pearl 450 Eyeshadow, which as you can see has a corner nicked because DANG, getting an Inglot Eye Shadow out of it’s Freedom Palette is one of the hardest things EVER. What the hell kind of magnets do they use on those things????
They are almost the same shade, with Inglot Pearl 450 Eyeshadow being a tad redder-more wine red I’d say, while Kat Von D Hermit is lighter and warmer-more coppery. Either one of these red eyeshadows will turn pretty much ANY eyeshadow look(haven’t tried it with blue, but I bet it would work with navy!) into an instant fall look.
Let’s start easy, with a nice simple bronze eye look. Look what happens when you add just a touch of red eyeshadow onto the crease and a tiny bit on the outer lash line:
See how the red just adds that warmth? BAZINGA! INSTANT FALL. EASY!
Let’s try another one! How about a brown smokey eye? Everybody loves a brown smokey eye, right? But look at what adding some red eyeshadow to the crease and the lower lash line can do to it:
See? BAZINGA! Instant fall warmth! The red eyeshadow just brings that brown smokey eye to a whole other level of fall goodness!
So right about now you’re saying: Well, duh-sure Tracy, it works with browns. But that’s about all you can add red eyeshadow to without it looking really WEIRD.
You don’t say? Well, Let’s try purple. Everybody loves purple eyeshadow in the fall, right? Let’s see what red looks like with purple. I don’t have a lot of purples actually, but this is MAC Hepcat:
Red eyeshadow takes that purple and makes it look more burgundy! And what’s hotter and more appropriate of a fall colour than burgundy?
Here’s my FAVOURITE one: green eyeshadow baby! Oh yeah! We’re gonna add some red to a green eyeshadow look. Just take a look at the magic:
The red eye shadow added to the crease ends up looking more coppery! COOL, hey? And isn’t that the most perfect fall eye shadow combination ever?
Red eye shadow. You need it. Now. ☺
