Last week I went to Shoppers Drug Mart to replenish my Vichy Serum 10 Eye sand Lashes, and the SA gave me a cute little sample of the new Clarins Be Long Mascara. A SAMPLE. Of a MASCARA. You know how RARE that is? It’s pretty much UNHEARD of in my makeup jungles-a legend that I’ve heard, but just never thought was true because I’ve never gotten one. IT’S TRUE you guys. And I didn’t have to beg, plead, or give my left kidney for said sample.
You gotta get this mascara sample! This is going to be my next high end mascara purchase for sure, after I finally use up all the open mascaras lying around my house right now-which’ll be SUMMER 2014 I think… [emoji winking face]
Clarins Be Long Mascara($27 CDN) promises instantly longer, curled lashes thanks to a new brush design with an angle that lets you get at every last lash you have. Plus the formula is supposed to stimulate lash growth. I can’t tell you about the claims about lash growth, but I can show you what I can get my lashes to look like when I use it! Take a look!
The brush is the key to Clarins Be Long Mascara. I LOVE this brush! For one thing it’s smaller-I’m really not a huge fan of the big HUGE mascara brushes to be honest. Tracy isn’t as coordinated as she leads you to believe and has poked her eye MANY times with huge mascara brushes. Phew-that feels good to get that off my chest! I don’t know WHO they’re making those big ass mascara brushes for to be honest. In 10,ooo years through evolution our eyes are supposed to get bigger [emoji extraterrestrial alien] , but LORDY let’s make brushes for the 21 Century please and thank you? Sigh.
I think a smaller brush does a much better job at mascara application because you can really get into the roots of your lashes to get great volume and length. Clarins Be Long Mascara has a supple, flexible elastomer brush that was specially designed in a turbine shape to grasp lashes one at a time, coat them from the root to the tip then gently curve them while also promoting visibly longer lashes.
The Clarins Be Long Mascara formula includes carnauba wax and filmogenic polymers that not only set the mascara’s really black (or brown) colour, but they also coat each lash for instant, visibly longer looking results and lashes that are perfectly shaped. I gotta say YUP! I love the definition this mascara gives, and I feel like it makes me look like I have 1000 eyelashes on each eye! Theres also a combination of two active ingredients: Matrikine, a peptide that enhances lash growth day after day and Panthenol, which helps strengthen lashes. Time will tell if my lashes will get longer and stronger, but honestly the Vichy Serum has already been doing a great job of that!
It’s not too dry and not to0 wet of a formula-just the way I like it! It does seem to take awhile to dry though, so be careful of that. I experienced no smudging, but a tiny bit of flaking while wearing it. Yeah, it’s a bit pricy [emoji money bag] -but I say go ask your local Shoppers Drug Mart SA for a sample. I KNOW THEY HAVE THEM.
I swear to god SAs hold out on samples. From now on, I am asking if there’s a sample when I’m interested in trying out anything. I mean, seriously-the point of the samples is to hand them out to the public, not HORDE them-right? RIGHT. And it’s kind of been proven that a customer who was given a sample USUALLY comes back to buy the full-sized product. So loosen up those sample cupboards SAs!
Do you always get a sample of something before trying it? Or do you take your chances and just buy? [emoji white smiling face]
