Make Up Forever Artisan Brushes #150 and #128

MAKE UP FOR EVER is introducing seventy-six cutting-edge brushes, which is going to be the biggest brush collection available EVER. This brush collection is something else to behold,  and includes brushes that are everyday ‘must-haves’, to highly customized tools for pros to create the most intricate artistic effects.

Dany Sanz perfected each and every brush over 5 years, testing a variety of synthetic fibers that mimic the silky softness of natural hair. The Make Up Forever Artisan Brushes are manufactured by artisans from the renowned manufacturer Raphaël on the island of Mauritius, and construction of each brush involves 25 unique stages, hand-crafted by a total of 30 people from start to finish. No machine-made brushes here folks! The ferrule on each brush is made of gunmetal barrels, and the wood brush handles were created with a beveled end to make them easy to pick up and hold, and they also can be used when applying false lashes. GENIUS, hey?

The Make Up Forever Artisan Brush Collection 2013 is classified with a number system:
100s = complexion
200s = eyes
300s = lips
400s = artistic specially designed for professionals.
The range is then further categorized depending on textures or product type, and numbered to indicate the size of each brush.

What also makes Make Up Forever Artisan Brushes different from any other is the specific synthetic fiber technology that exists in different diameters and types: wavy or straight depending on the brush’s use. Straight fibers give more precise application, while wavy bristles are more splayed, so they give a lighter and freer application, and then there are combo bristles that can do just about ANYTHING.

Ok, enough talk! Let’s SEE the brushes Tracy! I was sent two Make Up Forever Artisan Brushes to show you:

#128 Straight and Wavy, #150 Wavy

These are the #128 Straight and Wavy Complexion Brush, and the #150 Wavy Complexion Brush. I guess they have names as to what they are for, but I don’t have that info or how much they will cost. But I did see Temptalia call the #128 a Precision Powder Brush and she said it was $52 USD, so I’m guessing it’ll be at least $5 more for Canadians.

Let’s look at the Make Up Forever  #150 Wavy Complexion Brush:

So remember that wavy bristles mean that the bristles are more splayed to give a lighter and freer application, and that means the #150 could apply blush, bronzer, highlighter, cream blush/bronzer/highlighter-HECK you could even use this for foundation if you wanted to! It fits really nicely under my cheekbone, so this is my new favourite contour brush! BUT it can be whatever you want it to be!

Make Up Forever #128 Straight and Wavy Complexion Brush

It took a lot to yank the Make Up Forever  #128 Straight and Wavy Complexion Brush from Marky’s hands because she couldn’t stop petting it. I swear it was purring!

Make Up Forever #128 Straight and Wavy Complexion Brush

The Make Up Forever #128 Straight and Wavy Complexion Brush is a combo bristle brush, so that means it can be used for just about anything, and can be used for more precise application or for a more diffuse one. Powders of any kind would be its best friend, and  I’ve been using this to apply my Hourglass Ambient Light powders. It would make a great brush for translucent powders to set your makeup. It also makes THE BEST bronzer brush and hits all the high points of your face, perfectly blending bronzer out to look so natural. LOVE.

The new Make Up Forever Artisan Brushes will be available to buy online at and  at MUFE Boutiques. SO much softer and better than ANY of my brushes in my collection I tell you! I know I’ll be checking out some of the eye brushes when they become available online!

Who makes your favourite make up brushes? If you were thinking of upgrading, then you HAVE to check these out!

*products sent by PR for review, get your own soft and amazing pets SOON! 🙂

P.S. My computer is at the MAC hospital for a few days, so I might not be able to get to your comments until it gets fixed. Fingers crossed it won’t cost me a kidney!

  • Liz

Hahaha! I want to pet Straight and Wavy!

I haven’t really invested a lot of money and time on nice brushes. That’s going to be remedied soon I hope. 🙂

    • TracyBeautyReflections

Yes! It’s SO SOFT. A few good brushes make a difference!

  • Hey Tracy, now I want some purring brushes LOL

I’d definitely love to check these out. I think MAC brushes aren’t what they used to be, but they do have some brushes that you don’t see everywhere. I would, for example, love it if MUFE has a 217 dupe 😉

    • TracyBeautyReflections

Me too! I hope they have a dupe of that one too!

  • 76???? holy *runs away*

I can’t even. TOO BIG. I don’t do well with so many choices, LOL. If you tell me which ones to buy, maybe that’ll work, lol. I’m really only looking for eye brushes right now, though, thankfully!

    • TracyBeautyReflections

      Hahaha I’ll tell you then!

  • These look so soft and beautiful! I can’t wait to touch them in the store! What an amazing selection as well.

    • TracyBeautyReflections

  • Toya

I have yet to try the two brushes I received (neither are these) because I haven’t had a chance to take photos, but they’re just taunting me on my bathroom counter, because they’re SO DAMN SOFT, you’re right Tracy! These are freakin’ awesome from what I can tell so far and it makes me wanna buy a whole bunch more! Can’t wait to get my hands on them all 😀

    • TracyBeautyReflections

      LOL. Me too!

  • Oh wow, number 128 looks like the kind of brush I’d buy straight after touching it!! I’ve been staying away from MAC brushes and have been enjoying both cheaper and more expensive brands. My favorites are Zoeva (very budget + good quality), Chanel (I own the blush brush, it’s amazing) & Dior (I have the angled foundation brush.. it’s perfect!) now. I’m slowly trying out Lancôme too, I have one powder brush of theirs I do like. Never considered MUF, but I obviously should!!

    • TracyBeautyReflections

Yes you should! I’ve heard Dior has some good ones! I always forget to ask when I’m at the counter.

  • that straight and wavy brush looks like a keeper to me. i have something similarly shaped and i use it every day. it just fits onto my cheeks so well for blush.

    • TracyBeautyReflections

Agree! I want more of these that’s for sure!

  • Oooh, I LOVE the 150! It looks so perfect as a contour brush! I received a brush for review too and you’re right, softest brushes EVER! I’m going to have purchase more of them!

    • TracyBeautyReflections

      Me too!

  • Lily

BRUSHES! I’ve had my eye on this line, but there are so many! I’ve been looking at Hakuhodo too. Time to upgrade my brushes… by year end, hopefully 🙂

    • TracyBeautyReflections

I’ve heard these are as soft as Hakuhodos!

  • Ooooh, pretties. I think I will put these on my Xmas list, because it is never too early to start one and I need these!!

    • TracyBeautyReflections

      LOL good idea!

  • these brushes sound like my dream come true 😉 xx

    • TracyBeautyReflections

  • Icaria

Purring brushes??? 76 of them??? *sigh*
