When I saw the Sephora Dual Action Brush Set, I was REALLY surprised. Not only has Sephora recently improved their makeup, they’ve taken it to the next level with their brushes too which is AWESOME!
The set comes in a handy-dandy metallic zip-around case that’s perfect to store the brushes, and is perfect for travelling too.
The Sephora Dual Action Brushes are dual-fiber synthetic and goat hair bristles, which means they can be used with powder and/or liquid makeup. They’re like a two-fer, two uses for the price of one! I love dual-fiber brushes and if you’ve never tried any you are missing out girl!
The Sephora Dual Action Brush Set comes with 8 brushes:
- Mini Mascara fan brush
- Finishing crease brush
- Finishing concealer brush
- Finishing powder brush
- Finishing contour brush
- Contour brush
- Shadow brush
- Precision sweep brush
This is a great bush set to get if you are a brush junkie and are looking for some dual fibre brushes that are versatile. I thought I’d show you a few of my favourite brushes from the set and how I like to use them! You can of course, use them however you want-that’s part of the fun of getting a brush set like this. It’s fun to think of different ways to use them!
First up, the Mini Mascara Fan Brush has to be the one you noticed there first, right? And your either thinking it’s neat or more likely, weird.
What you do is apply your mascara onto the brush(I just sweep it over whatever mascara wand I’m using) and then apply your mascara starting at the base of your lashes sweeping upwards. Then you just brush on the opposite sides of your lashes to coat both sides. What’s great about the mascara fan brush is how close you can get to the base of your lashes:
And it’s REALLY great at applying mascara onto your bottom lashes, without messing up your concealer which ALWAYS happens to me:
Can you tell which eye I used the Mascara Fan brush on?
If you guessed the eye on the right, then you’re right! See how my bottom lashes look thicker? And see how the mascara got right into the base of my upper lashes making it look like I’ve got eyeliner on? And how that instantly makes my lashes on the right look thicker? Cool, hey? It’s a fun brush to use and makes you feel all pro! It also is really great for applying mascara just at the outer corners to give a more cat eye look. MEOW!
The Precision Sweep Brush is really cool too:
This slim, dense-yet-has-some-give-in-it-brush is perfect to contour the sides of your nose with:
And it also fits perfectly under your cheekbones and your jawline as well. If you’re a contour freak like I am, then you’ll LOVE this brush. It blends beautifully too!
The Finishing Contour Brush has become my favourite brush to apply cream cheek products:
With this brush you need so little product as the bristles do all the work, blending cream and liquid products beautifully. It also works great with cream or liquid highlighters too, and works equally well if you use powders instead. This blush fiend LOVES this brush.
The Finishing Powder Brush can be used for a lot of things:
You can use it to apply your concealer and the shape lets you get really close to your lash line without disturbing your makeup. I love using it to apply powder to set my under eye concealer too:
And I also use it to apply a little bit of finishing powder in my t-zone. I have normal/dry skin, so I don’t need a lot of powder, otherwise it just makes my skin look drier. This brush allows me to apply just the tiniest bit of powder without having to worry about that. It also works really well at applying cream eyeshadows, and even your eye primer too.
The Finishing Powder Brush is dense and has some give in it too, and applies powder and liquid foundations equally well! I love using it to apply my Hourglass Ambient Light Powders:
With so many cool brushes that can be used so many different ways, the Sephora Dual Action Brush Set is a great set to have to compliment the brushes you already have. They are high quality, soft, work well and wash well too. The handles aren’t super long, so that’s a plus if you like shorter handled brushes. The eye brushes included are really great too, especially if you love mineral eyeshadows. They work really well when foiling them(using them wet).
My only problem with this set? THE PRICE. See that $68 price tag in the first picture? Well, that’s the US pricing. Here in Canada, this brush set will set you back $82 FREAKIN’ DOLLARS. REALLY SEHPORA??? A $14 price difference? I can understand $5 more, but $14? Nope. My patience runs out when I see that huge of a price difference. So my recommendation is that if you would love to have this brush set, then wait awhile. It will probably drop in price when Sephora decides to clear the set out to make way for another brush set. If you are lucky enough to be able to snag this for $68 then lucky you!
