Beauty Of Star Trek-Nyota Uhura! And A New Mascara: Marcelle Twist Push-Up Mascara

It Star Trek Sunday! Time to try and recreate another character’s makeup from the Star Trek Universe while we wait for the release of Star Trek: Into Darkness, and today I thought I’d tackle original Chief Communications Officer Lt. Nyota Uhura as played by Nichelle Nichols.

You all know that Uhura was an extremely important part of the original series’ multicultural crew, and was one of the first characters of African descent portrayed as an equal on American TV.

Did you know that Roddenberry wanted to call her Lt. Sulu? But when Nichelle auditioned for the part, she had a book with her that she was reading called Uhuru and when asked what the word meant, she explained that it was Swahili for freedom. When Roddenberry heard that, he changed the character’s name to Uhura. Cool hey?

I still think to this day that Nichelle Nichols is one of the most gorgeous women on TV ever.

She didn’t have a lot of makeup on, but always had a gorgeous winged eyeliner with a nude glossy lip and very contoured cheeks. This look is my favourite!

Here’s the products I used to create my own version of this look:

One of my favourite products I use to create a more contoured and sculpted look with is my IT Cosmetics My Sculpted Face Palette. Please excuse the well loved condition it’s in, but I think I need a new one:

Look I hit pan on TWO of the contours! I love this palette because of all the different matte contour shades, PLUS it has two white highlighters and one of them is a matte too. I hope IT Cosmetics still makes these!

When I want to have sculpted cheeks, the blush I reach for is my Burberry Russet blush. Best neutral blush ever made I swear!

My nude lip is courtesy of Tom Ford Blush Nude Lipstick and MAC Emancipation Lipglass on top of that. I’ve been searching for YEARS for the perfect nude lip and this combo is it! Also, I’m finding it so much easier to wear a nude lip with the grey hair for some reason and that makes me happy! Gives me a whole other lip shade area to explore now!

This graphic cat eye liner I am totally wearing again. And it was pretty easy to do, just bringing it down past the tear duct and in a bit again. It really helps to elongate the eye. And the faint eyeliner that’s slightly below and out on the bottom lash line gives the illusion of wider eyes too. It’s a double eyeliner threat!

For long voluminous lashes, I used my new favourite mascara, Marcelle Twist Push-Up Mascara($13.50 CDN):

The innovative cap was developed with a special mechanism that tightens and twists the bristles together to transform the brush from definition to volume with a simple twist of the cap. I apply Marcelle Twist Push-Up Mascara in the regular/straight bristle position to lengthen lashes first:

And then turn the top of the cap to twist the bristles closer together and apply a second coat for more volume.

It’s an awesome mascara! Really black, no smudging or flaking or clumping either!

I’m wearing one of my hubby’s CBC jackets. I steal it all the time, because it looks like
a Star Trek New Generation Uniform haha!

This is such an easy look to wear and I’ll definitely be wearing it again! I just love how that eyeliner look changes the shape of my eyes. Uhura knew what she was doing you guyz!

*Disclamer: I was sent this product to review by PR/Company. Love it or leave it, but my review and opinions are my own thoughts and words, thank you very much.
