I was surprised when Hourglass Cosmetics sent me a few of their amazing products to try.
I was really excited to try out Hourglass Visionare Eye Shadow Duo in Dune. A little bit too excited I think, because I couldn’t figure out how to open up the pretty thing! Yeah, sometimes packaging befuddles Tracy. I think I’ve mentioned how Chanel compacts give me grief. It took me a few seconds, but I finally figured this one out and that was surprise #2: the top swivels from either side all the way around, or 360°.
WAY COOL. It’s like futuristic or something. You know of course that I sat there and swivelled it around and around and around. And around. It’s the little things that amuse me. Oh, and the other side of the swivelly top is a mirror by the way.
Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Dune is a pale yellow gold and a dark olive green with copper and green shimmers. Honestly, I didn’t like the looks of them when I swatched them. I’m not a fan of golds as you know, and the olive/khaki green was so dark and pigmented. The picture on the left is in natural indoor light, while the one on the right is in sunlight. You can really see the shimmer in the sun!
But the Hourglass Film Noir Mascara wand is my favouritie kind of wand-longer with not very long bristles, so that made me happy!
As I applied the eyeshadows on top of primer of course, surprise #3 was at how pigmented they were. It seemed like I hardly needed any shadow on my brush to get the colour to show up on my lids.
These Hourglass eyeshadows are very blendable and buttery I have to say! But be careful you don’t pick up too much product-you really need very little, and because they are so soft the shadows kick up a little, so be careful.
The Film Noir Mascara is DIVINE. It’s a thicker formula and just enough wetness for my liking to keep building layers without getting clumps. No surprise there, because brushes like this one work really well for me.
Ok, so I changed my mind. Surprise #4: I LIKE Hourglass Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo in Dune. And I LOVE Hourglass Film Noir Mascara. This eye look lasted through my Zumba and Yoga workout with no creases and no smudging or flaking, which now makes that Five Surprises in one day. That’s a lot of surprises for this seasoned beauty junkie I tell ya’.
I want to try more of these eyeshadows!! Hmmm…I wonder if Hourglass has a taupe…
Now, you can’t be surprised at that!
Disclamer: I was sent this product to review by PR/Company. Love it or leave it, but my review and opinions are my own thoughts and words, thank you very much.
