Sephora Flashy Liner Waterproof Eye Pencil

Do you ever have one of those days when you can barely muster enough strength to brush your teeth?

Today was that kind of day for me. I flew to my hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba to visit my father who’s in a nursing home there because he has end stage Alzheimer’s. It was really sad and hard to see him like that, but he had a few lucid moments when he knew who I was for a few seconds. I’ll cherish those moments forever.

I am not a very good flyer. I get motion sickness if I turn my head too fast on the ground, never mind flying on an airplane! I need to take gravol so that I don’t get sick, and because I flew in on Sunday morning and came back home on Monday night, I was hopped up on gravol for two days straight. I don’t think I moved at all in bed last night, and when I woke up I was really groggy and stumbling around a bit, even after a cup of coffee!

When it came time to try and do my makeup, I was overwhelmed by the thought of having to pick eyeshadow colours. Me. A beauty blogger. Overwhelmed by makeup. I never thought I’d see the day, but here it was. I sat and stared bleakly at my makeup for a few minutes, until I spotted a Sephora Flashy Liner Waterproof Eye Pencil in Flashy Black Purple.

PhotobucketThis is one of those smokey black purple colours that looks mahogany to me, kind of like that Tarina Tarantino Eyeshadow in Pave. It’s a favourite colour of mine actually, because it makes my blue eyes look more teal. Teal is my favourite colour ever! Now, these pencils have the name Flashy because they have a metallic finish, but I find that it’s really subtle in this colour.

Anyways, I took my Sephora Flashy Liner and lined my upper and bottom lash lines with it. I then took my MAC Pencil Smudger brush and smudged. A lot. And not very precisely I might add, as I had limited dexterity if you recall.

Here’s the result:

I’d say that’s a pretty good look, wouldn’t you? I’ll tell you this, putting on the mascara was really hard to do compared to smudging the Sephora Flashy Liner. It was nice and smooth and blended easily.

My Sephora Flashy Liner stayed put all day, and since it’s waterproof I could have worked out and it would have stayed put, had I not been so out of sorts today.

You can get your own Sephora Flashy Liner at Sephora. It’s a great little eye liner to have, and made me feel a bit more competent this morning for just a wee bit!

And, if you know someone with Alzheimer’s, please visit them as often as you can. Don’t forget about them. It doesn’t matter that they might or might not remember you, what’s important is that YOU still remember them.

  • So sorry to hear about your father's Alzheimers. I can't even imagine how you must feel. *hugs*I'm a big fan of these eyeliners. This line is a hidden gem in the Sephora line. I love the copper one.

  • @Arianne: Thanks so much for the hug. I appreciate it very much. These are really great eyeliners much to my surprise! The colours are so vibrant!

  • I'm sorry. I'm sure he does appreciate your visits a lot *hugs*The eyeliner looks awesome. That's something to keep in mind on my groggy days…

  • @eight: Thanks for the hug. I really do appreciate it. Not bad for an eyeliner I say.

  • I'm glad you got to see your father but I'm so sorry to hear about his Alzheimer's. I'm told my grandma has Alzheimer's but whenever I'm with her she's quite lucid. The only time we know something is wrong when she complains that someone stole her money. No one takes money from grandma but we all have to give her money 😛

  • @Ashley: Thanks. Sounds like early stage still. My dad is in end stage-he can say a word or two, but mostly mumbles. He's mostly bedridden now, they put him in a wheelchair to eat, which is blended food, not solid anymore. It's a horrible disease that robs people of their dignity and wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy.

  • One of my grandparents had alzheimer's. The end is tough but I'm sure your dad will have appreciated your visit :)Eyeliner wise, gorgeous!!

  • Really sorry to hear about your father's condition…..must be so hard for you. hugs from my side. The eyeliner looks lovely on you…will check it out on my next visit to Sephora.

  • Tracy – So sorry to hear about your father, I can only imagine how difficult it is to to deal with his illness. I will say a prayer for you and your family and wish you the strength & courage to get thru it 🙂

  • @The Make-up Fairy: Thanks hun. @Harshleen: Thanks for the hug.ANd yes, do check it out!@Tracy D: Thanks so much my friend-the prayer means a lot to me. I really appreciate it.

  • Hugs here, too…I'm glad you're still visiting him, I'm sure somewhere he knows. And these eyeliners have always sparked my curiosity, but I haven't seen much about them. Thanks for the review 🙂

  • @LArie: Thanks so much for the hug. It means a lot.You are welcome! It's pretty great!

  • Oh, Tracy. I'm so sorry. I can't imagine what you're going through. You're dealing beautifully, as far as I can tell… I'm sure your father was so happy to see your wonderful face, whether you could see it or not. Hang in there! We're all pulling for you and your dad. :)*big big hugs*

  • @Liz: Hard for me, but harder for him. I can't imagine what it's like for him, you know? It must be so devastating. Thanks for the hugs my friend-means a lot.
