Sometime in November, I decided to stop washing my face in the morning. My skin had been so irritated, dry and flaky and nothing seemed to be helping. So like any good beauty junkie would do, I did some research and came to the conclusion that I was over-exfoliating my skin. I thought that exfoliating was going to get rid of the flakes, but it did not help at all and in fact, made it worse. I stopped using my Clarisonic in the morning and only use it at night now.
So what I am using in the morning now? I’ve been using a Micelle Cleanser in the morning to wash my face. What’s a Micelle Cleanser? It’s a liquid, no-rinse cleanser that cleans and refreshes without having to use water. Janine from imabeautygeek.com (one of the best Canadian Beauty Blogs out there) wrote a great post on How Micelle Cleansers Work explaining in easy to understand language, including a Pac-Man analogy. Love it!
I have been using two Micelle Cleansers: Bioderma Sensibio H20 and Marcelle Essentials Soothing Cleansing Water:
|Bioderma Sensibio H2O $22, Marcelle Eessentials Soothing Cleansing Water $14.25|
In the morning, I soak a couple of cotton pads with the cleanser and gently press all over my skin including my eyes and Voila! clean, refreshed and not irritated skin! I also use a micelle cleanser at night to remove my makeup and it does a fantastic job. By the way, you can use them to remove eye makeup, including waterproof mascara. I find I use too much of the product when removing eye makeup, so I still like to use an eye makeup remover.
My skin is so much better since I’ve been using a Micelle Cleanser. It’s less irritated, flaky and red. I used to get these weird, itchy red flare-ups on my jaw line and that has completely stopped since I’ve been using a Micelle Cleanser.
I like both of these micelle cleansers, but the Bioderma Sensibio H2O is my favourite of the two. My skin just feels a tiny bit cleaner and fresher when using that one. There are two more I’d like to try: La Roche-Posay Physiological Micellar Solution and Vichy Purete Thermale Micellar Solution.
Have you ever tried a Micelle Cleanser? Which ones?
